This is an institution for Italian deli, sandwiches, and red sauce. The jumbo sandwich is ridiculously large. It's basically 3 portions for most people. The meatballs are huge and delicious, the sauce is great and the chicken Parmesan hits just right. It's more of a store/takeout shop than a restaurant so don't plan to dine in. There isn't a parking lot, but there's plenty of street parking nearby. You can also buy their sauce and soups among other things in their refrigerated section. Something's are pretty good value, but $13 for a quart of soup is a little pricey. read more

When you step in it feels like you're in Italy...the music, the people, the decor, the food, the smell. I ordered the Deluxe Imported Italian and it was the one of the best, if not the best Italian Grinder I've ever had. I literally couldn't close the sandwich to eat it. I had to hold it from the bottom! It came on a soft roll and they use nothing but the best meats and cheese, cherry peppers, and oil and vinegar. We also ordered a chicken parm and eggplant combo sandwich. The eggplant was tender and plentiful. The chicken was excellent! It was a messy sandwich, but so worth it. Next time, I will stick with the Deluxe Italian and try the chicken parm sandwich without the eggplant. The eggplant was great but I couldn't get enough of that chicken parm. Its just gets worse. I moved to Florida years ago, EVERY time I've come back since i have come buy and bought their pepperoni and carious cheese. I bring a cooler, pack it up and good to go.. Last visit, i noticed a difference in the color of the pepperoni sticks. I asked the deli if it was ok, they told me, yeah, those are fresh. I got home, opened the first one, it was slimmy and smelled terrible. Opened the next one, same, opened the 3rd, the same. Threw out the 8 sticks. I called, whomever i spoke to pretty much told me they must have went bad in transit. I guess they dont last a cooler from the store to a hotel in a fridge to a cooler to orlando. As someone from New Jersey I've struggled to find an excellent sub shop in the Boston area but I finally found a place I LOVE. I ordered a large Deluxe Italian and a small Chicken Cutlet & Prosciutto Milanese Caprese to go from their website. It was super easy to order and pickup and these subs were HUGE!!!! They were both absolutely delicious. I didn't take much time in the store but they seemed to have a good select of Italian groceries and were quite busy with customers picking up sandwiches! I grew up eating at Bob's and always loved the people and the food, so it honestly hurts to write this. The pizza I got recently was nothing like what I remember -- dry, bland, and the sauce tasted like something straight out of a jar. A square slice of Ellio's would've been better, and that's saying something. It's not just the pizza either. The chicken marsala was cooked wrong, and the steak tips were so fatty the grease was dripping out of the bag. The staff is still great, but the quality of the food has dropped so much it's sad to see a place I grew up with go downhill like this. I really hope they turn it around. read more

A hearty and versatile Italian takeout spot near Tufts, also located conveniently off I-93 right outside of Boston. What I really enjoy about this spot is that you can get a great cold cut sandwich - I had the Prosciutto Caprese which lasted me for lunch and dinner - as well as various hot dishes, my co worker ordered the lamb and there were various pasta items also. The Italian subs here are legit. They do not skimp on the ingredients - the mortadella, the prosciutto, the salami, the buff mozz, and on and on. The quality just shows out. On to the other items: the mozzi sticks are on the salty side, but they hit the spot. The fries are coated in some sort of batter; they taste alright (who cares when the subs are so delish?). Pastas were fine - the kids liked the bolognese, even though it was just marinara with some flecks of meat tossed in. Desserts were a bit of a meh; cheesecake was passable - the carrot cake and chocolate cake were sweet Crisco-bakery duds. I came here when I first moved to Malden 2017 and it was definitely a hype to get a italian/sub from here. Since it's been so long I went last night and got some subs before an event. I decided to go in and order vs online. There is a guy standing taking the orders, I got a small veggie teriyaki stir fry no cheese. It was good, better than most vegg sandwiches because it wasn't wet. But that may because I think it was missing the teriyaki sauce. My gut had told me I should have added balsamic, but made a mistake and forgot to add. Big ole french braid bread. It's like a market in there so you can get some deli meats, marinated meats, salads, pastas, calzones to go so much more. I think next time I come i'll deff be getting more of their market stuff. Would definitely recommend them for a company lunch. I was able to find street parking nearby but may be a little tricky. No parking lot. read more

The sandwiches in general are terrific and I try to change my pattern, but the chicken cutlet with a little sauce and cheese sometimes, or with onion, lettuce and mayo at other times calls my name and as soon as I enter the shop, I know I'll have my regular. GARBAGE!!! there were more of vegetables than steak in the sandwich and I know for a fact, the green peppers are canned and I guess it was too much trouble to cut the sandwich in half. A cool little Italian market in Medford. They don't have seating inside so you'll need to get your food to go. They have a deli where they sell you sandwiches and pizza slices. They also have an area like a market where you can grab various Italian foods and check out at a cashier. There were uncooked pastas, lasagnas, tiramisu, and other Italian seasonings/herbs. For the deli, this place sells many types of sandwiches. I don't remember the name of my sandwich but it was probably one of the more popular items. It came with a ton of deli meat topped with sour peppers, salt, pepper, oil, and cheese. Might've cost me around $20 but that was for one of the larger sizes. I'm sure you can spend closer to $10 if you want a smaller sandwich but I'd imagine even the smaller sandwiches are huge. The large sandwich I ordered I had to divide into two meals cause it was so large. It's actually a lot of meat so I had to remove some so the sandwich fits into my mouth easier. I wouldn't say this was the highest quality sandwich but it's really worth your money. The pizza I got was on the thicker side and it was just okay. It's premade so you just order it and they put it in a to-go box for you. I go the chicken parm sandwich another time and it was also really huge. Been going here for years was always dependable for a good sandwich, however as of lately, my experiences there have been terrible. Called to order a sandwich, was told 15 minutes, got there in 20, floor man and 3 cooks congregated at counter talking, rude is an understatement, asked for my sandwich, they replied it would be a few minutes, and BEGAN to make it at that point. This place has gone so far downhill in the last few years, totally living off their reputation from years past, I left as this is the third time something like this has happened, very rude counter help! Whenever I think of Bob's, I think of my mother. She grew up in Medford and Bob's was a family favorite. Going to get sandwiches here with her was always a treat. Going here will always bring up fond memories. Today I ordered a large house Italian with lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper. The quality of the genoa salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone and all the toppings speak for themselves. Honestly, it's just a really delicious sandwich. The staff is really helpful and friendly. Ok, after a disastrous experience with eggplant a few months back, I decided to give the shop another try. It was awful. Got a grilled pastrami sub. Nothing but pure fat hanging over the edge of the bread. I wanted to puke looking at it, not to mention the grease dripping off it. Ugh. I really love coming here, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, always asking if I need assistance right as I walk in. I've always come near closing time but all the signage indicates that this place can get busy during peak hours and parking could also be difficult to find. Prices may seem high but the frozen food items are very dense and the deli offerings are reasonably stacked. All their fresh homemade products list the ingredients and expiration dates. read more
