The store is too small to accomodate weekend/holiday crowds. The employees probably don't work on commission because not all of them are nice or helpful. My first Sephora experience was actually wonderful. I had a dream two nights ago that I went to Sephora for my first time. In the dream it had an ice cream counter in the back. It was a long clean cherrywood colored high counter that spread the entire width of the back wall of the store. It was beautiful and clean, and beautiful girls were serving up glitter ice cream. There was a light shade of pink glitter ice cream, and I ordered a cone. There were amazing trinkets and smells and tiny treasures. I awoke from the dream with a new mission. To GET TO SEPHORA!!! ( I hurried to the store yesterday, with my dream fresh on my mind) Yesterday, when I entered the actual store in real life, the dream seemed absolutely befitting. The black and white theme stripes seemed like a candy counter feel. And instead of ice cream, there were circus style make-up boxes and a carnival of candy eye creams and shadows. There were marshmallow powder puffs and glitter of the densest qualities. I fell in love with it. Plus, they had all my favorite woods-ish and dusting of flower perfumes. And cellulite creams that read some terrific ingredients that could actually help. Maybe not change much, but help ...circulation? I didn't buy one thing, and decided to save up to go back and buy lots of things. Plus, I get some great deals on the real perfumes if I purchase online. Love this place! Always friendly and super helpful. This place can be super busy and crowded or a constant flow of business. You get a friendly greeting. Staff has always had positive attitudes and just willing to help. They are very knowledgable and always giving recommendations. I like that it's clean and organized. I like how they section their areas and are neat. Sometimes, no lie, it is overwhelming because there is SOOO MUCH/many options..(never a bad thing) The register/check out lines move swiftly and the temperature is not bad either, you're not freezing or sweating to death (which normally happens in long lines). The music is good/ok (top hits for Pop I believe). Somewhat loud for my taste, but it's cool it sets the mood/tone. The main reason I shop here for makeup is because of the insider points which you can retrieve sample goodies, but I just save my points (I believe every dollar is a point).Other places like MAC, Macy's, Nordstorm don't offer that. Great experience this evening finding a color match for my most favorite lipstick no longer in stock. Received immediate offer for help with a solution by who appeared to be a lead manager. She located a specialist who persisted until she located a color match in another makeup line but with the same consistency, etc..I applaud both ladies who provided a personable and a positve experience. read more

This is an update for a previous post on a different account. I've been to this location and the one at Galleria. I'll be honest, it's one of the worst feeling as a customer who use to get excited going to Sephora to get samples and make a purchase. I walk in and literally see two sephora employee at the by the door, and they didn't greet me. So basically, I would feel uncomfortable and unwanted, so I leave immediately. Bad customer service much. I wonder to myself if it's the way I dress, or the way I look. They used to greet me all the time. Yes, the crowds can be a bit overwhelming and the check-out line is always long, but this location is in a mall so... what else would you expect? I really LOVE this location because, despite how busy the store is, an employee is always there to help you. The girls are super knowledgeable about makeup and how different products interact with different skin types. Just a heads up, the lighting in the store can make color-matching a bit difficult. One thing I did notice walking into this Sephora is that everyone greets you even if they are helping someone which is nice as compared to the treatment I got at the SF Sephora. I had called yesterday to see if they carried a certain product I was looking for and they did. I did try to find it on my own, but couldn't locate it and I was helped out pretty quickly. The staff here is very judgemental. I came here after a spin class and I was still in my work out clothes and I received no welcome or any help when needed. I went home and got ready for the rest of my day (put makeup on) and arrived at Sephora and the same staff was there. I got treated completely different. I received help the entire time even though the store was busier during the prior time I came in! I'm really all about customer service and this experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Generally speaking I don't like to buy alot of expensive make-up (because it doesn't look any different frankly) but occasionally I'll take a trip to Sephora to see that they've got. Although they have a great selection and more products then you can ever dream