I went in to get a full makeup done for a wedding festivity. There were a couple issues that came with the makeup that I would like to inform you about. The first issue was that I didnt eant a cakey look but ended up with it turning out very cakey. I ended up having to remove my foundation and then reapply it on my own for a more natural look. The second issue that came up was more alarming because I experienced a reaction to the makeup used on my eyes. They are swollen due to this. I have had my makeup done several times at sephora and this is the first time that something like this occurred. Knowing that sephora has every product possible, I expected the product to be very clean. Cleanliness was the issue especially with the eyeliner because both my eyelids became very swollen. I am a regular shopper at sephora so I am very disappointed in my experience. My artist was great however I dont know why I had such a bad allergic reaction. read more

I was very pleased with my visit this past weekend! I have been a Sephora Customer for years and I guess, I just never thought to give a review but I felt compelled to let fellow females know that this Sephora definitely goes above and beyond as far as I am concerned. I bought the wrong color eye brow gel from Charlotte Tilbury and decided to do an in store exchange. Since I ended up buying two eye gels, I returned one and just used it as a credit so I could get the Eyeshadow Palette from Viseart! For some reason, for the life of me, I couldn't recall the Brand Name at that time and I tried searching the entire store to see if I could jog my memory. Apparently, even the store clerk was stumped and she was like "This is gonna bug me for the rest of the day". I know the feeling because I get so annoyed when I can't recall something that is just on the tip of my tongue. Well, she ended up going into my actual account using a store cellphone they all can use and we looked through my recent purchases and since I had already purchased the lipstick palette, it was listed and the second she said Viseart, I was like "That's it". They even brought me to the Palettes and showed me it was the Viseart Petite Pro 2 Palette I had been eyeing for a while now! I appreciate that even though they were extremely busy since at the time, we were in Chicago, they took that extra special effort! And she even gave me a Sample Product! I knew there was a reason I have loved Sephora all these years. I recently also had a thing with my online account. I bought a Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher in Love Glow and somehow it broke on me and crumbled to pieces. I got online and gave my complaint to Sephora online and without hesitation they told me they were sorry and rushed me out another blush with no questions asked-2 day shipping. I am forever so happy and honored to be a Sephora Rouge Member and they have helped me completely change my skin and turn me into the Beautiful Young Lady I am today! Ive been in and out of Sephora before mostly for specifics, kat von d liquid eyeliner, urban decay primer, etc but today I was directed there because Macys was unable to give me a perfume funnel after I purchased a refill bottle of Angel yesterday that didnt have one. The girl at the fragrance counter at Macys: "Whats a funnel?" Well, she asks her superior and that woman tells me theres no way they can get me that but Sephora should be able to help me. I was frustrated but I thought might as well try. Once at Sephora, I approach one of the ladies there and explain my situation, she thought also that was odd that Macys could be of no help and she almost thought they might not have any. But she went to go check for me and got me a few refill funnels. Im amazed they were so profoundly helpful and I believe next time around Ill just buy my fragrance here. Thank you Sephora! read more

This Sephora freaking rocks!!!!! I am totally addicted to this place and love the products, the set up, and the super nice and friendly employees who are helpful and honest if something doesn't look good on you. I also love the fact they give samples of foundation shades to take home because things always look different on outside of the store. Also, their rewards program is very good and I recently got updated to V.I.B. (Very Important Beauty) status after spending a certain amount. Once you reach this status they give u a free makeover!! I'm usually a Mac girl and for the past year have started loving Sephora...until my recent encounter there. I went there to return an item and the manager pretty much accused me of stealing an item out of the set and tried to void my return after it was processed and I was trying on makeup to possibly make another purchase. I was embarrassed in front of the whole store because of the way the manager approached me and handled the situation. I contacted customer service who then said they'd contact me within 2 weeks after I gave them the managers name and they haven't gotten reached out to me either. I'm very disappointed in the customer service I received and I'm only posting this review because of it. My twin requested a gift card for Christmas and I want to gift my sister in law something from there, but ever she nice this encounter a few months ago, I've been reluctant to go back in there. read more

