I have been coming to this location for years, I don't remember if it was an Alfredo's or Alberto's. I always liked the hard beef tacos. I got one and also a bean and cheese burrito $4.49. Entering the parking lot seems kinda sketchy, there is an auto mechanic that shares the driveway, and a tow yard across the street. I used the drive thru, and did Apple Pay but was charged 50 cents for using a credit card - No Amex accepted here. I drove away to eat, normally that's enough time to allow a burrito to cool down. But when it was less than warm when I started eating. I don't like how it's only wrapped in one piece of wax paper. The taco was good but very greasy. I just have random craving for carne asada fries and ever since I started work in Alhambra, I would occasionally come here on some fridays. I would say it's one of the better carne asada fries and it's only $8.80. I would usually eat it for two meals too( I mean I can finish it but I wouldn't feel too good about myself if I finished it in one go. Regardless, I get their carne asada fries and have their fries well done. It helps a little more too because I still need to drive back to RH so by the time, it's still a little crispy. Really, really bad experience this time. I usually go for the asada burrito and sausage (or bacon) breakfast burrito, but this time the asada burrito had absolutely no flavor. It was beyond bland. It was actually just like I remember back in my drunken college nights! Drive thru and take out only during COVID. Drive thru was quick and easy. Menu is still the same. They do limit salsas now. Carne Chimichanga - $5.45 - Stuffed with carne, rice, beans, and some veggies. Got it dry because I did not want it to get super soggy. Huge portion. I wish it was a tad bit more crispy though. Aside from being open 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday, Alberto's is one of those places you go to when you're craving some midnight/later snack on the weekends. My girlfriend and I went to order the carne asada fries around 10PM, and we went through the drive thru. The lady who took my order and handed us the food spoke with a condescending tone, and she appeared as someone who did not want to be working at the moment. This is disappointing because it is not difficult to be customer friendly, especially on a drive-thru visit. Food: The carne asada fries were average. It comes with fries, refried beans, carne asada, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. The amount of guacamole given covered about 1/3 of the box, which was disappointing. The fries were tasteless and more on the soft side. The quality of the carne asada was average, but they did give a lot of it. Overall, I would only come to Alberto's if I am in the area, or just want a quick bite of carne asada fries. I haven't found another carne asada fry place in the San Gabriel valley. 11.10.17 -update- had the carne asada burrito for the second time this week and the meat seasoning is SO MUCH BETTER. Quickest Mexican fast food in this area, and for a reasonable price match with quality. I've always gone through drive through and tonight wasn't any different. I did notice that they advertise this place as 24hrs so I'll remember that when I'm hungry in the middle of the night. Ordered the carne asada burrito and it was pretty decent for about $6. My boyfriend ordered the same thing with extra sour cream and so our total came out to $12.70, not bad at all. Couldn't tell which had the extra sour cream. I learned to never ask for extra anything in burritos because most likely they didn't add a noticeable amount. I recommend getting sauces like guac or sour cream on the side so you can add as you eat and are certain you got extra of whats necessary. Also asked for jalapeños and they gave me a bag full of pickled carrots and two tiny jalapeño slivers. Still ate the veggies, but meh. The carne asada burrito itself lacked flavor in the beef. Kinda on the dry side and the part where they closed off my burrito is unfilled, so I ate a lot of plain tortilla (I love tortillas so I didn't mind but don't expect a super stuffed burrito). There's pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream in it as well. The food came with two types of sauces (green and red). I prefer the green over the red, since the red has an unusual smokey red bell pepper taste. Also recommend the super fries if you want super carne asada fries.
