Im not an everyday makeup wearer so I went to Sephora with a friend to help me purchase some nice products for a wedding I was in. The foundation we got the first time I realized was to light after wearing it a couple of times, so I went yesterday to try to get a darker color. I was greeted right away by a man and woman and I told them what I was there for. The woman took me right away to the section I needed and helped me find a darker color. I found out later that her name is Kay. Kay grabbed samples and applied different testers on my face and hand for me to see what I liked. She then complimented my skin and complection and asked if she could recommend a different coverage. She walked me to the other side of the store where she did the same thing with the testers. I wasn't a fan only because I'm not an expert and I just don't have the knowledge and skill to "build" foundation, so my naive mind wanted something "thicker". Kay walked me to the man that she was standing with when I walked in! I found out his name is Matthew. Kay explained to him my debuckle and he took me straight to a brand and asked if he could apply a sample on my face. It was a perfect match and exactly what I wanted. I asked Matthew for 2 other products that he grabbed for me on the way back from the stock room. Kay returned to see how we were doing and complimented the makeup and congratulated us with the match. Matthew was so kind and Kay was so patient with my inexperience. They both took the time to help me out and sample some brands until I found the perfect match for my skin! It was a pretty busy day there too. Great customer service, friendly, knowledgeable about their products, and gave me great advice! read more

Listen. I like makeup an average amount. I don't watch tutorials or spend a lot of time on it in my daily life so I'm ALL about asking for help at Sephora. So many times I've gone in places (not Sephora specific) and have been swayed into purchasing something that just wasn't what I wanted with promises that I looked amazing or fierce. So, with trepidation, I went to the Sephora that's closest to my new place. Ari was there and made it so worth the trip. She color matched me and understood what I wanted/was looking for. I love what I got and didn't even have buyers remorse after walking out $250 poorer. My makeup is still easy to do, has staying power, and gives me the look I'm going for. Thank you Ari! My family love Sephora, but we were in Fremont this afternoon and my mom went to the mirror area she didn't realize it was "save for a make up by apt only" I over heard a lady how she told my mom. Maybe you guys put some big signs on both sides. There's only 1 sign on the front. Maybe train your staff to respect elderly/customers to say it in a nice way! We were very upset. read more

Came here to pick up an order. When I was provided with the email it stated that they closed at 8pm. I'm here at 7:25pm and of course they closed at 7pm. It's frustrating because I wasn't the only person who thought they closed at 8pm due to their online hours. Now I will have to come back and I live 40 min away. I was only coming here to pick something up that I ordered online. Smh. Go elsewhere or call before you come to this store. I went to return a delivery that was damaged completely because of being left in the middle of the driveway and the manager said oh we can make an exception right now but you won't get your 500 points back. I went to get the same item that was damaged - they didn't have it in the store. Both cases were not my fault and I just lost my $10 and they said sorry we can't do anything about it! I came in here to get a new foundation because the one I was using was a little too tan for my skin tone. I asked one of the workers if she could help me pick a shade, and of course she did. She swatched about 3 different shades on me face, after I asked her to do it on my neck. Anyways, she recommended the shade 190 from the Fenty foundation (Im mixed, so my skin tone is a tan-ish brown). When I saw the foundation, it looked really light but since she is a worker, I assumed she knew it was the right shade. When I got home, and I tried it on, and the foundation was way too light for my skin. It was really disappointing. If you don't know how to find the correct shade for a customer, then don't do it. read more

Really bad service during covid. People are waiting outside for an hour and the line barely moved. Most people come to return so they should have a cashier outside and eliminate the pine, will ya? My experience with makeup and beauty is somewhere between a novice and intermediate, so of course I have to ask for help and get some knowledge in before I choose anything out of Sephora's glamorous arrangement. This is why I like to come in and make conversation, which is where Kay M. came in! She was so patient and honestly just a dream to talk to. She not only answered all of my questions with amicability, she also shared with me that her passion is in makeup. 07/19/2020 Update . I finally found out her name. She mostly works behind the register. Name starts with an "S". Today I totally felt the "fakeness" vibe. I'm surprised she even still works here after 4 months of Shelter in Place ! Pretty sad if she's the manager ! I'll have to agree with every negative and one star review here. Unfortunately, for us girls that life in the tri-City Newark.. Fremont.. Union City area, this would be our closest Sephora location. 2 stars because once in a blue moon you'll get that one employee that is super helpful or nice but most of the time... forget it. Want to try to return or exchange something ?? Then get get ready to feel like you've done a crime. The two times I've return items here and exchanged them for other items, I've gotten them same rude and stoic faced employee who seems like she just absolutely hates her job. I really don't want to write descriptions on here but I wish I knew her name. I've gotten the best costumer service at the stoneridge and valley fair location. Got up early and made it to the store early so I could take my time with color matches and I was a bit nervous on how things would work in the COVID era. For the past year I have done most of my shopping online and this was my first step back into semi normal shopping. When I arrived at Sephora they had hand sanitizer set up and representatives waiting to greet you. Each young lady explained kindly the store mask policy and asked each customer how they could assist. It felt like each customer had a personal assistant to help them with their store needs. I had Kay. She walked me through the store answering every question and making wonderful suggestions! She is truly knowledgeable and most of all kind. I felt so good I even decided to get perfume as well. With everything going on it was nice to have a wonderful experience and a distraction from things. I will be back! read more