of needing, my main complaint is the service and the prices. They salesgirls are nice but they follow you around CONSTANTLY. Ever corner I turned there was someone asking me about this product, that product, have I tried this before? Do i paint my nails? Etc etc. And for me, a college student, the prices are waaaay too much. $18 dollars for a tube of lip-gloss is a bit much. So it $10 for a bottle of nail-polish. I come here about twice a year to stock up on a few products. It's always a mixed bag for me at Sephora. I either get four people that ask me if I need help; or ignored by everyone. Hah! A few years ago they had a rep from the GoSmile teeth whitening product at this location... She was nice and sold me on the product. I took it home, used it for the couple weeks, and it did nothing for my teeth. I was so upset, it was a pricey and I still had my receipt. I went back to the store and explained to the employee how disappointed I was and if I could get a store refund or anything. I went to the Sephora inside JCP to check out if they had the skin color IQ service, and they did. I had that done by a girl named Jacqueline. She was pretty nice and helped me find a foundation to match my skin tone. Pretty much did my face and little bit of contour. The actual store inside Arden Fair is bigger, but with the same helpful girls walking around. I like how they ask if you need help, and then walk away when you tell them you don't need any. I appreciate sales girls who don't hover. Products wise, I wish they had MAC but that's a corporate issue, not a store one. They still have a pretty good selection of brands I use. Although their Anastasia Beverly Hills corner (by the door) could use a little sprucing up. The samples are all busted and it looks low on stock. In fact, most of the samples are all over the place. I blame the customers who are heavy handed with the powders and creams (what kind of messy women are they??) but the girls on the floor should maybe also make sure their displays aren't caked with product. Another issue is their lighting. It is dark in there, both in store and the JCP one. There is no natural lighting or any semblance of it. When you're trying on foundations (or any other makeup product), you really need natural lighting because those fluorescent bulbs they use all over the store and their mirrors make you look good inside, but once you step out of the mall, you'll be surprised how clownish you look. Other than that, I like Sephora. I'd buy online if I could, but I like instant gratification and seeing products in person before I buy. read more

Finally, an airbrush makeup system to pick up in the local store. LADIES THIS SYSTEM IS A MUST!!! You will not be disappointed by Temptu. So to be honest I hate the mall in general and hate going into sephoras usually. Most of my experiences have been completely shitty. Ignored. Rude employees. Etc. but I was that asshole who came in 20 mins before closing (I'm sorry I didn't realize it was 8 now btw.) smell some fragrances since ulta has like 3 actual bottles of cologne to test out? (I also hate going into ulta as well for similar reasons.) but adrianna* (girl I'm so sorry if I got your name wrong.) and Brian were absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for and even offered some recs got me some samples ready to smell and weren't pushy to get me out of the store and go home. Pleasant and genuinely helpful. I've already called the store directly, but everyone else should know how great they were as well. I've been to this Sephora a few times and it's VERY hit and miss. I prefer the Roseville Sephora but that one is a far drive from my place so alas, this one it is. First, if you go, go in the middle of the day on a weekday because chances are you'll be helped by an employee faster. The weekends are incredibly crowded and it's mostly high school kids (which is crazy to me because when I was in high school no way could I afford this make-up. Teenagers are ballin' these days apparently). The last time I went I purchased a Kat Von D palette and when I got home and opened the packaging the eye shadow was EVERYWHERE crushed up in the palette (it also made a big mess in my bathroom, ugh). I have been avoiding such stores like Sephora because of my previous experiences at other locations where the employees behave like entitled, pompous beauty queens but this location was surprisingly different. I was greeted upon entering and while I was browsing as each employee on the floor walked around helping other guests they would greet again which made it extremely welcoming, except for this older employee who bumped into me and failed to apologize. I know the aisles are quite small but a small apology would have sufficed. Besides that, every section of the store I visited there was an employee close by to come and greet me and ask if I needed any help. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, I was curious about all the beauty items available that may interest me one day.
