As a business owner, I was insulted by using this company! My main sewer drain clogged, was bubbling and overflowing out of my toilet and shower, my basement is ruined, I called thiis company who advertised that they were 3.7 miles from mE, although they were an hour and a half from me, the gentleman who came was knowledgeable and friendly, did his job well. However.... when I woke up the next day, and flushEd the toilet, my wife screamed upstairs thee toilet and shower were overflowing again and spewing sewage all over my basement carpeting again. Ok, so I call the company again, thinking they warranty their work the very next Day, No!!!! They charge me again! The snaking, the toilet removal, the camera, and the real kicker, they removed 2 clean out caps, with my help and my tools, and charge me $82.50 each to do their job, the guy threw his dirty paper towels in my garage, for me to clean up, luckily I saw them hidden in the corner. So as if I wasn't violated enough in a crisis, I was given a price quote of $22,000.00 to fix it, and even pressured to make a decision on a spot, then the price dropped $2,000.00 when I hesitated. I was informed that they only had 2 competitors in the state, what a lie! So I called around within the hour, found a price already for $10,000.00, $12,000.00 less than these corrupt gangsters. My advice for any consumer, stay away from this company!!!!! I made a mistake, $500.00 for the first visit, $1,200.00 for the second visit. And currently have the Same problem, my house is ruined, I am out $1,700.00, and I have to hire real professionals to fix my problems. On the one hand, the service techs that have come have been pleasant, amiable folks who seemed to really know their stuff. They came on time, did a good job, were polite and professional and even put up with my bizarre sense of humor. Good guys, all around, good workers, and I am pleased with all the work they have done. On the other hand, they are ALWAYS trying to sell you something else: UV lights to clean the air in my furnace, water softener machines (at several thousand $). I fell for the one year service contract, and it is sort of a good deal; I get "free" furnace and a/c tune-ups every year and 10% off their listed price and all other work. (Note: "free" in the sense that it is really pre-paid.) And a free plumbing inspection every now and then. But all of these "free" visits are really sales calls where they try to sell me all kinds of stuff that I really don't need. Some of it might be nice to have, but on my fixed income they are extravagances I cannot afford. And speaking of affording things, I have done some Internet research and for my area their prices are within normal limits. However, they are at the very high end of what is considered normal limits. Even with my 10% discount, their prices are well above what I can find locally with smaller outfits. The good news is that the service techs do have some wiggle-room when it comes to pricing, and you can talk them down a bit if you are a good negotiator. The bad news is they won't talk price until they come to your house, and if you choose not to go with them, that visit will cost you $60. So, en todo: the people are nice and the service is excellent, but you will pay dearly for it. Peace out. read more

A plumber came to my home for a drain clean in my master bath sink on 2/23. We asked for a quote on replacing a sump pump and we were quoted an austronomical number of $740 for a simple sump pump replacement (my husband learned and replaced all on his own for $135 btw). We refused the sump pump installation as we were disturbed by the quoted price and we also let the plumber know we were not satisifed with the way Service Professionals ran their business. Scott was our repairman at the time, he cleaned our drain, 3 days later we had a massive leak from our master bath shower - so bad that water pooled into our basement drywall ceiling. We called on 2/27 for another plumber thinking it was still a sink issue. A new plumber shows up to our home and proceeds to damage our ceiling by poking a hole into and stating that it needed to be completely ripped out without checking out the actual problem first. Come to find out it was not the sink that had an issue but magically and randomly now it was our shower (pipes are not related at all). Scott seems to be Service Professionals mascot since he is all over their website and we left him completely unattended in our master bath. We get a new plumber, same company, and he told us that we needed a new drain pop-up for another austronomical price of $535. He stated it was rusted again without ever checking it (my husband had replaced the pop-up himself so it was all of 2 months old) We refused to be overcharged and asked for the leak to be resolved since we didn't have the massive leak prior and we had a 30 day guarantee. The new plumber never resolved the issue, we refused his outright LIE about drain pop-up and then he proceeded to try and charge us the service fee of $59 for coming out to our home even though they were literally in my home 4 days prior. We have been members with them for over a year and every single time they came for a repair they tried to sell us a service we didn't need by misdiagnosing our actual issue. read more

