Every Sephora store I visit is just as wonderful as the last one. Sephora stores in general are very consistent with their service, which is why I love them. The Manhasset store was no exception, although I had to look for someone to help me instead of being approached. I went in to get a custom makeover for a night out and was very pleased with the results. I made the appointment online the day before, was quickly helped and was out in no time. I have just received such amazing customer service from the sales staff at this location. Lisa I believe her name is helped me create a whole new skin regimen after I explained my current skin issues. She even had two other sales associates weigh in their opinions regarding her recommendations. They (I forgot their names. I think Kim was one of their names) were so helpful as well. I specifically go out of my way to go to Roosevelt Field Sephora even though I'm closer Manhasset. Last time I went in there they didn't have those little areas to try on your makeup - or at least not enough of them for me to locate. That defeats the entire purpose of trying to find new products to like and try and buy. Also the staff isn't friendly so I prefer to avoid this one. read more

This may be the worst Sephora around. I will go further out of my way to Roosevelt field. No one greets you, no one helps you, you have to chase the employees down to get any assistance even when they're clearly not busy helping anyone. I had a horrible experience with a girl nameD Irene- who not only was chewing her gum with her mouth open and smacking it, but she was also sooo rude! I was never so angry visiting a store. My wife and I were visiting the store and since I do not know anything about makeup, she was trying to translate the product information with her phone. I was trying to help her and few employees walked by thinking they would help but instead, they told us not to take pictures and walked away!! To see her only to chat with another employee. Came in to buy a makeup pencil sharpener and the help was really nice. I found the sharpener and purchased a perfume called Pinrose which is a wonderful scent for summer. There was ample parking and this location is much nicer than Roosevelt field. read more

The worst customer service! The staff needs to be properly trained on being customer service reps. The cashier i had was rude, frustrated and downright putrid. I went in to purchase a gift card with my toddlers before having lunch down the lane at Toku and the cashier was just disgusting. Rolling eyes, blaming me for "freezing her register" before handing me off to another cashier. i held my tongue because of my kids but made sure she knew she was a nasty person before leaving the store. Would never recommend anyone to shop there. The managers need to really step up and do a better job training their people. If u dont want to help people, dont get a job serving people. read more

I've been coming to this location for over 5 years, I won't be returning again. I ran in Wednesday morning to grab two things, the first thing being a make up brush. I didn't see the specific one I was looking for and asked the nearest employee. She literally huffed and puffed and ignored me... (I was the only customer in the store!) so I went over again and asked if she could please help me... she rolled her eyes! And Finally came over and with a nasty attitude..I was so thrown off by the experience bc I was nothing but polite and even remained that way towards this nasty person.. if you're not a morning person, don't work a morning shift. Unfortunately I didn't get her name (all I know, she had on one of the red/black outfits, shoulder length hair, highlights in hair) after being so rude she stormed off like a complete child, it was extremely strange... I ended up asking another employee for help, and thankfully she was helpful with out being rude. I'll take my business elsewhere! I love Sephora overall, but this Manhasset location has the worst staff. The manager does a wonderful job doing damage control, (after her staff has screwed up, or acted unprofessionally). I just don't know WHY at such an upscale location, they have hood staff, with attitudes. It's so unfortunate, but every time I have shopped there in the past year, it's always the hood staff that has an attitude towards customers. I mean really? I'm there to spend my money, and all I want is to deal with staff that is professional. Not once, aside from dealing with the manager, have I ever gotten that when I've shopped there. Sephora needs to re-think their staffing choices there, and find more suitable employees for that location. read more

I was pretty surprised by the low rating, but I do notice many of the reviews here are rather old. Many of the older reviews report bad customer service. I consider myself pretty critical of customer service at retailers (I'm from the south and I also worked in retail in college, so I know how a customer should be treated), but I was pretty impressed by the customer service here. I had several people ask me if I needed help, and there were lots of employees around the store to help. They also threw some free samples in my shopping bag without me needing to ask. I've knocked off one star here for two reasons: 1. The Sephora brand brush wall was a bit disorganized and it was hard to find brushes. Good thing I had looked online before I came and knew what I was looking for was in stock (I recommend doing this anyways just so you don't waste your time), otherwise I would have left thinking they didn't have several of the brushes I was looking for. Aside from the disorganization they actually even had a sign over one of the brushes I was looking for and if I didn't lift the sign (which most people probably wouldn't do), I wouldn't have found it. 2. Stock is nowhere near what I'd like it to be for some of my favorite brands, especially Bobbi Brown. They have a huge sign on the door that they carry Bobbi now, but the selection is limited. Many of even her top selling items are online only. This isn't really against just this location but Sephora in general, but of course, space is limited in a retail store. All in all, will be back. I am writing this review because this is the store where my transaction was declined. Although it is a company policy and the young woman at the register was apologetic. DO NOT BUY GIFTS FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AT SEPHORA! They only allow one return without a receipt for 365 days! I had to return several gifts and could only return 1. On top of that- I was making the return for someone else and now the credit is in MY name and only I can make a purchase. I have not seen such a policy. I will use up this credit and then NEVER shop at SEPHORA again! read more

