BEWARE: The sales manager agreed to an out‑the‑door price for the vehicle with full knowledge that I would be paying by credit card. I stated this upfront and specifically asked whether using a credit card would affect the price. My friend who was with me also asked the same question. We were both assured it would not make any difference. Despite that assurance, the dealership later added more than $850 in undisclosed credit‑card surcharges--charges that were neither disclosed verbally nor posted anywhere. I only discovered them when reviewing my credit‑card statement. When I contacted the dealership about the issue, their proposed solution was for me to come in and pay with a check so they could reverse the credit‑card transaction. I bought a new car there and they told me I get one year of oil changes free. My first oil change was for free, but they did not forgot to calibrate the car computer after they performed a wheel alignment on my vehicle. I didn't make it a quarter mile and my car was telling me to take it to the dealership, so I turned around and went back and it took them another hour to realign the car wheels and calibrate the computer. I scheduled my second oil change and when I got to the dealership, they told me I only got one free oil change, and I would have to pay for the rest. I explained to him that I was told when I bought the car, that I would get a year of free oil changes and he again said only the first ones free, so I told never mind I will change it myself. SERRA HONDA O'Fallon - Deceitful or Incompetent I have been a loyal customer of Honda for 25 years, having bought 3 brand new Hondas over the years, but after this experience I will never purchase another Honda product. I thought I would try Serra Honda O'Fallon because of their high "Star Rating". I should have looked closer at the reviews; many "people" gave 5 stars, even though they had complaints. This makes me believe many of these were made up reviews by a marketing team or something done internally. Why would you give 5 stars to any company when you have complaints about them? On to my experience. Serra Honda O'Fallon sold me a used 2016 Honda Civic with an engine that started acting up after I drove it a little over 100 more miles. It did have 260,800 miles on the engine, but that sure is some coincidence that the Civic only lasted about 100 more miles before having major issues. A bunch of sensors (Engine Emissions, Braking System, Power Steering, Vehicle Stability Assist, etc.) started popping up every time I started the car. If I didn't place it in drive quickly and give it gas, it would die; once it got going, the braking seemed odd as well; giving a jerky motion when coming to a stop. I wrote to my salesman, Nic Kilbride, letting him know the issue and waited a couple of days. I expected a response from Nic or someone in the company the same day. I just didn't feel like this was a safe car to drive and didn't want anyone else in my family driving it with all of these problems. After 3 days of not hearing back from Nic or anyone at Serra Honda O'Fallon, I had to make a decision, so I went with what my local respected auto body shop suggested; a replacement of the entire engine. They had found multiple codes: PO301 cylinder #1 misfire, U3000-49 ecu internal circuit failure, U0401-68 ecm failure, UA416-68 vsa malfunction. Their mechanic observed live data and on a cold start there was a rough idle and white smoke blowing out of the exhaust. The mechanic removed the #1 spark plug and scoped the cylinder to find there was coolant in the engine. After 11 days, I tried contacting SERRA Honda O'Fallon again, this time including the General Manager, Alex Williams. I explained my issue in the email, which Alex didn't seem to read all the way through, because he said they could take a look at the Civic. I sent back an email explaining again that I had already had the work done because Nic never got back to me, but that I would like some reimbursement for the repairs that had been done. After I asked how the dealership could sell such a vehicle, he just pointed out that I signed papers that said I accepted it "as is". Well, I never thought the vehicle would have multiple malfunctions and the engine would die after driving it a little over 100 more miles. Alex said he would talk to the owner to see if anything could be done. I waited a few more days with no response, then I contacted Alex again; he did respond back the same day and said the owner wouldn't do anything. I didn't feel like there was much empathy coming from Serra Honda O'Fallon. I let Alex know I would never buy from Honda again, let alone Serra Honda O'Fallon after being cheated. He then wrote back letting me know once more how great Serra Honda O'Fallon is, that they had donated $500,000.00 the previous year to the city of O'Fallon and if I'm ever in the market again for a car to give them another chance. Why would I give a dealership another chance when they tell me their profit margins are very small; an obvious lie if they can donate $500,000.00, yet they couldn't give me anything towards the repair of the broken-down vehicle they sold me? Serra Honda O'Fallon is either deceitful or incompetent. Because of Serra Honda O'Fallon and their ownership's deceitful practices, I will never buy a Honda vehicle again! I will also let Honda of America and Honda of Japan know of my interactions with Serra Honda O'Fallon. I wasn't asking for anyone to be fired, just some compensation for the repairs. read more

