    Steak tacos

One of the few Mexican restaurants downtown. I stopped by for happy hour and they have several food specials to choose from. The quesadilla was pretty solid, sprouts were amazing and the steak tacos were very flavorful. Oddly no drink specials, I tried a couple of their cocktails and they were a bit sweet for my taste.

AMAZING cheese dip, food was pretty good, a little pricey but that's just charleston. Very pretty restaurant and they were able to fit five of us in immediately at 7pm on Saturday in July with tourist season. Would recommend if you're looking for "Mexican"food with a more upscale feel in the area.

Cute Mexican spot in Charleston. I think it may be underrated. Maybe because it isn't on that main street. We were welcomed in and seated right away. The margaritas were DELICIOUS. We shared the nachos and several different taco options including the birria- all delicious.

Difficult for me to rate. I loved my dish. I got a veggie bowl and the flavor was great. It was a 5. That being said, as a vegetarian who avoids as much cross contamination as possible, the tortilla chips share a fryer with fish (if you have an allergy, good to know). Many vegetarian and vegan dishes have a fried component. If you are t picky like me, then there are options. Service was fine.

Excellent bartender and food. Mahi mahi was perfect. Definitely recommend for drinks and dinner. Nice fire at bar

Amazing tequila bar. House salsa is delectable I could eat it for days. Bar staff incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Had quite a few margaritas.

I mean, if you have to sit at a bar and drink a bunch of margaritas and wolf down some nachos during a late afternoon, this is the place to do it. What kind of margaritas? A cucumber jalapeño, a Cadillac, a blood orange, a blackberry habanero and two smokies to be exact. Yes there were only two of us, but they were all soooo good.

Solid food options in this perfect spot on Meeting. It's was my second visit...after spending our evening out and about enjoying Holiday Decor, we popped in for a nibble. My husband got the delicious shrimp tacos and I had the carnitas quesadilla, also delicious. Of course your table starts with chips and salsa. Their salsa was smoky and a tad bit of heat, but just the greatest flavor!!! We really enjoyed ending our holiday date night at Matador!

I love a good tequila bar. Not that this one was not good but it wasn't great. On first impressions, I was disappointed. I ordered a margarita specifically with nothing on the rim and the bartender made with a salt/sugar rim. She changes glasses but all I tasted was the salt which I hate with a margarita. After that first, it seemed like every other drink wasn't being made to fill the glass. I ordered their Dip Flight app which was very tasty but for how congested it is to drive and park in the area, this wouldn't be my first choice for tequila bar. The service was good. The bartenders were nice but I had to pay to park and it wasn't cheap. It's a nice looking place and I could be spoiled from other much superior places but this would be the place I'd go to if my other 5 choices didn't work out.

What a cool spot! We popped in after a full day's adventure to grab one more drink and a few small plates to snack on. Everything came out super quickly and the service was excellent. We were all pleasantly surprised by the food - I don't think there was a single bite left after we devoured these dishes. Even if it was late in the evening, it was all well cooked, seasoned and nice and hot. The bar was really nice and they had a great selection. I'd definitely come back for a full dinner. Cheers!

I met a friend here in the middle of the week at 5pm for Happy Hour. While we had great cocktails (Hugo Spritz for me and Paloma for her) they were not part of the Happy Hour. Our server told us they have two "food" happy hours but no alcohol happy hours. We got steak nachos which were great. All in all it was a fun spot in the middle of touristy downtown- a great place to catch up with a friend!

What a greatly decorated new restaurant in Charleston! Stopped in for happy hour and got a Cadillac margarita which was very good and it was a great size for happy hour. I also got the dip trio. The salsa was delicious. I could've just had that, because the salsa was so good fresh and spiced just right. The dip trail consisted of black bean bean dip, which was good. I didn't care for the sour cream or salsa Verde swirl on the top as the sour cream kind of took away from the rest of the flavor. The queso was fair was a little thick and could've used a little more flavor in the guacamole was very good fresh. I love the cilantro and crumble cheese on top. The restaurant itself is really cool inside lots of fun decorations huge big bar area nice booth in a very large restaurant. If you're in the area I wish I had more room to try the tacos, but maybe on another visit.

