I love Sephora and I go here for all my makeup needs. I've been to this one here in Cerritos, the Lakewood location and the Torrance location. Go to the Torrance location they're the BEST. Cerritos and Lakewood are ok, Lakewood would be my second choice but in terms of makeup artists, the Torrance location has mad talent and skills. Cerritos is convenient but the makeup artists are young, inexperienced and put globs of makeup on. I give them props on eye makeup. What happened to this store? The customer service has gone to the dumps. Someone forgot to get these new hires a course in customer service. They also forgot to hire people who have some damn manners. This last time I came in for a specific product and couldn't find it, so looked for someone to help me. No one around. Two girls in the back sitting in the corner chatting. The girls at the cash registers doing their thing. So I went to the front of the store to ask a girl to help me, she gave me a look like she didn't want to be bothered. She looked desperate for someone else to help. Like hello? This is your job?! Do you expect to get paid to stand there doing nothing and ignore customers? She looked around for someone else to help me. When she couldn't find anyone else, she finally moved from her little comfort spot and asked me again what was it that I wanted. She took her sweet time walking to where the item I wanted was located. Stopping to fiddle around with products and to chat with a co-worker. Like what? Who does that? Chat afterwards!! Help me so I can be on my merry way. If I wanted to be ignored and left to fend for myself I would have gone to freaking Walmart or Target to buy my makeup products. Seriously, if you're gonna charge me 20, 30, 40 bucks for damn lipstick I better get some good ass customer service. I frequently visit this establishment because I am beauty OBSESSED. It is usually well stocked and they keep things pretty clean. I have made a friend at this location named Danielle because we have a similar skin type. She has helped me come to many good decisions when buying makeup, and constantly answers any questions I have for her. The manager Sal is also an exemplary employee, very friendly and helpful to everyone and I enjoy conversing with him. Product/ employee review: I'm not usually one to ask for help when it comes to make up, but i finally gave up. I came in needing a color match for a new foundation as I have tried many brands including MAC ( I know, I know.) and nothing seems to work. My oily red skin needs an all day, full coverage, matte finish. Tyler took the job and helped color match me right away and asked all of my needs in a foundation. We decided to test with Nars and Kat Von D. I had heard great things about Kat Von D's line and wanted to try it first. Tyler did a few swatches on my neck before applying to my face, with a clean make up brush I should add, and we got the color matched on the second try. Absolutely fell in love that I didn't even want to try Nars. Tyler got me the box of liquid gold and made me a sample of Becca Matte Primer to try on my T-zone and cheeks. She was so kind, up beat, and very helpful. Also got a new tube of Smash Box primer in green, which is a god send to red skin, Sephora brand bronzer and highlighter, Urban Decay setting spray, and Make Up Forever translucent powder. All of the products including the sample Tyler gave me have kept my skin and foundation from smearing and turning into an oily, shiny mess. I have been shopping here for years Sephora has its pro and its cons which the lines on the weekend I get amazing service when I can because I know how busy it gets I work in retail and I totally understand I see all these customers being rude to half the girls which it's not there fault there just trying to get to everyone by order geessshhh I am a rouge here and I don't expect anything I been rouge for awhile now maybe about 5 years now and I understand the point of it people who are ROUGE expect to be treated like a queen no correction it's just a level u reach u get free makeovers and early rouge discounts and also get to preview the new releases now that's the perk it doesn't mean hey I'm a rouge let me cut in line or let me get the service quick ummmm no!!!! I stand in line like the rest of all the rouge that don't have a problem. Now for the ones that just stand there and expect a sales rep to walk up to them to get help while they are helping someone no!!!! I heart Sephora! Stila, Urban Decay, Benefit, Tarte, Bare Excentuals, Make Up Forever, Laura Mercier, Smashbox, The list goes on and on! I heart one stop shops and Sephora is one of the places that is a one stop shop for the makeup/cosmetic/fragrance lovers. I heart how they have sample displays for you to try the product, have sponges and q-tips and alcohol for customers to use when they want to try on a new foundation or eye shadow. Prices are not cheap but it is about average. The only thing I don't like about Sephora is that they do run out a lot of their products and hardly restocks. I seriously have gone back to the Cerritos Sephora location a few times to locate my favorite Stila foundation powder but it is never there!! I ask the saleslady when they will restock and she tells me she doesn't know but to check back in a few weeks. I know.. the typical standard answer when they don't know. Please please Cerritos Sephora, restock your Stilla foundation powder #40! I swear most of the stila products are hardly restocked whenever I check back at the store. Overall: -I haven't returned items at sephora but I hear that they are pretty understanding if you don't like a product