I used to love shopping at Sephora... but not any more. They used to give supper customer service. Find the right thing for me. Suggest new brands and new products that might make me feel more beautiful. I liked going there instead of the department store counter because of this unbiased service and the ability to put together a makeup regime from a variety of brands. Recently when I went in, I felt extremly akward asking for help. I had to "intrude" on 2 sales peoples *social* conversation in order to get some help. I was hoping to get a new summer routine that would be better for my tanned skin and better in the heat. The woman used a machine on my face to determine my color, and then an app gave several suggestions of what would match my skin tone. Then, without asking me any additional questions, she simply picked the most expensive foundation, and showed me where to get it. She didn't even offer to test it on me. When I asked..... she put a small amount on my cheek, and then didn't even offer me a mirror to see how it was. And then she walked away back to her conversation. What a shame. I was looking to spend $200+ and because of this poor service decided to leave empty handed. I suppose I'll have to go back to buying make up at Nordstrom, where they actually HELP their customers... imagine that. read more

Sephora is my happy place. If I'm having a bad day and I make a stop at Sephora, it will literally put me in a better mood. I could walk around that place for hours looking at and sampling products. And the best part...they will let you do just that! They carry so many brands including ones that are hard to find other places. You can find anything you need (and stuff you don't need but just have to have!). Once in awhile they will stop carrying certain product lines but when that happens, an employee always helps me find something similar. Everyone who works there is usually friendly and helpful. There have been a few exceptions to that statement but they are few and far between. As a rule, the employees tend find a good balance between helping you when you need it and leaving you alone when you just want to wonder around the store for a bit. read more

I went into Sephora this afternoon unsure if I needed to update my makeup or whether I was going to buy anything. The woman who helped me was so nice and accommodating. I wanted to find products that were not tested on animals and she was so knowledgable about makeup lines and moisturizers that did just that. She also complimented me on my eyebrows (something that goes a long way when in a beauty store) and sent me home with samples without putting pressure on me to spend a lot of money. I wish I caught her name because I will go back to see her next time I need anything regarding makeup. read more

I wish I had gotten the name of the makeup artist who helped me the other day... I think her name was Martine? She was a gem. in any case, yes, the staff is helpful. They will explain what a product is for/help you find the product/color that meets your needs. *Much* better than a department store experience, because you're not going to be steered to *one* brand. You can get samples to try out at home (which will save you $$$ and time, believe me). There are testers and copious clean applicators, so it's easy to check loooots of different colors. Prices range from moderate to pricey to very high-end. Overall, a pleasant experience. read more

She has helped me find products I love and doesn't push me into buying. She should own Sephora. I love the special occasions - makeup and hair days. I buy a lot of makeup...A lot. I buy the same thing nearly every trip- so I could totally purchase online, but there is something really fun about venturing in to an actual Sephora. It's a sensory experience! While I wouldn't go anywhere near there on a weekend, during the week it's pretty laid back. They usually have what I need in stock (only one time they were out) and I love the "points reward" system- sometimes the gifts are really great samples. read more

I could spend all day in Sephora. I like that you can try any product on the shelf. Knowledgeable staff always around for questions. I've also gotten free tutorials on products that I'm actually interested in. I just wish it was as big as the one in Las Vegas. read more

i went to this sephora yesterday because I was feeling down and wanted to buy something for myself but really didn't know what to get so I knew i'd just be browsing until something struck me. I was there for probably 25ish minutes, swatching different highlighters and glosses, looking at my phone, just enjoying my day. I did notice that when I walked in I wasn't greeted (I've worked in customer service many years so I know how it goes and everyone doesn't get greeted 24/7) - however, everyone else that came in was greeted by the employee hovering by the door. In my entire time there, I wasn't talked to -I was kind of surprised because normally sephora employees ask you if you need help every 5 seconds but i didn't really care because I didn't need help. Anyways I was swatching some lip gloss and an employee (the same one who was by the door and greeted everyone except me - which could've genuinely been unintentional but 1 + 1 = 2 so) practically leaps from around a display and very abruptly asks "So do you have a question orrrrrr????" in a really rude voice and I was like um no thanks though. The way she said it was so rude and i have NEVER left a yelp review anywhere so this should let you know how much it bothered me. I actually cannot stress enough how weird her demeanor was. This may not seem like a big deal but I was the only person of color in the store and it made me feel really...not good; super alienated and like I wasn't welcome there at all. As a person of color I am always personally SUPER aware of my surroundings in stores - which is not fair in itself. I don't get close to the merchandise, I pick up one item at a time, my purse was backpack style, I make it very obvious when I put my phone in my pocket etc. . . Anyways after she came out of the side of her neck and made herself aware to me, I kind of noticed she was watching me (for no other reason than she doesn't have a life or maybe she's just super passionate about crime idk) and it made me super uncomfortable so I got some two items and checked out. The lady at the register was super kind so S/O to whoever she was. Like I said I've worked in customer service for years and the way she approached me was so out of pocket. . . maybe something like "Hey! do you need help finding anything?" would've been appropriate. I don't need to steal. I have money, which I will now never use at that store lol. I genuinely can't imagine approaching a customer like that......ever. I know no customer service worked will care when I say this but I will literally never return and I encourage other POC to take their money to another establishment where you don't feel like Paul Blart is breathing down your neck. read more

