I would not recommend this company ever again. Had issues with our A/C units from day one. First it was thermostats not being hooked up properly - compressor in attic was never changed/swapped out when new units were put in. Water coming down the walls. It's been 8 years and still have problems that they will not address stating it's not under warranty. Now we have "contamination" in the A/C unit. Had Roy's plumbing come in and cost me $1600.00 to fix the mess from Emerald. Very poor customer service, Managers don't address the complaints to getting back to their customers. The communication on who was coming to the house was probably the only good thing. My ac needed a tune up. However, when they showed up, they said there was leaks in my AC and it needed to be replaced. I was told to not use it at all and get some window units. I asked for a quote for a new unit. They suggested I ask for a permanent wall unit for 3 floors and a separate quote for a new 2 ton unit. So they couldn't even quote on-site I had to wait for someone else. Since the unit couldn't be tuned, they had to change the order to a maintenance call. My expected cost went from $58 to over 100. Theu gave me a discount for being a first time customer so I had to pay $80 for 20 minutes of their time to tell me my ac is a dud. The servicemen didn't communicate all what I needed to the quote person either The cost for new unit would be $8-10k. I ended up going elsewhere. The company I went for checked out the unit, confirmed it was dead (25 years old) and charged me $0 for an estimate instead of maintaince. The new ac unit is $3k cheaper too. I won't use Emerald again as I felt taken advantage of since I'm a woman. read more

I can honestly say that Emerald is amazing. I called them back in February to get a quote for an air conditioner, from the first phone call I knew things would be good. I struggled to find someone who was willing to work on a manufactured home, even though its a brand new one. They worked with me to install the air conditioner on a day I already had off from work. The two techs came and they were polite and non intrusive (which I was grateful for as I was finishing my masters thesis). They communicated every step of the way and I'd typically get nervous about the boss being called/showing up but they truly just wanted to know that their work was good. I am very happy with their work and they stick by their work. They had to come back out once because the fan for the AC was extremely loud. No issues and they came out within a few days. Two more great guys and a simple fix. I highly recommend Emerald especially if you have a manufactured home! read more

We had a unit replaced last year on a property that we sold. Emerald called and asked if we wanted a 1 year check-up but also offered to apply it to another property, free. They checked my mom's heater and told her the heat exchanger was cracked. Gave her an estimate of $3500!!! They wouldn't show her camera proof or anything. Mom called in another company she's worked with before for a second option. Guess what. Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, is wrong with her furnace. i was going to give this company 5 stars but after they left and got a second opinion I only will give them 1. It is a joke. Quoted $4500 for air conditioner and circuit for my furnace. Then another company came in and for $217 fixed the problem. This is what I expected from this company they their technician just wanted to take the easy way out. Jiggle the pipe, make an assumption and tell me I need a new system. Competition came out, cut the pipe, removed it, changed settings, and boom! Good as new. unreal. They were helpful for buying a new system, but no clue when it comes to troubleshoot. Never again! Update 8/17/16: Manager called me back and returned the service fee he charged me. He also informed me that he is sending his techs to classes because what happened should not have occurred. Very pleased with the follow up. This shows that what happened to me may have not been the norm. Bumped up 2 more stars because of this. read more

Heard a humming sound in the house, thought it was electrical. Cut power to the house to see if it was electrical. Humming noise still present so electrician said it was furnace based. Emerald heating came out as they were the company who installed furnace and it is still under warranty. Two technicians, who were very friendly and courteous, could not hear the noise and said it definitely is not furnaces based. Although the furnace is still under warranty, I was charged an $80 service fee for a ten minute visit. Furnace was not even touched or examined in any way. Just visually looked at. Extremely disappointed that I was charged a service fee for a visit that included exactly no work at all. read more

I'm extremely satisfied with the solution and service that Marty and his team at Emerald provided in regards to our Air Conditioning needs. We have a large, 40+ year old home with a boiler heat system so we don't have ductwork. Emerald was able to offer different options based on our needs. They installed a ductless AC unit in the 1st floor master bedroom and a central air system with an air handler in the attic. This provided a clean solution that provided AC in each bedroom upstairs. Since we have an open floor plan with a loft that overlooks our family room the cool air reaches the downstairs. Marty, the owner, was very hands on. He made sure the work was done right. However, he has a very good team of technicians. They are experienced and knowledgeable, but also very friendly, respectful with wonderful personalities. I was especially impressed by Adam C. and Mark N's professionalism. They updated us every day on the schedule and progress. Since the majority of the work was in the attic during some hot summer days we worked with them on scheduling. They worked early mornings while the temperatures were bearable. Once the air conditioning reached the attic it was more comfortable for them. It was a big project, but Emerald was able to handle it with no problems. I would recommend Emerald to anyone and will call them if we need any heating service. read more

Had 4 zone valves replaced. My mother was house sitting when they did the work. The copper pipes that come down from the ceiling came down to the manifold crooked. I called and they sent someone right out. They technician that came out was friendly and kept commenting on why the technicians that came out did what they did and was justifying the bad work done. He straightened the pipes a little but wasn't willing to do what should of been done the first time without charging me more. Then it turned out he was the one that did the original work so he was lying to me for the 2-3 hours that he was there. Plus the zones they replaced one was brand new and disappeared in which the company hasn't called to tell me anything about it. The cherry on top was if I did all four zones they were going to do a free service call which hasn't been done. So I would not recommend this company. read more

