Nina is the BEST! Walked in one day after work after realizing I was a bright red mess and needed some new makeup. The place was packed and I had no clue where to begin. Despite the fact that the store was jam packed, Nina really took her time with me, sat me down and we tried out a bunch of different products. She listened to exactly what I needed, didn't try and push anything on me and always gave her honest opinion (be it good or bad) about a product. $90 later and I left with a bag full of new goodies. Very disappointed with the customer service we received at this location. Sales associates are very snobby and talk down to you. My husband and I came in looking for men skin care products, you know like kiehls or jack black and instead he felt man-shamed because the store simply didn't carry them. I love Sephora...I'm a VIB and have been for awhile. Lived in Geneva and loved the ladies there....always so very helpful. Just moved and visited the Old Orchard store last week to grab some stuff. I was told by one of the employees that I was not wearing my mask properly. She said I needed to pull it down more. This was my first experience at any venue being instructed on HOW to wear the mask. I recently had my makeup done at Sephora for a wedding this last Saturday! Nayaab, my makeup artist- she was so sweet and made for such a nice experience! She gave me a bronze glowing goddess look that I had wanted and did such an amazing job! I got so many compliments at the wedding! Everything she picked for my makeup was carefully chosen and looked so natural and I wish I could have taken every last product home! It all came together beautifully. I love this place! Anthony yesterday did my makeover and he did an awesome job! He was meticulous and didn't just slap on some stuff like my other recent me horrible experiences. Anthony matched my skinned without using that foundation math ER which I don't think matches your skin correctly. A true makeup artist won't resort to using that thing. He also contoured my face to perfection. I was really pleased. My pictures came out nice. I ordered a YSL lipstick color on Sephora.com (I should have known better...) and it was not the right shade for me. I went in to the store and was lucky enough to be helped by Mantza. She was very patient picked out not only the right shades but the lipsticks were much more hydrating than the MAC one I had been wearing. She then introduced me to some awesome skincare products for people with eczema and oily skin. I'm very happy with the service and I ended up buying two lipsticks and one of the skincare products. read more

I love Sephora, but the workers here are gossipy and judgey. Literally heard them gossiping about people shopping. I felt like they were judging me for trying a lot of makeup on, but I prefer to try stuff on before I buy as I am picky. There was one really friendly salesperson there, but the rest are cliquey high school seeming. I never have this problem at other makeup stores like Ulta. read more

Recently went in to look for eye primer and found the rep very helpful. She took time to understand the look I was going for, look at the shapes of my eyes and recommend a couple of really easy things that made my eye totally POP! I was in a wedding that yesturday. My cousin recommeneded i make an appointment somewhere because my makeup skills are not strong enough to pull off special event make-up. I went to Sephora in Skokie and was helped by Nayaal. She surpassed my expectations. I was nervous because I have a darker skin complexion. Foundation and moisturizer is always a challenge for me to match but she zipped around the store and got the products that made me look great. I got so many compliments at the wedding. I realize this is a busy location, but the store associates here are never willing to help or give suggestions. I'm a "Sephora VIB", so I spend a good amount of money here every year. It's quite annoying to always feel rushed and like a bother when I ask an associate for assistance or for a suggestion. I'm always passed around to different associates and not once has an associate ever offered to let me apply/try out a new product. read more

Every time the girls help me with makeup they're really short, act as if I'm bothering them and barely give me more than two minutes of their time. Of all the Sephora branches in the state, this one is my favorite even if their location is quite far from our place. Why would I even bother to go here if there are also other Sephoras just nearby? Well, aside from how seriously neat their sense of organization is inside the store, the crew are awesome people! They know how to treat their customers right, whether they leave with or without purchase. They show importance to every single person who comes in and out of the store regardless of what store loyalty card they possess or having none at all; likewise, they provide a respectful attention both to the customers who buy an item/items with samples and to those who are just asking for samples to try out from any/all of the three "worlds" alone. A few branches and even some retail stores don't have staffs who could truly exude these exemplary traits if you don't look like or say straight to them that you really intend to buy something. Some could pick up but it would just be done in mediocrity, it doesn't feel as genuine as how it goes at this branch. Perfumes are what I purchase during most of my visits here, followed by skin care and makeup. There would be a time when a staff doesn't have an incredible knowledge in the perfume world, but everyone trying their best here to be of great service is what really matters. They are patient with all of your questions, and would send another associate to serve you right away for specific needs if the others are busy. The prices here are apparently more expensive than somewhere else, but the quality of both the products and service that you get from every visit here is all worth it. Plus, it's still a convenient location because hey, it's in Old Orchard. That means more fun after already having an initial high feeling from checking out this fantastic branch. read more