This place is conveniently located in Pacific Commons, so if you want to grab some food then shop, it's your place to go! After my friend and I went to get some lunch, we decided to check out this relatively new Sephora location. Sooo glad that Pacific Commons decided to have a Sephora, it's so much closer than the mall for me. Although there is Ulta nearby, I prefer Sephora. The shop is super clean and well lit. As soon as we entered, the employees greeted us and asked if we needed any help finding anything. Since we were just here to look around, we just looked and tried on some makeup. I found that most of the testers here were not used before (Yay)! You barely see unused testers in Sephora and I was glad to be the first one using it. Also, at other locations, many of the testers are broken, or really gross, but these ones were clean. The displays were very neat and well sorted. Usually, Sephora is really busy and it is very hard to ask an employee for help, but there were many employees you could ask if you needed help finding something. Overall, super nice store and super nice employees. 10/10 would come here again! read more

Yay! Finally a Sephora in Pacific Commons! Over the weekend, I wanted to check out the new location and I was pleased that it was not packed like other Sephora locations. Even better that there was no wait at check out! Most of the sales associates I encountered were friendly and helpful. However the two associates that were the most memorable was Deztiny and one individual at the fragrance area (sadly, I didn't get her name). This location is smaller than other locations I have been to, but they still offer a great variety of items. Everything was clean and in stock, location is convenient, and parking was easy. Most Sephora's I've been to the staff are friendly but it's hard to get someone's attention! With this grand opening, it's nice that they have sufficient staff to help out with all my beauty needs. The staff are really knowledgeable and want to understand your background so they can better assist you! I ended up getting the Laneige water mask as well as hot and cool two step duo mask and love both! I also asked the staff what their number one selling face product (not makeup) and she gave me a sample of the fresh soy cleanser. Tried it when I got home and instantly ordered it online. I didn't want anything coming in but ended up with some great finds! Definitely a fun place to shop :) read more

