Restaurant is a small hole in the wall in a plaza. We were traveling through on our way to San Diego looking for a bite to eat and saw this place. We didn't expect much but we were definitely pleasantly surprised. I ordered a pastor burrito and it was bursting with flavor. Prices were decent too. Tacos were $2 each and burritos were $9. Fist time been to that place and it cost me a trip to ER, went for lunch yesterday and halfway thru the burrito I chewed up something very soft and I though it was a beef tendon but instead it's a piece of raw meat, by 5pm I started to feel nauseous and went to the restroom and throw up everything, after 5 hours the burrito was still in my stomach didn't get digested, and from then I keep going back to the restroom for vomiting and diarrhea until this morning so I went to see the doctor and he diagnosed me with food poison. After getting some donuts and a strawberry daydream refresher drink at Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins, I was really hungry, but I haven't eaten yet across from Dunkin' and Baskin-Robbins there's a Mexican restaurant and today is taco Tuesday they a deal buy a taco for $2 and you get the other taco for free. I was thinking tacos, but I was looking at the display menu they have a very good selection on the cuisine. I notice they serve chilie renello. I love chile relleno. I decided to order the plate. I noticed each restaurant I have been to, and they made their chilie renello different depending on the region they came from. I decided to my meal home when I arrived I can smell the chile relleno then I open the container the chille relleno looks good in a red chili sauce and cheese on top the chile relleno it comes with rice and bean and tortillas and sautéed onions. I took a bite right away, and right away, I could taste the heat of the red sauce, which was very good in flavor. The chile relleno has a very nice egg coat around the chilie, and cheese was very good and cheesy. The rice and bean were very good and tortillas, making them chile relleno tacos with sautéed onions they were very good. I enjoyed the food very at the Tacos Los 3 Portrillos. New Taco Tuesday spot? I've been wanting to try a birria taco as the one I previously ate didn't come with the consume to dip. I saw that this place had a pretty good rating and was not too far from home, so it was the perfect time to try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon arriving around 12:30, the restaurant was packed and that made me feel even more excited to try their food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I know I initially came for the birria tacos, but I ended up getting the birria quesadilla as I also wanted cheese and this was the best of both worlds. The quesadilla was quite large and filling for myself as I was able to share it with one other person and still had leftovers for dinner. Once I got that first dip of the consome with my quesadilla, it headed straight to my mouth and that first bite made me happy. It had flavor, cheese, and meat all in one bite - what more could I ask for. I also got some al pastor tacos to bring home as it was BOGO at $2 each - aka $1 tacos (only for al pastor). I got one bite in and I thought it had a nice flavor. The only complaint my family had was that there were a few pieces that were pretty much fat and tendon, so that made them a bit wary with each bite. We came on a Friday evening, my uncle raved about this place having amazing birria tacos and great selection of deals (like their buy one get one taco Tuesday). Entering it was quite small, roughly four tables, and the chairs had arm rests so it's hard to seat yourself without pulling the chair entirely out. There is a clear sign where to order, menus are on display and changes frequently. They had menu pamphlets without pricing near the order station as well. You can clearly see the inside of the kitchen behind their glass walls, so it's nice to see everything get made while you wait. They also had two TVs playing movies in español with closed captions of same language. We ordered a variety of dishes to try, birria queso tacos with consume, asada nachos, birria plate, ceviche tostada, menudo, and chorizo con huevos plate. Plus three drinks. Salsa, radishes/cucumbers, lime, and more chiles are available on the side and you pack them yourself (to go sauce containers are there with lids). There is a restroom but it had a sign saying No Public restroom, I should've asked but once we got our food more people came and it got busy! First, the birria queso tacos were amazing, crisp, yes greasy, but packed with lots of meat and cheese. Dip them in the consume for a great combination! Menudo was hot and had had generous amount of the meat. We asked for some bowls without lids to share amongst ourselves. The nachos were the favorite in our group, it came with cheese sauce, sour cream, asada, and blue chips. The Birria plate was great, the meat had a hint of spiciness (since my toddler was fine eating it), came with a pack of warm tortillas, and rice/beans. I didn't try the ceviche, although it just came with two tostadas, it was eaten by one person. The chorizo con huevos was ok, I'd stick with the birria if I had a choice. Drinks were huge, fountain drinks (didn't ask for refills), however, we did ask for no ice and they still put ice... probably misheard which drinks shouldn't have ice (which we asked no ice for all of them). My uncle had their burritos before and said it was packed with fillings and very good. Overall, great place for birria, tacos, nachos, and burritos. Next time I'll check if the restroom is accessible to customers and try their other dishes. read more

I was at the AT&T store next door and saw that this place had a taco Tuesday deal. It's rare to get tacos for $1 now a days but they had a $2 for 2 tacos al pastor. I ended up buying 4 of them for $4 and will say I was impressed at how good they were. Double wrapped tortillas with a reasonable amount of meat. I also liked that this place had an extensive salsa bar with 4 different salsa, pickled veggies, and limes. Would need to try out more of the menu next time I'm around the area but definitely would be back just for those Tuesday tacos. read more

The taco shop isn't huge like some other franchise competitors. But it's got bar table against the kitchen, and a few other tables for small party. There is no outdoor dinning area. They offer variety of meat options. If you like what I like, they have lengua, buche, and tripa; which are my favorites! The price is very competitive, comparing to some taco trucks nearby. The SGV isn't known for great taco spots outside of Ixtaco and Teddy's Red Tacos recently parking in El Monte. 3 Portillos is your no frills authentic taqueria with horse paintings, Sinaloan ballads playing in the kitchen, and a refrigerated salsa bar. First, this place is clean and well-kept. The cashier stand is next to glass-encased kitchen where you can see the al pastor trompo (big plus). Service is quick, and you pick up at the cashier when ready. Ok taco time. The al pastor has that CORRECT al pastor marinade and is CRISP. Perfection. Carne asada is well executed, no nerves, minimal fat. Suadero was lean, no nerves, and lime marinated. Cabeza was soft, and thankfully not very fatty. They trimmed it well. A super random choice in lunch after visiting my dad. My family and I came here because it was just close to the freeway and we wanted tacos. It is a tiny place in a shopping center and the place was super clean. We tried a bit of everything. - tacos: amazing and fresh. The tortilla isn't soggy or burnt - menudo: not a lot of fat which was good. Super flavorful and with tons of meat. Make sure you ask for onions and cilantro - torta: not worth it. I didn't think it was worth the price because there wasn't that much meat nor avocado. It just looks like a sad sandwich. - ceviche: just no. I prefer my shrimp raw in ceviche but the shrimp in these just look bad. The color and way it was cooked wasn't good at all. All in all, menudo and tacos was great! And the torta and seafood wasn't. BUT while we were waiting for our food the cook was grabbing cold meat WITH NO GLOVES reheating it went and grabbed our bread for torta he burnt the bread grabbed tortillas STILL NO GLOVES . We got our food i got a taco de pastor the pastor was burnt and not a great taste the torta bread was burnt the asada wasn't great at all ! The chicken had a weird taste to it. Came here tonight Tuesday in search of some good f-ing tacos. When I got here the place smelled gooood. I ordered and the cashier was extremely nice and patient and answered all the questions that I had. The price is not bad at all as well. I ordered 4 tacos al pastor , 2 asada , 2 tripas , and a large horchata and it was $17 for all. The music playing is also fire. As for the tacos, I wish I would've took a pic of them but I fucked them up. They were so good.
