Honestly one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've had getting my nails done. The owner is such a sweetheart and full of life, and had I encountered her in the wild I'm sure it would have been pleasant. But she kept stopping service to talk, and got really personal. Like, she talked about God almost the whole time and tried to give me unsolicited diet advice. And ragged on me for not driving an electric car even though she doesn't either?? It was the opposite of relaxing. And she cut my toenails waaaaaaay too short-- just my sock on my big toe is irritating to the point of pain. She also has her dogs in the salon, which is fine if you're a dog person, but a heads up seems like an obvious curtesy. Very glad I used a groupon because I would have been so pissed to pay full price for such a stressful experience. read more

So I went Serenity 2 days ago 8/13. And over the phone they were SUPER polite and even in the salon. The Professionalism was unremarkable I definitely loved the way I was treated. Janan (the owner) did a great job creating a spa like environment. My only concerns/ complaints are the PRICES! - I went for a polish change on my toes and a simple natural manicure (no shellac/ acrylic) - POLISH CHANGE = $15 - MANICURE = $25 When I arrived Janan was really trying to push for the Vinyl Lux Brand which I agreed to initially ( but ended up not liking the color) by the way that brand cost a extra $5 to use along with Opi and other brands. While doing my toes she asked if I wanted them filed I said yes.. that was a extra $5. And to get the Vinyl Lux top coat "fast dry" an extra $5. So at this point your talking about a polish change that is now $30 and my feet have not touched water. I ended up getting regular polish and regular top coat ( feet still look great). So let's get to my manicure. The manicure was nice no massage or lotion.. but I decided to get that Vinyl Lux top coat to fast dry and it worked out okay...initially It's day 2, I got my nails done 8/13 and my nails are chipped. Also Janan prides herself on her salon being very different and talks down about Asian owned salons. She also went on and on about how her business isn't doing well since the pandemic. I've never been to this place prior to 8/13 but my first thought is she's trying to up charge everything because her business is hurting from the pandemic or she has no customers. read more

So I went to try this place out, but won't be going back. I was charged $90 dollars for basically toe nail polish she did buff my feet but there was no massage which I was really looking forward to.. I was going to get manicure too but after taking so long I decided to skip the nail polish on my hands. She just file/shaped my nails. No massage. Owner is nice, but over all it expensive! For average service. She took two walk in clients before me which was rude but I pretend to not care and then after I realized how much it was I knew I wouldn't come back. Janan did my pedicure for my first visit to Serenity Nails and Spa and made me feel like I was among long time friends from the second that I walked through the door. She worked magic on making my feet feel like they were brand new with my skin from the knees down feeling as soft as a newborn baby's. She fixed and shaped my nails and topped it all off with a polish job as unique as the high level of professionalism that her spa provides. I should have known there was going to be a problem when customers were not keeping their appointments and regularly not returning. This woman is in the wrong profession and perhaps custodial work would suit her skill level and character well. I don't know how more people aren't commenting on this, but this is one of the most frightening places I have ever encountered, and I was just there to get my eye brows waxed. I chose Serenity because it was close to my next destination, and when I spoke to the woman on the phone, she was really friendly, but that is where my positive experience ended. While I was waiting to get my brows waxed, there was Christian music blasting overhead. I could head the owner talking to her client about being saved and being able to live forever in paradise. I didn't expect it to continue, but it did. She sat me in a chair as I watched her push her faith on a customer, handing her brochers, and spoke of the coming apocolypse. The lady wasn't even sure if her appointment was over or not. The other owner and her customer seemed unphased and said that they listened to Gods word and acted like they were in La-La-Land. The owner told the customer that the service was free, and the customer was very uncomfortable with this, but the owner insisted that "everything is free where she's going. everything is free in paradise," and rudely asked "Have you never had someone give you something?" The customer was super uncomfortable and left. The owner then went back to working on my eyebrows and started telling me that we are all slaves and that Jahovah (this was my "Ah-ha!" moment) can free us. She said "Do you want to be free of being a slave? We are slaves here. Do you want to be free from wearing a mask? Where I'm going you wont have to wear a mask." I said nothing as she spoke to me. I got up to pay as soon as she was done and as I handed her my card she said "How does freedom sound to you?" I politely said "I am wholeheartedly not interested and I would like to pay." She told me that it was free today. I am telling you, I have never ran out of a salon so fast. Pushing "religious" beliefs in a business is not okay, especially the way that this woman was going about it. I felt uncomfortable, unsafe, and very disturbed being in this salon and I HIGHLY advise that you do not go to this salon if you aren't Jahovah's witness or if you don't want to hear about it literally the entire time you are there. Serenity Nails and Spa is far from a serene salon. The owner, Janan, number one priority is money. If you don't cancel within 48 hours you must pay for the appointment. I've witnessed her on the phone demanding payment from a client. Emergencies do happen, clients do get sick. You have to come every two weeks or she charges you more. The salon does not have a price list which makes it easy to up the price on services and charge for extras. When her "intern" was done with an acrylic fill Janan was whispering to her very loudly, "How much are you going to charge her?" right in front of the client. It was so embarrassing and unprofessional. When the client left Janan scolded her intern for about 5 minutes that she didn't charge her enough. My understanding was if you have an intern they are not supposed to charge the full amount because they are still learning. Janan does beautiful work if you can handle her constantly being late - I'm talking 30 - 45 minutes behind, stopping to take personal phone calls, playing with her dog, talking to her mom, eating popcorn, smoking a cigarette. The worst thing any professional can do is bring their problems to the workplace. There was one appointment she was giving me a manicure and screaming at her lawyer on the phone. She would constantly stop my manicure, get up and walk around yelling on the phone. I don't need to hear about your problems. If she respected her clients then she would respect their time. The simple solution for being so behind is not taking so many clients a day but she wants that money. I wasn't going to write a review but the nail salon that I'm going to is pure heaven. My nail tech is always on time and waiting for me. It took her only 40 minutes to do a full set of acrylics and I wear my nails very long. The nail art is incredible but I was never able to get that with Janan because she was always behind. Janan talks about how great glass acrylic is but it was too thick. When my nail tech soaked off my nails from Janan she was shocked at how bad my nail beds were. Janan is her own worst enemy because she is full of herself and loves to talk about how great she is. She's bossy and most clients don't care to hear her opinion. I'm so sick of hearing her say I'm only human and I try to do my best. No, she is calculating. Beware! read more

