Went to a Beekeeper's meeting in Mt Pleasant and stopped by here before going home. The service was awesome. I had water and normally when you drink water restaurant don't refill it as quickly as they would tea or soda. They were on top of it. The best place for a quick, freshly cooked meal that will guarantee you full / satiated! I often leave with leftovers :) salsa is fresh and comes as a starter with chips. I always get a combo meal, you can't go wrong with any of the vegetarian options. The arroz con pollo is another one of our favorites. Great happy hour options as well. The food was better here than at santis. I like being able to sit outside here too. However I have a real issue with our service. We had three different people seating us, getting drinks and then ordering. We had a bit of a communication barrier with our server regarding good. Two of us asked for nachos with beef and beans. We literally got chips with cheese beans and beef. Nothing else. It is supposed to include lettuce tomato and onion I believe? We asked for those items. And got a heaping of shredded lettuce, one small slice of tomato and a scoop of guacamole. It was bizarre but we didn't feel like waiting longer to eat. Then at the end I was charged 5.50 for a guac salad. Like what?! My friend wasn't charged anything extra. I asked why and he proceeded to argue with me about the lettuce plate. He eventually took it off and I know he still doesn't understand why. I'll come back but I'm going to watch what I say for sure. Service needs to improve. A lot. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. They are always consistent. The atmosphere is light and friendly. The seats all their new I'm not that comfortable but they are not as bad as you think. I really love their annual for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. They close off the parking lot and it's really chill. Can't go wrong here everything is good. My new favorite is Chile Relleno. My classic favorite go to's have always Cheesesteak Burrito and Arroz con Pollo (dinner) or ACP (lunch). They have specials every day for both drinks and food. read more

Five years have passed since my last visit to Senor Tequila now I know why. Not that our meals were bad, they just weren't good ... and that's a shame, especially in this market. My margarita was such a disappointment ... the mixer was way too sweet and frankly, I'm not sure there was any Tequila in the glass. The chips were dry and tasteless; the salsa was thin, puréed to the consistency of ketchup. Joe's beef burrito duo was ordinary ... served without beans or rice ... bummer. My Chipotle Chicken, drowning in sauce, was served with a huge portion of Spanish rice that looked and tasted like the variety sold in vacuum packages, i.e., Uncle Ben's. Our server, Jose, was attentive. The noise level was high but that was to be expected at 7:00 pm on a Saturday night. Meh! read more

My friend and I shared the beef fajitas and Tacos de Carnitas. They had portion sizes. The tacos are flavorful and I always appreciate a corn tortilla. For the fajitas, the tortillas we're flour, would've been easier if they had smaller tortillas and more of them, but still delicious. Meat was cooked well and tender. They have really good Mexican rice, flavorful and not too mushy. the only thing I disliked was that the drink, Piña Colada daiquiri, it was way to sweet and all I could taste was the syrup. Friendly staff would recommend. I have ordered the Piña Colada daiquiri before, but it was not too sweet and very coconut forward, so it may just have been that night. I have had their Dixie Melon Madness and that was very good. Overall I recommend Señor Tequila, friendly staff and we were seated quickly. read more

So I've only been here maybe two or three times and this is why I'm giving señor tequila five stars: I ordered some Pollo con mole over the phone as a to go order and they said "give us about 10 minutes"! I got there in 10 minutes and paid the check but when I looked inside the bag not only was there a portion for at least two people but also a big bag of tortilla chips, the flour tortillas I wanted, and even the lettuce tomatoes and guacamole in a separate container!!!!! Even a container of salsa for the chips! So the lettuce won't wilt on the way home!!!!!! I got back out of my car and walked back inside to give them an extra tip on top of what I gave them and the whole thing was only $12!!!!!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY ! And they really put some thought and effort into my to go order of all things!!!!! I used to frequent this place a few years ago. It was a go-to spot for my co workers and I for lunch because of the fast service. Nothing has changed...they are still fast! I ordered a burrito with queso on top with rice and beans on the side. My colleague ordered a taco salad. The food arrived so quickly. Everything was delicious. The prices are great. I'm not sure about this place... We had like three different servers y'all. Literally. And they weren't even good. Didn't check in on us. Did not greet us. Slow service. We even had to ask for our bill and I had no clue of which server to even ask. The food was flavorful, but still not enough to change my rating. We ordered the crab-cake quesadilla. Our drinks.....probably little to zero alcohol. Most restaurants such as this go heavy on the alcohol, but I'm sure my cranberry margarita was literally only cranberry. The portion of chicken fajitas was more than one person could eat, the combination plate had a nice variety of Mexican items and the pitcher of Texas margaritas was spot on. I thought this place was it's own unique Mexican restaurant didn't realize that this was the same as your standard Mexican place i.e. Los Arcos, La Hacienda...etc. My friend and I sat down to have a bit to eat and get some drinks before the Christmas Light Parade on Coleman Blvd. Neither of us had ever been and before we even looked at the menu she said "I'm probably getting a number 10". As expected, the number 10 entree was the same exact entree as every other place around town. I don't get it, is there like a paint-by-numbers kit you you can buy to open a Mexican restaurant? Or maybe they all got together to get an amazing deal on printing by making the exact same menu? Whatever the case may be, the food was as expected. All I had was tacos with rice and beans so I can't say too much about it. A couple issues I had was that there were specials listed on a board as we walked in. I inquired about drink specials and he said "Happy Hour" (BTW his english is pretty weak, which is fine as long as you can still communicate). It was only 3:40p but I took that as he was offering happy hour early? To which he awkwardly nodded yes. I proceeded to ask him what the specials were to which he replied margaritas and beer. Prying a bit deeper, like for prices and types of beer, left him clueless. He gestured that he would find out and get back to us. He came back with little to no more information than when he had just left. I ended up getting a pitcher of Dos XX (turned out to be $9 which is pretty good). All the TV's were tuned to either the Eagles game or not a game at all so I asked if one of the TV's could be turned to the Patriots game. Again he was confused but seemed to understand what I was getting at because he came back and asked what channel it was on. I told him CBS but wasn't sure of their cable provider, he said again that he would go get someone to put it on. As I watched the updates pouring in on my phone while game took a major turn (Pat's Vs. Brown's) for the better, the game was never put on and I missed the entire 4th Qtr. I was a little aggravated but happy my team won nonetheless. Although the food was fine and the prices were great, there was absolutely nobody caring at all. I should have known by how empty Senor Tequila's was on a Thursday at 7:00 PM, that it wasn't going to be that great of a Mexican food experience. But we have been saying we were going to give them a try for a while; so we did. When we walk in there were two guys at the cash register that didn't give us a warm greeting, just a "two?"; then one took us to our table. Our server came over and brought us menus and wasn't the friendliest either. He took our drink order and we ordered some queso. He goes away and brings us our queso with no chips, then after a brief period another guy shows up with chips and salsa. We are still waiting on our drink; which finally arrive and we place our order for three tacos. The tacos take less time than the drinks to arrive; I'm sure from my experience working at Rio Bravo back in the day that the beef is precooked and sitting in a heated well, so basically it is just a scoop job of beef on the tortilla and throw on a little cheese and lettuce. The quality of the food and drinks were not great at all. The margarita was not fresh, it was from a mix and there barely any tequila in there. If you are going to call your restaurant "Senor Tequila's" you better damn sure put some tequila in that margarita. The cheese dip was warm, but very lumpy. The tacos were on par with tacos you could get down the road from Taco Bell. Overall I would rank this place as a little better than La Hacienda and little lower than your typical Mexican restaurants. read more