I LOVE this Sephora location. They are my absolute favorite! The employees are the NICEST of any Sephora I've gone to. I also have two girls that do my makeup and I love their work! (Jess and Gavi- you know you ladies are the best!) They honestly can transform you into a princess. I buy all of my makeup here and although it can be a bit pricey, being a member gets you some nice gifts and discounts. I'm super happy with them every time I come in. The best part? They are NEVER rude about giving out samples! My friends and I will go in here together and they are never hesitant to help! This used to be a great Sephora. Not anymore. The staff is rude and unhelpful. There used to be a great team of employees here and it seems most of them are gone. Not surprising with how downhill this place went. I asked to talk to a manager today because of a return problem. Wow. That's all I have to say. She was inappropriate and rude. Snarky and yelled at me. This experience actually made me not want to shop here. Or really any Sephora. Ulta has really upped their rewards and customer service. Really bad service. I went there yesterday looking to buy a particular shade of pressed powder. I was there for about 20 mins and no one even bothered to help me, so I called a staff, I don't know if she's a manager there or what, but she asked for another person to helped me out. So a sales person came, but since we can't find a shade that matches my skin, she suggested me to visit Clinique booth for more options. Then she left without even offering another brand or whatever was available in their store. Since i was already there, i just tried several products all by myself, without any help from the staff. first off, i work in high-end retail cosmetics and these girls are unusually STUCK UP for the industry (suprise). i cant shop without getting harassed (by the way- i understand being asked "can i help you with anything?") but i was in the store ten minutes and got asked by every one of their fifteen associates. The girl at the register was snooty about doing my return and really rude when i asked about the sephora locations inside JC Penny (Do those Sephoras carry all the same things as yours do?), and just left me feeling with a bad taste in my mouth. I do love sephora and the wonderful products they have, but the girls at this location will keep me going to the woodfield location. read more

Had a very bad experience yesterday. They were busy, a sales girl helped me find some makeup she helped me only because a manager asked her to. She seemed really put out. When she was removing makeup she was very rough! She picked out one shade of concealer and applied it and just announced it's way to light and it has no coverage. I knew there were 5 other shades to try, but she didn't offer any other options and normally I would ask but I definitely just wanted to get out of there! read more

I walked in to originally just see if they had a certain product I was looking for. The bad rating is only based on staff. Three girls that were working were just talking to one another laughing as I was waiting bc I needed help finding the product. After maybe 4 minutes one asked with attitude as if I was interrupting her fun, "do you need help?" After I asked about the product she said they don't have it. So I asked if they had a similar product and she said the only one she can think of is nars. So I said ok and was hoping she would show me or help me find it, so I stood there and then she finally asked me if I wanted her to show me where it is and I said yes. And of course with attitude. Afterwards I asked someone else also another lady is she would help me find the shade of the product I was interested in trying out and she had attitude and was so rude as well! I was in shock and just left right away. Worst experience I've ever had and I honestly never rate places or even take the time to make write bad reviews but I was in shock as to how rude very one was. So I was a BIG ULTA fan - I shopped every week or so there. But BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE got really annoying at this point there. So after 4-5 frustrating trips to ULTA (I've tried different stores, I'm very patient person) I've decided - screw it, I'm going to Sephora. This was my 1st visit (I don't count stop-by just to look at it type visits), I was really pleased. Sales people there were helpful, but not to annoying. Cashier was very friendly and told me some useful info. Overall, I was able to find more hi-quality (and, well, hi-priced) items at Sephora, but I'd rather pay more for what I really want than by smth so-so on sale. My fiancé and I came into Sephora looking for a foundation for her. Had a lot of trouble figuring out which color best fits her skin tone. So we're making eye contact with a few workers but no one approaches us. Walk around to find someone to ask as well and all the workers are having conversations with each other. Really bad customer service. We had to go up to someone and interrupt their conversation. Only like 3 girls were actually helping someone out. Disappointed....a chick with red hair told us to wait by the YSL section and someone would be there shortly. Waited 30 minutes and nobody helped us. I come here as a convenience but honestly Most (not everyone) but most of the staff here barely smiles and gives you a very chilly reception. I don't get many smiles whenever I shop here and I don't get any freebies or special treatment unlike the other Sephora locations. You can tell the women and young ladies here are either not being treated with kindness by their manager or they are just not into their work. At the other major Sephora locations there is so much more space so maybe the very tight quarters here are preventing the staff from being able to do a good job and can you blame them? Yes this store is the least cleanly and the tiniest one I have been to and you just feel rushed when you come here so you are not inspired to stay longer than just come here ...get your shopping done and leave. Typically it's fun to be a "girl" and not be in a hurry but at this location it's just not peaceful and people are constantly in each other's way and bumping into one another. The store here is messy, disorganized and the most of the employees are snobs. There I said it and I don't like being mean because I am a huge fan of Sephora but this location has a lot to be desired. The other Sephora stores go above and beyond the normal routine to make sure you have a fun and creative shopping experience but not this particular store. Go in here and get what needs to be done but don't expect to be treated like a favored guest. This is truly the only location where the staff is just not that friendly or welcoming. read more

