I called sunbeam to check out my furnace for some issues I was having. Long story short they advised me a switch was stuck in the "on" position and I needed a new one. Well all they did was clear a little dust out of a tube and said they can order the part and come back another day. They advised me the part was $350 and tried to get me to sign up for a membership. Which I declined all. Found the part for $40 online, which I didn't need anyways. I did pay them for their callout service, that's it. Now I am receiving multiple "bills" in the mail for over $500. I have been calling multiple times a week and all I get is "I will forward this message to the billing department. Guess what. No call back. The two technicians were very professional, polite and competent. The found a loose connection in the furnace and corrected it. They explained the problem and what they did. I only paid for a "diagnosis" charge but the home visit fee was waived due my service contract. I was very satisfied with the service. read more

I've got a service contract with them for annual maintenance on the central air that they installed. Every time they come, I'm more impressed with their competence and professionalism. The air conditioning system was installed with no glitches and worked well from the beginning. Sunbeam calls me every year early in the season to schedule the maintenance, so I don't even have to remember it. Two different technicians have come, and both have been on time and excellent. They give you a two-hour window for the technician's arrival. When they called to confirm my appointment for the next day, I asked if they could come early in the window, as I had an appointment for just after that. I knew it might or might not happen, so I was delighted when I got a call two minutes before the starting time that he'd be here in fifteen minutes. And when he left, he closed the door gently I recommend Sunbeam to anyone. Everyone I've met, from receptionists to technicians to installers, puts the customer first. read more

We had a water leak around our furnace. Sunbeam came out. Couldn't find the source. They intimated we needed a new furnace. ( Ours 10 yrs old. ). After they left we turned off the humidifier and the leak stopped. ( sunbeam never cked this). Called another heating company. They found that the drain for the furnace and humidifier was plugged. Unplugged drain and problem fixed. (10 min job). Even tho we have a contract with Sunbeam, we will not have them service our furnace or air conditioner. read more

Aaaand it gets better. After my review written 2/11/13 a representative from Service Experts contacted me in an attempt to earn back my business and as a gesture offered me a complimentary furnace tune up. I appreciated the effort and thought I'd give them another shot. As the weather is turning colder, I booked my maintenance appointment. It was scheduled for this morning between 8:00 and 10:00. As 10:00 drew near, I called the office to get an ETA as I have a number of things to do on this, my day off. The representative on the phone informed me that they had called one of the two numbers listed on my file and left a message to cancel. As it was on my back up phone that I don't use anymore I just went to check. They did. Just after 2:30 pm yesterday, less than 24-hours before my appointment, someone left a message apologizing that they were canceling my appointment for maintenance because there were calls for repairs to homes that don't have heat. Ummm, WTF?!?!? First of all, I don't have heat either. While it's been chilly it certainly isn't freezing. You can survive without heat still for a bit. Secondly, most businesses expect 24-hours to cancel an appointment or charge. Their utter lack of respect for my time and the fact that I had to clear my schedule for this and they just canceled what would have been a 15-30 minute call without consideration is repulsive. Thirdly, if they had TWO phone numbers for me and the first one went straight to voice mail, why wouldn't they try the other number?! And lastly, but not least, the woman on the message said that I should call to reschedule and that the soonest they could get me booked for would be late next week or the week after. Clearly, I'm not a valuable customer. If I did business like this company does, I'd be out of business. Just to add, I am in the middle of closing on two more houses within the next two weeks and I stupidly thought to get Service Experts to service those too. Not anymore. They'll never get another dime from me and I strongly urge anyone reading this to find another service company if they value their time at all. Stay away for Sunbeam Service Experts! read more

