ULTA is like the candyland of makeup. They carry cosmetics from most brands, including Fenty by Riri. Some high end, and stuff you'll see at CVS. Customer Service is hit or miss. Some of the men work here as if they are doing us a favor. One, AA male, kinda tall, medium built. Had a huge chip on his shoulder. Never greeted anyone, or offered help. He is more concerned with his minions that work the Mac counter. The younger staff need to be more attentive and not on their phone. This location needs some serious attention, and hopefully, their district manager will do a surprise visit because the store is messy. A lot of items are out of stock all the time. You have testers that are empty or filthy. That shouldn't be on display. They offer hair salon services and eyebrow services, too. But with the mediacore services here, wouid you get your hair done by them? Nah. 3 stars for the deplorable bathroom. No TP, AND one stall that had a non working toilet. They should have placed an out of order sign. The cashiers are always friendly. But really some of the sales floor people need to work on their people skills. Why is that? Came on my birthday on the 30th. They ignored me for 10 minutes while I waited at the counter then another 10 minutes because they did not realize they had an appointment. I got a haircut which was the worse haircut and tingles all fell apart the same day. What a waste of money and lack of even the slightest talent. She was attentive to my needs, talked me through my vision as I had bob-length hair was looking to cut into a pixie. She was so efficient and kind. This ulta is quite nice. They had a lot of items in clearance. I guess after the Holiday sale. It was really nice to find good eyelashes on sale. It was a bit busy earlier. Lots of people around the store. Only 2 cashiers. One of the other people working there was fixing things around the store a bit loud. He was this tall person. I understand that the employees jobs are to make customers sign up for the Ulta credit card. I came to say that it's very important that they explicitly state it. The person checking me out today mumbled something about a discount and I naively thought that it was because of the points I had. I should have looked at the screen and asked more questions because before I knew it I was signed up for a credit card there. Which I did not want at all and never will want. I understand i should have been more aware but I think it's really bad business to try and sneak that in. It makes me uncomfortable to go back again. I believe that customer service is helping the customer find what they want and nothing more. I hope at some point they choose to put the customer before the company. I did not receive good customer service and had a bad experience. I doubt I will return in the future. read more

Disappointing Makeup Experience - Not Worth the Price I went here for a makeup application and purchased the $70 package. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected. While the makeup artist was very sweet, the quality of the work was disappointing. She took nearly two hours to complete my makeup, yet my dark spots and acne were still visible. The lashes started falling off soon after, and my eyeshadow looked like I had two black eyes. Nothing was blended properly, and my overall look was unflattering. She did do good eyebrows and lips, but none of my make up was evenly blended As someone with a darker skin tone, I believe there should be a questionnaire or some way to ensure that artists are experienced in working with all skin types. The entire experience left me feeling frustrated, and I will not be returning. Definitely not worth the price. read more

Worst experience ever! If I could give zero stars, I would! First of all, the staff think they're slick following your every move, if you're black combined with wearing sweats... so, since I didn't need help from the Ulta staff, the security guards were sent on me! The short Hispanic girl at the register, was the worst! If you can't count money, you shouldn't work behind a register! She tried to offer me a credit card, but not scan my coupon on my phone. They have a whole make up set, make up brushes, and a make up bag with Frida K. face and spirit. They have the cutest make up sets, a new magic towel called the make up eraser that clean your face with just water. They opened up at 5 AM for Black Friday, so be patience with the staff, they maybe a little tired. I'm happy they offered all the Frida K. items and that's what attracted me today, as I'm a really big fan of hers. It's nice to learn of the items, before they sell out. As an update, despite the response below to my original review, I had another poor shopping experience when trying a visit again after 5 months. When coming a weekday evening to buy a skin care product, I found the overhead music blaring very loud. I asked for manager assistance to turn down the music so I could think straight and hear guidance from staff. Aside from poorly trained staff that couldn't help with the product, the manager responds that they're closing in 30" and refused to turn down the music to normal level and had an attitude so I walked out. Love this Ulta location and frequent it whenever I visit the area. Everything is well stocked, easy to find and associates are more than happy to answer your questions. This is the only location where I actually see employees walk around the store, proactively asking if you have any questions. If you haven't been to Ulta in a minute, or at all, testers are currently not available for swatching and are covered in plastic. You can order items online and pick 'em up in store, but half the fun is walking around looking at (and eventually buying) the stuff you don't need. read more

