Wonderful products and a delightful makeup consultant named Mark or Marc. But the watchful glares of the other salesfolk as if you're going to steal something get annoying. (I'm in my 20's. That part of my youth is long gone, like those late night binge-drinking antics.) I also dislike how rude they are when you ask for a perfume sample. Again, it's best to shop online. This place loses a star for the salesfolk in the shop; online is the best way to go. Bottom line: it's pricey but the products are worth it - you do get what you pay for. Tonight might be my LAST LAST LAST time come to this store. If I were not too nice, I will sue this store due to a racial profiling/racism. I am a muslim and wear a hijab (scarf on my head). Since I had started coming inside the store, the security kept looking at me as if I would a stole something. Well, this was not my first time a security person followed as if I am a theft. However, tonight was horrible. My husband and son came to the store few minutes later. My son was bringing a shopping bag from a children's store. When they came inside the store, I looked at security guy, and as my expectation that guy was looking at my son's bag. 5 minutes later, I was still trying a parfume and the security asked me, "Did you ask your son to bring a box for you?". I said, "what's box?" . He said, "I saw him bring a box and give it to you." What????? "I dont see he brings any box", I said. I then called my husband. I was so mad at that time so I left. I didnt want to spend more time there because it was already too late for my son (almost 9 pm). I grabbed my parfume fast and went to cashier. I planned to complain to the cashier little bit, but the cashier was rude as well. She didnt even say thank you or saw my face when I left. Please, if you can buy your stuff from another store, DO IT. They should know they have to respect everyone. If I can give them 0 star, I will definitely do it. read more

The worst experience I've ever had at a Sephora. I just came into this store with my boyfriend to go purchase myself a birthday perfume and pick up my bday reward. We walk over to the fragrances and a sales associate immediately asked if we needed help. I said no thank you and kept on looking. I then proceeded to notice every time I moved around this sales associate would follow. There were others in the perfume section other than me so it was a little confusing as to why she was staring at me and watching me pick up and smell the perfumes. I've never had a sales associate stare me down this hard for just smelling the perfumes. Needless to say I will be taking my business somewhere else. I was in this store for at most five minutes but apparently this was enough time for this sales associate to assume I was a shoplifter after simply declining help. I live in Mclean, Virginia and normally shop at the Tysons Corner Sephora. This past December I was invited to Behesda for a luncheon. After the lunch I joined a friend of mine to go to Sephora at Montgomery Mall where she shops. This was my 1st time there. They were quite busy and after a few minutes we were approached by a very attractive young lady named Debbie. It turns out she was in management. Not only was Debbie VERY knowledgeable about their products she was extremely pleasant and posessed a great personality. I really had no intention on purchasing anything and ended up spending several hundred dollars with a smile. I only wish they were closer to my home. I love to shop (just ask my husband) but it's not often that I have a shopping experience as memorable as this was. Thank you Debbie. read more

I don't get how this place never has enough employees to help out customers. After 10 min of waiting I finally caught an employee walking by to ask for help. They mentioned they were busy with another customer but that they would call someone else for me. I said sure, I understood they couldn't just stop helping someone to help me find a foundation shade I wanted. After 15 min, nobody showed up. I stayed in the same tarte area, looking for someone to help me. So I ended up walking over to the register to explain my situation. I waited another 15 min before someone finally showed up. Even then, she wasn't very helpful. I wanted help picking a shade for myself, and she basically asked me which color seemed the best for me. If I knew exactly which shade I wanted, why would I need help? The whole experience was incredible frustrating. Unless you know exactly what you want here, do not go here. Oh and basically any "popular" items are always sold out - just buy it online. read more

Every single time I enter the store I am never greeted, it is like I am invisible to them. The associates do not ask if I need any help. Is it because I look a certain way? Is it cause I walk in there not wearing makeup, so they assume I will not buy anything? When I ask for help, they keep passing me off to other associates and I never receive any help. I asked for help to find the right shade of concealer and the associate kept repeating, "just try them on and see which one blends the most" and walked away. The reason I asked for help WAS because I could not find which one blended to my skin complexion the most. She is not helpful at all. I love the store but maybe they should think about hiring new sales associates or training them how to help assist they're customers because they are doing a really bad job. read more

I think that my experience in the last year or so has been different than the past. I agree with some of the reviewers that the employees are not as kind as past employees and managers. People just don't seem to understand that in one purchase you are spending sometimes over $200 and it's really challenging to spend that much money with bad service. I have moved to shop mostly online. I have been to the new location, which I Iove, so I am hoping something about the new location will make my experience different with the staff. read more

