Came in with a gift card today to buy some new lipstick and hopefully a new eyeshadow palette! I have had terrible experience after terrible experience at this store however it is very close to my house and therefore extra convenient. Today however was the worst experience by far. It is understandable that because of the holiday they would be out of product. No worries! That makes sense. Unfortunately not only was the store a wreck but it was dusty and looked like the shelves hadn't been cleaned in the upwards of a couple months. Built up grime was everywhere! There was a Tarte eyeshadow palette that I wanted to purchase (which was still displayed). None were out so I asked one of the ladies working if she could grab one for me. "Oh we don't have that anymore" she said without turning away from the task she was completing. I let her know that the product was still displayed so that she could remove it (since they don't have it anymore). Instead of removing it or apologizing she just said "Yeah I know". Hmm. Alright then. Looks like I'll be making the trip to Escondido for the better service and a cleaner store. It's sad that Sephora is being represented like this. Everywhere else has provided excellent products, customer service and a clean environment! This store is a real bummer. read more

A lot of people have this store confused with the sephora inside JC Penny. This store is NOT inside JC Penny, it is the new stand alone Sephora that opened in 2020. I was in last week and a gentleman helped me out. He was great and had excellent customer service as it was a very busy day. I went to exchange my make up for one shade darker. With no receipt the sales associate could only give me a $9 value for a $50 foundation. However, a real Sephora store can switch it for an even exchange without a receipt. Ridiculous. I had Sara one day help me with my foundation and she killed it in color matching and was extremely professional! I felt so confident to comeback and ask for help with my lip color combo and Ariel helped me this time and also killed it with the shades! What I've been trying to achieve in months she nailed it!!!! Very limited selection on products and a lot of items had not been restocked. Terrible customer service, I was in the store about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged my presents and there was only one other customer in the store. They also broke the number one rule for a make up store for me....they had no good lighting anywhere! How are you supposed to pick out a foundation shade with no light? Also there was a Sephora employee in uniform just hanging with other associates in the store. When I pointed this out the sales associate told me he was was off. I went to this Sephora and i wanted foundation but the one I normally use is not carried here. So I wanted to get matched for a new foundation. It was relatively busy but not once did anyone acknowledge me the whole 30 minutes I was in this small area. I went up to the cash register and asked if someone could assist me, she said once she was done with the customer she would assist me. I continued to wait like 5-10 minutes clearly in her view and then another customer asked her for help after I did. But instead of assisting me she helped this brand new customer for like 10 minutes. And she was still helping this customer when I was leaving. I get it's busy but I waited like 30 minutes just to get matched for foundation. I've never been treated this way at ulta and from now on I will never shop at a Sephora. This location is a mess and it seems that the previous poor reviews are correct. read more

I guess the cool thing about this store is that it's convenient because it is inside of jcpenny at the mall. Unfortunately it is not very well stocked. I've only stopped by a handful of times and they have always been out of whatever it is that I'm looking for. There's normally only one person working which sucks because she's busy and can't help you. The last time I went there were 2 people working. I couldn't find what I was looking for so I asked the sales associate. She quickly said no we are out and walked away to go to the register to ring up someone. My sister approached me and asked, do they have it? No, I replied. My sister then said, "oh... ask them to look it up at another store" I said, "no I doubt it. They don't look like they want to help me." I guess the sales associate overheard because she rudely said "I did help you! We don't have any!" I couldn't believe that she rudely responded! If she was going to respond she should've said 'yes I can call other stores for you if you'd like' or she should've had some good customer service and proper manners and kept her mouth!! read more

My husband and I were in this Sephora just a little while back. I never stopped at the one in JC Penny and have always only shopped at the free standing shops. No reason in particular for this either, just timing really. I stopped to look at a new foundation I had been wanting to try for awhile and took the foundation to the counter, with a new foundation brush, and politely greeted the sales person. I told her I had a question and, no exaggeration, before I even said another word she pointed at the foundation in my hand and told me that "that's too light for your skin." I politely let her know my question was about the brush. The foundation is not only the right tone for my skin, but the best shade I have ever found. I have very pale skin and usually shades considered pale, porcelain, ivory, etc., are far too often too yellow or pink and too dark. She was not very friendly nor was she helpful. First she told me to use a Beauty Blender with it and after I let her know I use brushes, she then told me it's better with a brush. It was a wonderful unexpected gift from my husband and a very unfortunate experience with the sales person. I know the star rating is harsh but without being greeted and without any offer of assistance, I was met with bad advice and a poor attitude in a shop with quite a few empty and messy make-up testing areas. read more