I've been terrified to leave a review but this particular nail salon experience rocked me to the core. My friend booked an appointment for us to have our nails done for our senior prom and was treated so politely over the phone. We were very excited to visit Serenity and were falling over the pictures of the manicures done at this particular salon. We walked in on time to our appointment and we were greeted and sent to pick out a color. Everything was great until we picked up the pricing sheet. Our jaws dropped. Our manicures were going to cost us $65 a piece without tip. We politely told Janaan that we just couldn't afford the manicures and that they were out of our price range. She told us then that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy and that we'd have to pay for the manicures anyways. She neglected to inform my friend over the phone that this was in place. I'm also fairly confused on how she intended to enforce this policy without having our credit card information. I feel very taken advantage of being a young teenager. We sat down and got our nails done anyways. During the course of my manicure, Janaan asked my friend to let her dog out twice, offered us jobs under the table, and kept talking negatively about nail salons run by Asian folks. We were extremely uncomfortable the entire time. She criticized my place of work. She talked about how proud she is of her work and how great she is but as you can see in the picture I've uploaded below, my gel manicure chipped 3 days after getting it. My friend also somehow smudged her thumb nail polish and Janaan claimed she didn't have enough time to fix it even though when we tried to leave, she told us she "set aside the time for us" and still charged her full price for a smudged manicure. This isn't even everything that happened but this review is long enough. I'll stick to my damaging nail salons from now on. read more

I got lucky and could do a walk-in....but it was noted that it is typically by appointment only. I also got a 60 min massage....and I will definitely be back because the masseuse was amazing, I wish I could remember her name! The location (in a "meh" strip mall) makes it seem like it could be a typical on and out nail salon...but nope it is a fantastic place worth paying more for, I am SO glad I stumbled upon it!! read more

Update: 12//20/16 I have just cancelled my standing every two week appointments. The cost has risen significantly $25.00 to $40.00 for a fill with crystal and a ever-clear polish and that doesn't' include a tip and if you go 3 weeks she charges an additional $10.00 because she told me she has to to do more work and use more product. All of this along with the fact that my last 3 appointments she was running 30-45 min behind which messed up my schedule. Janan (she is the owner) does excellent work if you can get past the cost and the having to often wait past your appointment time. I have been going to her for about 6 months and she can't find people to work for her, she has Destiny there now and is teaching her to do nails to try and be able to take walk in's but she is usually busy as well so I suggest an appointment if you plan on going here. read more

