Ulta Beauty is seriously my happiest place on earth. The second you walk in, it feels like beauty heaven. They have absolutely everything you could possibly imagine to look and feel fabulous -- from luxury fragrances like my personal favorite, Chanel Chance, to endless haircare, skincare, makeup, and beauty products. This location even has a salon inside, which makes the whole experience feel extra glamorous and exciting. The beauty advisors (I think that's what they're called!) are always so friendly, welcoming, and helpful every single visit. A few years back, I was actually a Beauty Advisor for Lancôme myself, so I really appreciate great customer service and knowledgeable staff when I see it. Ulta is one of those places where you go in for one thing and end up happily wandering around for an hour discovering new favorites. First time here, came to pick up some fun nail polish and a few other cosmetic items. Selection of OPI polish is huge so I saw a sales associate and asked for help. I only wanted a polish, no gels, no quick drying solutions however, the first sales associate told me I should buy 'the set'. She said it doesn't cost much and it might be what I'm looking for . When I explained I had no need for ' the set ' she walked away. Alrighty then. I then proceeded to look at the makeup when along came the nicest, patient , knowledgeable salesperson named Sarah. What a love! So kind, so informative with excellent listening skills. Ulta, all of your associates could learn from this lady. And she know her stuff, too. This location is kept well maintained and clean. There is always plenty of parking. I always get my pickup orders ready on time. I ordered a gift for my mom today on the app, and the order was ready for pick up in less than 2 hours! Like all locations, you can get text and/or email notifications when your order is ready for pickup. I haven't tried their curbside pickup service yet. Customer service has varied with each visit in my view. However, my last two visits went well, and the employees were very cordial. Definitely give this Ulta a try if you haven't already. read more

Jennifer at this Ulta (205 N Moorpark rd) is THE Ulta beauty guru. She has been an incredible help to me. Everything from skin care, acne & blemish control, skin prep, offering information about makeup products, shade matching, & even teaching me about warm neutral cool tones. It's obvious she has so much genuine knowledge within the beauty industry = she really cares & wants to help. I really appreciate that as someone who has dealt with recently difficult skin BEFORE meeting her. After her product recommendations my skin has been AMAZING. With every product she recommends she then explains how to apply products correctly, what steps products go in order etc. She also has really helped me learn about oily vs dry skin & of course she went above &beyond to find me the best products for my personal needs. This Ulta is in the Janss Marketplace, next to petco off Moorpark Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA Upon entering I was greeted , this store is big, super clean, highly organized, very attention to details . They have Christmas selections up in the front when you enter. I love the fact they have so many varieties of beauty supplies such as : makeups, serums, perfumes, hairspray, hairdryers , hand sanitizer scented sprays, lotions, nail things. They have a ton of inventory! There so many staff here help out . I think their prices are great, it might seem a bit expensive for someone people but I believe their quality of makeup and stuff here are excellent!! I loved the fact the staff let people actually look what they needed but if someone needed help there were there on the spot . Today I need an upgrade from my old makeups . I was confused on how many makeups are out there . So it was Kevin V. He rushed to my rescue, he asked me if I needed help. I told him I was looking revlon but then he ask me if further details what was I looking for . I told him I needed an upgrade of makeup cause I was using a very old one .. he asked me if I'm willing try to anything . I said Yes!!! So he sat me down asked me if my skin is oily or dry. I said dry then he put on a B- hydra intensive hydration serum . I really loved it it wasn't too thick and messy it was just right. I could really tell how Kevin has a lot of experience, he kept saying this "see this my friend" I thought that was so sweet of him calling me that! So thank you! Then he had Louie come over to help me with the foundation. He put on Tinted live : hueguard tint spf 50 That color was an exact match! Then they showed me a lip gloss. Kevin V. & Louie are both sweet, kind, caring, super down to earth , very sincere, extremely genuine !! Within a couple of hours, I received a text message saying my order is ready for pick up. (If you opt in for text msgs)... You can respond to the text by clicking on the provided link. What's nice is, it gives you the store hours & the location of which Ulta you are picking up at. You can respond to it by clicking on "I'm on the way" or "I'm here" & it allows for easier pick up. I parked, clicked on "I'm here" & walked in the store. I didn't have to wait in line, just went to the pick up counter. Told them I have an order. It was ready & handed to me. I mentioned, "that was easy" & she said they get notified when I checked in on the link. This worked out perfect, since I was a tad in a hurry & omw to work. I stopped by today (4/17 at 4pm) to pick up a few items as I had gift card to use. There was a woman behind the register wearing a purple shirt with her arms crossed. I greeted her and took the items out of my shopping bag. She didn't greet me back... no smile, no hi, nothing. I was met with a really mean/ pissed off look. With her arms still crossed she simply asked if I had a phone number, I said yes. After asking her about the gift card she crossed her arms again, looked away, and started tapping her foot while I put the pin into the machine. I'm not sure if she was upset, but she was very short with me. I looked at her bewildered and said "ok?". She did a scoff almost laugh noise