It was right after an holiday (day after new years) and there were very few people a head of me. I got everything done pretty quick and left when my actual appointment just started. I was called up about 5min in-between signing in and the start of my appointment.

Each time we had a different agent and each time we were told a different story about what paperwork was needed to put my name as a co-owner of a leased car we decided to buy. the agent wasn't rude: she just didn't care. She neither apologized nor acknowledged the inconvenience of our experience. Saying "sorry for the inconvenience " didn't cross her mind. It was clear that she wasn't very experienced. That's fine; no one's born to a job. She then asked her coworker some questions . What bothered us is that she asked these questions in another language. She had my passport, drivers license, and other private information in front of her and she's speaking another language which we didn't understand. Don't mind her asking questions to do a better job; however, speaking in a different language while you have private information in front of you from a client is disrespectful. It's rude. Even worse: no transparency. English is not my first language, but in 30 years of dealing with clients in the public and private sectors, I've never seen this happen. ( If we were guests in a non-speaking English or French country we would understand. This was not the case. ) Poor job training, lack of common sense, inconsistent and incomplete information and disinterest in our situation was evident. A bit of empathy and willingness to help would have gone a long way. Rename this location "Lack of Service, Ontario"

I presented valid documentation showing my legal status in Canada (a PGWP application that allows me to work and remain in Canada while waiting for the actual permit), which is accepted by IRCC, my employer, and other ServiceOntario locations (as I later confirmed). But it was not good enough for the staff here. The employee "assisting" me insisted that I had to go to a different "headquarters" location in order for my documents to be valid for this application. Their manner was unnecessarily aggressive and dismissive, especially considering I was simply trying to access a health card. I went to a different ServiceOntario location the same day (not the 'headquarters' one). Staff reviewed the exact same documents and processed my OHIP application without any issues or questioning. After reading other reviews (on Google, not here), it appears that misinformation is REPEATEDLY being given at this location. This causes people to lose time, money, and access to essential services due to staff not being properly trained about their services and basic human decency. I would strongly suggest avoiding this branch and going to another ServiceOntario location where staff are knowledgeable and actually willing to help.

I went in to renew plates and after standing in line for 10 minutes and as the place was about to officially close (but everyone in line would be served) realized I didn't have the insurance information written on the form. I asked one of the employees standing near the door (& doing nothing else) to go to the car in the parking lot and get the info. She said because it was 5pm right then they were officially closed and no in and out. She said I had to call a friend to come to my car and get the info out for me and pass it in through the door...seriously. I spoke to the supervisor and explained the situation hoping to get some human rational thought and compassion but was told the same thing. My friend got there 10 minutes later and passed me the insurance info...there was no one left in line (yes, I would have already been done had they let me get the info out of the car myself) so I walked up to the counter and was told I didn't even need the insurance information since it was all in the computer!!! Not only are they inhuman, unreasonable jerks in this place they are incompetent ones. There was literally no need for my buddy to be dragged out to the parking lot to begin with! I would think the supervisor of a place like this would know such details...guess not. Our government employees at work for us, I guess.

Today, Tuesday, July 21, at 10 am, I went to renew my health card and was met with a very excellent and helpful receptionist and Service Canada employee, Ms. Edith, who was very understanding and kind in handling my entire situation as a person with a disability. I am truly grateful to all the staff at Service Ontario, especially the excellent receptionist and employee, Ms. Edith.

Prior to the pandemic, wait times were 1 to 1.5 hours. There was an online chart giving typical wait times throughout the week. Very useful. During pandemic times, most common services require an appointment but a few don't have appointments. When you arrive, there is a pre-screening person at the front. Because of appointments, there are far fewer people in the waiting area. You still get a ticket to wait but wait times are now 5 to 15 mins only! The waiting seats have signs to block off seats to ensure physical distancing. There are screens showing the called ticket numbers showing you which agent booth to go to. There are 43 booths. Certain booths are assigned certain functions. They accept debit and credit cards for payment. There is no free WiFi but part of the waiting area has access to the free TD Bank WiFi. Mobile internet is also available even though the office is in the basement. There are no customer washrooms but you can use the mall washrooms.

My most recent visit was because I had received notification that I finally required a change over for my old health card (yes, the red and white one that never expired) to the new green photo ID health cards. While it can be considered an inconvenience to have to constantly renew your new health card every 5 years at least it's in sync with the expiry of your drivers license so when you do have to return to one of these Service Ontario offices you can kill 2 birds so to speak. While I enjoyed having a "forever" health card I understand why the province wants to get rid of the old cards. They never expire and you cannot tell who is really using them since there's no photo. Having a photo ID card for OHIP makes sense since it will help prevent abuse of our system in which we all pay to help fund. This office is fast, there was 7 people in front of me not including those already being helped at the counters and I was in and out of the office in just over 10 minutes which included my time at the counter. I've always noticed this office is fast and really not as busy as some of the other Service Ontario offices I've been to in Etobicoke which is why I always use this Burlington office. Plate stickers you can get through the mail now since the Ontario kiosks have been removed years ago. This particular office in Burlington is fast, convenient and efficient. I've never waited more than 20 minutes in all the times I've gone.
