I came in because it's beauty steals time where they have 21 days of items that are 50% off. There are some great brands and some great deals to be had. In particular, I went to go get some Mac studio fix powder. The store was busier than I've ever seen any Ulta, which caught me by surprise. It took me a while to find an associate to help. They would make eye contact and keep walking. I finally asked someone to help me color match. It had been years since I used the studio fix and I loved it when I was younger but found it hard to be matched. She tried a few colors on me and decided on one. It looked okay to me but it's so hard to tell in store. She also explained to me that the formulation had changed over the years and it wasn't the same as it used to be. They no longer use talc. She expressed that some people like it, and some people do not. I had no idea so I'm glad she told me. I ended up asking a few other sales people where to find items I was looking for, one pointed in the direction and one actually took me there. I sampled a few items through testers, but decided to stick with just the pressed powder for now. There was a long line to check out, but there was quite a few cashiers and they were opening more as I waited. The line moved quickly and I was able to pay for my item and ask questions about the return policy in case I didn't like the new formula . When I got home, I tested my new product and unfortunately it's a bit orange on me so I'll be bringing it back. Also, I do not like the new formulation it's very different (obviously not ulta's fault) and the coverage is weak so I am happy the employee on the floor let me know. I arrived at this store a few minutes after opening. Usually I get a welcome or at least an acknowledgement from the staff when I visit other Ulta locations. I knew exactly what I needed, so I didn't need any help, until I realized my shade was not available in the product that I was looking for. I waited around, shopped for other things trying to give the staff time to settle into their day. Nobody looked up at me. No one seemed to care that a person was in the building trying to spend money. Literally NO ONE said a word. It looked like they were just angrily stocking product. I usually go to the San Marcos location and they are fantastic. I usually have to tell multiple people that I am ok but I will let them know if I need anything. I will continue to go to the Las Posas location and hope this was just an off day for them. read more

I had a very frustrating experience at the Ulta Beauty location. I placed a pickup order for a specific shade that showed in stock, but it was canceled after I arrived due to being out of stock. When I came in, I immediately asked to speak with a manager. The staff appeared unsure how to handle the situation and I was given conflicting information. I was told the charge was "pending," while my bank account showed the funds already deducted. Instead of calmly explaining the authorization hold process, the interaction turned into an argument. Another employee joined in and the situation escalated further. At one point, I was told I might be asked to leave the store for being "aggressive," even though I was trying to understand why I was being charged for a canceled order. That response felt inappropriate and dismissive. When the manager finally stepped in, they were more helpful, but by that point the experience had already escalated unnecessarily. This situation could have been handled much better with clear communication and basic customer service. Inventory accuracy for pickup orders and staff training on how to handle frustrated customers both need serious improvement. read more

I went in this morning and was immediately greeted. I knew what I needed so I didn't wander too much in the store but everything looked clean and fully stocked, clean, and organized. The cashier was nice and quick. However, I would say that the Ulta brand brushes had an ineffective display. There were brushes behind a piece of plexiglass with a slit at the bottom where I guess you should be able to feel the brushes that were zip tied onto the display. But the slit was on the opposite side of the bristles so you couldn't even feel them. If the brushes were flipped with the bristle end near the opening that would make sense. read more

A review on behalf of my mom. She usually goes to this location, but today was not a good day. She said she walked in and there were no Shea Moisture products. There weren't a lot of products in the shelves. Things like disorganized like it turned into a Ross. I don't usually come here, but when things start looking like Ross, you know you messed up. She says she'll go to the San Marcos location but I see that star rating is low as well. This first time experience at the Salon was a waste of time and money. I booked hair and makeup at 2pm for a photoshoot and was very disappointed with both. My curls weren't set properly, were brushed out immediately, and fell quickly, despite me asking for them to last until my 6pm shoot. The makeup was heavy, unblended, and not what I requested, I asked for a natural brown look, but received grey with glitter; my dark circles were not concealed or set, and the blush didn't match my skin tone. When I asked the manager if my stylist was new, she said she had just come back a few weeks ago, which explains some of the inexperience, but I still paid full price for poor service. The manager did offer to redo my hair and make the curls tighter, but I was already running late and frustrated, and no other solution, discount, or follow-up was offered. I ended up having to redo everything myself before my shoot. Very unprofessional and disappointing, I will not be returning. read more

