How many visits and how many hours does it take to get a second key for an electric vehicle programmed? Answer: 2 visits and 5 hours! This is the most dysfunctional and disorganized auto shop I've ever encountered and if at all possible, recommend you go to another dealership in the area. Hopefully they are better; it wouldn't be hard. From the other reviews, it seems I'm not alone in my assessment. Which begs the question, what IS management even doin over there?? Not only that, but we only received one of two parts of this brand new fob key. So we had to order the part that allows one to put it on a keychain on Amazon (see photo for what we received vs the entire part). While we didn't order the cut key, it's part of the fob. It's just cheap to remove that, esp everything you put this customer through. And throughout, staff seemed unaware of their own process to ensure that the key and service could happen on the same day, lol, sending us on a goose chase the first time we attempted to get it and numerous transfers on the phone the second time. And on top of that, echo the comments of just general rudeness and staff convey a complete lack of care. If you are stuck with the Serramonte store, be sure to micromanage the process times two. Obviously all of this shouldn't be necessary, but you could save yourself hours of your life. For example, recommend even double checking the day of your appt that the technician is still available and the part in stock. Seriously, heed this warning! Because when attempted the second time, the technician told us we were lucky they had one more in stock. The end.

I came in to get my tire checked and was greeted by Maria... she scanned the car and told me I needed all 4 tire sensors replaced and they were "out of stock" I was quoted 1200 for parts and labor... I went to 2 different mechanic shops and was told NONE of my sensors needed replacement and only ONE needed air in my tire. Not sure why I was told I needed new sensors if it's a FAIRLY NEW CAR(barely 11 months type of new lol) I had just gotten the oil changed and wheel alignment and they had mentioned no issues that was 2 weeks before I came in. Not sure what difference 14 days make it's not like I drive like a nascar driver and messed up the sensors LOL. So I highly recommend to check out your local mechanic before coming here.

A new car for my large dog! Again Aliya is amazing !

Above and beyond!! Not only did i gain a new car which i absolutely love. Aliya was an absolute dream, and i truly felt like i gained a friend! I wanted to trade in my honda 2 door car and new i wanted just a very basic jeep that could fit my large god. Not only did aliya listen to what i wanted she was nt trying to up sale me on anything (but honestly she could sell water to a fish). Not only after closing the deal on the car, Aliya stayed in touch to make sure i was still happy with my choice... im extremely happy with my choice to go to this dealer ship, everything was so good from the test drive, signing over the car etc.

Chevy Special Coverage for known defect P2138

A dealer's first duty should be safety. Stewart Chevrolet chose profit instead. My 2018 Chevy Malibu suddenly dropped from 70 mph to 20 mph on the highway. Had I died, no one would have known why. Only later did I learn my car carries a known defect covered by GM's Special Coverage N182188250 -- the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (DTC P2138). GM's own guidance is clear: if this code appears, the repair is covered for 10 years or 150,000 miles. AutoZone's diagnostic tool confirmed the code. I brought that proof to Stewart Chevrolet. Instead of honoring GM's policy, here's how they responded: Dismissed the evidence: "P2138? That means nothing." Blamed me instead: suggested "maybe rats ate your wiring." Demanded money: $500 up front just to "diagnose" a defect GM already acknowledged. Misled me about policy: They claimed the coverage was mandated by GM, and told me to complain to GM if I disagreed. When I called GM directly, I learned the truth -- the dealer alone decides whether to honor the coverage. Knowingly put me back on the road: Even after I cited GM's policy, they refused to fix it and let me drive away in a car with a defect that could cause sudden, life-threatening failure. I know what will happen next: the owner will likely reply here claiming this was a "misunderstanding" and ask me to contact them privately. That's their usual script whenever a negative review appears. Consider this review the real story behind that script. The danger is not a misunderstanding. This is about documented facts, a known defect, and a dealer's refusal to do the right thing. If you value honesty, accountability, and your own well-being, avoid this dealership. Your life may depend on it. Update (in response to management's reply): Stewart Chevrolet's response sounds polite, but it misses the point. If this is truly about safety, then why not simply waive the diagnostic fee up front -- confirm whether the issue is covered, and if it isn't, then tell me so? That's the fair and obvious approach. Instead, Stewart demanded I risk $500 just to get them to look at a known GM defect -- even though AutoZone's scan already confirmed the exact code tied to GM's Special Coverage N182188250. This is not about "policy." It's a business decision designed to discourage customers from pursuing warranty work, leaving them to pay out-of-pocket or walk away. The bottom line: Stewart Chevrolet put profit over safety, let me drive away in a dangerous car, and tried to charge me for the privilege. That tells me everything I need to know about how they treat customers.