and want to return it. -They also provide free bottle samples on lotion, shampoo, and other items if you ask for it which is nice. -I feel like some of the makeup consultants just bull shit their way whenever you ask them questions. I mean.. I'm not saying all of them are like that.. but I definitely feel like its a hit or miss with the ladies/gentlemen who work there. Some of them really are helpful and know their shit but I have definitely encountered quite a few where you feel and look ridiculous coming out of Sephora after they have demonstrated makeup on your face. -Cashier ladys are always nice and efficient. This is my first Yelp review. I usually just come on here to read other's reviews, but dang I was super ticked off from this Sephora location that I HAD to sign up and vent out. This has to be the WORST Sephora location ever in the history of makeup. Ever. If I could give this place - negative 509685490 stars I would. I've been to the Sephora in SF, Downtown Disney, Hollywood & Highland, and Manhattan Village and all of them have been pretty decent in terms of customer service and the selection of make up they have. Now, I am not the type of girl that likes to be bothered every five seconds by sales associates. A "hi" when I walk in is enough to please me, just leave me to my own devices as I go up and down all the aisles. This is why I come to Sephora and not department store make up counters, so I can frolic up and down the aisles, take my time, and try out all the make up I want without looking like a crazy person. But this place sucks monkey balls! There is no one here to greet you. The associates do not know anything about their merchandise and are very unwilling to help. 99% of them are gossiping amongst themselves. This time in particular the cashiers were obnoxiously chatting away about their clubbing experiences the night before. No, I do not want to hear about your "bangin'" outfit or some dude you were grinding on. It's sad to say I've been here on more than one occasion and today's trip finally sealed the deal for me to never shop here again. Typically, I find that if you do not look like the avid Sephora shopper (really, do I have to walk in with caked on clown makeup to have the sales people take me seriously as a customer?!?) or if you don't purchase a specific dollar amount of merchandise, they will not treat your purchase in the special Sephora manner. No red tissue paper. No free samples. They'll just dump your makeup into the bag, when they obviously already tissue-wrapped and added free samples to the customer being helped in front of you. Okay, I know I could possibly be a bit overly dramatic about a few pieces of tissue paper and some miniscule samples I'll probably end up throwing out anyways. But hey, I want to be treated like everyone else and besides its Sephora's whole selling point: helping yourself to try on the make up, nice wrapping, and free samples included with your purchase. So being used to the fact that they don't always include samples and that special red tissue paper, I've come to not expect it every time I shop there. So today, I just dropped in to grab some Clinique face powder. After grabbing my Matte Medium, I head over to the cashier. Everything goes fine, until the infamous moment when they bag your purchase. No tissue paper. Check. No free samples. Check. (again, like I said, I'm pretty used to this now). BUT, No Sephora shopping bag. WTF??? They put my Clinique powder in a generic ass "Thank You Have a Nice Day" white plastic bag you get at the swap meet. WTF??!?! I look over behind the girl handling my purchase and hello, there's a huge pile of fresh Sephora bags under the counter behind you. I CAN SEE THEM. RIGHT THERE. What a bunch of bullshizz. Really now, Sephora you have hit a new low when it comes to customer service that you cannot not even give your customer a proper shopping bag. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP HERE. Although this store is 1 mile away from my house, I prefer going to the south coast plaza sephora bcz staff here is unprofessional, instead of addressing the customer questions with attention they point at shelf and get back to their chatting, their attitude demonstrate a great bother when they're approached by customers with questions. I don't think the location is understaffed but the 1on 1 chatting is taking all their time. The staff is unprofessional and unfriendly. Don't even know much about the brands. Theres a couple girls that are just outrageously sweet here. I also work in the mall, i stopped in to see if the 500 pt kat von d bag was released, and to my disappointment it was already sold out. The girl at the register offered a couple skin care samples for my sorrow, and i totally appreciated that!!! I feel like she went out of her way to make it up to me! excellent customer service!!! Worst Sephora I've ever been in. I've been in many Sephora's before; some even in other states and this is by far the worst one ever. The store is ridiculously crowded all the time, for starters. I understand that they are located in a crowded mall, but they could do better to keep the crowd managed. Half of the people in there are just 14-year-old girls doing their entire faces with the testers and it's downright annoying. They block up all of the walkways and stand in front of displays so you can't even see products. It's one thing to test products because you want to know how they work, but there are groups of girls, who probably can't even afford the products, in there trying every single tester on their face. And don't even get me started on asking an employee for