I was charged $700 to install two parts that retail for under $100 combined. The tech worked for under an hour. He was a nice guy but I can't help but feel the company he works for ripped me off. I used these guys for a full HVAC unit replacement. Had no problems. They were easy to set up and did the work in the time they said they would. I did find they were a little more expensive than some others but I had no issues with the work itself. It was a pretty average experience. Nothing outstanding, but nothing bad either. Giving them one star is even too much! They were the definition of unprofessional. I was given the time frame of 12-2 and the technician showed up at 4:10. He then immediately tried to sell me on upgrading without diagnosing the problem first. When it was determined that I needed three pounds of freon for our ac, he stated that it would cost me 650.00 for the freon plus 45.50 tax. In addition to that I needed to pay the service call for 95.00. A total of 790.50 for three pounds of freon. At that point, I just paid for the service call and told him that I felt I was being scammed from the beginning. When a friend recommended me to someone else I was charged 200. for the three pounds of freon that I needed which also included the service call. Since then I've also called two other ac repair companies just to get a feel for the going rate and learned that the average cost of freon goes for 55.00 a pound not 210.00 a pound as Service Professionals tried to rip me off for. I wish I had read reviews on here before I selected Service Professionals to install a new furnace and compressor. It took them three days to get the units installed, and over a month to pull the permits. I thought I was finished with dealing with them, but I just failed the electrical inspection with my town! The inspector told me that the compressor was unsafe as it was installed. Called Service Professionals and they can't get someone out to fix the unsafe work until next week. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - We called them in to look at our AC Unit right before the Fourth of July - The thermostat display was not working so I expected that I would need a new one. The service came in the morning, was on time and friendly. He took a look at outside unit which was fine and then went into my condo to take a look at the internals. His diagnosis was that my thermostat shorted out and he also told me I needed a furnace kill switch - which I found a bit strange, saying that it was not safe to change my air filters if I didn't have one installed - which was odd because they were also the company that had put the unit in when I first moved into my condo. The serviceman went to his truck and came back with two thermostats - a Honeywell T4000 and a Honeywell T8000. He proceeded to tell me that the total cost would be 1000.00 for the job depending on which thermostat I went with. He wanted 472.00 for the T4000 and 793.00 for the T8000 and then another 500.00 to install and replace the kill switch. I did a search online for all of the parts - The Honeywell T4000 at Home Depot: 28.00! The Honeywell T8000 at Home Depot 110.00!! The Kill swtich - an 18.00 item I questioned this immediately, and he played the game of 'I need to talk to my boss' - when he got on the phone he said what are comfortable paying. We agreed to 500.00 not knowing the cost of the kill switch at the time. Because it was a holiday weekend and we were already in for the service call, I had them replace everything - which they did in about 15 minutes. The worst part of it all was that I knew I was getting ripped off. After the tech left, we called the manager and got the receptionist. Matt (the manager's name) would not even get on the phone with us and the secretary was extremely rude saying that we would be sent to collections if we tried to stop payment on the service. I want to be clear - I have no problem paying for a service - and even a markup on parts as I know it's a business, you pay for a skill and a convenience however for this tech (who I found out makes a commission on all sales) to try to sell us a part for a markup of over 500% is both sickening and unethical. Bottom line - they were knowledgeable and fixed what I needed - but are in the business of ripping people off with exorbitant prices. Do yourself a favor a stay away from this company. read more

I bought a heat pump 5 years ago and for the last 2 years the ac as stopped working more than 5 times without explanation. Luckily for me it was under warranty. I believe they sold me a defective productive, I paid $6000 and ac never works. I'll probably have to buy another unit with a reputable company since its not worth the repair. read more