I've spent thousands of dollars in sephora throughout the years. But this sephora is by far thee worst. Cashier with a really bad attitude. Unapologetic of my problem. Witnessed a few employees bossing other customers around to get in line rather than asking nicely! I have never been treated this way at a sephora! Was told by the manager I could not return a product even though it was on my beauty insider card that I bought it. They said I could only exchange it. Just to put my drivers license in and didn't go through. Which I knew would happen because I've made a few returns in the past without my receipt due to gifts bought for me. After that they told me the other two items that were untouched they could not be return by them because they are from a JC Penny sephora. Manager assured me they won't need my drivers license to look me up in the system in JC Penny. Just to get to the JC Penny and be told what I had already known!!!! I would of spent wayyyyy more money at the Sephora in Old Orchard. But I decided to spend it in the JC Penny where I was treated with respect. I am now a rouge (beauty insider) and refuse to shop at the old orchard Sephora. They need to reevaluate their staff or teach them a thing or two about customer service. read more

I was looking at my camera on my phone and a spiteful employee comes up to me and tells me don't take pictures. She used profanity against me under her breathe. I tried to do a return, I had my receipt but didn't have the card that I used to make the purchase. Well, they wouldn't give me the credit UNLESS I physically have the card. They offered me a store credit, which is NOT what I wanted! They told me to come back with the card if I want the credit back on the card, because it's the only way. Are you kidding me?! It's the freakin' 21st century!!! Keep up with technology! Even Target can give credit back on the same card even if you don't physically have it on you!!! Besides, you already took the money out of my account, I have the receipt so why can't I get cash back?! RIDICULOUS! They wouldn't even put it on another credit card of mine. BUT, what stood out to me AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY, is how b!tchy the three women I had the unfortunate luck of dealing with! I WILL NEVER COME TO THIS STORE AGAIN! She literally was laughing and smiling with every coworker, but when another employee in skincare told her I needed help choosing a foundation she was visibly annoyed. She had me remove my makeup and then told me there was cotton on my face and I needed to remove it. Kind of irritating because how hard was it for her to brush it off me face? Every other time I've had makeup applied, they remove it, remove any cotton or whatever and apply the makeup and are extremely friendly. This one didn't smile once, and gave one word answers when I had a question. I'm not sure why this chick acted like she was doing me a favor. This is the worst Sephora I have ever been -- they are rude, obnoxious and beyond the pale. Just waiting to see how many people sue them. Google or you tube this store and see all problems. The worst? Being accused of taking their product when you choose to use your own mascara that they do not even use. And to watch them lie is amazing. I've been to many Sephora's stores, but the customer service at this particular location was wonderful. The sales people were super friendly and helpful, they listened to what exactly I was asking for and then found me the products that they thought I would like. I.E. I was looking for some lip stain lip sticks, and when I went to other stores they would just brush me off or just grab the most expensive lip gloss to sell me. Here the girl who helped me took her time, and I loved the cosmetics she helped pick out with me. Great Service, I will definitely come back to this location again =) read more

If you are thinking of getting your make-up done at Sephora in Old Orchard, I HIGHLY recommend Nina. I went in because I had an occasion that evening and felt like getting my makeup done. It was the first Nina had helped me, and she was great! I was so impressed, I went back the next weekend just because I wanted her to do it again. She is easy to talk to, you can tell her exactly your style and she will make you look good and feel comfortable. She is a true make up artist and can help you with a make-overm special occaion or even just for fun. I hope you have the same experience I did, she's great. read more

This is a good Sephora. For the most part, I always find what I am looking for. The workers are helpful and don't make me feel uncomfortable. However, I think this Sephora is over staffed. Though this Sephora location is really cramped, the people working there are REALLY helpful and not the kind of up your ass helpful that you want to smack away from you but I actually enjoyed interacting with them there. You can find high end makeup brands at Sephora if you've never been there. I'm poor so I don't shop here very often and I also prefer more matte makeup like MAC which Sephora doesn't carry. However, they do carry a FANTASTIC array of brushes. I was torn between their Sephora brushes and the Sephora exclusive Kat Von D ones. I ended up going Sephora (which were a brush less and cheaper) and have been VERY happy with my purchase. Their staff LOVES makeup and is willing to try some out on you. They have a Sephora club card kind of thing where you can collect points for purchases in store which is nice but the draw back to shopping in store like Is aid is the narrow aisles get REALLY cramped especially when you're there on a weekend :( Overall it's a great place to check out new quality colors. read more