One of the worst things any professional can do is bash other professionals. This is what the owner did on the phone with me, while calling me honey, baby .... please speak to your customers in a professional and not demeaning manner. Why in the world would a manicure take 1 hr is beyond me, but the manicurist did a lot of everything during my manicure: ate chips, drank water, went to her car to get more water, text... the manicure was average at best. I was told that on top of a regular price, there would be a 4% charge for using that particular card, cash tips only as well. If you have all day to devote to your nails this might be a good place for you. And maybe it was bring your pet to work day on the day I was there, but there certainly was a dog in the salon. My manicure is not any different or better then any other place. I will not return to the salon mostly because of the owners attitude. read more

Don't go here! They ruined my feet forever. I had no idea using a razor on your feet is illegal. The owner told me it would help with my hard heals well it turns out my feet will never be the same! On top of that I was 1 min late to my appointment once and they gave it away to a walk-in (even though the reason I was 1 min late was to pick up cash for their tip because they wouldn't take tip on a card)! PLEASE READ!!!! I went to this salon based on yelp reviews and was disappointed. I have been going to nail salons since 1999......so I think my opinion on what's good and bad can be verified by that alone. Where should I begin.....first let me say that the owner, Jenan, came in on Easter to work.....that was lovely. But unfortunately that was the end of the loveliness. I arrived at 1pm and was immediately put in a pedicure chair to start my soak. She didn't start doing my pedicure until 1:30. This is when she began the long and detailed story of how amazing and wonderful she is. Don't get me wrong, her shop is beautiful and she does a great fill but the service was not as amazing as she kept trying to convince me it was. She went on and on and on and oooooooonnnnnnn about how she only has only 'classy' clientele and how she can charge more because she has great service. The problem with that is the fact that she video chatted with her boyfriend through my entire fill. I trusted her when it came to my brow wax......BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! She completely changed the shape of my brow when I asked her specifically to just clean them up. I love my brows and was upset for days about this. The final straw was when she saw the work of my previous nail salon and said, "oh my god this pink is so dark.....they put black girl nails on you." If I wasn't mid fill I would have walked out. Again, I will say that her fill was perfection but not worth the trouble and cost. And while I'm on the subject of price. I paid $115 dollars (not including tip....which you have to pay in cash btw) for a fill, mid level pedicure and an eyebrow wax. This wouldn't seem so expensive if you could go every three weeks, but I was advised that she requires that all of her customers come every two weeks to the day. $230 a month NOOOOO THANK YOU!!!!!! read more

Prices are about average. Destiny was very nice. I'm not sure how many people work there as it was just her and the owner. I didn't care for the owner. She was very unprofessional. First, she tried to lecture me about my recent home purchase (because I guess she is an expert) and criticized me about it. Second, she made some new clients wait for her when they came in while she finished doing her hair for a date. That is poor customer service. Also they only except cash tip. I felt so bad I didn't have enough cash I had to come back another day to pay her. It would be nice to know that ahead of time, but they don't have a website. read more