They said it would be $89 for the service call and a diagnosis of the problem. When he gave me the estimate, they wanted to charge me an additional $350 to test the system and find what the real problem was. I told him I thought that was what the $89 was for and how can he give an estimate if he didn't know what the problem was... he told me no... they need to run tests of the system and that would be $350. What a rip off. Paid him the $89 service charge fee and told him to leave. Got it fixed the next day by an independent contractor for 1/8th of what they wanted to charge me. "Service Professionals" my ass! These guys once charged my unsuspecting roommate $300 to change two water hoses on the washing machine to the wall! Now, on the coldest night of this winter, and just 25 days after they came to "replace" some "failing" parts on my furnace, I get home to a cool 65-degree temperature throughout my 3-story condo. I called them TWICE within two hours for an emergency visit. The ladies on the phone were absolutely clueless; neither one seemed to even know where they worked; neither could provide an ETA for the technician (one claimed the guy was out on the field and would get the message as soon as he was done). Slept thru the night literally FREEZING. Now, I'm tempted to test their money-back guarantee and have them remove the crap parts they JUST installed 3 weeks ago, refund my purchase amount, cancel my "EPA" (service plan), and drop these frauds for good. Its about 5:30AM as I'm writing this - I have half a mind to blast each one of their four telephone numbers until I get a competent and well-thought out response and resolution. read more

Service Professionals purchased the business of the local plumber that I had used for several years. On Christmas, we developed a main line blockage that caused serious back-up into the bathrooms on our first floor. I called first thing this morning and spoke with their representative at 8:30 AM. I was assured that I would have a service technician at my house today, so I stayed home to wait. I was told that they would call with a 30 minute "heads up" when the technician was coming. At 3:00 P.M., I called back to confirm that I was still getting a technician today. I was assured that I was next on the list. At 4:30, they called back and I was told the technician had been on a single call all day and that they could not assure that he would come today. At this point, they promised that they would put me on the list for first thing in the morning. I told them not to come. I was strung out for 8 hours with nothing to show for it but false promises. I explicitly asked at 8:30 AM whether I was getting service technician today, and was assured that I was. When I called to check again, 6 and 1/2 hours after that first assurance, that promise was confirmed. An hour and half later, I was told that the technician was stuck on his first assignment since first thing in the morning. Of course, I no longer had any confidence that what I was being told was true. Additionally, if by 3 o'clock, the technician didn't know that he wouldn't be timely done after being on the first assignment for 6:30 hours, I didn't have much confidence in his abilities. My prior plumber was always upfront about when one his technicians would arrive at my home, and found a way to service my needs when it was something that needed immediate attention. Guess I am in the market for a new plumber that cares about my business, and won't string me out with false promises when they can't timely meet my needs. Trust in a service professional is key; my experience is that putting my trust in Service Professionals cost me a day out of the office and an additional day in getting my problem fixed. read more

While prompt and friendly, we were completely over charged for Freon, over $700 for 3 lbs of R22 Freon and a general AC service ( at $89). Our regular plumber told us that Freon should cost about $35 per/lb. When we contacted Service Professionals, they refused to give us the break-down of the Freon costs. read more

Had Service Professionals install brand new Heating & Cooling System as well as Hot Water Heater in May. They did good job at installing however the Air Conditioning unit keeps shutting off. The technician came out twice and yet have not been able to fix the issue. Phones calls are answered by answering service where person answering is professional but clueless on when someone will come out to fix the issue! We paid them $12K for this just two months ago and the person on the call dared to ask if I had a maintenance contract with them. I suppose the computer system on their side does not tell them they just installed the system. We relied on expertise of Service Professionals to install our HVAC system and we expect it to work flawlessly and if it doesn't then either fix it for once or replace it immediately. It is not unreasonable to expect adequately staffed emergency service especially when the weather is 97 degrees! The Website says you can rely on 24 hours service 7 days a week - that statement is literally a joke. Service does not mean answering call and leaving customer hanging without realistic ETA and letting customers sweat in hot weather. read more