help. I went in there to find a new foundation and I asked a lady for help. She kind of stood there awkwardly for a minute and then said, "Well what did you want to try?" Um, I don't know that's why I came to you for advice! I then told her I would try the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation and she put it on very sloppy and didn't blend it very well. I then said I wanted to try an Urban Decay foundation and she took me over to another girl who started to put foundation on me. The second girl was even worse than the first. She put about 4 pumps of the product on my face and didn't even blend it so half of my face was lighter than the rest. Then she wanted to try a darker shade on me and had me wipe off a random spot to test it and didn't even give me anything to clean the product off with after she was done. I ended up walking out with three different foundation shades on my face and none of them were blended properly. I felt like I was bothering them when I was asking them to help me find a foundation. The first girl kind of had an attitude and the second girl just didn't seem to know what she was doing. Overall, this is the worst Sephora I have ever been to. Do NOT go here unless it is an absolute last resort for you. They are insanely crowded and have poor customer service. read more

I would not usually go through the trouble to leave a review, but in my frustration I am going through the trouble. I went in today to purchase a new eyeliner. I was happy with my find and purchase the bobby brown perfectly defined gel eyeliner. To my disappointment, when I got home I opened it to see that it was used and the eyeliner was smeared all over the applicator. Honestly, if I knew I would have to go back again this weekend to complain and exchange the product, I would have just bought it at Nordstrom. :( read more

I love the products and like that I earn points... but lately I have been having issues with the cashiers at this store not crediting my Sephora account. I'm shorted points and the dollars spent for the calendar year. I know I have spent over $350 this year, yet my account says that I still need to $254 to go! I called customer service and they added my points but not the dollars spent which goes towards VIB status. Also, the CSR basically said it was my fault for not checking to make sure the purchase went to the correct account. (really!?!) I was frustrated and said thank you and hung up. This store is packed full of people on the weekends! Looks like the cashiers were trying to ring me up fast to get me out of the store, and maybe hoping I wouldn't notice that I didn't get my points. But I did notice....TWICE! Employees aren't very friendly here. You have to ask for help. Not like other Sephora locations where employees proactively ask you if you need help. Additionally, I saw at least 3 employees standing around chatting with each other doing nothing while customers waited around the Sephora makeup counter, including myself. I want to leave a happy customer but Sephora Cerritos has left me an angry, frustrated shopper who also shelled out a lot of $ to not earn points/receive credit for it. What's the point of shopping here if I'm not going to get points for it?? TIP: If you know your color, shop online instead. Does anyone know if Sephora employees get kick back or commission for selling a particular product? I went to this Sephora looking for moisturizer and eye cream. I asked a man for help and he directed me to a woman and said, "she's looking for skin care, I was telling her about Dr. pericone and how it's very good." They exchange a look and she proceeded to hard sell me on all things Dr Perricone. When I asked to see other brands, she poo-pooed EVERY other brand and said cosmetics brand skincare sucks, and Perricone is scientific and an actual treatment. Uh... Aren't MOST of the skincare you sell cosmetics brands? So then I asked specifically to see ole henrickson's truth serum, and she didn't even show it to me before she said, "well you don't want that, let me show you Dr Perricone serums." Are you serious??? At that point I asked for a sample of the eye cream and got this reply, "well if the cream leaves the medical grade glass it looses its properties and won't work." WTF?? I was DONE by that point and honestly, I have spend HUNDREDS at Sephora but they have now lost their credibility. I will NEVER trust anything they say at this store and I'm very weary about other stores now as well. BTW, she reluctantly gave me a sample of the eye cream (enough for tonight and tomorrow morning, she says. So generous! *eye roll*) and the eye cream stings and I'm allergic to the fragrance. I normally love coming to this Sephora & never have a problem until I needed help finding a foundation I had mention to one of the worker she said to go to the studio? (Where the big mirror is and someone will meet) there was two girls there just talking .. and I'm just standing there so I walk up to them , & they kept going on with their conversation at first I didn't mind I get carried away at my work place & talk but one of the girl looked at me then walked away the other she was nice she helped me. But as she was helping me I felt like she was rushing to help me .. she put different foundation shades all over my face & we came across one that was "perfect matched" .. she gave me this little card to give up front . & that was all didn't offer to give me a wipe for my face or "let's try it all over the face to see if it's nice" or anything. I literally stood there tryna rub off all the foundation. I mean she was nice and helpful .. but dang I had different