I went here for the Friends and Family appreciation event last Sunday. I am so thrilled they opened a Sephora in Fremont as I don't really like dedicating more time to go to the south or up north. This is the only Sephora in range around my house and although it doesn't have the products that I initially wanted upon walking in, I ended up finding great products that I didn't know existed. The workers here are a little intimidating at first but once you get their attention, all the attention is on you until you're satisfied with what information you need to decide what to purchase. The one time I asked for help with foundation, the girl rushed me and sounded irritated when I questioned her recommendation so I stopped asking for help. This specific incident was where I drew the line- I had a couple items in my hand and wanted to walk around some people standing in my way to check out another brand. In order to do this I had to walk around the makeup counter (which is close to the door). I saw a worker rush to throw herself in front of the door. I gave her an awkward look as I passed by her because was starring at what I had in my hands. I immediately regretted being there. They must have frequent burglaries because I saw a similar review to this. She assisted me right away and I felt so comfortable with her. I was so excited for the new Pacific Commons Sephora that I dragged my poor boyfriend out on a Friday evening to their grand opening. The DJ, mini cupcakes, macaroons, and booze were a nice treat. The perfume employee was very attentive in helping us discover new scents based on our preferences and packing samples. Although the skincare employee was obviously busy, she still helped point me in the right direction of Laniege's lip sleeping mask. Lots of others were also helpful, occasionally asking whether I needed help or if I needed a basket. What started out as a great experience then went downhill fast. The e-mail invitation we received mentioned a purchase of $25+ for a complimentary tote bag, and I noticed some customers swiping them out of the bins as I browsed the store. Not just one single bag, some people took more without the employees saying anything. As expected, there'd be long lines; however, it wasn't clear that a separate line had formed for customers who wanted to pay by card. Finally, I'm next for the register, and they run out of bags with the customers before me around 6:50pm. Big scene and upset customers. I get up there and I'm told ApplePay doesn't work when her card reader clearly says ApplePay. Then I'm told my card is declined. I try it again. Declined. And I'm sooooooo embarrassed, because it worked earlier at lunch. Now I'm holding up this long line digging through my wallet. Not enough cash, so I frantically grab my debit card. Then I'm told a bag is 10 cents instead of offering it in lew of the tote. I felt rushed and wasn't asked if I wanted to use my reward points. I left fuming with the 3 Dr.Jart+ rubber masks in hand without my credit card's cash back rewards, reward samples, nor a bag. I immediately call up my credit card about to cuss someone out, and they tell me they never even received a transaction and that it was the merchant's POS machines. I try my card again elsewhere, and it works. All in all, Sephora needs to get their POS together and should have anticipated that they didn't have infinite bags ahead of time. YAY! A Sephora in Fremont! Its dangerous to have a Sephora so close to home! I swear Pacific Commons has everything you would need and more! I came here on opening day and it was PACKED! The opening was well done with a Dj, champagne, cupcakes and free totes. I think they should of hired more artist's for the opening day to support the massive crowd. I love the variety of make up here! I noticed they carried a lot of high end brands that most Sephora's do not carry some times. I'm pretty new to makeup, so I usually feel hesitant to ask questions and tend to research products on my own. But, today was the last day for my 20% off discount code sent to me from a friend that works at Sephora (Employee Appreciation code). So, I decided to stop by and get color matched for the new highly coveted Fenty foundation. I went up to one of the employees towards the front, and they put my name down for the color matching. They said it would be about 15-20 minutes, but it only took about 10. The employee that helped me swatched 3 shades of Fenty foundation on my face, as well as my neck. She was really helpful and friendly. Sadly, I didn't catch her name. The shade she liked the most on me was 260, and I agreed. After this, she used a brush to apply my entire face with the foundation in that shade to see if I liked how it looked or not. She suggested to wait a few minutes and got me seated for the foundation to set, as it oxidizes. I loved how it looked on me! I was so ready to buy it, however, they were out of stock in my shade. I really appreciated how she took the time to help a newbie like me and she wasn't pushy about it or rushing me either. As soon as I got home, I ordered the foundation online! I came here after lunch around late January just to shop around but like some of the reviews here, I agree that some workers here have major attitude problems. First, there was this lady working at the left side of the store near the entrance where they do makeup for you. She did not even greet me and gave me this very judgmental look. Second, this worker almost bumped when she turned a corner and she apologized. BUT a couple minutes after, I caught her passing me with this sour look. Third, I was having trouble looking for Huda Beauty, so I proceeded to ask the lady mentioned in my first point to ask for help. I asked very politely if they carried anything from Huda Beauty, and she answers immediately, "No we don't carry her products here" as if she doesn't want to deal with me. She then asks what I was specifically looking for, and I told her the Nude palette. She THEN says, "Oh nevermind we do have that palette" and showed me the way. I didn't want to be mean so I said thank you in the nicest way. My complaint is that she had the AUDACITY to treat me like that and tried to lie so she wouldn't have to deal with me. I did not do ANYthing to deserve this treatment or treat the workers bad, yet they did this to me. I hope that the management deals with this kind if attitude, otherwise that place ain't making income for the company. read more

Literally no one here has good customer service skills. I went here with my mom one day because she needed to get two items for herself. I walked around a little just looking and browsing, not intending on buying anything. My mom wanted to get shade matched for something because the color she had wasn't perfect as it was. We walked toward the front of the store where they had the mirrors where they do their services. There were two employees standing by the shade finder area and my mom and I stood there. We were standing there for probably 3 minutes as two of the workers were chatting away. One was leaving to break or leaving for the day, and I presume the other was sending her off, final chats and whatnot. But, there were two customers (my mom and I) clearly standing there in need of assistance and they didn't at once acknowledge us. We both stood facing right at them, so clearly it's not like they were unsure of whether or not we needed help. When the worker finally left, the remaining one turned to us and asked if we needed help. We said we wanted a shade match and then she told us someone else would do it. She directed us to the person who would help us, and the service did not get much better. While my mom was getting shade matched, the person helping us did not smile or even look happy once. She literally looked like it was an agonizing task to be helping us when.. it's her job. She looked like she wanted to leave the entire time as if she had something better to do and we were not worth her while. She had an attitude like she was doing charity work helping us. TLDR; The customer service here is terrible and the attitudes of the workers are terrible as well. Would not come here again unless you want to be ignored and treated like a charity case. read more

