Have been going there for several years. Food and service was always top notch. Went there this June of 26, it has totally changed even the people working there. Service was bad and slow. Asked waitress for more salsa and she acted like it was an inconvenience. Took 10 minutes to get it and it was from some lady from the kitchen that asked me what it was I wanted. Let me begin by saying the food was pretty good. I got chicken fajitas and asked them to hold the pico de gallo. They were sizzling hot and had good flavor. My husband got Enchiladas Supreme. He said they were okay. I wish they would get real glasses or cups because the plastic disposable cups were small and flimsy. The straws were already in our drinks when he brought them out. I prefer to open my straw myself but I have a feeling these weren't wrapped separately to start with. The service was adequate. You can't tell this is a Mexican restaurant from the inside. Some of the tables are folding tables. There is carpet on the floor. The place seems to be very clean and there are a few Christian wall hangings which is nice. If I was local I would probably get take out from this place regularly but if you're looking for the full Mexican restaurant experience, this doesn't quite have that atmosphere. read more

We were in town for a family reunion and came in last minute with a HUGE party. 19 of us. We felt bad, but we were starving. The staff wasted no time in getting us set up and arranging our checks. Our server (I wish I knew her name) was conscientious and made sure that we, as she said, "Enjoy our experience." The service here is uncommonly good. Then a trivia game started and half of our party was pitted against the other. We won, BTW. They took and ordinary occasion and made it extraordinary. They helped us make a lasting memory. Stopped here for a bite to eat on a road trip. Nice restaurant and very friendly staff. Felt like eating with family at a relative's house. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We ordered the Steak Lopez and the Chile Verde pork plate. Some of the best Mexican food I've had (and I'm from California where there is plenty of good Mexican food). The owner has a heart of gold - inviting anyone hungry in to eat even if they can't afford a meal (see photo attached). This restaurant is definitely a favorite when in the area. read more

Considering this place had a fire they still have amazing food amazing staff and do a wonderful job the restaurant they're building will have the Mexican atmosphere that you want to see and feel and the food is the best I found in the area. we Especially like going on there bingo nights so after a wonderful meal you get to enjoy a Fun friendly game of bingo and even win prizes can't get better than that read more

We were in town for a family vacation. We were staying 3 minutes away at an Airbnb. We were left a list of great local options for food. Senior Lopez place wasn't on the list, but Yelp and Google showed good reviews. We decided to give it a try and we're very happy. Very friendly and quick service. The food was hot and delicious. Fresh homemade chips and salsa was served as soon as we sat down. We ordered the Taco salad, Enchiladas Texans, Quesadilla Rellena (beef), and Quesadilla Senior (chicken) all we're very delicious. I do wish the Taco Salad was a little more lettuce and a little less beef, but it was still very good. I would recommend this place if you are in town. read more

I live in Tellico and eat there quite often. Quite good. just don't order anything with steak in it. Tough as flank steak and grossly overcooked. One thing I really liked is their help offered during Covid. A customer could buy a $10 receipt and staple it to a board. Anyone in need can take one or more receipts to pay for his meal. Had lunch here today because the Mexican restaurant we were planning to go to was closed for some kind of repair/s. Funny how life throws you a curve, but you find a nice, new alternative. I'm from SoCal, so Mexican cuisine is plentiful and varied. This was a nice surprise. While visiting family, we did some hiking in the Tellico Plains area and found this little gem. The food is very good! My family had the chorizo and eggs, chicken tacos and enchiladas, etc...and they were decent, but it's kind of hard to screw up those traditional "Mexican" dishes. I had the al pastor tacos, and this was VERY tasty al pastor. If you know anything about al pastor, you know it can be hit or miss... this was definitely a HIT! The decor is NOT kitschy Mexican restaurant... that was odd... but I read another review that mentioned a fire??? Hopefully, if this gem has suffered a setback, I hope the locals will help to get them back on their feet, because the food is very good, the service good, and this is a place worth supporting. Traveling in from Buffalo, NY and found this little gem. Something about Mexican food in north Georgia and east TN. Food was great, and would definitely return. I'm not crazy about their salsa.