This location sucks at customer service. I was there last night with some friends and we stopped in to take a look around. There was this short, African-American woman who followed us around to try on some make-up. We were like alright, but it turned out to be a disaster. I ended up with a different eye color on each eye. And when I pointed it out to the woman, she did not seem to like that. And she just plainly refused to fix it and just walked away. I've pretty much stopped shopping at Sephora in person because Sephora.com offers way more in coupons,deals and perks. My beloved Chanel foundation was discontinued recently so I have been on a foundation buying binge lately trying to find a replacement. I ordered some Nars foundation online, when it arrived I opened the box and immediately knew that I chose the wrong color. Thankfully Sephora has a great return policy and I could return it in person. Once I got to the Old Orchard location a really nice sales associate helped me choose the right color and the right type of foundation I was looking for. I ended up going with the Laura Mercier creme silk foundation. I had no idea this location was now carrying LM and was happy to see it and give it a try, many of my friends are wearing it and swear by the entire line. The sales girl asked me why I only like to shop Sephora online and not in store, I told her about all the great deals they are constantly giving away and mentioned a "for instance, right now is the friends and family 20% coupon" after a "thanks for all your help, I am going to check out some other things I need to purchase" she and I both parted. Do you know, about 5 mins later the Store Mgr came up to me and said that she would honor the 20% off friends and family discount that was being offered to the Beauty Insiders (or what I call the Sephora Whora's) online in the store. All I did was happen to mention it, I thought it was great that they took the extra step to honor it in store. I bought more because they did that. Make-Up is so expensive, it's nice to feel like you are getting a little perk with your purchase now and then. Also, are you aware (I wasn't until tonight) that Sephora will sample out ANYTHING you want to try? Anything. You want to try 16 different brands of foundations at home? They will do it. I never knew this until tonight but I think it's a pretty great service. read more

I've been a Sephora addict ever since I was a young teenager. I love the well lit aisles filled with rows and rows of colors and makeup brushes and perfumes. It's a girl's heaven! That being said, no one is surprised that I am a frequent shopper with a shiny Sephora VIB card. I've now been to this specific Sephora twice and can say both times have been pretty disappointing. -The store itself is very small, and very busy. -Items are organized, however, poorly stocked. -Makeup removal stations are also sparse. -They have a nice fragrance section in this store. -Terrible staff One of the things I have come to really love about Sephora is their knowledgable and helpful staff. Whenever I have gone into a Sephora in my hometown, someone always stops and asks if I need help, offers to help find x product in a shade appropriate for me or a product from a different line that is better for what I need. NOT this Sephora. The store is overrun with staff that are busy gossiping and playing with each other. When asking for help to find a product, I got a very simple, oh just do this and walked away. Not exactly the service I'm accustomed. I can't remember the last time I've left a Sephora without buying ANYTHING, however, both times I've visited this location, I've left empty-handed, dissatisfied with my experience. Sephora itself will always be my go-to makeup store, with their great selection of hypoallergenic products (including Sephora brand!), great nailpolishes, and wonderful accept anything return policy. His knowledge about cologne is amazing and just by describing in a couple words what you are looking for he is able to pick exactly what you want. So disappointed at this Sephora location. Went on a Thursday around 4pm since I'm back from college and was looking for the Anastasia Glow Kit, the workers were so rude and unenthusiastic. Let me first start out with what I love about Sephora at this specific location. Perfume guy... Incredibly kind and helpful. The actual store has everything I need. I like that they give samples of foundations and perfumes . OK now let me tell you why I only gave two stars. I can probably count three people I came across that did not have a crappy attitude or a resting b**** face. I specifically worked with an Asian girl with black and blue hair. I don't remember her name nor do I care. My daughter and I went in looking for foundation amongst other things. When I asked this associate for help and added a few questions, She gave a face like she was super annoyed. She was not helpful she was actually a joke. Her customer service skills are a joke! Ive been in and out of Sephora before mostly for specifics, kat von d liquid eyeliner, urban decay primer, etc but today I was directed there because Macys was unable to give me a perfume funnel after I purchased a refill bottle of Angel yesterday that didnt have one. The girl at the fragrance counter at Macys: "Whats a funnel?" Well, she asks her superior and that woman tells me theres no way they can get me that but Sephora should be able to help me. I was frustrated but I thought might as well try. Once at Sephora, I approach one of the ladies there and explain my situation, she thought also that was odd that Macys could be of no help and she almost thought they might not have any. But she went to go check for me and got me a few refill funnels. Im amazed they were so profoundly helpful and I believe next time around Ill just buy my fragrance here. Thank you Sephora! read more
