I usually order all of my products online because I don't like visiting our Bakersfield mall (unless it's early and not busy) or I want to smell a new perfume/cologne. My husband sometimes surprises me with gift cards and always tells me "Frankie did the check out and he's really cool." For my husband to remember his name says a lot. I too have had EXCELLENT customer service from Frankie. He goes over and beyond for me and always gives me great advice on products. He has a bubbly personality that makes your shopping experience fun and welcomed. I have taken a survey and mentioned how pleasurable my experience has been with him and how professional he is. We are lucky to have him at our store. I'm giving a 4 star only because this store doesn't always have items in stock and unfortunately not all employees are as helpful as him. read more

I went in here looking for something to clear my breakouts! Emily was the associate in skin care who helped me and she was AMAZING! She kept it real the whole time and wasn't trying to get me to just spend money she gave me her honest opinion and I loved that! When it was time to checkout I was at the register and telling my sister I couldn't find a lip exfoliating product, the older associate at the register with black hair, overheard and told me the different kinds that they carried and she described them to me. She went, while having a line behind us, to grab it for me and brought me the tester too to see if I liked it. She was so sweet and patient! I didn't get her name :( but thank you! It's nice to have a Sephora nearby but agree that customer service here is a hit or miss. In general, the employees don't look at act as professional as those you'd find at other Sephoras or even makeup counters at Macy's. Maybe because it's Bakersfield? I don't know but when I was in there, I asked an employee about the Sunday Riley good genes. Is it day and night or day use only? She proceeded to take me to the back wall of the store where they had essentially a computer hooked up to a big screen. Went in to window shop for things that I would buy the next time I came in and ended up buying what I needed and then some. Daniela helped me find an eyeshadow primer and even gave me advice on eyeshadow colors that would compliment my green eyes and my purple hair and hooked me up with some travel brushes that were on sale that I didn't see. There were two other people that helped me but I didn't catch their names. Everybody there is super friendly and very well educated in the products they're selling. I was able to describe just what kind of makeup I needed and I didn't feel like I was being judged and I was even able to joke around a bit with the employees. (Writing on my girlfriends page) I needed to buy cologne since I was running low so I stopped at one of those kiosks in the center of the mall that sells cologne. The girl was so busy texting that she didn't notice me standing there for 2 minutes. After finally noticing me, she still refused to get up and attend to me even after I told her that I wanted to buy cologne and had some questions. I told her to get back to her texting and that I would buy from somewhere else. Clearly annoyed I walked into Sephora which was busy so I waited till someone freed up. A guy came over to me and introduced himself as cologne expert but was unable to answer some of the most basic questions so he went and got his coworker Cindy. Cindy was an absolute delight. She was extremely well informed and very knowledgeable about male fragrances. I told her that I needed a cologne that would last all day so she recommended and explained Parfums to me. She pulled an Hermes, a Prada, a Dior and a Tom Ford Noir. She explained the notes in each cologne and also told me how to properly pronounce the French names of the products. Even though the Parfums were more than I wanted to pay I selected the Prada because of her pleasant demeanor, expertise and suggestions. She also gave samples to take of the ones that I did not buy. I was so blown away by her service that I am writing this review 3 days after buying the cologne. As an aside, I asked her about a body wash for men that I was curious about based on an online ratings. Again she so well explained the product that even though the store no longer carried the coconut milk wash I went online and bought it later in the evening. Cindy was a 5* but I knocked off a star because of the guy before her who said he was an expert but couldn't even answer basic questions nor could he pronounce the name of the new Issey Miyake line. read more

I am so sick of the way I get treated when I go to the Sephora. the staff always seems to have an attitude and have dirty looks at me. when I walk into that store I'm coming to spend over $100 and I really expect better customer service. They seem like they judge you based off of how you look. One day I came really nicely looking full face makeup nice clean clothes on and everyone was smiling at me and asking me for help. Another time I came in my normal clothes no makeup flip flops on and I got dirty looks and followed around the store like I was stealing. It's not okay I'm spending a lot of money there and I leave feeling shity like I've done something wrong it is not okay I really want to find a way to report this Sephora.even when I have a receipt they always find a way to tell me that I can't return something. They always get two or three to come over there and talk about why they can't return it it's against their policy and they do it anyway. I normally always get a certain kind and was wanting to try something different. A young girl named Hannah helped me out and provided me different options and made me feel extremely welcome! Okay first off this is not a review on the actual products Sephora carries what so ever. This is strictly their customer service. I am a huge make up fanatic. I buy make up ALL the time and even work in a salon that carries expensive make up brands like Sephora does. I came in just a little while ago today and was helped find the right color from a lady who had short platinum blonde hair with pink in it. She was EXTREMELY nice. Nothing bad about her, she was informative and kind; she's the only reason I'm even giving two stars. So then I go to check out at the cash register... the two ladies up there both look like they hate their job for one. It's customer service; jobs aren't fun. But at least put a fake smile on and try to look like you're happy. My friend went to one lady and I went to the other. Both were extremely RUDE. In fact I was so taken back I felt the need to write this review and I never do this. They completely ignored me and she didn't even tell me the total just "credit or debit." I continue trying to talk to her and she literally looked at me with a snobby face and didn't say a word. I asked how much the total was and she said "it's in front of you" (which is wasn't because my card was processing) like are you kidding me ? I have nothing bad to say about my many visits to this Sephora store. On my last visit I was searching for a pore minimizer and deep facial cleanser. Two of the girls spent about 20 minutes helping me, and they did a computerized search for the specific questions I had. It was very informative. I purchased Glam glow supermud and some other products and was very happy with the results. I have had my makeup done here for special occasions, and also on a whim with my two daughters when the Naked 3 palette came out, and every time I visit no matter who helps me, they roll out the red carpet. I was made up by Mario. He was amazing. Very easy to talk to and got me my perfect products. So happy with my purchases! Honestly made my day. Ps. Mario has AMAZING eyebrows.
