We went to Seoul Pocha for a weeknight dinner and got seated super fast. The place was about half full, with K-pop music playing and music videos on the screens. You can sometimes hear the karaoke rooms, which was kinda funny but not too distracting. Portions here are huge and every dish could easily feed two or more people. The four of us ordered four dishes and still had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. The spicy squid and pork bulgogi was one of my favorites. It came out sizzling and the sauce was really good. Just the right amount of spice for someone like me with low spice tolerance. It mixed really well with rice and had a good mix of larger and smaller pieces of pork and squid. The eel rice bowl was just okay. The eel itself had a lot of tiny bones, which made it annoying to eat, and I wished the rice had that crispy clay-pot texture. There was also a lot of onion and only 2-3 pieces of eel, and the rice was a bit mushy. The spicy jjamppong was insanely spicy but really flavorful. My cousin, who puts hot sauce on everything, inhaled it. The broth was delicious, and the bowl was huge. I could only handle a few bites since it was too spicy for me, but if you love heat, this is the one to get. The jajangmyeon is a must-order every time. Huge portion, super tasty, and the noodles were soft but not overcooked. Simple toppings but always hits the spot. Only downside is that every dish has a ton of onions, but overall the food was good and portions were generous. Great spot for sharing plates with a group.
The food was very good and the atmosphere was nice. The service was good as well. The tteokbokki was very spicy, and usually I like a medium level of spice, but it was still tasty. The cheese corn was sooooo good. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good Korean food in the Gainesville area.
The staff is really nice. A little disappointed that as a Korean restaurant they do not have banchas. The dolsot bibimbop was okay, but the egg was overcooked (yolk was solid but should be runny) and would have liked a little more bulgogi in it, and more veggies. Spouse got the Fried Chicken in the house sauce. It was $30.90 and did not include anything except chicken, no rice and no veggies. You can pay an additional $2 for a side of rice. The menu states it is a whole chicken, however it was only white meat, no thighs or legs. We asked the waitress and she said it was only white meat, the last time we checked, a "whole" chicken has both dark and white meat. It was a little overpriced, we have tried it but wouldn't go back again.
Coming from California, I struggled to find any restaurants in Gainesville that matched the taste and quality of food I was used to. Upon walking in, this restaurant gave the same vibes as the usual korean bars you'd find in Cali, it made me feel right at home. First of all, the service was amazing. The hostess explained to menu to my boyfriend and I very well, gave recommendations on what was popular, and answered any questions we had. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes and enthusiastic. The different employees all came over checking in periodically to ask if the food was good and seeing if we needed anything else. They were also all friendly and hilarious. My boyfriend got the padak (korean fried chicken) and it came with two sauces. The yellow one was so good! The padak here tasted even better than the ones I've had in Cali, which says a lot because Cali has a ton of KFC. The hostess wasn't lying when she said they had the best fried chicken in town. The portion of it was a lot! It was enough to share with about 4 people. My boyfriend ate about half of it though because it was so good. Their Spicy Jjampong (Spicy Seafood Noodles) was AMAZING. It was so flavorful and the portion was sooo big. I could've shared it with my boyfriend and we both would've been full from it. They're very generous with the seafood in it as well. There was A LOT of clam, octopus, shrimp, and two mussels. The mussels tasted so good! It also stayed hot for so long, as it sat there for about ten minutes while I ate the padak and it was still steaming hot when I finally ate it. Lastly, their dessert cocktails are amazing as well. We got their Melona one, and my boyfriend typically doesn't like Melon flavored things, but he ended up drinking like 80% of my cocktail-- that's how good it was. Overall, if you're looking for authentic korean food, big portions, good vibes, and amazing service, come here. This is the one spot that's a MUST TRY in Gainesville. EDIT: also, we were struggling to pack our food at the end (the jjampong) and they helped us do it and even gave tips on how to do it cleanly !!
Food 2/5: we ordered the okonomiyaki, Korean fried chicken, marinade pork. The okonomiyaki was very dry. I was really looking forward to it however it was honestly very disappointing. The Korean fried chicken was cooked well and had a good crunch on it, but the flavor was very much on the ketchup side, which I didn't really like. The pork was Marinated very well however it was on the chewer side. Overall, food was a little disappointing. Service 2/5 the service was not good. Our server was unattended, put in the wrong order, never came to the table so that we can ask him questions or to request other things. I ended up flagging down a server that was not at our table because our server was nowhere to be found. Ambiance 5/5 very nicely decorated place. It is a nicer restaurant that you can go on a date too however, I wouldn't really recommend it as the quality of the food and the quality of service is subpar.
This place had good reviews and we've wanted to try it for a while. After our experience, I will never be going back. The most regrettable part of our experience was the service. Our server is the one who actually sat us, in a table at the very front of the restaurant, which makes it even more notable that somehow she completely forgot about us. She then sat another table in the back. She passed us and said she'd be right over with waters. She poured waters. Made eye contact with my husband. Then walked right past us to the table she sat after us with the waters. She took their order. 15 minutes passed. We were getting ready to leave when she walked past us, looked at our table, and suddenly gasped and apologized for "completely forgetting" us. She asked if we were ready to order. We were hungry and it was late, so we ordered. I wish we hadn't. She then got a message on her phone, pulled it out to look at it, and apologized (seriously?). She put our orders in. Another table was walking up to her to place their order, because apparently our's was not a unique experience. Sometime later, we got our waters. My husband had also gotten a soju cocktail. He asked about it, and she said they were busy but they were working on it. After a short time, my pork jeyuk came out. I was looking around because any other Korean restaurant I've ever eaten at, the dishes come with rice and kimchee dishes. Several minutes passed and I could not catch our server. When she did come back to the dining room she had two rice bowls and the kimchee. She told my husband his was coming soon. At this point, we still hadn't had the dumplings or corn dog which were ordered as appetizers... then several minutes passed with his rice getting cold before the other three items came out together. The spicy octopus dumplings were not spicy whatsoever, if the correct ones were actually ordered because they have a non-spicy version too. It was unclear if they just weren't steamed long enough or sat in the window, but they were cold and tasted like they were just out of the freezer section. The corndog wasn't super hot or cheese melted. Our dishes looked good, and they were just okay. The pork jeyuk was a bit oily and tasted like they went overboard with the white pepper. The pork and squid bulgogi had decent flavor, but had jalapeños (not typically in Korean food) and some of the squid was chewy. Overall, just not very authentic. As we're eating, we again ask about the soju cocktail. Our server says they were busy but she'll just go make it. When she comes back, she apologizes and says the other girl forgot to make it and chuckles... but says she'll "try to get a discount" since it came nearly at the end of our meal. Check comes. No discount... at this point we just want to pay and leave. When she comes back for the check, she apologizes again and says she couldn't get the discount but we can have a free packaged ice cream. Our overall experience had been so poor at this point we just wanted to leave. Needless to say, this was the one and only time we will eat here.