I have been dealing with the Honda Dealership/ Parts Department located in O'Fallon since 2004 for all my OEM needs. Back then it was Meyer Honda, now Serra Honda. My main contact person was Phil (Now Retired) He was fantastic at finding all the parts that I ever called in for. When Phil left, I knew I could count on Jim (Parts Manager). Jim has always gone way beyond the call of duty. I remember ordering four new rims for my Accord. Jim allowed me to inspect each rim for any imperfections prior to installation. I know that when ever I have question, I can count of Jim. However, there are times when Jim is not available. I than rely on Dominick, Davin, and/ or Nick. Our finance advisor tried to take advantage of us being a young couple that hasn't bought a ton of cars. He talked super fast to try to confuse us, backtracked on what our sales associate had told us, then gaslit us about the possibility of the price coming down. This wasn't our first time buying a car, and I was really frustrated that Kyle was trying to make us pay way more than what was originally discussed. I purchase a new vehicle every 1-2 years and this is hands down takes the cake for worst dealership and experience. The finance manager Sean Griffin will lie straight to your face. We denied any "add ons" in the back and he STILL put everything on!! Luckily I caught it when I got home just a couple hours later cause he added on over 4k dollars in BS coverage. He will joke and laugh with you to rush you through the paper work so you don't see it. Don't make the same mistake I did. I knew better, but everything seemed great until I got home and caught it. My Bad! Save yourself the headache and if you're looking for a Honda see the surrounding dealerships in the area so you don't get cheated. I've been to Meyer Honda a few times before and they have always delivered top notch service....especially the ones in the service department. They're always super friendly, give you estimate times and check up on you throughout your wait. Also, while you wait, there are charging ports for your electronics, comfy chairs, high top tables, free wifi (password provided). They also provide water, coffee, and oat bars. There are vending machines there if you want something else. For the ones who have kids...there is kiddie area for the little ones. Now....the reasoning for 1 star off.....the receptionist....she's not knowledgable at all. gave me wrong pricing and was not able to find me in their system. Whenever I pulled up in the service department, I provided them the same information the receptionist got from me and he was able to pull my information up right away. Bought a car from there almost two months ago and all the lights in my car came on. I took it in to see what the problem was thinking it wasn't gonna be a big deal. Little did I know it ended up costing me over three grand for the repair. They said they would pay for half which to me they should cover all of it considering it was under a 90 day warranty. They gave me a loner car while mine was being worked on and I let them have mine on a Saturday and my car was supposed to be ready Monday. They didn't finish my car until that next Wednesday. When I went to finally get my car back while still paying for half of the repairs they inspected the loner car they gave me and said they found a scratch on the bumper and that they were charging me and extra $300 dollars!! They sold me a lemon car then wanted to drain me of more money after having my car for almost two months!! I would not recommend going here for a car the people were extremely rude and didn't care how they treated their customers! Came here to service my '13 Fit, which had an air bag recall. The employee was very cordial, and they got me in and out within the expected time frame. The waiting area was clean and had good WiFi -- though, the coffee was pretty bad and there was no selection of snacks (just one type of breakfast bar). Also, getting to the dealership is kind of a hassle. You have to overshoot it on 64, then wind your way back on Central Park Drive. Not a huge deal, but I'd prefer a more convenient location. read more

As far as customer service goes if you have the option, choose Adam as your agent- he goes above and beyond to help you to get your car where you want it to be. He is honest and won't try to sell you services you don't need. However, he is candid about any safety concerns which is much appreciated. The waiting area is comfortable, has free wifi and there are plug ins and a desk bar for your laptop and phone so you can get work done while you wait. Had my vehicle serviced twice under Serra management; the first time there were problems with the things that were repaired the very next day. I had to strongly advocate (ultimately with management) that I should not have to pay again for what was originally repaired due to their employee incompetence and lack of quality assurance and still only received discounts on the re-work. That should have been my last encounter, but I am apparently a gluten for punishment. Months later, I had different maintenance accomplished and asked for a senior technician for competency. Not only did main item I asked for review get fixed to only re-appear within a day, a loose pulley made itself audible. Shame on me. I have lost all confidence in Serra Honda Maintenance. read more

Serra Honda of O'Fallon failed to supply a title to the car I bought before the temporary tags expired. An advocate and I called over 25 times in six months' and talked to several different people. It seemed no one was in charge. We heard many stories of why this was happening and promised to help, but there would be no follow up. Things really started moving when I, out of frustration, mentioned the word "attorney". Three minutes later I got a call from David West, the General Sales Manager. He was like speaking to an irksome robot. They finally, after six months, did the work to get the title. Over that six months, I was forced to drive illegally. I was pulled over for expired temporary tags. I lost over $2,000 income with Uber who requires a title to drive for them. Financial damages total over $2,300 of which they reimbursed $100. Serra Honda ILLEGALLY provided no title. read more