Very suspicious how my thermostat stopped working a week or so after I had this company over for routine periodic maintenance on my central air. One guy seemed to know his way around, but he sent the apprentice over to look at the thermostat. Lo and behold, it broke down--nothing was wrong with my system when I called them in. Buyer Beware: Air Duct Cleaning Called for free in home estimate: only do offer verbally over phone Promised- $695- Video before/after, vacuum, sanitize, and deodorizer (book now $595) Got appointment 2 weeks out- company changed appointment date 2 times after date set, and then came unannounced a day early. Tech told to just vacuum ducts. Didn't have any extra equipment on van. **Tech was great. Friendly and Professional(would give tech 5 stars) No before video (tech offered to use phone to try and take a few pics) No sanitation, deodorizer, or after video. Called office with concern- got a run around. Finally agreed to a $100 credit. Which is pretty lousy for what they did. So paid $495 to have someone run a vacuum through the ducts. It took a month for them to post the bill to my credit card, with no refund, had to dispute with credit card company (refund of $100 received). Office staff has too many hands in the pot/lots of confusion. Managers show no empathy, acknowledgement, or appropriate compensation for the multiple issues I had. I would avoid this company for any duct cleaning work. read more

DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT CALL THEM! What a shady company! I called them because during our record heat our air conditioner stopped working. Not only did they tell me that it was shot but that I also needed a new furnace to the tune of $10,000. I believed them (because who would lie about something like that - esp. a reputable company) but wanted to get some other estimates. Luckily KJ Mechanical ran diagnostics and told me that both units were fine and they didn't know why I would need to replace them - heat exchanger not cracked as I was told. They added Freon to my air conditioner and said if there was a leak in the line they could trace it and repair it! Total bill from other company was less than $400. We were sweating and so uncomfortable this past week. I am so disappointed in Sunbeam - they are not the company they use to be. They are not the original company - they were bought by Service Experts - they are experts in trying to rip you off! Stay away - I don't know how they sleep at night. I am out $109 from their rip-off service call too! We had a nice cool sleep last night thanks to KJ Mechanical. Lesson learned - big companies no more - the little guy has ethics! read more

Came back from vacation on a Sunday night to find my hot water heater shot. Called Sunbeam the next day before 9 AM, figuring they'd be swamped on a Monday morning, but they told me that they'd have someone out here as soon as the new tank came in. To my surprise, I had a new tank before noon. Roger is the BEST mechanic, quickly sizing up the situation and keeping me informed about what's going on with the repairs. He's been here to install and service the air conditioning, too, and I've never been disappointed in his work. Kudos, too, to Greg, who worked with him on the hot water tank. Service Experts is the company that takes Sunbeam's overflow phone calls (because they don't want you to get a busy signal or voice mail), and I've hated dealing with them, because they never say they're calling on behalf of Sunbeam. Once I figured they were trying to sell me something and I just hung up. They were actually calling to confirm a service call. But I'm willing to put up with Service Experts to get Roger's work. So Service Experts gets one star, and Sunbeam gets five, and I guess that averages out to four. read more

I called this company for an emergency furnace fix, when they were still called Sunbeam, because they were in the phone book with "24 hour emergency service" on their ad. They sent out a tech promptly even though it was 10:30 at night. He quickly diagnosed my issue and was back the next day when the parts came in. I signed a maintenance contract soon after - I pay them $100 a year to come once in the spring to maintenance my AC and once in the fall to maintenance my furance. This is a LOT cheaper than paying for a visit after there is a problem and gives you the peace of mind that everything is going well with your equipment (and I won't wind up going over night without heat again). I've found their staff very professional and knowledgable. read more

I had maintenance service on my furnace. I had a schedule between 10 and noon for their arrival. They were kind enough to call me to let me know they were running behind schedule and then called me when they were on their way. I had a maintenance contract with Sunbeam (for heating and central air) for a year and a couple of trouble calls for the aging furnace. I don't have complaints on the work that was done or the courtesy with which they did it. However, I became very uncomfortable because it seemed to be routine for them to suggest additional work of a questionable nature. In my opinion none of their suggestions were warranted. On 11/1/13 I received a check for $96.00 with no explanation other than refund. I am calling this issue closed in my book. But I will never use a Service Expert company again. After this issue I was talking to my neighbor across the street. He said while they were away last year a pipe froze which created a water leak. The plumber from a Service Expert company quoted an outrageous price to repair the leak. One of his friends took a look at the problem and fixed it with a $5 2-1/2 foot length of copper pipe. There seems to be a pattern and just doing damage control on bulletin boards isn't going to solve the problem. read more