Andrea's enthusiasm, faith in her own company and it's product line was a number one reason as to why I trusted Andrea's expert opinion on why I would use Nutrium over other products that is within my budget. Andrea is knowledgeable and enthusiastic (enthusiasm is contagious :) Also, while she was giving me my crash course, another woman felt comfortable enough to join us in our skin care journey. I am a regular at this Ulta and love the store! All the workers are super friendly and helpful! I love that there is always a coupon or deal going on for free gifts with purchase! I recently got an awesome insulted beach bag that was super cute! Ulta is my go to for my Joico hair products and my perfume! I also love to get Dior lip oil and random stuff like beauty blenders. This store is usually well stocked and organized! They do hair cuts in store as well. I've never utilized the service, but I always see someone I there getting the service. The only reason I allowed her to do my roots is do to the promise promise she wouldn't be touching or doing anything with my blonde. I shop at Ulta all of the time, but this is the second time I have left this specific location feeling bummed out after receiving no help and not being able to find any help on products. I just stood in the hair tool section for 30 minutes with two $350 hair tools in my hand desperately needing assistance from someone to let me know what the difference was between the two and after 30 minutes I wasn't able to locate anyone. I couldn't tell who were employees and who weren't. If there were any employees they sure as heck pretended I wasn't there. So, I decided to leave the tools behind and just purchase the stuff I already had in my bag using my Ulta credit card. When I was being rung up the cashier, Bethany, asked me if I found everything OK and when I told her that I did not, and that I wasn't able to purchase a Hair Straightener because I couldn't find anyone to help me she did not respond & completely ignored me. Didn't ask me if I would like some help with that, didn't say Im sorry to hear that. Just dead silence. Such a strange and disappointing experience. I love this location! I come in fairly regularly because there's a Japanese gal here who understands how to color and style my hair. Recently, she took my hair from blue-black to dark brown with blonde highlights... it is fun to switch up my look for summer! Another visit, she curled my hair and it lasted over 3 nights. I have been interested in nail art, on and off for years (anyone remember water marble nails?) and decided on a dip manicure kit to save some money- I spend upwards of 40$ + 20$ tip biweekly at salons, and the kit I found here will pay for itself in a single use. I told them i had an account and the lady started telling me off, telling me i could not get the free gift because i didn't have a barcode, and yelling over me when i tried to explain i had been logged out of my account, after resolving this issue, she was still mad and required an ID even though i am only 15 years old. Within the 10 years after my initial review, I've only stopped into this Ulta location a few times, one of which was the other day. Trying to put together my last-minute Christmas list for my husband, I went to Ulta specifically to peruse their fragrance section. As soon as I entered I saw a handful of employees milling about, but all clearly busy with their tasks - totally fine, I don't always need to be approached when I enter a store, especially if I know exactly what I'm there for. I went straight to the fragrance section right at the front of the store and started browsing, but noticed right away the entire display was in shocking disarray. There were tester cards scattered about everywhere, and most of the bottles I was interested in testing were mostly empty or had a missing nozzle that someone popped off so it couldn't even be spritzed. There was one perfume in particular a friend had recommended but despite there being a few retail boxes on the shelf for purchase, there wasn't a tester and that's when I realized I actually needed an employee's help but suddenly couldn't find anybody. The worst part of this experience was being surrounded by an obnoxious ongoing chorus of security tag "beeps" - I'm not sure if they were attached to the fragrance bottles or some other higher-priced items nearby, but they were quite literally drilling into my brain like two dozen smoke detectors needing new batteries. It made for a really unpleasant shopping experience and I left with a headache and without a perfume selection. It's a shame, I'm sure they're missing out on a lot of $$$ in sales just based off their lacking customer service, poorly stocked/managed displays and crap atmosphere. Came in on a whim and purchased Hero blemish patches because there was a sign indicating if you spent $20, you'd get a gift with your purchase. When I got home, I realize there was no gift for my purchase in my bag. I called the store and spoke with the manager Jessica and she let me know all the gifts for that promotion where all gone however she was able to figure out another promotion to link to and said if I wanted to come back she'd be happy to honor that.
