About 2 weeks ago my daughter shared her pastrami sandwich with me. I told her it was the best pastrami sandwich I ever had and asked where she got it. She tells me LaCascia's in Medford. So today when deciding what to eat for lunch I thought about having that awesome pastrami again. To my great disappointment it was the absolute worst pastrami sandwich I ever had. Tough as nails, sliced too thick, overcooked and nothing like I shared with my daughter. It was more like eating beef jerky. How does a place go from being the best to the worst in just two weeks? This is a picture of the cake I ordered from your Medford location on March 4, 2025, I have sent numerous emails and left a review on their website.Today is May 2 and I still haven't heard anything from them. The cake had a special message to celebrate my nephew's acceptance into a sought after school, and I requested gold writing stating "Congratulations Declan." I appreciate the kindness and friendliness of the staff member who assisted me, and we had a good discussion about the occasion. I was not shown the cake before paying, it was boxed and taped and i was on my way. However, upon opening the cake at home for the surprise announcement party, I was very disappointed to see that the writing went down the side of the cake. Had I been informed that the message "Congratulations" was too long, I would have gladly opted for a shorter version such as "Congrats Declan." I have heard wonderful things about your bakery, which is why I chose to stop by, and I had high expectations for the quality of the product delivered. I believe it's important for a bakery of your reputation to ensure that every order meets the standards that your customers expect. Ordered eggplant sub and Italian sub for lunch today. Pretty good. But this review is really about the customer service at the register. The girl at the register with air pods in ( she's answering the phone I guess while also taking orders in person) was so rude. She looked pissed off in general and was not friendly at all. Same for the man (seemed to be the manager) behind the counter. So unfriendly and looked generally annoyed. Prices are high everywhere, lots of good Italian food in the area. Not only was the tone abhorrent, but then she slammed the phone down mid sentence. When I asked about the tone on the phone and asked to speak to the manager, neither had anything to say that explained the behavior. Went to Medford Lacascias tonight for steaktips subs which we usually love, usually delicious a tender, not tonight, tonight's subs were very disappointing, the steak was so tough it was almost unedible, also order slices of the bakery pizza, not good the cheese was so thick and gooey, no like La cascias to ever be like this usually the food is the best ,very delicious, I drive from Revere just to get their subs and pizza and pastry, but tonight I feel like It was a waste of my time, gas and money. Won't be going back there for a while, it's a shame I always loved them :( read more

I don't really keep sweets at my place, I make myself walk to a bakery when I'm craving something. Over the years I've gotten different types of Italian cookies from here, my preference is usually the cookies with jam. All very good! This year, I did get their ricotta pie as my thanksgiving contribution. They topped it off with powdered sugar, which was a nice touch. Everyone who tried it raved about it. Fresh, rich, and everyone was asking me where I got it from. So happy it was a hit! They have such a big collection of pies this time of year (pumpkin, strawberry shortcake, chocolate chip ricotta, minced, etc), but as the holidays get closer, they start running out real quick. I called ahead and asked to put the pie on the side for me to pick up, which they gladly did. Very affordable too, $20. Also, the people who work here are so fun, funny, and amazing. I would totally be their friend in real life. They also have a mini grocery section of Italian goods & frozen foods. Looks like they do subs & hearty lunches. There is no seating inside, so it's more of a take away spot. + there's street parking. read more

Earlier today, a man came into your store and ordered a meatball sub and a chicken salad. His order was $10.65, he paid with a $20 bill, and once the register was open, he added a $1 bill, and because she took a moment to count the amount of change, he took to Facebook to make fun of her. I've worked in retail before. I know that when someone does this, you have to be careful because they might be a con artist trying to steal from the register, and you have to be extra sure to get it right so that your own drawer isn't short. I'm posting this because I don't think that your staff deserved to be treated this way. It sounds like she did an incredible job under the circumstances, despite him trying to be difficult and hold up the rest of the line. As it so happens, I have friends in Medford, and I often travel to the Boston area for work. I will be sure to stop in and tip extra next time I'm in the area. read more

This place makes a solid tiramisu. It had the right balance of everything. Some Tiramisu's are too soft, too custardy. This is just the right amount of firmness, just the right amount of espresso. While it did not blow my mind, it is everything you would expect from a solid tiramisu. read more

You told me steak tip sub. I listened. And it was good. At $9, this little sandwich that could is deceptively large if you look under the lid (see grotesquely unflattering photo proof below). Lifting the beast is your best bet - there's no less than half to three-quarters of a pound of house-marinated tips, grilled (read: caramelized) to order and shoveled between the Scali sheets. Fifty cents to dumb it down with good ol' American cheese is money well spent. Bakery case is limited on the sweets, and what they have often repeat themselves. Raspberry elephant ear? Cool. Raspberry twist? It's the ear as a stick. Cool. That said, it's a proper baked good, with a heavy sugar crust. Bouncing off walls, commence. Pro tip: they've a prepped meals cooler for a fast dinner, frozen pastas from a local maker and orders are save in the onsite cloud. Put in for a sandwich, leave your name, shop around and check out on the bakery side - everything will be listed to your order. We're living in the future! Super easy to order ahead over the phone and it was ready for us to pick up quickly. Came here ordered some pastries for a little celebration. Got a box of 13 or so and some fresh scali bread. Most of the pastries were very good but most notably the carrot cake one and the chocolate turtle were a little dry and underwhelming. I especially liked the Oreo and tiramisu pastries. Woke up very late on a Sunday. Rolled into La Cascia's with coffee in hand, sunglasses still on. 'Am I too late for rolls?!' 'yeah, the only ones I have are infront of the deli case. They wake up early, ya know and come in and buy um by the dozens...' 'I know! I slept in...' After consulting on what my rolls were to be used for (in this case: meatballs/sauce) he offered to cut up big figure8 rolls for me. Then some other guy chimes in: 'I got some in the oven, but it'll be at least 10-15 minutes til they are done... Can you wait?' I waited. Finished my coffee. And walked away with a dozen rolls ($3.00!) that were so warm I had to hold the bags by the very top so as not to burn myself, or squish them. God. I love this place! Not enough people know that they have the best subs in Medford. Steak tips are awesome - they use their own rub. The chicken d'parma is amazing - chicken cutlets with prosciutto and mozzarella.