I recently went to get the oil changed and tires rotated, along with checking the AC as it wasn't cooling like normal. On my way there, I discovered that I had forgotten to take a mask, but figured that the dealership would offer one since they sell $30 plus thousand dollar cars and should be able to supply a $1 mask. When I arrived and asked the service Rep if they had any extra masks, he said they had nothing to offer customers, which I found a bit surprising as many people wait there for their cars, buying cars, etc... After being told it would take an additional sixty minutes to check the AC, I decided against that, had the original services performed and left. I took my car to another repair shop for the AC work and highly doubt I will return to Serra in the future. read more

But what really impressed me was how they treated an elderly disabled gentleman who was also there for maintenance. They treated him with compassion and the utmost respect; offering him assistance on rising from his waiting room chair and walking. Not rushing him (even though they were busy) and making sure he fully understood the issues with his vehicle. I haven't seen that kind of humanity displayed to the elderly in a long time. I am going to say that I had previously been a loyal customer of McMahon Ford for my last two vehicles, however after a trip to Meyer Honda I have to admit that I will most likely buy my next car from them in the future. I started my search last October, and stopped into Meyer with some pretty specific demands for my new car. I wanted a specific trim, which was in short supply and to make it even more difficult I wanted the one color that hadn't started production. While I was in no real hurry for my new vehicle, I was rather anxious. The team at Meyer did their best to try to secure the vehicle from other deals, the problem was that since the trim was so hard to get none of the other dealers would trade. This process went on for nearly five months, but Meyer Honda was awesome during this process by keeping me updated on the progress. Luckily I was first on the list so when one arrived, I was sure to get it. My unusual demands made this process rather tedious however that is all on me, I seemed to want the impossible and Meyer delivered! The sales process here is fast and easy, with no B.S. The Finance Office was great, they secured a rate comparable to my bank, and even talked me out of some of the unnecessary add ons and expensive maintenance packages. I loved their honesty, especially telling me that if I bought their maintenance package and took my car somewhere else that I would actually lose money. This was one of the best car purchase experiences I have ever been through, it was quick, easy, and stress free! So we were having a problem w/the AC on our "out of warranty" 2013 FIT. It would only perform at about 50%. Took it to Meyer Honda on a Wednesday and within the time it took Chris Hughes to take it back to the shop--the AC had quit running completely and the condenser had a hole in it! I asked to see the hole and was shown "oil" on a seam on the condenser, and an estimate to fix it for $750.00. I authorized a $529.00 repair w/an "aftermarket" condenser. The repair was done BUT..... When the mechanics had it all put back together they "discovered" the bad news that the AC still didn't work but it would with a replacement AC compressor. AND w/an additional $1000 bill. What a con. So I thought to get a second option from DOBBS auto and tire....they were within $15.00 of the Meyer's estimate. I should have paid the $529.00 and driven it to Dobbs--but no, I figured a dealership could not last long with this kind of relationship building. More bad news from Chris (surprise!) I had to wait another day because the compressor was missing a part when Meyer's order came in. It's now Friday afternoon and still no call from Chris as to whether or not we will see our car until Saturday (if we see it, then). read more

I bought my car here in 2016 and routinely came here for maintenance until I moved in 2020. The sales staff was nice but I had known what I wanted and what I qualified for so I didn't rely on them very much. I will say the loan department staff was very rude when processing my application even though I was already pre-approved for financing with a non-affiliated lender. However, this was four years ago and under the prior owner so I will not fault them for that in this review. The service department was always nice and ran very smoothly. Service staff were very open and kept the owners up to date on what was going on with the vechile. They also offered a complementary shuttle and loaner vechiles when the service would take an extended period. The only time I wasn't happy with the department was the lack of more affordable tires for my vehicle, which required me to go elsewhere. The waiting area is pretty nice and has a few outlets (in a smaller seating area) so you can get work done if needed. Overall, I highly recommend this dealership for routine maintenance like oil changes. The sales staff was more typical of other dealerships. read more

I bought a vehicle from here for 7k and guess what the very next day it started smoking, they knew exactly what they were selling, after much inspection my valve cover was completely blocked and had to be replaced along with all gaskets. This is the inspection that they do and sell you a vehicle with issues. I currently have check engine light on for CAT converter and steering wheel pump is now making noise, vehicle was not balanced neither aligned to specs. Taking it back to Honda. I paid Serra $110 for a battery replacement. Included was battery protection for $1.99. I had not asked for the protection. After getting home, I saw the battery was not correctly installed and the battery terminals were not protected. After taking my car back a mechanic correctly installed the battery and said a clear paint was sprayed on the terminals. There was nothing on the terminals. The advisor then sprayed a three second clear spray on the terminals. The coating could easily be seen. I have worked on cars for over fifty years and do not understand how a battery could be installed incorrectly. read more

I had stopped in to fill out an application for a position and had an interview on the spot. I notified them of my military commitment and no issues questions came my way. Weeks later I email to stay in touch with them to find out they didn't want to hire me because of my military schedule.