I usually come to this Sephora when I'm in the area or need something urgent since it's the closest one to me. I walked in and looked around a bit looking to ask someone for a shade match but all the workers seemed to be walking to the back and the one on the floor was already helping someone. It was hard to try and get someone elses help and there were a couple others trying to find help as well. I finally got help by the only one on the floor and she was super helpful and directed all her attention towards me which saved my review for this location! Not sure if they're just short staffed but it was a little busy this day and inconvenient how there was only one person on the floor. read more

Let me start off by saying I've never had a problem with their customer service.. HOWEVER, they're security guards are a different story. I've come in once before & got followed by their security guard, weird & uncomfortable. Second time I came in today & again got followed. I was greeted before I came in & proceeded to the back of the store where the Moroccan hair care is. As I'm looking at the products I look up and THERE HE IS walking straight towards me. He stops right next to me, stares & me, and then proceeds to walk back to his chair at the front of the store. I guess I wouldn't be so offended if he was just doing his "rounds" but no, he specifically walked over to me & walked right back. Sephora shouldn't let their customers be treated like criminals before they even start shopping. Also, wouldn't it be wise if your a security guard to be a little less obvious that your lurking? read more

I've had my fair share of run ins with pushy salespeople, but never have I had a pushy salesperson try to trick me into applying for credit card, that is until last night at this location. The cashier tells me I've been pre-approved for a CC and asks if I'd like to take the offer, I politely decline and note that my credit needs some work as I still have student loans to pay off. She says no worries and continues with what I though was the normal transaction. Instead of the normal prompts, I notice I'm being asked for my phone number again, no problem, I enter it into the system. Then it asks me for the last 4 digits of my social security number. Now alarmed, I ask the cashier if this is a new standard procedure for purchases and she tells me that it's to finalize the contract for the card I've been pre-approved for. I remind her that I had declined the offer and she asks me if I'm sure I don't want to "just go ahead with CC" I tell her for a third time that I don't want the card and she finally cancels the screen prompts and rudely tells me my total and to insert my card. After this the transaction ended quickly and I left somewhat shocked that this had happened. Not saying this salesperson was an awful person, but I do think the excessive sales pressure from upper management is likely the reason behind the pushy-ness. Sephora should treat its salespeople better than this so that they don't have to resort to shady sales tactics like the one I saw last night. For reference, I came in about half an hour before closing and although I saw her name tag, I don't remember the salespersons name, I do remember that I started with an S...be careful out there. read more

This was an expansive Sephora! Much more items of every brand compared to other Sephoras I've been to. I saw an expanded selection of Drunk Elephant (did you know there is a drunk elephant lip balm?!), Sephora brand (tinted moisturizers, eyebrow pencils, etc.), and Supergoop (all the variations of sunscreen--the stick, the powder variations, and the liquid sunscreens). Unfortunately, the customer service here was patchy. One woman was super helpful but 3 others were not. A lot of them were talking amongst themselves and not helping customers. When I looked for a sales associate to help me get a sample of Olaplex No. 6, there was no one around. All of the sales associates were congregated around the makeup section. I would not return to this Sephora. Half the reason I go Sephora is for the expertise of the sales associates and I did not get that here. read more

I honestly don't have anything negative to say about this location. It's closer to home than the other Sephora's, every employee has treated me with respect and has been very helpful. They also carry a lot of brands. I guess my only complaint would be there has been times they are out of stock for certain products, but I would say that's more of the company's fault than the employees. Unless the employees just didn't really check the back for the product?? Lol Overall my experience has always been pleasant at this location. Honestly, one employee by the name of Ashley saved this location from getting a lower star-rating. Thank you for being so kind and helpful over the phone and in person! I called to see if the store had a certain shade from the Fenty beauty foundation thy every other store seemed to be sold out of, luckily they had it here! Ashley was very warm and very genuine as far as wanting to help customers out. She put the foundation on hold for me until the EOD. I was hoping to purchase the primer from the line as well but when I got to the store they were completely out so I asked for a sample. The associate that helped me out I had to flag down even though she wasn't helping by one... forgot to mention I've been to this location one other time and both times the associates seem to have greeting the customer in a timely manner but THATS IT. If you ask them a question about a product they aren't very helpful at all. So back to the Fenty primer sample.... I came home and opened the little zip baggy to try it out with the foundation and I was SOOOOO annoyed. I was hoping I'd get a good enough sample for AT LEAST two applications of makeup to last me until I was able to actually buy the product and she literally gave me the size to cover maaaaaybe one eyelid.
