Found this authentic Mexican restaurant via Yelp! I am on a business trip. I was craving some authentic Mexican food and WOW did I ever find a jackpot! Pretty good for this type of Mexican restaurant. Extensive menu, good prices and friendly staff. They make a mean and strong margarita. Their chorizo cheese dip app is a must. Señor Tequila has been our go-to Mexican spot since living in the Charleston area. This is a no frills standard Mexican joint. This is not a Mex 1 or Minero that serves craft tacos or uber-authentic food. This is standard Tex-Mex fare that is on the cheaper side. This is a great spot if you want a cheap night out. The food isn't spectacular but it's not too shabby. Keep an eye out for coupons in the mail. They come on the regular and I think it's part of what keeps us coming back. If your dinner plans include authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks, Señor Tequila is not the place for you. That being said, I would recommend Señor tequila for your Americanized Mexican and margarita happy hour cravings. From 4pm-6pm, large any flavor margaritas are only $9 and pitchers are only $14. Try the peach or mango for sure! 34oz beers are also an incredible happy hour price. I enjoy the atmosphere of the one in Mount Pleasant more so than the one in West Ashley, most because the store is larger, cleaner, and overall more comfortable, but both are nice. I recommend the fajita quesadilla which usually turns in to two meals for me because of how much food they give you. Went here on a Tuesday evening. Fun decor. Great price for what you get. My husband got a mango margarita which was OK, but very weak. Once we mentioned this to the waiter, he generously poured another shot in at no extra charge. Loved this. The price for the beer was unbeatable! That was my favorite part. The food was decent. I did not like my spinach quesedillas as the spinach tasted like bad frozen spinach. My husband and his friend really enjoyed their meals which were borritos and tacos. RUSHED TO ER! DO NOT EAT HERE. I have an allergy to peanuts and told the server before I even ordered the severity of my allergy (mole sauce has ground peanuts; not all Mexican restaurants list this). He assured me he would check with the chef. Food came, I ate it and I knew something was wrong. I asked them to list the ingredients in the sauce - they did not list peanuts. By the time I did my epipen (because I was gasping for air) and was rushed to the ER, I was covered head to toe in a hives. After several hours in the ER they allowed me to go home. I wrote a letter to Señor Tequila 1. To make them aware of this life-threatening situation where I could have gone into cardiac arrest and died. 2. To inform them that their employees need to be educated on food allergies and cross-contamination that can occur in food preparation. 3. To ask them to pay for my medical bills that were $1500! My wife & I decided we'd try Taco Tuesday for our 1st Senor Tequila experience. What a disappointment! 1st our server didn't know the rules of $1.00 tacos. We were told only beef and chicken tacos were $1.00 and they could be Soft or Crispy shells. We were surprised at checkout to find only Crispy Shells apply. $6.50 Mistake + the soft tacos come w/ beans or rice +$2.55 mistake but I was charged for them. My wife ordered Crispy w/ a side of Black Beans. The server's helper brought out Soft Tacos w/ Re-fried Beans. Tried to explain but the helper didn't speak English. The checkout experience was a disaster. Tried to explain to the cashier the server told us Soft Chicken Tacos were $1.00 and he refused to call the server to verify. He seemed matter of fact about it. I was pretty upset and decided leave w/o confrontation. A little surprised when I looked at my CC charge this AM $40.87 for what was supposed to be (6) $1.00 Tacos - (1 ) side of Rice, (1) side of Beans, (1) dish of Jalapenos, (1) dish of Sour Cream, (2) Regular Pacifico drafts, 1 Texas Margarita (Happy Hour Prices were in effect) The meal was pretty good not exceptional however we thought we had found a good Mexican Restaurant EOC. First of all, one sliced (hard as a rock) avocado was $4.95, second, the up charge on a kids taco plate was $3.80 for grilled chicken instead of shredded chicken which made the kids meal $9.00. I will never go back and I will tell all my friends and strangers how horrible the customer service was...