I arrived in the parking lot around 9:50 am on Wednesday, hoping to find the salon open early. Many salons tend to do that, especially when the weather permits. Unfortunately, the salon was still dark and the open sign was unlit. I decided to wait, since I was eager to experience what everyone else had raved about. 9:55 still dark and nobody appeared to be inside the salon. 10:00 salon still dark, not even a hurried arrival to open a few minutes late. 10:05 another prospective client arrived and tried the locked door. Client looked on the door to confirm hours, looked inside the salon, turned and looked around the parking lot in confusion, walked back to her car and left. 10:10 salon dark and I also left because I had a schedule to keep. She was even taken to court by a client and told me all about it. Janan does do quality work. Her people skills need improvement. She leaves you at the chair and goes to smoke outside. She feeds her dog mashed up food during your appointment and swears terribly. She makes you come every two weeks to the day. If you have to cancel you must do it 24 hours before or she charges you full price. No exception. The services took way too long. Two weeks ago (on a Saturday) I had an appointment for a mani and pedi. Janna the owner said she was not feeling well. She only did my mani because she was not feeling well. It took two hours just for the mani. She took a customer behind me (mani/pedi) and was scheduled to go out on a date. I had to run somewhere else to get my feet done even though I had an appointment for both. I decided to give her another try. I had another appointment for a mani/pedi. It started at 4, I was there until 7:30. She only does appointments no walk in. My time is valuable as well. 3 1/2 hours is a to long for an appointment! And the time where she could not do my pedi and I had an appointment and she did another client and was busy getting ready for a date, didn't sit well with me. Not sure if I am a valued customer. She has been there for over six months and has had a difficult time keeping staff. Having additional staff might make it easier to take walk in's and cut long service times. And having more staff might have helped the day she wasn't felling well ( going out on a date) so I could have received my scheduled appointment for a mani. My time I valuable. Tonight I got my first manicure in over 20 years, the salon owner suggested the Cindis Naturals product which is all organic (and made in Michigan) I'm delighted! You know what I thought for weeks if I was going to say how I really felt & then I realized I should be honest. I found this salon from Yelp based off of the photos the nail work looked good. The reviews didn't seem recent. None are even from this year yet. But I hadn't had fake nails on in almost two months. I made an appointment to come in at 6pm on a Thursday. It was about 10 mins from my work so I ran errands & then came early at 5:40 hoping she could help me early. I needed a new gel set & my eyebrows done. It was just the owner Janet I believe & a front desk women. The owner was finishing on a women & so I waited. I didn't get sat until 6:17.. and she had already spent 10 mins on the phone with the previous women. While she did my nails she continued to have a 55 minute phone call. Very personal phone call. Which I understand important calls but not for an hour while you're supposed to be working on someone. I had a hard time relaxing between her cussing & listening to the conversation. She kept telling me to relax because I was making her have to lean forward. But I couldn't relax at all.. it wasn't soothing. I will admit she did a good job. My nails looked nice. But my one nail chipped 5 days later. Also I've been getting fake nails for years & a full gel set cost me 65$. Then I paid to get my eyebrows done which was 20$. I ended up having to paying 85$ plus tipping somehow on top. 65$ is such an outrageous price & I feel like I got taken advantage of. I would rather drive 30-40 mins to a salon that will do the same work for 30$. The owner made me feel extremely uncomfortable & wanted me to write a nice review when in all honesty I had a terrible time. 65$ for that is dumb!!! Too expensive!! Not worth it. I was very impressed with this salon when I was in town to celebrate a friend's birthday last weekend. The owner opened the salon extra early on Saturday to fit both me and my friend in for manicures. The owner is incredibly professional and knowledgeable, and took great care of us. We both got gel manicures for the first time and I think we are both hooked! My nails have never looked and felt better, and she did such a great job. The salon is also beautiful and the entire experience was very relaxing. I am impressed, and she will definitely get my repeat business next time I'm in town! This salon is such a gem for this area. **UPDATE: After over 2 1/2 weeks, my gel manicure still looks perfect even with a little nail growth!!! Hands down the best salon experience I have EVER had and I get my nails done every two weeks. I happened to be driving by and stopped in.. To my luck they were able to get me in for a mani pedi. The salon is so adorable and extremely clean which is a huge deal! Sanitation is key! The pedicure was extremely relaxing with attention paid to detail. The owner, her mother and employee were so friendly and welcoming. Pricing is on point with other places so it's not like you are paying more. I am so pleased and will be a regular for all my spa needs. They do waxing, facials, eyelash extensions and she even has a plastic surgeon who comes in and does Botox and fillers. This was my second time visiting Serenity Nails and Spa and I'm happy to see that Janaan (sp?) got some help! Last time it was just her and she was swamped and could only take appointments (because she's awesome!). She happened to have a cancellation and let me get a mani-pedi my first visit. Appointments are still preferred. I see you walk-in haters... They're well-liked, make an appointment! I love this place - one - because it is so close to my house - two - because the quality is literally unbeatable. I don't take the time to get my nails done often, so it's important to me that when I do, it lasts a long time! My nails did not chip for a month after my last visit! Destiny helped me this time and she was wonderful and careful and my nails look great again! Both visits we chatted about everything and anything. They are just down to earth people and they are not trying to "turn and burn." They take their time with each client and make sure their work is perfect. I'm 39 weeks pregnant and they spotted right off the bat that I had Melasma. They reassured me it would go away after birth, but if not, they have a chemical peel that can remove it! I've come to like my tan spot on my forehead but I am happy to know they can get rid of it and that they are KNOWLEDGEABLE about skin care. They were careful and cautious about certain pressure points that might send me into labor as well. I may go back next week if this baby doesn't come on her due date.