Improve stock! You would RARELY go to a Nordstrom's or Bloomingdale's and look for an item in a brand they have on their counter and it NOT be in stock. This was one of my go-to Ulta locations, despite some of the staff's helpfulness being hit or miss. I came in to the store on 12/20/23 purchasing a Christmas gift. I was followed around the store by one of the workers ( she was in the prestige, skin care section. Fairly older and short with a bob hair cut. Only including her description for the purpose of the interaction). She approached me at least 3 times asking if I needed a basket, meanwhile I only had one item in my hand which was a fenty gloss. I then noticed her watching me from nearby aisles. At one point I was squatting to read a product description on a lower shelf and looked up and she was standing close by. I told her I did not need any assistance, I was buying a gift for my partner so I was taking my time. I also noticed I was the only African American customer on the prestige side of the store and the only one she was following. The experience made me feel subhuman and I regret even buying from this location. I will be following up with corporate, but wanted to notify others as well via Yelp. read more

This location is repeatedly disappointing, but I come here for the convenience. The customer services is fairly poor with associates that do not cater to the customer's needs. I believe my needs are simple - checking inventory for an item that is listed as in stock online and/or ordering that item to my house for me since it is not in stock in stores. The associates that I have encountered are nonchalantly oblivious without responses to basic questions or product inquiries. I don't mind that they don't know but you can't know everything, but it is important to put in that effort to help the customer since you should be more knowledgeable than me. read more

I had the worst experience at Ulta Beauty in Rockville, MD. My daughter gave me a gift card to get my hair done there. I got an appointment scheduled for 5/12 at 10:30AM. I got there at 10:30AM stylish was not ready to take me, she was still with another client, when I got there she doesn't apologize or explained how long was she taking just told me to sit. I already found that disrespectful, I waited 20 min I got it tell her I had to reschedule because I have a meeting to attend. She was still with her client still telling me I have to wait. Like she couldn't excuse herself and make sure I was ok and apologize at least. She asked someone else to scheduled my appointment for Saturday 5/13 at 2:00PM. I got there at 2:13PM due to a Telehealth visit I was wrapping up and my daughter call to let them know. When I got there without hesitation the stylist Maha said she's going to reschedule me because she could not take me because she has not time, mind you I requested Valerie so I was not aware I was scheduled with her and Valerie was with client, I explained the stylist that we still have time I just wanted a hair cut that's all. She keep saying she didn't have time because she has to do wash and set my hair I keep saying I don't need the services I just wanted my ends trim,nothing difficult, she said that she needs a hour or more so she couldn't take me and keep arguing with me that she won't take me, I said I am the customer and I know what I want and I was paying for services, then she said she didn't need my money and that she was the stylist and what she said goes. I asked for manager so Amy came with a nonchalant attitude and sided with stylist without offering a solution, she also did not apologize or offer any solution I had to said if she can find them another time and was acting like she did not wanted to book me. I stayed there until 3;30PM and observe their attitude towards Caucasian and Asian customer which was totally different experience they were much nicer and helpful no attitude towards them, I also saw the stylists taking another customer that had an appointment for 3 and got them at 3;14PM without any problem very understanding and helpful with the client a very different attitude towards her. At this point a believe that Ulta has discriminatory practices and encourage their employee to treat clients different base on their color of their skin. Well, since the girl, she was a manager, that did my hair here is now gone because she moved I will just talked about my overall experience and the times I visited the store: The stores I was clean, bright and organized. Usually everything is on the shelf and present but sometimes when I take a look through the hair dryer section, one or two hair dryers are missing from the display or either the display is there but the dryer itself is not there. But, that's not a big deal because I just like to look at those anyway. I mean how often is someone needing to purchase a hair dryer? The store has a great selection of various Beauty items. I usually find what I need and move on towards the line which is always medium in length but the wait time is not that long. read more

I have been going to Maha in this Ulta Salon for several years and this is a long overdue review for the best hair stylist I have ever had. Maha has given me short, cropped hair styles, medium length cuts and long styles, and each cut has been excellent. She has also applied foil-wrapped color to my hair and has a wonderful touch with making it look natural. Great washes, too! read more

I've come to this Ulta many times before, and I'm not sure if the work culture has changed within the store, but I did not have a great experience there. I came to this store to take advantage of their discount skincare products during their January event. When I arrived, I asked a sales person if they had it in stock, but they ran out. She then proceeded to try and sell me a similar product which I took time to listen to, however, she never asked what I needed the original product for or what my skin concerns for. The product she was selling me was irrelevant to my concerns stating it was organic and that it works great on her skin. She then started to try and sell me other products within the same brand, which I then had to dismiss her help. When I arrived to the cashier, I was working to pull up the Ulta app to share my membership barcode. Instead the cashier repeatedly ask me for my mobile number and was impatient with the whole process. I enjoy the competitive Ulta prices, but the customer service is lacking and I would not recommend going to this store. read more