Wow. This is an update from my previous review. I dropped by Sephora on a Sunday at 11:00am (the time the store opens). There were quite a few employees gathered in the center of the store catching up with one another. As I walked towards them, not one of them stopped to ask if I needed help. I was hoping to quickly ask someone where a product was located. I didn't plan on asking much more of the employees at Sephora because I am already aware of their poor customer service and unwillingness to help. I tried to make eye contact with one of the employees working there. I caught their eye and they quickly turned around and started talking into their ear piece thingy. THIS EMPLOYEE DID THE EXACT SAME THING TO ME 5 MONTHS AGO! I found where I needed to be myself. Finally, I caught the attention of a different employee. I asked a simple question and found out they did not know the meaning of "matte". At this point I told them I was fine and did not need help because that was clearly useless. Additionally, you would think that the store would be organized and well put together since it was 11:00am on the dot and not many had been in the store yet. It was in complete disarray. Nothing was organized and I was really struggling to find the product I needed. Because I have been a loyal Sephora customer since I started wearing makeup (I won't age myself but it has definitely been double digit years ago) I know where the extra stock is located (drawers under display) I had to find the product I was looking for myself (drawer was also a hot mess). idk? Seems like Sephora probably doesn't want me digging around in there but nonetheless. I have had the same problems consistently for quite a few years now. I kept returning because I am a loyal customer and liked to take advantage of my beauty insider status. I will no longer shop at Sephora. I do not want to leave a store with a luxury product after being treated so poorly. The unfortunate thing is I actually spend REAL MONEY at this store. Their loss. read more

Sephora gives off a vibe of having it all - yet their selection of products is often disappointing. Sure, they carry basic items by basic names, but when I need a specific and rare item, they usually let me down (i.e. Bumble and Bumble hair products, or MAC eyeshadows). I've found that Saks carries what Sephora doesn't. And in case you're looking for MAC products, there's a MAC store in the same plaza. If you just need some basic mascara, foundation, or lotion (and the drugstore just won't do) Sephora will probably have you covered. read more

I have been to Sephora multiple times and can earnestly say I never felt welcomed. I would walk in and it was rare to be greeted let alone asked if I needed help. Not that it is required, but it was a polar experience than that of what i had at MAC. This was my disposition until TONIGHT! Martine was phenomenal! She understood finding a fragrance was challenging and took time aside to show me the exact perfumes I would like! I can say anytime I go to Sephora I will hope she, Michael or the girl whom today had mermaid makeup on are there! They are some amazing employees of Sephora and deserve recognition for their sublime customer service and warm smiles! read more

I love this Sephora. The selection is extremely varied and the atmosphere is very "pop" -- high energy and fun music and extremely clean. I've been helped by Desiree, India, and Martine, and the Hungarian lady (among others who I can't remember) and they are always so lovely to chat with and helpful about products. They seem like such nice people and that they really enjoy their work, which makes a Sephora visit even more pleasant. I also love the sampling availability at Sephora: I have definitely gone back to purchase items I've sampled and liked. read more

so at various cosmetic stores, i've had various types of service. i look kinda young, and i'm not nearly as rich as half the girls in boulder, so it's often difficult for people to try to help me in stores. however, when i go to the boulder sephora, there is always at least one person who tries to help me (which is more than i can say for a lot of other cosmetic stores). the sales people know their stuff...very well! it's pretty impressive. when they do give me a product recommendation that's out of my price range (which i guess can happen easily with the huge range of high-end cosmetics), i just say that i'm looking for something that isn't quite that expensive, and the sales people understand. they're really helpful and understanding both my cosmetic and financial needs, which is more than i can say for a lot of other stores. read more
