I have seen Senior Oink all over social media and in magazines so we thought we would give them a try. We stopped in and were warmly greeted and the lovely lady at the counter answered all of our questions. The restaurant itself is very clean and inviting as well as being super cute. The vibe here is impeccable! We had the tacos - Pork Rib, Butt, Belly, and Skin and while they were all well prepared we felt they all lacked seasoning. The Pork Belly had the best texture with nice crispy ashes and a delightfully soft interior. The salad they serve are very interesting, the Green one has great flavor but needs a kick to it while the orange on is legitimately dessert sweet. Overall we felt the food was well prepared but not to our tastes overall. That could definitely be just us since we are definitely not carnitas experts. If you are, there is a much better than average chance that you will love it here. read more

We checked out Señor Oink and it's a super casual walk-up, order-at-the-counter type spot. I really liked their menu--lots of solid options. We tried the buche, costilla, maciza, and surtida. Overall, great flavor across the board. The maciza was good but could've used just a little more salt to really hit. The tortillas do taste store-bought, but they at least run them through some oil, which helps a lot and makes them taste better than most places that don't. Their aguas frescas were amazing, and it's a big plus that they have caguamas. The pasito tun tun is a standout too--kind of like a charro negro but even better. Only thing missing from the vibe... no Vicente Fernández playing, which was a bit of a letdown. Overall, it's a solid spot with great flavor, good drinks, and a laid-back atmosphere. read more

Still looking for new culinary experiences as the Cashew Family is gone to the RGV. I doom scrolled FB reels for food until I saw this chicharrón post so I drove 35 minutes to this restaurant. My weekend journey continued facing the same problem, parking at the restaurant. This place is located surrounded by an apartment complex and 7 restaurant/businesses with FEW parking slots. You place your order as you entered and I took the cashiers advice flautas and 2 tacos (pork rib & maciza). As you pass the kitchen, you can see that the carnitas are freshly made in the mega bowl (look at the picture IYKYK) They have a variety of tempting adult beverages and the chicharrón with meat was calling my name. The restrooms are very clean and located to the right side of the seating area. The flautas were very meaty with each bite (up until the last bite). They are served in a cup with the sour cream, guacamole and lettuce at the base of the cup. Nice mix of both. If you want spicier, they bring you red and green sauce in a bottle. After the flautas, I felt like Luther from the gang The Rogues in the Warriors, I told the 2 tacos "come out and play!" The pork rib was very tasty due to the marbling with the meat. I poured the flauta sauce on both tacos and it was on point. I was stuffed so I will be back to have the chicharrón with meat on it. Good price for the 3 items. read more

I saw this place on social media and was excited to try it. A pig-centric restaurant sounded right up my alley. Unfortunately, I can only give it 3 stars. We ordered the four taco plate: pork butt, pork rib, pork belly, and a combo taco with all the meats. Honestly, there was no real difference between the pork butt and pork rib, and while they were fine, they didn't stand out. The pork belly was the best of the bunch. We also tried the corn, the beans, and a pineapple basil aqua fresca. The aqua fresca was a highlight with a really nice flavor spin. The sides were not very hot either and the portions on those seemed kinda chintzy. On the downside, the tortillas were a little dry, the dining room was uncomfortably cold (and I almost never complain about AC), and the music was louder than it needed to be. I recently visited Señor Oink's in Farmers Branch and honestly, what a pleasant surprise. Serving only pork is already a risky move, but the second you walk in, you can tell that risk has paid off. The vibes are great, the place feels fun and welcoming, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. I had the barriga tacos and they were incredible--so flavorful and perfectly cooked. They come with three kinds of salsa, and the mango habanero was my favorite. It's the perfect sweet and spicy combo that takes the tacos to another level. Really was looking forward to this place but left very disappointed. I appreciated the usage of various cuts of meats on their tacos however, while the meat was cooked nicely all the tacos were just average at best. (We ordered one of each minus the veggie ones). They were also missing a nice salsa to complement these. The 2 salsas served in the table were just lackluster and just didn't do the tacos the justice they deserved. We also tried the guacamole and pork belly app again just bland. The drinks were pretty weak too, tried a Paloma and a mezcal one and both incredibly watered down. This fun taqueria is serving delicious porky goodness! Counter service with a full bar serving tropical drinks. Staff was very friendly. This place is hopping, so seating is first come first serve -- both inside and outside -- and be prepared to wait for food to come up. It was pretty stuffy in there and they had the door propped open, I guess to save on air conditioning. Every single component of the meal was full of flavor. The meat was rich and juicy. The pico and sauces were perfect. The pineapple basil Agua Fresca alone would be worth going back for! The quality is definitely a gourmet experience without a snobby location. If you don't understand the menu, the staff is great about explaining each item. The elote is perfect. Made from corn off the cob, real cream and scrumptious cheese. A party of 4 should order by the pound. It highly recommend the Surtida del Senor. It's a pound of 3 types of pork that includes tortillas, Pico de Gallo and sauces of your choice. Make sure to ask for all their sauces. Each is unique and made in house. Nothing too spicy. Just enough heat to make it even more delicious. We had the fresh raspberries and cream for dessert. Perfect ending to the meal. Refreshing with no sugar added. When I got there it was not at all what I saw on IG, the chicharron bar was quite small and sparse. I ordered the chicharron and guacamole. I got six pieces and regular pork skins and guacamole. No flavor and the guacamole tasted artificial. I also ordered a burrito, the meat was well seasoned, lots of fatty flavor but it was cut to big... so when you took a bite- you either had to cut it or stuff your mouth. It was kinda gross actually, the beans tasted ok- but it was too much and not enough rice to help retain or absorb some of the moisture and integrity of the burrito. Nothing like the picture.. not was. Everything had pineapple or a sweet component. The mango habanero was basically like a syrup. Great service but not the food unfortunately no.
