Buyer Beware, I went there for the first time. I had an appointment for a manicure and pedicure, buffed and shined, and gel removal from my toe nails. I arrived 10 min. early and didn't have to wait long. The salon's decor, the chairs, and the music were pleasant. The guy clipped my toe nails and I asked him to file them across to avoid any more ingrown toe nails. He acted irritated, got up, and walked away. He walked out, came back in, and worked on someone else. I spoke to the manager about what I wanted. A woman gave me a pedicure and manicure. She used scissors to cut my calluses. Big no no. When she gave me a manicure, she clipped my finger nails shorter than I wanted. The water for soaking my nails was too hot. She added some cool water. Still too hot. I told her. She told me to soak the tips of my fingers. I had to remind her to soak my other hand. She made no other changes to the water temperature. My husband was pleased with his pedicure. His attendant was friendly and asked about the temperature of the water. Between my spa pedicure, toe gel removal, buffed and shined for fingers and toes, and my husband's spa pedicure plus paying by credit card, it was $98. That didn't count the tip. When I offered my attendant a tip, she pointed to her cart and said "Put it there." It sounded like an order. The manager offered no apology and no discount for the first employee's walking away from the job. The woman who gave me the manicure and pedicure said she hadn't eaten lunch at all yesterday and hadn't eaten lunch yet that day. It was already 2 pm. Emplothers are required by law to give their staff two 10 minute breaks in an 8 hour period. She said she was shaking the day before because she hadn't eaten the day before "because they were so busy. There was no time." To top it off, I had an ingrown toe nail that night. I read reviews of several nail salon't before making the appointment. Next time I'll ask my podiatrist to cut my toe nails. read more

Omg last minute place on yelp and I'm so happy I came here. I was greeted by a lovely women how new it was I who called in. She directed me to the restroom first due to nature calling lol. Aft wards I was greeted by Ray who was my nail technician. Temper was checked and I signed in. Ray knows how to treat hands and nails. I was given water and had a nice polite talk about kids. Awful I went in for a full of set of nails, and a pedicure. The lady who did my pedicure was so painful, I repeatedly told her to stop, and that she was too rough and hurt me. The water was too hot, she cut my skin and made me bleed on my toes. Her massage was rough. She had dry skin, and her appearance was awful. The man who did my bails wasn't any better. He kept trying to convince me to do the pink background with the white tips, I told him I didn't want it. He was so pushy, he made me so uncomfortable. I will never go back there. I am honestly so disappointed in this place and the quality of service. I have been coming here a few years and after today I am done. lately I have been having trouble when I go in for a fill or full set. This last time I went for a fill the guy made my nails super thin and the shape was odd. not less than two days I had three nails break off and the jell color was coming off my nails! Not the worst manicure I've ever received but wouldn't be my first choice to return here for my next manicure. I called for a last minute appointment an hour before they closed and they were able to take me. They have a lot of different color options for gel but not so much regular nail polish. At a quick glance my nails seemed fine, but after further inspection my nails, they're cut and shaped unevenly. It didn't seem like my nail tech knew what squoval (or as I explained to him, flatter on the top and rounder on the edges) was. There are a few knicks and bumps under the layer of polish that I can feel. Also the nail tech was really rough squeezing and twisting my hands while applying the polish. For gel nails at the price of $27, I'd only come back if I was in the area and really needed my nails done. read more

Let me start by saying I very rarely give out bad reviews, I'm not Karen asking for a manager. The level of service I received yesterday was ridiculous. My daughter and I stopped in for Mani/pedis. She wanted marble nails for hands and white for toes. I wanted full acrylic in matte and matching matte toes. The young girl with glasses who did my daughters Mani/pedis was great...although I didn't understand why hers required gel as she's under 10 but whatever, she enjoyed it. My experience however was awful. The lady doing my pedicure was rude, made the water way too hot and huffed after I pulled my feet out and asked for a little cold water, and literally jerked my legs in and out the entire time. She then painted my toes white on one foot before I noticed, I repeated I wanted them the same color and matte like my nails. She then painted them without the matte! Had to ask/say matte for the 5th time! Then while getting my nails done, the guy did an ok job but it did one coat of color not two, which doesn't match my toes. They are thick and uneven in color. Not to mention being nicked several times with the drill. I've never been told relax so much in my life...calm down bud, I've been getting this done for years. And you would have thought he was twisting my arm for me to say uncle when he did the underside. my nails are filed flat on one side and sharp angled on the other, see below. Then one of my friends walked in, I said hi and she asked how I was doing and before I could respond we didn't even get into conversation past that before the lady told her to stop talking, to go sit down and then she could talk to her friend! I will never return. I ignored the other recent reviews and regret it. I have never felt this badly treated in a nail salon. I get people have bad days and always chalk it up to that...but all of this? I've heard good things from friends who go there and when they heard and saw my nails, they were appalled. If you want great nails for awesome pricing, go to Tranie nails off University. Their customer service is stellar and they will make sure you're happy before you leave. And they actually are gentle ans get to know you. *Update: one of my daughters gel nails literally fell off! She's not particularly rough and is really girly. I wish I had read the reviews before going here. I upgraded my pedicure, which is fine, but then she did a callus removal without communicating that it was an extra $5 on top. Y'all. I paid $48 for a pedicure with tip! Then they didn't use a fast drying top coat (probably something cheaper), and an hour later, I touched my big toe and it smeared somehow. If I'm paying $48, you can spring for seche vite. Biggest waste of money ever. I had to redo my polish myself. read more