shades all over my face help a girl out could of offered to help take it off or something. This Sephora has poor customer service! Straight to point. Their super busy and uber bothered. I received a pleasant greeting at the entrance and that was about it. I stood around looking lost. Then after a moment I observe them literally ignoring me for about 15 minutes. I had over $100 of merch that I needed and wanted to purchased but after the last snob I simply handed one the reps my basket and said these are for you and excused myself and my coins from this establishment. I had avoided this Sephora for makeup sessions because of the bad customer service but have gone in a couple times recently, including today when I got a 45-min make-over and I'm super impressed. The customer service has really improved greatly and I loved Liz B. The artist I got today, she knew exactly what I wanted without me having to say too much, she's definitely a pro and I would recommend her to anyone. She's very knowledgeable from products to skin-type needs and thanks to her I'll be shopping and getting my makeup done at the Cerritos location again. So happy! read more

The customer service here is usually pretty bad. You have to hunt down the employees, because they're understaffed and a lot of times they have attitude problems. I'm addicted to makeup, but also have extremely sensitive skin. I will sometimes ask for a sample rather than buying a product and returning it. But for some reason they rather I return a product I am unhappy with than give me a sample, go figure. :/ I try to go to other Sephoras, but unfortunately this is the closest to my house. read more

So happy with the service we received yesterday. My daughter was getting glammed up for prom. Took her in where she was immediately introduced to her makeup up artist Priscilla. Lovely young lady. Very welcoming. Long story short she asked my daughter what she had in mind. Discussed colors with her. Priscilla was very thorough. She cleaned, moisturized and prepped her face. Yes you might be thinking , that's whats she supposed to do. But as we all know many young people don't always do what's expected but rather do only what they have to. Plus this store was amazingly busy. I mean wow, non stop traffic. Priscilla got to work and did a fantastic job. Thank you very much for being so professional. Sephora is very lucky to have an employee like you to represent them. I live close to a diff. Location but will now be willing to go a little further to visit Cerritos. Hope there are many other employees working there with the same caliber of knowledge and professionalism as Priscilla. I was so happy and pleased with the results and tried to give her a tip which she refused. I was very insistant, but Priscilla said it was against Sephora policy. So I wanted to make sure she received some type of praise she reserved and thought I would leave a review. I was at Macy's at their Clinique counter, I just wanted one thing and I was rudely ignored, so I gave up and decided it could wait for a different visit. I was so excited, when I discovered that Sephora carries Clinique and they had exactly what I wanted and it was the same price!! I have been coming here for a while since my house is in the area. So far I have naver had any problem with customer service at any places I went to. But today, I have experienced the worst type. It was around 5pm, 10/10/18, I went in and needed some help. So I just asked a girl name Jenny to show me some of the thing I was looking for. She seemed nice at first. Until it came to the paying part. I don't know what was wrong with her. She showed her attitude to me, I dont really notice until my friend told me. I went here last night to get a new foundation, concealer, and primer. The girl did the color IQ thing and brought me the products that she thought best fit me. I tried it on this morning and it was a nightmare! The foundation was, no joke, 4 shades too dark for me, as was the concealer. I had told her that i have very fine lines around my eyes and needed a concealer that would't settle into them but still had a good, full coverage. The one she sent me home with completely disappeared into the lines in less than an hour, even after I set it with a powder. I went to a different location today and they matched me to the right color. Now I have to go take back a bunch of products. read more

I feel like it's a bit and miss at this Sephora. Sometimes the associates are super kind and talk to you as they are helping and are overall just friendly. However, there are other times when associates are off putting and rude. For the most part, for me, they are extremely nice and try and help find the perfect match for anything you need or helping locate a product. They do get over crowded sometimes, especially on the weekend. Last night I went into Sephora super late, like almost close to closing, and Clarissa helped me with my eyebrows and which product I should use. She was super nice and helpful. I love Sephora but never again coming back to this one. They have a limited stock of all my favorite items. Staff was friendly except for one and just my luck I landed at her register. I been here a few times hoping it would get better but FAIL ! Staff here sucks ! They have a bundle of staff but when you ask for help they direct you to someone else or tell you they'll be with you in a little but it never happens or it takes forever and a day ! The girls at the doors stand there and greet you but won't move away to help you. I saw a lady asking advice about perfume and the staff said "I don't know, I don't use that one."
