    Corn Dog Injeolmi
    Joseph S.

Service was a bit slow. I got the injeolmi corn dog and it was okay. I hoped that it had more powder around the dog but it seemed like it was just a dash on too. Additionally their prices seem a bit inflated as they had rice cakes with hot dogs on a single stick for over $6. I personally do not think it is worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is cute place potentially to hang with friends or get a snack.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We stopped by Seoul Stick and tried their Hot Cheeto Corn Dog (half hot dog, half mozzarella) with fried potatoes and an Original Cup Tteok-bokki with fish cake and kimchi. Both dishes were absolutely delicious - the corn dog was crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor, making it one of the most fun snacks I've had in a while! The Tteok-bokki was equally fantastic - the fish cakes paired perfectly with the spicy - sweet sauce, and the kimchi added a tangy kick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Besides the food, the restaurant has a fun K-pop themed ambience, complete with music and an instant photo booth.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, a really enjoyable experience with bold flavors and great textures. Highly recommend if you're craving tasty Korean street food!

I had been dying to try a Korean corn dog and I'm so glad my first experience was at Seoul Stick. I ordered a corndog that was half beef and half cheese with potatoes on the outside. We also got the hot Cheeto french fries to share as a table. The food was very messy but I greatly enjoyed it. It was super rich so I didn't finish my corn dog but enjoyed every bite. I wish that they had water cups instead of needing to buy a bottle. The service was quick on a Saturday at lunch time and we were easily able to get a table for our group.

Came as part of my 5,700 mile food tour. Really excited for the uniqueness of the menu. Ordered the following: Sausage and cheese stick bokki (rice cake, sausage, gochujang) + BDD Corn Dog (ramyun crumbs and spicy glaze with hotdog and cheese inside ). Enjoyed the crunch of the ramen around the sausage. The cheese meshed well with it. Staff member super friendly. Minor bummer was the specialty item on site was different upon arrival.

Was worried it would be gimmicky, but I was wrong! The range of snacks is great and there are plenty of indulgent foods to choose from. They nailed the sweet potato hot dog imo. Even though they took a while to make our food, it was worth it because you could tell it was freshly made. They mimicked the Korean street food vibes well with the decor. The kpop music videos playing in the background were fun as well! - AT

I love Seoul Stick! We came here just as an impromptu detour since the sign caught our eye from across the street. Their corndogs and stick-bokki (which is really just 떡꼬치 TteokKochi) were so crispy, and their sauce was very flavorful. The interior has a mostly minimalist aesthetic, but the service is reliable (albeit a little long, since they do make everything to order) and the ambiance is quite relaxing. It would be very nice to come here with a small group of friends to get Korean street food.

I got the ramyun/tteokbokki and it was way too sweet for me. But the Korean corn dog was AMAZING! The other rice cake was also good but the beef was definitely the Korean corn dog.

Got to-go and it was ready pretty quickly. The soddok soddok was crispy and packed well (love that the box had a hole for the stick!). I also ordered the ramyun tteokbokki and was really impressed by the flavor! Great heat on it and lots of goodies like fish cake, sausage, rice cakes, cabbage, and cheese. I normally don't like the ramyun one but I may be converted now! They also had boba tea available but I didn't get a chance to get any. A little pricy ($25) for the meal but happy with the food.

A pretty new, hyped up spot on Wicker Park's Milwaukee Ave serving a solid range of classic Korean street food staples. It's counter-serve, and the interior is decently spacious, but there aren't too many tables in total. It can get kind of pricey if you're trying to have it as a full meal, as the portions are pretty small / snack-sized. But the prices are reasonable-- everything below cost ~$38. My friend and I tried the following items: - Rose Cup-Booki: Big fan of this one; the flavors were strong, the textures were soft and creamy; delicious all around. - Injeolmi Corn Dog: Got this one with all beef sausage-- I liked it! The grainy flavor was pretty distinctive. - Hot Cheeto Corn Dog: Got this one with all mozzarella-- the hot cheeto flavor wasn't as strong as I expected, but it was pretty good still with the sweet and spicy mayo flavors pulling through. As a whole, the corn dogs are better than Kong Dog (my only point of reference lol). - Original Stick-Bokki: This was pretty good too-- the texture is tight and sticky. A lot of people do takeout here, so we found a seat pretty easily on a Sunday night. The food was pretty slow to come out though. Overall, I was a fan and would come back to try the other stuff on the menu. They have a good amount of vegetarian options too! -- Price (relative to peers): 4.1/5 Food: 4.3/5 Ambience: 4.4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4.3/5