Owner and Staff are good people. Its easy to support a business like this. Super fun and great food. Small authentic plates Korean, Chinese, Japanese and im sure more. Have a few drinks and laughs. We ate everything in site. We were in the private room that is actually a karaoke room. Had a meeting that night but all everyone wanted to do was sing They even made us stuff not on the menu. Work with the ownership to get what you want. Awesome place and i am going back for sure. read more
Let's go straight to the point- seoul pocha is the best Korean food in town. Of course it may disappoint you if you are coming from elsewhere and visiting Gainesville, but it's Gainesville, which is nowhere near LA or New York. With the ingredients available, I think they are trying to make Korean food as good as they can. Tried few of their plates already, which were decent. They also have various options too. Overall, this is my go to place for Korean food! read more

Located in Gainesville at one end of 13th (of sorts), this Korean restaurant lets you grill your own food or order ready to eat meals. We came for lunch and left so full and with leftovers. Everything was tasty and service was good but sometimes it was hard to get our waiters attention. Looking forward to trying more items when I'm in the area again. read more
We've been coming to Gainesville for four years since our oldest started at UF. We've passed this place so many times and have been iffy about going in to try it, but finally decided to do it this Saturday night. First off, the service was great! The host let us know they were very busy and there was a wait, but we decided to stay since it looked like good food coming out of the kitchen and had a very cute atmosphere with two karaoke rooms in the front, a little bar and K-pop playing on a big TV. When we were finally seated, the host asked if it was our first time having Korean food (no) and first time at their restaurant (yes). He thanked us for staying and waiting for a table since we'd never been there before and made great recommendations. We got the fried chicken and beef bulgogi. Both were AMAZING- especially with their house-made kimchi and special hot sauce. The bulgogi was so good, I didn't get a picture before we had finished it. Luckily we have another kid at UF so we'll have two more years to come back. We're so glad we finally tried it here! read more

I had been wanting to check out Seoul Pocha for weeks. I saw the hype on social media and wanted in because I love Korean food. I was intrigued because this is a restaurant/karaoke combo business. You wont find bibimbap here. Seoul Pocha focuses more on pub fair and grilling. I ordered the corn cheese, hot dog, and cheese egg roll. The corn cheese was good, but I think needed some kind of seasoning or sauce. The hot dog was great! I love gamja hot dog (basically a giant mozzarella stick). The cheese egg roll was a bit disappointing. The flavor was pretty mild. I wish I had ordered the pajeon, because the tiny bit I had from my friend tasted amazing. I think Seoul Pocha could benefit from updating their menu to have more description to the dishes. Not everyone in town is familiar with many Korean dishes, and the sparse descriptions may intimidate people from ordering. Also, it would be really helpful to have an indicator if something is vegetarian or vegan. read more