My AC wasn't working properly so Emerald came out, said my refrigerant was leaking. They filled it, put in a dye to find the leak, and came back the next week to find my service port valves were leaking coming off the unit. Just that alone was over $400. So I was told I had to replace them: $900, but he couldn't provide me with any kind of breakdown or how he got to that number. Just $900 to fix it. My unit is 6 years old and Emerald did a tune up last spring and found nothing wrong. I talked to 3 other AC guys. First guy said in over 40 years of business, he's never had to replace those valves. Second guy said even if they are leaking, there are two spots that it would be leaking from and both can easily be repaired without replacement. Third guy came over and determined there was no leak. There's a spot on those valves that if you press it, it shoots out refrigerant in each direction, much like the picture Emerald gave me of the "leak". Now I'm not saying Emerald intentionally doctored a leak for whatever reason, but the dye pattern in their picture was eerily similar to the one we re-created by pressing on the valve. In any case, there is no leak. This guy also noticed my filter was very dirty and most likely caused the problems I was experiencing. Problem solved - $0. And I found a new HVAC guy, never calling Emerald again. Lesson of the day: always get a second opinion. read more

Fixed my problem, however, they do not apply their estimate fee (~$80) to the job. I understand that estimate fees are necessary to cover costs involved with losing bids on large jobs where there are estimates from multiple companies, however, they should be included when you choose them for the fix, especially when it's a small job. I shouldn't have to pay extra just because the guy they send doesn't have the time, equipment, or supplies to just fix it on the spot. They did a great job, but I'm going to avoid them for small jobs in the future, it's ridiculous to pay $80 to have someone tell you they'll be back to fix your $200 problem. read more

Called them to repair my 9year furnace which was originally purchased from them. After putting in 700.00 dollars worth of parts. They could not repair it stating it was electrical. Removed the parts charged the service charge and we needed a new furnace. Furnace had a 10 year warranty that ment nothing. Came the next day with new furnace. Choices limited to 2 reg or HEF. No discounts, no specials offeres. Furnace was installed 2 day later flyer comes to buy back furnace, install for 0% for twelve months and will give you a humdifer. Called regarding deal was informed buy owner that the flyers are mailed out randomly but they cannot do anything to accommodate us. They offered no discount, no humdifer, and no cash back for the furnace that they took. Didn't even state that we could of financed. I am not happy with the way they dismissed their promotional flyer offered nothing to accomdate my complaint. In the long run they will take advantage of the situation, the elderly and not stand by their flyer promotion. Lesson learned weather you have heat or not shop around if you need a new furnace. read more

Had Emerald come out to triage an AC problem. They were quick to suggest replacing parts. When I mentioned I had an extended warranty on the unit, from a company in which they are an authorized service provider, they quickly decided they couldn't do the work. Even after getting a direct referral from the warranty company, they would not return my phone calls or answer my email. Extremely disappointed with their customer service. I was charged (and I paid) $180 for these diagnostics services on a warranted system. After registering a complaint, Emerald did return my phone call. Despite my earlier experience, I attempted yet again to work with Emerald to resolve this issue. Emerald come back to my house again in March in an attempt to resolve this. Their Field Supervisor told me the only way they would attempt to resolve this warranty claim was if I paid $280 for a diagnostic test. The Field Supervisor assured me that from this point forward, only he would work on my system. I begrudgingly accepted the diagnostic charge and scheduled the test. When Emerald showed up this past week to perform the test, the Field Supervisor was not present. The technician told me I would need upwards of $600 of refrigerant before he could perform the test: a total of $900 out of my pocket for Emerald to test my leaky system before they would tell me if they would perform the warranty repair. I did not go forward with this diagnostic. My earlier extreme disappointment with Emerald Heating and Cooling has only intensified. I will not do business with this company and I will tell anyone who will listen to me about my experience with this company. read more

I am new to the area, and my a/c stopped working during a week that was predicted to be 90 degrees. I called at 4:50 pm, and they came out within an hour and fixed my problem. Emerald H&C was recommended by a friend. My furnace was dead; tech (Joe) came out and said furnace should not be used and should be replaced. Because of disabilities I told Joe that I could not have the new 95% efficient furnace because I could not go out in bad snowy/icy weather to keep the vent pipe clean from snow and ice build up; also because I live alone and have no family. Joe stated it would not be a problem to get the old type furnace that did not have to be vented out the basement wall. I ended up with an Amana furnace for an 1100 square foot house for more than $2,300. I was in a bind and could not wait in the cold weather to shop around. Because of Joe's demeanor and that he appeared to be sincere I went ahead with the purchase and furnace was installed. I asked if Joe would be doing installation but he said he would send one of his best guys and come out and check. HE NEVER DID. Several months later with a group of people, I discovered more than 3 in the group had furnace replacements: one person had Lennox high efficiency (95%) for $1900.00; second one had a Rheem (95%) high efficiency for $2150.00 and another also had Rheem for $2000.00. EMERALD H&C really gouged me for the furnace I received; wholesale they paid about $600 or less for the unit. I was so upset that I wrote a letter to the owner but he never acknowledged it. My ace in the hole is that I belong to a lot of groups and organizations and I have the luxury of informing many people to avoid Emerald Heating and Cooling and go elsewhere. Very professional company. I had my furnace replaced in May as the old furnace had major issues and started on fire. This company came right out to see what happened that same day I called. WITHOUT a major wait! They were there inside of 1.5 - 2 hrs! During the whole process they were very professional and explained everything. They even followed up with a phone call about a week after the job was completed. A couple weeks after that I had a concern and they immediately sent their man out to check out my concern of a noise I heard. Again a follow up call to make sure I was satisfied then, about 3-4 weeks later, I received a "Thank You" for my business with a mug with their logo! I thought their price was fair, their service excellent and their customer service was exceptional. It is rare now to find a business that is so concerned with the satisfaction of their customers. Once saying their techs called in sick...at that time I rescheduled for a few days later and when that 2nd appointment came, they never showed up and acted like I never rescheduled it.