Total cowboys and absolute ripoff. I had a service agreement with them for a year for my HVAC system but every time they visited they found something that needed to be done at around $1000 cost and I saw no difference in performance. Worse still, I was 8 months pregnant and asked to have the vents cleaned. They told me it could not be done as the fiberglass would be released into the air in the house and tried to scare me into buying a whole new system for $17k ($8k quoted elsewhere). Serious pressure sales, but thankfully I am not that gullible. Got an independent in and there were problems with the system these guys had not even identified, probably so I would keep getting them back. Disgusting behavior. read more

I had an issue with my sewer trap and it caused the toilets in my home to back up. I hired them to take care of it. They sent a tech who was supposed to be a licensed plumber and he said all it needed was a snake to drain out the clog, which he used. However, he did a half ass job and two days later, I had the same problem all over again after paying over $100. Apparently, the tech was either inexperienced or didn't know what he was doing. I had to call them back and they sent out another tech who was more knowledgeable and did a better job, but two trips in 2 days for something as simple as snaking a drain is unacceptable, especially since they boast superior work. This tech was not interested in trouble shooting and recommending total replacement before he even touched the water heater, and to act as if he was helpful, he look at the age of the tank and says oh yeah it is 12 years old. So I asked if could bleed my system since he was there and I was paying a service fee anyway and he tried to charge me $400 to bleed the system but because I had it done before I knew he was overcharging and told him exactly how I felt.. I had a faucet problem, water handle would keep turning and i could never know if the water was hot, cold or would turn on or off. I called these guys and they said the diagnosis is free and if i don;t use them it will cost $60. I agreed. The tech came to the house and did not touch it or tell me what was wrong. He spent 35 minutes going over his pitch book telling me why i should spend $457 for the faucet when i asked a simple question (what is the cost for parts and cost for labor). I was so frustrated i gave him the $60 and asked him to leave. Luckily, a plumber i know came and replaced a broken gasket which cost $6 and took him 10 minutes. i got the job done for $56 vs $457. I purchased two complete HVAC systems,(both furnace and A/C) plus new ductwork from Service Professionals in late February of 2016.The contract included the following: free repair/replacement/and servicing of the equipment for a year post-installation, coverage of related permits and fees, ten year guaranteed replacement/repair of parts and labor for the single stage HVAC system,15 years parts and labor for the dual-stage HVAC system, and two manufacturer's warranties covering the useful lives of the compressors and heat exchangers. I have had several problems with the company's customer service, workmanship, and business practices over the course of the last eight months. The following occurred in chronological order: Within three days of the installation, my tenant reported that his thermostat was displaying an error code, and he could not activate the furnace. I utilized the workmanship guarantee in the contract and had the company come diagnose and fix the problem. Apparently, wires were disconnected somewhere on his system. A few weeks later, I noticed I had not received a copy of the building permits for the installation. It took two months of back-and-forth phone calls between myself, the company, and the municipal building department to get the company to pay for the permits as per contract. I had several further maintenance calls, including a flexible duct that became disconnected from the main trunk to the second floor unit, an unexplained leak around the base of the system, and eventual failure of the a/c to blow cold air. The latter two problems have yet to be resolved after repeated contact with the company, including a face-to-face visit at the Union, NJ office location. I still do not have functional A/C as of this 8/31/16. Last but not least, after repeated requests, the company failed to provide me with the documentation necessary to fulfill application requirements to receive the state energy rebates associated with the efficiency upgrades. read more

Service Professionals installed a Navien tankless water heater in my home a couple of years ago. The installation was very well done and the unit has worked flawlessly ever since. Service Professionals also de-scales the heater once a year. My only complaint concerns the price, which was much higher than what Consumer Reports said a tankless system should cost. read more

