Chicken salad was a little on the salty side, fried pickles with ranch was delicious. Food tasted like it was made with love. We have been 2500 miles on a road trip and this was some of the best food so far. If you like sweet corn, try the farmhouse corn. Chicken and dumplings were tasty and heavy on the shredded chicken. You can improve your mashed potatoes they weren't real. They're the imitation and yes, they're from a box!! Especially when you ask your waitress before you order how are your mashed potatoes? Are they real and she says yes they are and they're good!! After shes collecting our plates and ask us how everything was,we said good except for the mashed potatoes that I didn't eat because I don't like the ones that are from the box they have a funky taste otherwise I would've ordered something else!! I said these were not real potatoes and she took our plates and walked away saying there not from a box!! Maybe you should go in the kitchen and act like that not in front of your customers .. it's not like I was rude or anything. Generally this would have been a solid four star experience, unfortunately they lose points for junk fees. During checkout at the counter, there's a little sticker notifying you of a 3.99% fee to use a credit or debit card. Sigh. As a business owner myself, I love customers that use credit cards and the small fee (much lower than 3.99%) that I pay is well worth it as credit cards actually streamline my backend processing compared to cash or checks. read more

It was four minutes from our hotel and a block off the main drag. We loved the outside AND the inside. Five stars. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very helpful. When I asked about the coleslaw, she brought me a taste. It was good, but not the creamy kind I really like. So I ordered the Senior Special - one meat ( chicken casserole) and 2 sides (peaches and corn nuggets) with cornbread. Husband got the popcorn shrimp and crinkle fries. Five stars for service and varied menu - especially the inexpensive senior specials! When the food came, we could feel the heat coming off of it. Everything was so good! I loved the chicken casserole- like the inside of a pot pie with crackers instead of a crust mixed in. The corn nuggets were perfect, and corn bread tasted like it was made from scratch. Peaches were good. Husband had no complaints about his food, and ate it all. Five stars for the food. There was so much to see, all around us. The decor was eclectic- vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia, cows, old signs, horses, chickens, and lots of signs to welcome and show love. Five stars for decor. In a review, someone mentioned dessert. They regretted not taking it to go or eating it after dinner. We don't like regrets, so we ordered the carrot cake AND the peanut butter pie. They were equally delicious. Dessert gets five stars. The hamburgers were ok. I had the special. The hamburgers were mostly lettuce. My beef was really dry. The side were good! My waitress was not good! She kept passing us for the other customers. Guess they were locals so more important. She never offered refills. We couldn't get extra napkins since she didn't look out way. We never got a bill. Husband just paid for 3 meals . Not sure who's. After a fantastic train ride- what better meal than a farmhouse, home cooked, delicious lunch! I had already researched this place, but even the train recommended Farmhouse and a couple other local restaurants. John and I both ordered specials- a steal! I had the pot roast with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob- all of wish was delicious. I WISH I had ordered pie to go! John got the salisbury steak with corn on the cob, white beans with Virginia ham and applesauce and he devoured everything- loved it. Robert got a buffalo chicken wrap with fries that was enormous and he was stuffed and happy. They were very busy and cranking! Service was great, food was fantastic and the price was right. Took a drive on a Friday and ended up in Etowah. Went to a nice antique store and they recommended this restaurant for lunch. Absolutely outstanding! Greeted appropriately and seated immediately. Nice converted house with all the original charm. The service was excellent. My wife had the Fried Green Tomato Cheeseburger and I had the Patty Melt. Both were made with a large portion of ground beef that was not a frozen patty, great flavor. Plenty of fries to go with it. The staff was very welcoming. The owner should be proud. This is a great little restaurant run by a very nice family. They have similar restaurants in other small towns. Most everything is cooked from scratch, just like Grandma used to do. They tried to open one in Tellico Plains where I live. It was doing great. Then the landlord made them build an addition that almost doubled the size of the place. Then the landlord sold the building out from under them. A bunch of yankees bought it and it was out of business in a month. Anyway, the Etowah restaurant is their home base. Just be very careful traveling in Etowah. They are famous around these parts for fee grabbing. read more

My husband and I were staying for a few days in Reliance, and we were craving some home-cooked soul food that we can't get in Indiana. We came upon Farmhouse Restaurant as a last resort with the limited options around us, and we kept expectations low. I was envisioning something kind of Cracker Barrel-esque from the looks of this place, (which is not what we were going for), but man were we pleasantly surprised. The menu is so short you don't even need one at your table. There's a whiteboard that specified what you can order on the given day. I didn't dig the limited choices at first, but after eating there, I believe the reasoning for the tiny menu is so that they can focus on making the things they serve the best they can be. The quality made me picture a bunch of cute grandmas back in the kitchen giggling and ladling out our mashed potatoes with granny love I started with a sweet tea (because when in Rome, right?) and I chugged that thing faster than I've ever consumed anything. *Killer* tea!!! My husband and I both got the Meatloaf with a few different sides. BEST MEATLOAF hands-down we've ever had. Ruined all other meatloaf, sorry mom. Very generous portions. I ate until I literally couldn't and still had another meal to take home. AND somehow we both got drinks and a meal with two sides, and our bill was $12?!?!?!?! So cheap. We determined that the star sides are the spicy coleslaw and the broccoli casserole. We lay in bed and dream of this heavenly food. The food was outstanding having been raised in the country it was like what my mom made for us. The hot slaw was one of my favorites along with the fried green tomatoes.