Finally got to check this place out with some friends. We had some beers and ordered a few plates. My wife and I split the huge cheese egg roll, the corn cheese, and the Korean hot dog with mozzarella. As good as the cheese egg roll looked, I was underwhelmed by it. The corn cheese needed seasoning. The Korean hot dog was pretty good. My friends ordered the seafood pancake which was pretty good. There were several other options that I would have liked to order, perhaps on another visit. We plan to return for karaoke and different items, maybe that visit will be better. My biggest issue was the price. Sure most of the items are decently large, but a majority of the prices are quite high. I understand that the purpose of this place is to eat family-style, however this is a problem when the bill can only be split a maximum of 2 ways. If you're with multiple parties, someone has to foot a bill that's at least $100, then be paid back via Venmo/CashApp/etc. Make sure you are aware of this before coming. I think Seoul Pocha is worth a visit, as long as you know what to expect. I hope to update this review after my next visit. read more

It's rare to find a place that serves an eel entree, and they did not disappoint! I ordered the eel with rice instead of the full eel dish, which is a third of the portion. Fresh scallions balanced the savory umami flavor of eel. The protein was cooked perfectly, so tender and flavorful. If your favorite sushi is unagi this is definitely what to order! I don't know why, and maybe it's temporary, but one weird thing about this place was the drinks were all bottled. Thus, I deducted a star from my review. Even the water, though they didn't charge for bottled. I was disappointed the sake and beer were served this way as well. read more

As soon as you enter you are welcomed with soft Kpop music. We went on a Saturday and waited 50 min but let me tell you it was well worth it . I love the minimalistic vibes and how the lighting sets the tone for the environment . Great date night place or just catching up with friends . Server was knowledgeable and friendly , he offered great recommendations. Highly recommend this quaint Korean spot to everyone . Pictured: Fried chicken green onion , Jap-Chae (shrimp stir fried glass noodles), Korea dogs and Yakisoba . The fried chicken was so crunchy but light and airy . It can with a honey mustard type of sauce with a little spicy kick. Juicy chicken I was addicted honestly . The glass noodles are made from sweet potato and the vegetables were nicely sautéed and seasoned. Had to try the Korean dog after seeing all the hype lately and it was a sweet and salty treat that I never knew I needed ; would have loved a longer cheese pull but it was still incredible treat. The yakisoba noodles were saucy and I think it was beef in there but not sure since I didn't ask but it was so flavorful I just couldn't stop eating it . I recommend you get a couple things to split between friends or family because it is worth trying a sample of meals I promise . read more
This brand new Gainesville restaurant has exceeded my expectations. With hours lasting till 12-1 am, I'm excited to come here to eat with my friends for late night snacks! The restaurant just had their grand opening last night. We visited during grand opening and the wait times were long but the staff were extremely kind. The manager gave all of us free beers and free drinks for the inconvenience. As for the food, the portions are huge! For the price, the amount of food given and the quality makes it worth it. I would highly recommend trying the jajangmyeon and the okonomiyaki! Definitely go and give this place a visit! read more

Atmosphere: plenty of parking space, their lot is pretty huge. They have some private karaoke rooms available that you can also order food in. Each table has built in electric stoves. Food/price: I would say there's a lot of Korean bar-type foods available that all pair well with beer or soju. We tried: - Spicy pork belly ($17): 2.5/5, I was a bit underwhelmed with the flavors of this dish. I was expecting a smoky and spicy flavor for the pork belly but there was no smokiness. The spice level was okay, but it didn't have that deep, rich flavor I'm used to. There are veggies mixed in with the dish and it comes sizzling on a plate. Probably wouldn't get this again. It comes with one bowl of rice, extra is an additional cost. - Fried chicken with green onion ($25): very good. You actually get a lot of chicken which is great, it comes topped with slivers of green onion. They provide a hot mustard type sauce which is actually pretty good with the chicken. Each bite was moist but crispy. Would definitely recommend. Overall, I think I would come back to try their tteokboki and definitely the chicken again. read more
I tried Seoul Pocha's new lunch menus and again both menus are on point! As usual, they make real Korean food for Korean people. Very few Americanized items here. First one is K-style popcorn chicken and their actual name is Yangnyum Chicken (marinated fried chicken). And they taste just like Yangnyum chicken i used to get in Seoul, Korea. The second one is Jajangmyun, which is a Korean-Chinese fusion black bean noodle. Despite being one of the most popular fast food items in Korea, it has been very difficult to find good Jajangmyun in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa or Orlando so I had to drive 5.5 hours to Duluth, GA near Atlanta to have this. But thanks to Seoul Pocha, we finally have a good Jajangmyun in the state of Florida. It was about the same level as H mart or Mega Mart food courts. read more

Loved the food and great service. It's a casual place, and the food came out super fast. We loved all three dishes. We had the padak (Korean fried chicken)- it was super crispy and the house bbq sauce was savory and delicious. I had l never had okonomiyaki before, and it was delicious. We will definitely be back to try more- excellent addition to the Gainesville food scene. read more

Took my husband there for the first time and he's not a big food adventurer, but he loved everything about this place. He really loved the food. I stand by my first review, the spicy octopus dumplings are a MUST have! The Korean fried chicken is literally the best I've ever had! The waitress was amazing even though she was slammed with tables. This place is just great. If you're on the fence... don't be and try it out! read more