If you're spending hundreds of dollars on skin care etc, customer service and policies should not in the gutter. Kinda dirty and poor selection as well as the employees not being trained on how to color match. Decided to try and give this place a second chance that they didn't deserve to begin with and it's still a total joke here. Middle of the day on a Saturday and they have 2 people actively working. One always at the register and one trying to help everyone else. To top it off not only does nearly all this staff give a snooty vibe but I was actually disappointed in one woman in particular. I don't know if she was a manager because she was dressed in all black, but I had seen a highlight palette (a travel ish sized one) and asked where I could find it because it was by itself. She told me that it had been on sale and showed me to the sale section. When we looked there were none left and I said well okay can I have that one back because I'd like that one and she gave me some excuse as to why they wouldn't sell it to me. Something about there was none on the shelf so it was out of her system. I'm pretty sure it's not out of your system if there's one right here or just because something sold out, just means it's out of stock. I even asked her if I could have it back to try and look it up somewhere else myself to which she threw that one away in front of my face. I have never been somewhere where an entire store constantly is so under staffed and treats customers like total shit to be honest. Their customer service is a joke too. I have written to corporate many times to which they avoid and do not respond or brush it off saying they'll get back and never do. I hope any other Sephora is better than this one. Lisa the manager is horrible. She is very rude and has no customer service focus. I choose not to shop here anymore and Will support freestanding stores only. There is a lot of turnover in this place a lot of times there are not enough cashiers and they don't give the same type of benefits as the actual freestanding store. I've encountered Lisa being rude on more than one occasion to me and other customers. I wonder where they found her could they not find someone better? read more

Only reason for three stars is because the people who work here are friendly and helpful. They also take their time with each customer, answering questions and have always been patient with me- despite how busy they always are. There should seriously be more than 2 people able to both assist customers and checking them out. Every time I come to this Sephora everyone is extremely helpful and nice. Yesterday I went to pick up my foundation that I always use, unfortunately they didn't have my color I usually get so I went up to the register with a shade lighter and the sample of the color I usually use. The women who helped me is named Lisa and I've worked with her before she's always helped me an she was honest and said the color is too light and instead of selling me the wrong color she made me too samples until they get my proper color in next week. This is the only Sephora around west north county, and yes it's inside JCPenny's, which kinda stinks as they are limited on what they have available since it's not a full size retail store.With that said, they do the best with what they have. Every single time I have been in there I end up really enjoying my visit. All of the ladies are super nice and will help you with whatever you need. They even offer to give you samples on anything you want to try out. Once in a while, especially if you go in later in the day they will only have one person on staff, which would be my only complain. I was in town on business, and realized that I forgot to pack my make up bag. Seriously. I forgot all my make up. I ran over to the closest Sephora ready to stock up. This store is awful! There is next to no stock, and it looked like a 6 year old had run through the store sampling everything. I expect that at Wal-Mart, not Sephora. I only drove here because they had the fenty products in stock that I needed. It's a nice and clean place. BUT Sephora needs to do something about the lighting. I always get shade matched wrong. It's not really the employees fault, when I look in the mirror it looks my shade. After buying the foundation I put it on the next day a noticed it was a little dark. Then I went outside.... they shade matched me 200 for fenty foundation (amazing foundation btw) yeahhh 5 shades to dark. Went back and got 120 and it was to light. finally got 150 and I'm pretty happy with it. If you don't know what shade you are I highly suggest just getting samples in a few different shades. read more

I went into this location on a Sunday, knowing I had a busy week ahead and wouldn't be able to restock on my makeup that was running out. When I opened the box for the first time, I found the makeup had completely exploded everywhere. (Fine, it happens). I was finally able to exchange it a week later- but found I was wrong to expect even a quick apology. I told the cashier what had happened, and without even a "Sorry," she took the box from me, exchanged it, said, "Here you go," and that was it. Love this location. Everyone is pretty friendly and I love the set up of the store. My go to person is Jessica. She's very helpful and friendly and always goes out of her way to help me plus she speaks Spanish so I bond with her. Only downside is that the store always seems understaffed...constantly have to do a lot of waiting to pay or even get matched etc. other downside is that usually out on certain products. This place does not give me the same vibes I get when I walk into any other Sephora store. You know the feeling of wanting to buy almost everything because everything looks presentable and so many different products to chose from. This place is far from it,smh. It's located in Jcpenny in the middle of the store, the selection is limited, the store is a mess and sloppy. Only one person on the floor which means I didn't get a simple Hello or welcome to Sephora. The sample stations were barely stocked. I guess they don't care about refilling the samples so customers could try the product and possibly love it. When looking for a product that I liked most of the items were not even available! Brand new boxes of makeup were covered And smeared in makeup. Talk about presentation and cleanliness. While standing in line 2 customers actually looked annoyed and complained that they didn't like this store because they have to wait forever in line and no one ever assists them. So sad. I am a VIB Rouge customer with Sephora and have been for many years. I am an absolute addict for Sephora because of the amazing products and excellent customer service. Unfortunately, because I don't live near a freestanding Sephora store I am subject to either buy online or pop into the store in JC Penney. I have visited this location many times and I can count on one hand (actually less than 3 fingers) the amount of times I have experienced good service. This location does not reflect the mission of excellence of service that I know Sephora Corporation preaches and its pretty disappointing. The environment is not inspiring and the lack of smiling, happy and enthusiastic employees makes it very difficult for me to shop beyond the main reason why I came there. I have held my tongue hoping that it would change, but my last visit was the last straw. Once again lackluster service and just made 2 purchases online since my visit to this store. read more