To start Abigail, our waitress, was attentive, helpful, super sweet and just about the best waitress I have ever had. My wife and I ordered a round of cocktails, expecting the usual great description with subsequent lack luster drinks. Last night was different, midnight bloom which is their take on an old fashioned, but really in a different league; Smooth complex, and satisfying. My wife got the Ruby Ruby which is sort of a pomegranate martini with champagne. Refreshing and vibrant. For appetizers we had the blue crab fritters and the pork belly. The fritters were crispy, light, and full of crab flavor. Virtually no filler. I could have eaten a hundred. The pork belly was crispy, and rich without being too heavy. They also serve it in a white sauce that I was still thinking about the next day. For entrees we got the Roasted grouper and the pork shank. The grouper was maybe a bit overcooked and dry, but the accompanying butter beans stole the show. The were rich, and layered with flavor. I will never see the simple butter bean in the same way ever again. The pork was fall off the bone tender without being dry. The sauce it was served in was a masterpiece. There were hints of apple, berry, cinnamon, and many other notes, I would drink it by the glass if it was available. We split the gelato for dessert. Pure delight. Smooth, bursting with flavor, and leaving you wanting for more. All in all, except for a small misstep with the cook on the grouper a near perfect dinner. I would go there soon because a Michelin star can not be far off, and then getting a table will be a near impossibility.

The first meal we had was a bit of a work/get together meal. We ordered an assortment of items off of the menu and created a more tapas menu. The charcuterie board we picked the cheeses for and it was lovely. All as expected and quite surprised to find a cheddar I enjoyed. Came with some grapes, figs, nuts, honey and I think mustard. Glazed carrots were phenomenal. Heartily enjoyed the beet salad and thought the presentation was quite pretty. Lamb lettuce wraps are alright. Not my favorite of all the dishes served but delivered as promised, nicely cooked and presented. Spouse really liked the lamb wraps and were a stand out dish to them. Meatballs are excellent truly great texture and flavor. Escargot was a fun take on a classic dish. Finished with a unique strudel in its presentation it was quite pleasant. Spouse liked the peanut butter chocolate dessert. For brunch, I had the carrot ginger soup. Which I must say was a total delight. The soup had the hallmark texture and base flavor of the carrot ginger but it had a beautiful breath of savory and some heat seasoning wise to it. It was quite an elevated soup and heartily enjoyed! I followed the carrot soup with a French toast. I am all for softly scrambled eggs but the French toast was a touch undercooked. (I did not let the restaurant know or give them the chance to make right. I regularly eat soft boiled eggs and soft scrambled so I felt comfortable with consuming them.) Strawberries were ripe and tasty. The whipped cream was gorgeous in thickness and flavor. One in law had the caesar salad with croutons and grilled chicken. Their bowl was left clean so while they are not the talkative of sorts they did seem to enjoy it. Ordered a baguette with butter. Unfortunately the butter never made it to the table but the baguette was enjoyed. Spouse had the Azur burger with the side of tapas style potatoes. All was cooked properly to temperature and texture. Flavor and taste as promised. Wasn't their favorite dish at Azur as we had tried so many lovely dishes a few evenings before. But it did deliver on what was represented in the menu. Other in law had the quiche and a side salad. They liked the quiche and would order it again.

The dining room is beautiful, and the ambiance is excellent. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality level or price point of the restaurant. When entrées range from $65-$70 for fish, $80+ for steaks, and side dishes approach $14 or more, guests reasonably expect an elevated and attentive dining experience. Throughout the evening, our server seemed rushed and disengaged. Despite our efforts to be friendly and conversational, interactions felt brief and transactional. A drink order was delivered incorrectly, and rather than improving as the meal progressed, the service became increasingly impersonal. We never felt particularly welcomed or valued as guests. A special night out with a $300-$400 check should feel memorable for the right reasons. While the food and atmosphere were good, the overall experience fell short of what we have come to expect from restaurants operating in this category and at this price level. We are glad we gave it a try, but in the future we'll likely choose other Charleston-area restaurants that deliver a more polished and hospitality-focused experience when entertaining family and friends from out of town.