at me and I decided not to interact with her any further. I understand being tired or upset and not wanting to greet someone back. But crossing your arms, giving people nasty looks, and scoffing at them is flat out disrespect. Mojdeh is the absolute best! Mojdeh has been doing my hair for about 5 years and every single time I leave very happy - not only for the amazing cut and dry but the conversations as well. She is a wonderful person and very talented. Last week I called her up last minute to help fix my daughters hair that was poorly cut at another salon. Not only did Mojdeh stay late to work on my daughter's hair but she made a miracle happen. My daughter came in crying and left elated, she couldn't believe how amazing her hair looked. So sad My partner and I drove 30 minutes to have lunch and an Ulta date and we were so disappointed by this store. My partner is just starting to experiment with makeup and the staff and physical environment did not provide a safe space for him to learn and explore. I see other reviews have already touched on the disorganization of the physical space, so what I can add is that the testers of most products we wanted to try were unavailable or extremely old (labels worn and products dry). Upon entering, we asked where the line of products we were interested in were and were escorted to them. The #1 product we were interested in did not have a tester so I notified the staff person, but they didn't seem happy to make a new tester for us. The #2 product we were interested in had a tester, but had such little product that I had to scrape the bottom of the tube. It was a pH color-changing product that didn't change color even after 10 minutes. I assume it's because the product was very old, but we didn't feel comfortable asking for another new tester. I'm confused reflecting on the customer service we received during the rest of our visit because staff are somewhat aggressive approaching you to offer help, but then are overtly unhappy, condescending, and rude to actually provide service. We stuck around to try other products since everything is still new to my partner in the makeup world. However, we regret it. My partner is a bit traumatized by how we were treated. read more

I was desperate for a cut and some accent highlights, but did not want to have to wait too long for an appointment at my normal salon. Ulta was suggested to me as an option, and as a first time client, I had my reservations. I've never had a haircut or service in an Ulta before. Imagine my surprise when it was one of my favorite haircuts I've had in a few years. Mojdeh also takes her time and didn't make me feel rushed, even styling my hair after the blowout which she did not have to do. It was one of her first days back after some time off and she had to deal with some scheduling issues but still managed to get my hair done and even while she was rushing around and multitasking it never felt like she was ignoring me or like my hair was suffering. 100% recommend her. This might not be for the location as a whole. But the manager here are extremely rude to their employees, One manager, i think her name is jasmine, she was short with the worst attitude. Was extremely rude and talked down on the poor cashier at the register! She also saw that there was a big line forming and didn't do anything but stand behind and text on her phone. Im not the type to complain, but this really bothered me, she also seemed bothered when her employee asked for help! This is why this ulta is always training new employees! Located in the former Rite Aid spot, it's front and center near Toys 'R Us. From upper end brands like MAC and Clinique to drug store staples, they have a wide variety of options and price points. Wowwww one of the worst experiences at ulta and that's saying a lot. My daughter was trying a nail polish on her thumb and some worker with glasses and a severe pulled back bun came and snatched the polish out of her hand. She yelled, "No no no. We can't put the polish on our nails because I have to destroy this polish now!" I mean yelled. At a 12 year old. Really?! Jeeeeeeeeezus. Associates have ZERO chill about setting up an Ultamate account, to the extent that they misled me about being able to make returns with a receipt. I declined at least three times to open an account. They told me that it made returns easier, and I responded that I have no issue ever making a return because I kept my receipts. And also, no thanks, still don't want the account. When the woman checking me out finally let it rest, her colleague interjected that I couldn't make *any* returns without an account, even if I have my receipt. Then, the woman checking me out changed her approach and said, "Yeah, it's a new store policy to prevent fraud." The back of the receipt states otherwise. You can make returns with the original receipt. It wouldn't have irked me so much if they would have just left me alone about the flippin' account! Please take "I'm good, no thank you," the first time someone says it. Familiarize yourself with store policy-- better yet, don't mislead customers who just don't care about rewards and don't want to give out their phone numbers. She not only colored & cut my long hair perfectly... but after the blow-dry, she also added loose curls/waves (to come up with the perfect style for a very special event I am attending soon)! ALMA has that "Magic Touch" - I received compliments from Everyone who saw me after my appointment with ALMA (and a zillion "Likes" on Facebook too)! All of the Stylists at this ULTA location are very nice; I feel welcome and comfortable whenever I visit! However, I will be going back to ALMA on a regular basis: she really Listened to my description of how I wanted my hair to look and feel - and she created Exactly the "look" I was hoping for! This company as a whole is a joke. The fact that you have to be a member to get points and get your full price on a return?!?!? What a joke! This policy makes you not want to come here and I am sure they loose many potential customers because of it. It's a huge turn off! Sephora has far better selection and no dumb policies.
