I [heart] Senor Toro. As I write this review, it's a few hours before I fly back to the Land of Fruits and Nuts. It has been such a relief to have a real date with my wife: sitting down in a restaurant for an hour to rebond with each other and enjoy good food. You still can't do that everywhere in Vidor: Dairy Queen is still locked down. But you can be normal at Senor Toro. On the other hand, the experience isn't as good if the food is awful. Senor Toro is great. The Hunny had beans & nachos, and I had the Big Juan Burrito. The menu says "Serious eaters only", and that caught my interest. Our server wasn't sure that this beanpole could finish it all, the Hunny assured her that I have two hollow legs. I got a 12 inch burrito loaded with beef and rice, including beans and tomatoes and peppers, covered with spicy melted cheese. I've had Mexican food in Los Angeles, and Senor Toro's food is up to that level in quality. Juicy tasty beef, solid rice, nice cheese, all put together right. And yes, I finished it all. Total hit: $22. Another reason to eat here: The more we eat in restaurants that opened their dining rooms, and not at those that keep them closed, the sooner this mess will be all over. Absolutely the rudest people I have ever had to deal with. Online it says they're open till 10. You call them at 8:40, They're closed and they're not very nice about letting you know about it. Here's a grand idea....Maybe change the damn times? and whatever little girl with a attitude problem you got answering the phone needs to check herself. i called in my order on there website and placed my order and when i got there to pick it up my order was 129.33 . i showed the girl the website and she just said we dont use that page i said well i should get it at that price she said we cant take it down . as i was going to pay i looked behind the girl and on the table where thay put the pickup orders there was a rat as big as a plate when i say big im telling u it was big .ill never eat there again and if yall do check your food there might be rat poop in your food and check your prices there going to be wrong. dont eat here nasty place. read more

Very cute small restaurant with a nice atmosphere. I've never had bad service here. Very convenient drive thru window. The food is very tasty and fairly price for what you get. I will continue to return to this establishment. read more

Be ready to take a few days off. Two in our party had the same thing. Both were sick for 3 days. Sorry, Senor. Never again. I'm not telling you what "it" was, however to review the food? I don't like giving bad reviews, but I feel that they need to step it up! The place is small, but still comfortable. The sauce was old, chicken was disappointing and the food had no flavor. The guacamole was the (just awful) worst guacamole I've ever had. Absolutely not authentic at all, but the service wasn't bad... the waitress was nice. Yet, the wait for the food was extremely long. Overall, I don't recommend it.. but I hope that this helps the restaurant out for major improvements! read more

Went at lunchtime around noon. Asked the waiter which was best out of the tamales, tacos and enchiladas. He didn't hesitate when he said tamales, so I didn't hesitate to order. They were the best homemade pork tamales I've eaten in a long time. Would definitely go back to try some more things on the menu. read more

On vacation and wanted to stop at Mexican. The service was AWFUL chicken was dry beef was rubbery and shrimp was frozen. Do not go here unless you want food straight from the freezer onto the grill for double the price. read more

I have eaten here many times through the years. If you want decent TexMex out of a can, for a reasonable price, then this is a good choice. Like most restaurants like this service varies with a visit, but generally good. Out of the two Mexican restaurants inn town, this one is light years better! read more

This is one of two Mexican restaurants in town of the 2 we prefer this one by far. The staff here are really nice and the place is really clean. The food is good too. They have a variety to offer, and the prices are worth what you get and the chips and salsa as well. The only down side is it get warm in there really easily. But over all not bad. The place is in the small side, but cozy. I would recommend a table if your on the larger size as the booths are fairly small. You can get out for under $35 with a family of 4(2 adults/2kids)... The service is always good never had a problem. Updated: Since the remodel, the place has changed. They now have air conditioning which works with it being SE Texas. The downside to this remodel is now their prices have gone up which makes them comparable to Casa Ole. They also redid their menu, taking a large portion of items off. 1 of which was there combination plates. They don't even offer those anymore. The food was decent but the sizes were smaller. Im not a fan anymore I would rather go to Casa Ole and pay the same price, get bigger portions. read more