No matter where I live in San Diego I will always come back here ! Especially for ray or Andy. They can do crazy designs I ask for and do it so well. I had a really subpar experience here. I went for a pedicure. For starters, The woman seemed annoyed that I only wanted a basic pedicure. Second, I'm not sure what the woman was doing to my cuticle but she buffed it so hard it actually hurt. She left me in the chair for my toes to dry and never returned. I had to lean out of the chair and attempt to get my shoes on without messing the paint up with no assistance. When I got home I noticed that my toes had paint all over them. I wouldn't return here. Don't go on a Saturday! Don't let Andy do your nails! My gel nails were no bueno. Came home with sharp edges that were getting caught on everything. Had some nails that were lumpy. On top of it, he was burning the hell out of my finger nails. And when I pulled my hand away, Andy's response was "just relax". Like wth....how does one relax when you're drilling down my skin!!! Seriously dude! Stay clear from this guy. Also added last minute pedicure (bad idea), which sucked. I LOVE this place. I've been coming here since the day they opened! Whether I make an appointment or not, I usually can get in within a decent time. All the women are super friendly & helpful. I've had many, many pedicures and full sets done here throughout the years. I generally walk in so I don't have a set technician I see, but I do love it when I get Dawn. More recently, Daisy has also become a favorite... she's very friendly, quick and does an overall great job! I definitely recommend this place to my friends whenever I'm asked where to go! This is our first time here for our manis, since we were in La Mesa. I heard Daisy is really good and I'm surprised I got her for my first time here. My nails are baby pink coffin shaped! However, i was so disappointed!!! Ray did my manicure and Kevin did my pedicure. Both skipped parts of the process. I felt very very rushed. I had to keep telling them what to do. It was quite warm outside and I appreciate they are trying to work which is why I stopped by. However, if you choose to open and expect to get business you should provide the service the customer is paying for and pay attention to what you are doing. I paid for gel and he was using regular polish!! This definitely was not worth the money I spent! Anyway. I will never comeback here. So a couple days ago I went to a salon in Santee since I was there shopping. Horrid service, nails, experience! After I had time to get over it (oh and time to get my nails redone) I found this place on yelp. They were open and had great reviews. I called and they fit me right in. I explained what I was looking for my nails to look like and that I am VERY picky. I was immediately told it wasn't a problem and they will not be happy if I am not happy. I sat down with Emily and described the look I wanted and the color to be my skin tone (or as close as possible).....result: EXACTLY what I wanted! The color I had picked out wasn't right and she caught it first thing and found my ideal color (#21 shellac)! Not only did she find the color she nailed it all (pardon the pun!)!!! The service was wonderful and I was made to feel welcome and like they were there just for me! Even though they were busy I felt like número uno (which is rare nowadays). She was fast, professional, and really seemed to care how my nails looked. All I can say is if you are looking for a nail salon this is it! I will be back for all my nail needs! One of the better nail salons I've been to. Showed up about an hour before they closed (closed 7:30 pm) and they were able to get my wife and I in for mani-pedis. Our pedicures were great. We got the pedicure that came with exfoliation, callus removal and a parrafin wax treatment. Our feet and lower legs felt super smooth right after. Like dolphin smooth. The manicurists did a good job cleaning up our cuticles. Some spots I've been to, nick a little bit of skin every now and then but not here. My only issue was that my gel manicure wasn't done all the way to the cuticle so you could see a sliver of nail still showing but I'm guessing that's fairly common because of the polish? Nearly every place I've been to for gel manicures leave a little sliver of nail showing. Maybe it has to do with the curing of the polish? Idk. Regardless everything else was pretty good. The establishment looked clean. The nail technicians were sweet, attentive, and made light conversation (Lana? and Ray). Each manicure and pedicure was price-ranged 20-30 bucks. I used to live around the corner from this place which is how I found it. I live 20 minutes away now and still drive here to get waxed. I've tried multiple waxing places including European wax centers and I ALWAYS break out for days after waxing. Serenity Nail & Spa is the only place I've found where I don't break out after a wax. Not to mention that I love the way they shape my eyebrows. There are a couple different girls who do the waxing and they all do a great job. As far as the nails they do a good job as well. I've had multiple different girls and they all do a great job. I only have ever had 1 bad experience and I don't think that person works there anymore. The manager was quick to fix the issue as well. I don't drive here just for the nails but if it's time for a wax and also time for nails then I do them here. I always get the gel manicure and a regular pedicure. The pricing is reasonable. Third and last time to this place. They are doing a truly fine job with COVID compliance effort. This should be the headline. However, on my third and last time to this place (1) truly terribly manicure and pedicure. I left with my own emory board to make my nails look even and not "freshly chopped". Same with my pedicure. No filing, no removal of nails and perhaps the "weakest" person ever (2) pricing is crazy confusing (by design) and way too high.
