I'm pretty inexperienced with Korean cuisine, so I wasn't sure what to expect here. It ended up being really good. We shared a creamy stew that was delicious. We also got okonomiyaki that was very tasty as well. The service was pretty good and friendly. We didn't get a chance to use the built-in hot plate on our table which was a small let down. Of course it may disappoint you if you are coming from elsewhere and visiting Gainesville, but it's Gainesville, which is nowhere near LA or New York. It's taken me some to write this review because I sincerely do not like giving companies a bad review with only 1 try. So, please take my review with a grain of salt and make the decision on your on to go and give them a try. Ambiance: Lots of parking. Decent amount of seating. Also, has a karaoke bar. Food: The food according to my friend was good, and when I was finally able to eat mine it was good too. I'll get into it with the service section. Service: The service was horrible, which is why I cannot ever step foot back in this place. First, I asked questions and repeated stated to the server (a woman) that I do not eat meat and specifically cannot eat pork. When I ordered, I said repeatedly no meat in this dish. The dish came out and it had meat in it. I told the server, and she immediately said they couldn't remake it because I didn't tell her. My friend was furious for me and said I did ask and say it repeatedly. I just picked out the chicken because unlike pork I cannot eat the dish once it touches it. We paid and left. I get a phone call a few days later saying that I did not pay, and when I checked my credit card I see a charge. They said that I paid for the wrong dish. Long story short. The server charged the wrong amounts to me and my friend. I explained everything that happened and that I shouldn't be held to a mistake made by their server. I ended up having to go back in and pay the difference. It was a disheartening and frustrating experience. I wish the food wasn't pricey, and the service is better. I had been wanting to check out Seoul Pocha for weeks. I saw the hype on social media and wanted in because I love Korean food. I was intrigued because this is a restaurant/karaoke combo business. You wont find bibimbap here. Seoul Pocha focuses more on pub fair and grilling. I ordered the corn cheese, hot dog, and cheese egg roll. The corn cheese was good, but I think needed some kind of seasoning or sauce. The hot dog was great! I love gamja hot dog (basically a giant mozzarella stick). The cheese egg roll was a bit disappointing. The flavor was pretty mild. I wish I had ordered the pajeon, because the tiny bit I had from my friend tasted amazing. I think Seoul Pocha could benefit from updating their menu to have more description to the dishes. Not everyone in town is familiar with many Korean dishes, and the sparse descriptions may intimidate people from ordering. It's rare to find a place that serves an eel entree, and they did not disappoint! I ordered the eel with rice instead of the full eel dish, which is a third of the portion. Fresh scallions balanced the savory umami flavor of eel. The protein was cooked perfectly, so tender and flavorful. If your favorite sushi is unagi this is definitely what to order! I don't know why, and maybe it's temporary, but one weird thing about this place was the drinks were all bottled. Thus, I deducted a star from my review. Finally got to check this place out with some friends. We had some beers and ordered a few plates. My wife and I split the huge cheese egg roll, the corn cheese, and the Korean hot dog with mozzarella. As good as the cheese egg roll looked, I was underwhelmed by it. The corn cheese needed seasoning. The Korean hot dog was pretty good. My friends ordered the seafood pancake which was pretty good. There were several other options that I would have liked to order, perhaps on another visit. We plan to return for karaoke and different items, maybe that visit will be better. My biggest issue was the price. Sure most of the items are decently large, but a majority of the prices are quite high. I understand that the purpose of this place is to eat family-style, however this is a problem when the bill can only be split a maximum of 2 ways. If you're with multiple parties, someone has to foot a bill that's at least $100, then be paid back via Venmo/CashApp/etc. Make sure you are aware of this before coming. I think Seoul Pocha is worth a visit, as long as you know what to expect. I hope to update this review after my next visit. read more

This brand new Gainesville restaurant has exceeded my expectations. With hours lasting till 12-1 am, I'm excited to come here to eat with my friends for late night snacks! The restaurant just had their grand opening last night. We visited during grand opening and the wait times were long but the staff were extremely kind. The manager gave all of us free beers and free drinks for the inconvenience. As for the food, the portions are huge! For the price, the amount of food given and the quality makes it worth it. Atmosphere: plenty of parking space, their lot is pretty huge. They have some private karaoke rooms available that you can also order food in. Each table has built in electric stoves. Food/price: I would say there's a lot of Korean bar-type foods available that all pair well with beer or soju. We tried: - Spicy pork belly ($17): 2.5/5, I was a bit underwhelmed with the flavors of this dish. I was expecting a smoky and spicy flavor for the pork belly but there was no smokiness. The spice level was okay, but it didn't have that deep, rich flavor I'm used to. There are veggies mixed in with the dish and it comes sizzling on a plate. Probably wouldn't get this again. It comes with one bowl of rice, extra is an additional cost. - Fried chicken with green onion ($25): very good. You actually get a lot of chicken which is great, it comes topped with slivers of green onion. They provide a hot mustard type sauce which is actually pretty good with the chicken. Each bite was moist but crispy. Would definitely recommend. Overall, I think I would come back to try their tteokboki and definitely the chicken again. read more

We've been coming to Gainesville for four years since our oldest started at UF. We've passed this place so many times and have been iffy about going in to try it, but finally decided to do it this Saturday night. First off, the service was great! The host let us know they were very busy and there was a wait, but we decided to stay since it looked like good food coming out of the kitchen and had a very cute atmosphere with two karaoke rooms in the front, a little bar and K-pop playing on a big TV. When we were finally seated, the host asked if it was our first time having Korean food (no) and first time at their restaurant (yes). He thanked us for staying and waiting for a table since we'd never been there before and made great recommendations. We got the fried chicken and beef bulgogi. Both were AMAZING- especially with their house-made kimchi and special hot sauce. The bulgogi was so good, I didn't get a picture before we had finished it. Luckily we have another kid at UF so we'll have two more years to come back. We're so glad we finally tried it here! read more

I tried Seoul Pocha's new lunch menus and again both menus are on point! As usual, they make real Korean food for Korean people. Very few Americanized items here. First one is K-style popcorn chicken and their actual name is Yangnyum Chicken (marinated fried chicken). And they taste just like Yangnyum chicken i used to get in Seoul, Korea. The second one is Jajangmyun, which is a Korean-Chinese fusion black bean noodle. Despite being one of the most popular fast food items in Korea, it has been very difficult to find good Jajangmyun in Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa or Orlando so I had to drive 5.5 hours to Duluth, GA near Atlanta to have this. But thanks to Seoul Pocha, we finally have a good Jajangmyun in the state of Florida. It was about the same level as H mart or Mega Mart food courts. read more

Loved the food and great service. It's a casual place, and the food came out super fast. We loved all three dishes. We had the padak (Korean fried chicken)- it was super crispy and the house bbq sauce was savory and delicious. I had l never had okonomiyaki before, and it was delicious.