New korean street food location in wicker park! I'm glad I finally got to check out the food here. I think we came during their soft opening. We got the beef sausage corn dog with spicy mayo and the sausage stick-bokki. Both items came out hot. The corn dog was my favorite. The breading was crunchy and sweet. The corn dog is a good size and one is probably enough for most. Stick-bokki alternates a baby sausage and rice cake on a stick with spicy, sweet gochujang glaze. I would say the glaze is the perfect amount of heat for most people. You can taste the spicy but you don't really need water. The manager? walked around and made sure people were enjoying their food. He offered us water and lemonade as well. This is the perfect place to get a quick snack with your friends or if you want to satiate your late-night munchies. You can eat in the store or walk around with it as you explore wicker park. I'd definitely come back to try their cup-bokki and other corn dogs.

Fortunately Portillo's offers both and it was recommended by locals and previous travelers to make this my one restaurant to try both. I arrived on foot on a Saturday before 10pm and there was a long line to order on the kiosks and a security guard by the door. The restaurant has two floors of seating with dated decor all around, assumingly part of the intended vibe of the establishment. The first floor seating was all taken but there were plenty of tables available on the second floor. I was able to try Portillo's hot dog and Italian beef sandwich. The hot dog included mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced tomatoes, pickle, and peppers on a poppy seed bun. The paper wrapper was strategically wrapped around the Chicago dog inside out, knowing that the logo would be clearly visible when people take pictures of the unwrapped hot dog. I ordered a regular hot dog but probably should've ordered a jumbo hot dog for a dollar more since then regular was tiny; for comparison it was definitely smaller than a Costco hot dog. Although the toppings complemented the hot dog well, the bun was soggy from being wrapped in the paper for only a few minutes. The standard big Italian beef sandwich (slightly wet) was much larger for more than double the price of the hot dog, with no Portillo's branding on that wrapper. I was a little too excited to order this that I forgot to add sweet and hot peppers, but the sandwich still tasted very good. After ordering I realized I probably should've ordered the gravy on the side so I can dip the sandwich more, but again it was still very good. For dessert I tried the lemon cake slice and strawberry shortcake. The lemon cake was a little dry and really sweet and the strawberry shortcake had a little too much mascarpone cheese whipped topping for my liking, but of course I didn't have to finish it all. Portillo's is a good option for casual fast food and for travelers to try. I definitely prefer the Italian beef sandwich over the Chicago dog, but that is my personal preference. For a sweet treat, the strawberry shortcake is a nice option if no other dessert places are nearby. To save time during peak hours, it may be a good idea to order ahead on the mobile app.

Johnnie's is an icon, just based on the experience of listening to that guy talk. Ah, but he's long gone, and new ownership abounds. But the beef is still great. One of the best beef sandwiches around, combos that are seasoned just right, and Italian ice That hits the spot on a hot summer day. I think the hot dogs are just a throw in, and the fries are decent. But it's the beef that keeps bringing you back. Not much ambiance, unless you want to stand and watch the cars roll by on North Avenue, but the smell of the sausage cooking is intoxicating. The price of the beef has gone up, and I swear it's a tad smaller, but if you're in the neighborhood, nothing hits the spot quite like a Johnnie's beef sandwich. I can still hear the big guy...."Whaddah need, gimmie a beef, wet, sweet and hot, That'l be nine fiffy two, bag it, next!" I miss him...

Choosing an "off" night (example: a weeknight) or during a less-than-ideal time (example: during a snowstorm) will give you the quickest experience for Johnnie's as the line can get LONG and parking is terrible (tiny lot). Note: this was my second visit as my first attempt, on Father's Day 2025, was a magnificent bust. We had no line and plenty of seating this time! They have a big menu, but save the cute stuff for a follow-up visit and get a beef (& hot dog is really hungry). Do yourself a favor and get an Italian Ice too, time of year is irrelevant. You can thank me after your tastebuds recover from being overwhelmed. Is the food THAT much better than other spots, you ask? Not handedly, no. But the whole experience, especially if you wait in line (in the sun as there is zero shade), is what makes this place great. It really is a delightful Chicago experience. Put Johnnie's at the top of your list this summer, plan accordingly, and ENJOY!