On top of that I got a great deal and my lease payment is actually significantly less than what I was paying on my older EV6, same trim package. We had it towed to this dealership's service department since they could take it overnight and diagnose it the next day. The diagnosis ($500) found a rear left wheel speed sensor issue and some transmission problems. Getting an actual quote from there, however, was a nightmare. Communication was our biggest frustration. Since we didn't have a car, we couldn't just show up. We were entirely dependent on phone and email. Our service advisor was a nice person, but it was incredibly difficult to: Get him on the phone Get a straight answer on costs (parts and labor) Get anything in writing To make matters worse, the service advisor mixed us up with other customers and sent our information to them. That's a pretty concerning lack of attention to detail and a privacy issue. Once we approved the work and parts were ordered, he kept giving us delivery dates that came and went without any update. We had to chase him down every time. Our car sat in their shop for 45 days. Then, the kicker. We picked up the car, and before we even got home, the ABS light came back on. The very issue we brought it in for in the first place. On top of that, the car was making a really weird scraping noise that hadn't been there before. When we returned, they diagnosed a front right wheel speed sensor malfunction and said they'd need to order the part (of course not in stock). We needed the car back for a family emergency, so we left frustrated and unresolved. When I escalated to the general manager, the response was dismissive and at times patronizing. Not what you want to hear after 45 days, poor communication, and an incomplete repair. The one bright spot was Walter, the service advisor manager, who actually listened, validated our concerns, and showed genuine empathy and understanding. Here's what really puts it in perspective. We ended up paying around $2,000 at this dealership for a 45-day ordeal that still didn't fully resolve the issue. When we took the Jeep to a local mechanic in my hometown, he was able to diagnose the problem, source the part, and install it. All in a single day, for under $150. He also identified the scraping noise as a brake plate issue and fixed it easily at no extra charge. I understand Bay Area prices are higher, but that's not a small markup. That's an enormous gap that's hard to justify given the level of service (or lack thereof) we received here. Bottom line: Disorganized, unresponsive, and overpriced. The mechanics may be fine, but the service experience was so poor that it doesn't matter. If you're a Jeep owner, I'd strongly recommend finding another shop. A dealership that specializes in your vehicle should make the process easier, not harder. This place did the opposite.

As I left here about nine years ago, a friend who just partnered in a new business bought the van from me for price that CarMax priced it. Fast forward to now, my brother's friend made an appointment to bring my brother's van. Sharing all of the pertinent information with them online, we walked in a little after their 10 am opening time on a Wednesday morning. Our greeter asked how he could help us and led us to business office counter and helped us check in for our appointment. We found seats in the waiting area and listened for our names to be called. A few minutes later, we gave them the van key, my driver's license, the pink slip, and vehicle registration. We told him where the van was parked and someone inspected the car to verify the information the friend provided. They confirmed the quoted price given to the friend and asked us to wait as they finished the paperwork. We were called to a desk where we signed documents including the pink slip turning ownership of the van to them. All told, we were in and out of there in 30 minutes as the greeter gave as his estimate. Thanks to the greeter whose name I didn't catch and the various people who helped with our transaction. Big thanks to Timothy who initiated our appointment and guided me in signing all of the paperwork. Service advisor started out with roughly $2,200 of recommended services. (Eg fluid flushes, cabin air filter, coolant and inverter coolant services, wiper blade replacement, fuel system conditioner, brake fluid service, throttle bottle cleaning, engine crankcase cleaning, tire balancing/alignment). I declined/deferred nearly all of those but still ended up with roughly $220 of work pending for an oil change and inspection. Three weeks ago I had seen a coupon for a $19.99 oil change which is why I made the appointment. (I called 2 weeks ago, shortly after making the appointment to confirm that the coupon would be honored, and the lady on the phone said it would be.) But today's "service advisor" basically tried to tell me that no such coupon existed. He said maybe sometimes there's a coupon for a ~$80 oil change but never $20. It was baffling. He went and asked the manager about this and they said the offer is issued by a third party, not generally published, and must be presented at the time when service order is written. And that supposedly they can't look up whether my VIN is one of those eligible for the coupon? (Sus!!) After a few minutes I dug through my inbox and found it: the exact offer targeted at my VIN. After producing the coupon, I had to forward it to the service advisor, and only then they honored the price of the oil change. The advisor was seemingly frustrated with me and got rid of all the other optional maintenance services without me even asking. I walked out paying $24 for the oil change and multipoint inspection, which was a good deal. They probably did this service for me at a loss, for which I am grateful. Later I learned that these service advisors earn commission, so no wonder their incentive is to get you to perform as much work as you're willing to pay for. If you want the bare minimum, make sure you come prepared to assert your coupon up-front. You should probably even print the email and be prepared to forward it on. For this promotion, they are seemingly targeting cars that haven't been in for service for a long while that have recently lapsed Toyota care. I remarked to the service advisor that all he had to have done is tell me to search my email for it, and it would have been easier. He got offended at my suggestion. ¯\_(°ペ)_/¯ The whole interaction felt like an attempted bait-and-switch. If you want to check to see if you're eligible for the coupon. The phrase to search your email for is WE WANT YOU BACK AT CITY TOYOTA. The promotion comes from an email address ending in zonicdesign.com I anticipate Toyota will try to have this Yelp review suppressed so that other people don't find it.