Went into the Manhassett location today. I normally go to the Columbus Circle one near my job but wanted to get my makeup today. It took me 20 minutes to get someone to help me. The girl that helped me was rude. I asked for a sample of a makeup I wanted to try and she told me "I can't give you a powder sample" in a nasty tone. I told her it was liquid and she very rudely said to me"that's not what you said. You didn't say it right". First of all, she is young enough to be my daughter so how dare she speak to me like that. I just kept killing her with kindness. I spent over 150.00 today and would have spent more but was so disgusted with that I went to macys where I spent $200 on skincare that I could have gotten there! I usually love Sephora and find the staff amazing, but I recently purchased what I thought was a Kiehl's overnight hydrating mask. To my disappointment, once I opened my newly bought cream I realized the employee had swapped out the overnight mask with the wrong product. Kiehl's products tend to look the same, but I'm extremely disappointed by this mix up especially after already removing the seal:( read more

If you need your makeup done, go to Theresa!! I came in for my custom makeover appointment at 11am. Since the store had just opened at 11 (it was a Sunday), some artists were still coming in, and I had to wait for about 15 minutes before someone was there to do my makeup. They checked me in, sat me in a chair, and someone came over to prep my skin (so sorry I can't remember her name, but she was lovely). I guess because I had to wait so long, they gave me a mini facial! It was so nice. They were very apologetic and kept checking in on me, but since I was in no rush, I was totally chill. Theresa did my makeup perfectly: I told her what I was looking for, and she made some changes and suggestions that worked well for what I needed. I ended up restraining myself and didn't purchase everything she put on my face, but since all the products she picked were so great, it was really hard not to buy them all!! She even gave me some tips and talked through everything she was doing so I can (hopefully) recreate the look myself! She was incredibly sweet and all the staff were so helpful and cheerful. Came in to get a makeover and was presented to Zee. She gave a great first impression because her makeup was flawless. I sat down and she got straight to work. She repeatedly asked to make sure what she was doing was what I requested which it was. My finished look was beautiful!! I continued to receive compliments from other makeup artists at the store which made me feel fabulous. The customer service here is on point! Everyone is so nice and helpful even if you're just looing for samples. They also don't give you a hard time when you're returning something without a reciept which is nice for people like me who throw them away as soon as I get them. They have great quality products unlike Ulta and it's nice to just park close by and not have to traipse through a mall just for a lipstick. I would definitely recommend this location for any beauty needs. I only wish they would run more 10% off sales instead of once a year. read more

the people there can really be hot. One lady was super helpful and even gave me some tips and pointers when i expressed problems with the products i have been using. Another woman seemed like I was bothering her when i asked her for another opinion on a primer. I noticed that the cashier didn't treat one of the customers so well because she came in without a reciept and wanted cash and demanded free samples. I mean I wouldn't either if i was in that situation. BUT i personally didn't have a problem with him at all. Only major con, which probably happens at all stores, they always suggest a really expensive product or a product that's really popular, which if you're not willing to pay for, they don't often give you alternatives unless you specify you want to try another product as well. read more

