I feel very fortunate I decided to go with Sentri Institute for my 8-hour CCW Firearm Safety class. I am from San Diego County but made the drive up to join my friend who was also taking the class. (Paul's class is authorized for San Diego County residents trying to obtain their CCWs). Paul is the man! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about the many laws surrounding firearms, but he is also extremely effective in ensuring you grasp the proper technique for handling and shooting; he wants you to succeed. I saw immediate results on the range after incorporating his basic tips and definitely feel more confident handling my pistol. I also like that he showed things not to do when handling a firearm by showing some popular Youtube videos where the person had bad technique. Lastly, there was an issue with my certificate paperwork I submitted to the SD Sheriff Office (my fault) and Paul took it upon himself to call them directly and get it sorted so they could mail me my CCW the same day. I chose this class because it was local and I like the fact I didn't have to drive far away for the firing range. Paul gave us tips from holding the gun properly to his "cheek to bicep" tip which helped with more consistent aiming. I chose to take the CCW class with Paul because I wanted to support the local business. I looked through Yelp and Instagram at first and was convinced that Paul was the right instructor. His course exceeded my expectations. We started class in the morning via Zoom call. He went over the basics, laws, and psychology regarding firearms. There were discussions around each topic backed up with real-life examples. I completed the first half feeling more educated on the components of concealed carrying. We started the second half in a classroom at the range. We practiced some drills where Paul coached us on correct form, drawing the weapon, staying consistent, and mentality. We finished off the day by qualifying. Where Paul corrected our form and identified our weaknesses to dial in our shooting and qualifying.
