On Saturdays and Sunday they do a full breakfast starting at 7 AM. The best you've had. Always check with them to see what the is on the bar and they do catering as well. Making our way to the beach for a few days we ran across this place. Just poppin in to use the restrooms we decided to stay and eat. The smell of home cooking we just could t resist. (1:30 on a Tuesday) Sunday dinner at Grandma's with all the fixings. Fried Chicken, Turkey, baked chicken, ribs, pork, Chicken n Rice ... Cabbage done 2 different ways, collards , black eye peas with stewed tomatoes , yams , sweet potato casserole, navy beans , succotash, Lima beans, Plus a full salad bar. The one thing they were missing was mashed potatoes. ( Cream potatoes if your from NC ) I ask the lady taking care of the bars if they had MASH potatoes and she said no not today. I didn't think another things about it. Just loaded up on more collards and sweet potato casserole. About 15 or minutes later our server and another lady comes to our table with GUESS ... yes cream potatoes a bowl for me and my husband. Oh my word if that ain't Southern Hospitality I don't know what is. That deserves more than Yelps 5 stars . They were pipin hot and so good . I can not recommend this place enough. The pancakes are fluffy and hand brushed with butter before coming off the griddle. Large selection of breakfast and lunch items, fresh and hot. Fried chicken was incredible, a must try. The food was definitely down home cooking. Momma must have been cooking in the back. Ribs were falling off the bone and had a sweet bbq sauce. Fried chicken was moist and perfectly seasoned. The only issue I had was that the mashed mashed potatoes didn't have much salt and pepper. There were several selections of cake, but the best was a zinger cake. It had a strawberry frosting with coconut sprinkles. I also tasted the chocolate cake and the frosting tasted homemade. The spice cake was good as well. Yes I tasted all 3 just to figure out which was the best. Of course the zinger cake was the winner with its fresh strawberry topping and coconut. We stopped here around 11am for the first time. Let's start with the pros: the fried chicken was very good, and there is a very nice man at a grill making eggs to order. The buffet looked clean and so did the bathrooms. Cons: when we arrived, we were greeted by a woman who was eating a sausage link with her hands and took a personal phone call on her cell phone via Bluetooth headset around her neck. She helped us while simultaneously talking on her phone and talking with food in her mouth. Tables had very old and grungy looking hot sauce and pepper bottles. Sanitation score was an 87%. Loved the food but it's nasty. Everything is greasy sticky and they have an 85/Grade B. Had to go through dinnerware to find clean pieces, table had not been cleaned between diners and they were not too busy. Staff was sitting and talking and we had to ask to have table cleaned. Thank heaven for southern food. It's convenient location and ample parking made it appealing but I still wasn't sure. I had heard this was going to be the new family spot for breakfast but I still was skeptical. I arrived to a friendly greeting and reasonable price for a breakfast buffet. I was happy to see eggs several types of ways but my only concern was the eggs with cheese( real cheese). Everything was freshly made and hot straight from the kitchen. I wanted to go back and kiss the cook but I figured I would just tip the waitress well. I loved the fresh fruit that looked like it came straight from the garden. The lady at the register was taking a personal call while I was trying to tell her I wanted two buffets. She smiled and kept on talking. The place was extremely hot. Hotter than it was outside. Thats pretty bad. I get the hometown feel they were going for, but in August without the a/c going was a bit too much. I pushed forward and wrote off the issues I just mentioned. We paid up and were ready to eat when the hostess tells everyone there that they had a huge order for chicken and they didn't have any ready for us. She said it would be ready in about 15 minutes. You have to realize this is 11:45 on Saturday morning and the people coming there are ready to eat. Had she it off the phone before I paid and told us that there wasn't any chicken I would had left. Again, I wrote off the third Oman and moved on to eat whatever was available. The food absolutely sucked. I tried to eat the fish that they had and could not do it. The person that made the fish dipped it in batter and then buried under a mound of salt. It was beyond salty. My wife was facing the kitchen door and she noticed one of the cooks came out into the dining area and was talking to a waitress while eating a piece of chicken. We were there for just over 30 minutes. What was that all about? The only thing that was good in this place was our waitress and the chocolate cake. Everything else was terrible. I gave it two stars when I probably should've just done one. We ate what we could and when we left there still wasn't any chicken out on the line. This has been my second time coming to Sensation's. I had quite a few choices for my meat free day. I chose both breakfast, and lunch option. I ordered a veggie omelet. We were disappointed considering the high reviews we read. On the plus side, the service was excellent and friendly. And the sweet tea was just what NC tea should be. Beyond that, it wasn't good.