Went there today with the intent of buying 2 products but needed to try one. I waited for 3 minutes then decided to ask a cashier if I could be helped and they gave me a look like ''ugh fine'' then they paged someone for me. They did this not once but 4 times and no one answered, I would say that it was pretty crowded but still. Then the lady who paged was like ugh no one does their job here. How awkward for me! Then I waited there for 10 WHOLE MINUTES while another lady came up to me and was like I'll paged someone for you again then I saw her help another lady and that's when I had it and stormed out. Ok aside from the expensive products, i had a very good experience at this location, rather than the one at wheaton mall. At wheaton mall the manager and everyone that worked there was super rude, and i had to leave without purchasing anything, i asked one of the manager ( worker) there to help me find a product she disrespectfully said "i don't know!" ... it took a lot out of me to keep quiet and left with my pride. never will i visit that location ever again. i am leaving this feedback because people need to know and there isn't a feed back option for that location!!! Any who the one at Montgomery Mall, the space is small, but the workers made sure i get the help i needed, the person that helped me, her name was Janet, she was super sweet, and professional, she was honest about the products that worked on my skin and gave me tips. i ended up buying 3 products. although it was expensive, i didn't mind because of the great customer service i received. If the CEO of the company ever read this, i do hope he/she rehires the workers at wheaton mall. If they ever treated the wrong person as they did with me they might be sorry. read more

I've never left a store feeling more pissed off than I did today after leaving Sephora at Westfield Montgomery. Makeup shopping can already be an overwhelming process, and to feel like not a single person in there cared to ask if I needed assistance as a stood there looking absolutely confused for a good 15 minutes is absolutely unacceptable. It wasn't until I had finally had enough, and got almost to the door, did someone walking by ask if I needed something, and so I proceeded to let her know that I had been there needing help, and walking around looking for people to help me but were too preoccupied with random mundane tasks, for the last 15 minutes. Instead of apologizing and asking what she can do to help make my experience better, she basically gave me a "Ok, Bye." response and sent me on my way. They will never get my business. I wish I could give Sephora 0 stars. I am continually disappointed in their customer service and company practices. It is the holiday season and they make returns the most complicated. How DUMB. People don't have time to waste. We always get the same lame excuse of "oh we use a third party for our returns without receipts." Your allowed one return a year without a receipt and you have to hand over your drivers license. Seems dumb to me (again especially at the holidays) but fine, I'll play along. But OH WAIT my drivers license is declined since I've already made a return without a receipt this year. Oh really? Because I'm 100% positive that is false. I only shop at Ulta now because of my terrible experiences at Sephora over numerous years. So you know what? Maybe your "third party" is really really hurting your brand. I went in to my sisters room to tell her about my horrible experience today at this Sephora And she agreed and shared with me a lot of bad experiences that she has had as well. The staff here are rude and lazy and will not give you the help you need, even when the store is empty you can't find someone who isn't chatting with a coworker to help you. After spending $100 dollars and noticing the cashier did not ask me for my beauty insider information I asked her if she wanted my card but she said it was too late and that I should call customer service. Uhh okay. On a separate day I needed to exchange 2 Items of makeup and instead of doing so she fully returned the 2 items and made me repurchase the same foundation and powder that was in the new shade I was buying. That would've been OK if I was paying cash but I paid with debit and it's been four business days and I still don't have that $120 back into my account, was it that hard to just do an even exchange?? Lastly on my 3rd trip I came in on a Monday when it was slow and as a makeup artist who loves makeup I spent 30 minutes browsing around and looking at the new holiday items and noticed one of the girls who worked there was following me around the store eyeing me down as if I was going to steal something. At first I thought maybe I was paranoid but then I noticed her whispering to other coworkers who started watching me as well, and when I went to check out with another lady I saw that same girl run to the cash register to see what items I was buying. i have been to this location many times before, and have had an ok time. but a few weeks ago i visited and the staff treated me very poorly. i asked for the color match to purchase a new foundation, and after i removed all my face makeup, the woman only tested one patch on my cheek, as on everyone else she tested their whole face. then when i explained to her my skin texture and the type of coverage i wanted, she nodded and walked away. i was then left alone looking at my options when i was completely done with being there. as i looked at some of the foundations i asked another worker to help me test the product on my skin. i had seen other workers putting the product on the customers, but when i asked her, she told me there were sponges in the little bin and a mirror above to look in, then she walked away. i was very mad with how rude these people who are paid to help me and show me what i need,were treating me with disrespect, just telling me to do it myself and ignoring me. i am very disappointed in the service of this sephora and think they need to be more welcoming to customers and help people when they clearly need it! read more

I was in the store yesterday afternoon with my boyfriend. We were there to get his full size cologne that he chose, w the certificate from the box of samples. He wanted Hugo Boss but they did not have it He decided to try Guilty by Gucci Black at the store. He ended up liking that scent as well. The associate said that one wasn't eligible, since it was not listed on the certificate. Understood. Very disappointed how he found the cologne he wanted but was not in store. The manager mentioned the certificate can only be used in store so I asked if they could check other locations. They tried two of their bigger locations and they did not carry it No one seems to have the Hugo Boss cologne. Why have that on the certificate if not available! Very frustrated !!! Was at least expecting manager to either have Hugo Boss shipped to the store or accommodate us by substituting the Guilty By Gucci Black. No options given. All that was said was "I'm sorry" we don't know when it will arrive." Not very good customer service. read more