Hired them to upgrade from oil to natural gas. After taking off work 3 times only for them to no show each time saying they got "held up at another job" they finally got there to do the work on the 4th try. They left my house a complete mess and their plumbing was TERRIBLE. I had pipes hanging out of the ceiling and even had a pipe blocking my laundry room door from opening because they were too lazy to run the pipes in the ceiling (which they dismantled). Also there were 12 leaks that I found. TWELVE! They wouldn't return calls to come fix the work and I had to hire someone else to do the work before I had significant water damage. 13 months later my hot water wasn't working. I discovered my boiler was full of water and the wiring was fried. Low and behold another slow leak above the unit that I hadn't noticed a few months earlier. When they came out to look at it they pretended they saw no evidence of a leak (it was the most obvious thing I've ever see, mineral build up and evidence of a drip into the unit). Instead they claimed it was because there was a tomato plant near the exhaust (it was several feet away) that was causing the intake suck up exhaust and build up condensation in the unit. In other words it was not their fault so I'd have to pay to fix it. Only when I threatened to take them to court did they change their tune and offer to fix it. I also took off 3 separate days for this repair because the first 2 guys "didn't have the parts they needed." Literally the worst company I have ever dealt with on any level. read more

(Rutherford) Service Professionals out of Union NJ - I called for a quote to replace an existing Tankless Hot Water Heater. No info over the phone so they sent a service tech. The Navien brand they quoted has horrible reviews but the tech insisted it was due to bad installations not the machines ... he said they do other brands. I showed my him existing unit, professionally installed, and was told it was not a good install. He then quoted me verbally $4800-$5600 for a new Navien HWH replacement. I told him Naviens were $1000.00 on line and about $1000.00 to install .. just as a reference. After saying no thanks, he tried to bill me a $60.00 service tech fee. I said that a fee was never discussed as this was a sales call not a service call. He actually stood in my kitchen and played back the entire phone conversation on his ipad / tablet ... and I was correct no mention of any cost. Then he wanted me to sign a service tech agreement on his tablet which I refused. I told him his company is ripping people off ... and he left. I have not had my town inspect the work that was done on the conversion from oil heat to gas heat by Service Professionals yet so I can't comment on the quality of the work. I will comment that this job was done on June 11, 2018 and we are having trouble getting through the permit process. Service Professionals said that they submitted the permit 2 times already but my town said they never received a submission. I'm not sure which is true but Service Professionals finally delivered the permit forms by hand to my town and I'm currently waiting for the process to be completed so I can have my inspection done. I did have an incident where some Oil was leaked into my basement during the conversion process. Service Professionals did have it cleaned up by a qualified company. Hopefully the inspection goes well. Also the installation techs played loud music and were verbally loud in the basement. read more

If you want to be charged an arm and a leg this is the company for you. Had a small pin hole leak in a pipe in the basement. I called Service Professional and they sent someone the same day. I advised them if we were going to be charged additional for same day service I rather wait because it wasn't that serious for same day service. I was told that the service man would call 30 minutes prior to arriving. Received the call about 30 minutes later advising the service man was in route and would be at my house in 20 minutes. 10 minutes later service man arrived. So far everything going smooth... He looks at the leak and comes up with this outrageous quote of approx $600... Just like that... Off the top of his head. Didn't look at his iPad or make a phone call to dispatch... Just quoted it off the top of his head. Then he starts to sell the service and company. Saying that he would check for additional leaks which is possible. Or we can call a handy man but the work won't be as good and they want check for other leaks, and so forth... We'll we finally agreed to use them. Here we are thinking he's going to be working for about an hour or more on the pipe based on what he said the issue was. Low and behold he was done in about 15 - 30 minutes! Some intense job (me being sarcastic) huh?!? He spent a total of less than an hour at our home. Most of the time was selling us their services and going out to the truck to get his tools. When I received the invoice I was expecting some type of breakdown of charges. But the invoice was a one line of the total charge. No itemize charges. I called the following day to complain about the outrageous amount without a breakdown of charges. Customer service strayed reciting that he was at my house for two hours! I lost it! I had proof that he at my house less than an hour. The record on my phone when he called saying he was outside and the time at which he sent me a copy of the invoice. I'm getting made all over again. I asked to speak with a manager... who wanted to only offer me $50 off the bill. I'm like really?!? What I want is itemized bill and the tariff so I can see if I was being fairly billed. Still haven't see any of it. I feel taken advantage of because I'm a woman and don't know much about plumbing but I do understand tariffs and hourly rates. One thing is for sure...