I love this location because it's nestled nicely in between my house and my place of employment. Super convenient and always has a good amount of items in stock, especially items that are in high demand right after launch. Well then why the 3 stars you're wondering? Well out of all the Sephoras I frequent (and yes I go to Sephora like once a week) this is the only location that has a large amount of rude employees. No one ever wants to help. They see you looking for someone and always duck in the back room or pretend to be helping someone else. The cashiers are rude as well. Not all, but most. Absolutely do not recommend! I was excited to see a Sephora at this location but was almost immediately disappointed when I entered the store. The staff was rude, abrupt and acted as if I was doing them a favor by coming in! Initially, I came looking for a new foundation and first off, it took close to 20 minutes (and that's being kind) to get someone to actually help me, not just hand me off to another associate. When I asked about a primer or skin care to help smooth some of the fine lines on my face, the makeup artist told me to get Botox. Thanks. I was looking for a non- surgical route, hence makeup, but I'll be sure to pass that note on. The color was wrong, and when I said I didn't like the finish, the associate was irritated and asked another woman to help me. I left with samples and no urgency to return. When I did go back, out of desperation, I was greeted with the same curt manner and handed off from one sales associate to another. Does anyone here actually like their job?? Or are they just working here for the discount? Surprisingly, the women in skincare are lovely and very helpful. Shame on you Sephora! Ulta and department stores for now on. Went in looking to exchange some products I purchased I was not happy with. I wandered my way into the fragrance department and was greeted warmly from Anjam. I'm always looking for a new fragrance however my body chemistry always changes the scent rather quickly and I voiced that longevity was extremely important to me. Anjam asked me what fragrances I wear now, we chit chatted a bit and she patiently helped me letting me smell many different perfumes. We narrowed it down to 3 I enjoyed and she gladly gave me 3 samples so I could test them before purchasing. I really appreciated her humbleness and patience. As a makeup artist of 8 years and reformed sales associate and management of a few prestigious cosmetic companies, it was a breath of fresh air to be assisted by an employee in the cosmetics field with me understanding of how stressful it can be, who is happy doing what they do for a living and are willing to help without making it seem like you are a nuisance because you are not purchasing on the spot. Updated, January 19, 2016: I am really liking Sephora and their customer service. After my complaint to Sephora about the "misuse" of TRE data to reject a return, I spoke to a manager and provided details of my recent experience. He authorized my return for store credit (the two items were NEW and UNUSED / Unopened). With this store credit, my 16 year old daughter was able to buy her NEW favorite products from Kat Von D. I would like to remind EVERYONE who buys a gift at Sephora to remember to ASK for a GIFT RECEIPT so the recipient can return / exchange for the product / color they really want. Better yet, a gift card is nice. We are very happy with the service and selection at Sephora Manhasset and will return....many more times. It's our go-to place for upscale cosmetics and skin care products. ORIGINAL REVIEW in December, 2015: This past Dec. 25th, my teenage daughter received a gift (without a receipt) for two cosmetic items purchased at SEPHORA. Since she is underage, I went to our local Manhasset store on Dec. 28th to exchange the two, new and unopened items for store credit. I was denied because the RAR (Retail activity report) from TRE (The Retail Equation) showed I returned three items on Dec. 29, 2014 to Sephora (last Christmas' cosmetics that she didn't like). It didn't matter that we spent the store credit from 2014 at Sephora. The notice says I cannot do further returns for another 365 days....so that means that I can only return Christmas presents once every two years? It's about $80 value for two items. I can go to my sister-in-law and ask for a receipt so she knows we don't like her gift; it may cause family angst and embarrassment. Why deny my request for store credit (in 2015) based on a RAR showing I returned $ 80 worth of goods for store credit in 2014. Doesn't store credit mean that a customer can trade a product they don't want for one that makes them happy? Does Sephora want unhappy customers or are they saying "go shop somewhere else?" Does Sephora not understand that a teenager with $ 80 store credit shopping with her mother's magic credit card will spend vastly MORE than $ 80 over the course of a year? The problem seems to be that I returned three small items last year AFTER Christmas. A year later, another two items for store credit. All items new and unused, in original packaging that can be resold. I must truly be abusing the return policy. Apparently, the RAR didn't show Sephora how much money we spend annually at Sephora. My daughter loves the URBAN Decay line. So much so, that every year for the past 3 years, she gets the SAME gift, Palette #3...which is why we need to return it. She also likes NARS cosmetics. Maybe the lesson is "if you give a gift from Sephora, remember to provide the gift receipt to the recipient". Otherwise, DO NOT purchase any gifts from Sephora because they will NOT provide store credit for new and unopened packages. read more

Of all the sephora stores my daughter and I have visited in long Island or the city for that matter, this store has the nicest people working here. They seem more laid back than other stores, even if they no longer make commission on sales. They don't carry all the brands here (like Burberry), but I have a pleasant time when the makeup artists try and help me find the perfect foundation or concealer. read more