Opened my to go tray and saw a huge chunk of tomato and thought that it was odd. I get about 3/4 done with my meal, cut into the last enchilada and out comes a beer bottle cap! But when I ask for the discount they said I needed a coupon. It's not a coupon, it's on the flyer! Also, it was 80 degrees in here on a hot summer day. Me and my girlfriend have been coming here for a while, the food is excellent and authentic Mexican. Things went wrong when we were greeted by our server, Alex. I ordered the nachos (which on the menu say come with sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, tomatoes and choice of chicken or beef). When my plate came out with nothing but a few chips, melted cheese and chicken I was very thrown off. Both my girlfriend and I are waiters, so We understand that miscommunications happen. I asked Alex (our server) why there wasn't any of the other toppings and he came back stand off-ish insisting that I had ordered plain nachos with chicken. I asked him if I could just have a plate with other toppings and he returned with a stern face and said "next time make sure you tell the waiter exactly what you want" this is just BS because I AM A WAITOR!!!!! I was so shocked that our waiter was okay with insisting that I, a customer, was wrong. This was a bummer because I was so looking forward to some good nachos, and also looking forward to showing support to a fellow server by leaving a big tip, but Even as a waiter I felt like this guy didn't even deserve the standard 20%. I ate lunch here today, and it was great! I love that they've put some of their tables and booths outside. Their chips and salsa come free, and are good. We ordered the Arroz con Mariscos (shrimp & scallops over rice with a great sauce) which was delicious, and is a VERY generous portion. We also like the Carne Asada a lot. This use to be one of our favorite Mexican restaurants but the food and the service has continually declined. The past three visits we had to wait a significant amount of time to order. The last time we went it took so long to get our food that the people who came in after us got their food And they were halfway done before we got our food. This past visit, the service was again subpar. When the food came out the tortillas for our fajitas weren't brought out. We had to wait for 10 minutes until the waiter finally came to check on us to ask for the tortillas them only one order came out immediately. We had to wait for the second order and it wasn't even brought out on a plate. Just a packet of tortillas. Visited Friday after Thanksgiving. Locale was very slow. Staff standing around. Was seated promptly but the server had a newness in his eyes which always spells trouble. He had to ask how wife wanted a simple margarita 3 times and still brought it to the table twice incorrectly. The dinner order was Simple : both no sour cream. He brought both with sour cream and we had to send back. We asked for a new server. She came and was polite but when she brought the remade entrees one was completely the wrong dish. Alert: My boyfriend and I just moved here from Southern California, the mecca of Mexican food, next to Mexico, of course. On the outside, this place looks...blah. We were (I was) starving for Mexican food, however, so we decided to give it a try. The inside is very cute. But it seems strange to me that Mexican restaurants are always built as buildings, within buildings. That is, you have roofs and glass windows surrounding your table. Cute, makes you feel like you are sort of on a patio at a Mexican restaurant in Mexico. This is the reason I am giving this place such a low grade. My boyfriend and I were trying to decipher the MASSIVE menu (all I wanted were enchiladas, rice and beans... typical Mexican meal, non?) and I couldn't find it. So our waiter finally stopped by, and I asked him about it. His response: "I'm Puerto Rican, I don't know anything about Mexican food!" So I said, "But you work here!" He got flustered and couldn't find a smart reply to my statement. I mean, come on! I don't have any Mexican blood--I'm Caucasian and Asian, but I still know my Mexican food. I mean really? I don't care if you are Laotian, German Shepherd or Louis Vuitton! You should know your menu if you work there!! The food was pretty bad, in fact, I got slightly sick.
