I was helped by Anthony Mena initially and put in an order for a brand new Subaru Hybrid. I customized my order, put in a $1,000 deposit, and agreed to paying $5k over MSRP due to the shortages. This was three months ago. I get a text yesterday my Subaru came in and to come in ASAP to pick it up since they don't hold them for long. I call them to schedule some time, and immediately was told that the "GM" never actually approved the $5k and could only do $15k. They waited 3 months to tell me this. He said the best he could do is $10k so I declined unless we could do the $5k I agreed to. That never happened. Dishonest , greedy, no respect for their customers time. I feel like unless you know a friend that is a mechanic, there are always going to be questionable auto services everywhere. That said, they said my vehicle needed a few things done as opposed to the gasoline station I took it where they told me I would need $3k worth of maintenance done. Saved me lots of money. Two reasons why not a 5 star review: 1) one of my headlights did not work and they never mentioned it. Made me wonder how through are they. 2) this is the second time in a role they told me they "owe me a wash". I never even asked for one but I am guessing one of their highlights is that they clean your car after every maintenance job? I understand my car is old and you believe it is not worth your time to wash, but stop telling me that. Sounds so insincere. And it was a different guy so it tells me they all tell that same line often throughout the day. I easily incline to given companies 5-stars. We lost the wheel lock key to our WRX and needed it in order to get the tires changed. Subaru does not sell a replacement key so we needed to have the wheel lock broken off. Other Subaru dealerships were either booked or too far away from us to take us on a Saturday. Luckily I talked with Anh on the phone and he said that he could squeeze me in no problem and his quoted price was much less than other dealerships. I did a lease for an Outback in 2021 before with my husband and they took good care of us. Fast forward it's time to turn the car in for another lease till last weekend. Unethical business behavior. I drove more than 2 hrs out of loyalty to get messed with and no new lease to show for it. They did not value my time, effort, or loyalty at all. I will definitely tell people when they ask where I got my new leased car from and it was not from Serramonte. They dropped the ball and will upsell you and low ball you. The other dealership I went with were appalled when I told them the shenanigans going on. My last experience at Serramonte, was full of games and trying to sell me the wrong sandwich and saying it was the right sandwich for me. How do I feel? Despite my loyalty, they I feel they threw my sandwich (my business) on the floor and made no apologies for it. When I now know full well, they never intended to give me the sandwich I requested, when I now know they could have. They just couldn't be bothered to when I knew other dealerships do swap cars between other dealerships and they did say over the phone they would try to accommodate me. So I foolishly thought they would help me out due to my loyalty. Nope. I thought about going local, however out of loyalty-how we were treated last time 3 years ago-I had always wanted to go back. He promised to send the specs but he never did. I had been in communication for at least more than several months since my lease was up soon. I had communicated ahead of time the Outback I wanted. I was told they had a grey one, but they would try to get the color I wanted. So I get there after the LONG drive. I checked my email before going down there, but I believed he would take care of me when I got down there. Nope. I checked several times for said email. I was told they had to assess the car I was trading in person. So that day, I got the car washed, vacuumed, cleaned out from personal effects. It's literally my only day to do this and drive through 4 counties and get that all done. I was on time for my appt as far as I remembered and the guy I was in communication with prior to my visit ignored me, he snapped up another couple and passed me off to someone else and made me wait. They were not present or prepared for me. The new guy, was not prepared for my visit as his buddy left him in the lurch in my opinion. He gave him no notes, and the day was getting long with only a gray one to try and they would not try to get the one I wanted in for me as they first said they would. They instead wanted to upsell me a Limited in the color I wanted. It has leather seats and was more than I wanted to spend. Or what about an XT Onyx? I specifically said in good faith and communicated before NOT XT or a higher trim level. They didn't care or listen. At this point I am internally upset because I felt this is not be handled at all like last time & had full intention of getting this done today. The dealership closest to my house found the right car like I had requested from another one by phone that same day for me. All I had to do was take pictures of my car and do an application by phone and was treated much better and wasn't ignored like I was at Serramonte. No hassles like at Serramonte. The last straw was their low ball offer for my trade in by 3000 dollars when they knew they had a well taken care of car. I've been buying, leasing, and trading in my vehicles since 1997. This was the worst. I know a bad deal. I am still annoyed and won't be sending any business their way ever again. I asked for a cheese sandwich, not a more expensive sandwich with tomatoes. Maybe I should have had my husband with me, maybe I should have just said yes to the more expensive sandwich or the same sandwich except with onions? Absolutely not. It's not that hard to treat people well and not be dismissive when they are actually in front of you. I am in another service industry and I guess I expect to be treated in kind, because if I acted that way in my industry, that would not work. I shouldn't have to bring my husband like last time to be taken seriously when I am the one who is more than capable of doing a deal by myself. Oh yeah, the other dealership- not Serramonte -bought my car for more and gave me a fair MSRP lease price that was in my budget. And all paper work was done except for signage when I picked it up yesterday. No BS. Go elsewhere. I drove a total of four hours back and forth from home to get low balled and up sold? I told the sales manager I was very unhappy since I felt I wasted my whole day when obviously with cleaning the car, driving ALL that way through the city , through 4 counties, that I did plan and want to sell my leased vehicle and get a new lease with the same dealer which was supposed to be them- only to be let down harshly, and treated in my opinion not well at all. His excuse was apparently a leadership change and I can see the difference. read more

I learned some things like AAA will give you insurance same day if you don't already have insurance and they provide gap insurance too for cheap (don't buy this from the dealership). I had a very good experience with "Mo" Moath Nemer who followed up with me after the car purchase as well. Gave me the info I needed about the car without being too "salesy". I do think the dealership would benefit from a more hospitable touch. I went to Toyota and a few Honda dealerships and all offered me water, coffee and other beverages upon entry and had free snacks. This sounds superfluous, but since car shopping always takes longer than you anticipate the snacks really keep you from crashing and Subaru just had vending machines who take case (small bills) so it's hard to get what you need at times. I brought my car in for two recall fixes and that went well (I assume they did what they were supposed to do). My car drove perfectly before I brought it in, but the day after they "fixed" it my car lost all power when I was driving, and this has now happened two more times in less than a week. I called to have it brought back to the service department and left a message, but I did not receive a call back. I called again and I now have an appointment to bring it in tomorrow morning. I was told they will let me know after they look at it if they will be charging me to fix my car (again, it was running fine before I brought it in to them). I gave them one star because, I assume, they fixed the recall issues, but I now have more problems with my car than I did before I brought it in, and it looks like I am going to have to pay to fix whatever they broke. UPDATE: I brought my car in and they acknowledged there was a problem with how they fixed one of the recalls, and they were very apologetic about the problems it caused. I'm now giving them four stars since it was not fixed properly the first time, but they were very prompt and went out of their way to make sure it is now fixed correctly and hopefully this will not happen to someone else in the future. read more

Unfortunately I was soured at the end by the finance guy who treated me in a rude and curt manner for no explainable reason...except perhaps he didn't like that I rejected the dealer financing and opted for an alternative with a more competitive APR. In any event it was inexcusable I was treated so ungraciously after having spent nearly 2 hours of my time on top of the tangible economics of buying a car.
