We called them to replace a gas valve on a water heater as part of a manufacture's warranty. They looked at the 8 year old water heater and only wanted to replace the entire water heater. They would not let the manufacture send them the part and they would not price the job by parts and labor and they did not want to simply replace the faulty gas valve even after pricing the job at $600. BUT they charged us a service fee for the visit because we didn't use them to replace a water heater under warranty!!!!! Booked an HVAC inspection for home I'm purchasing. They put me on the schedule but oddly requested approval from the current homeowner. It seemed odd, but I worked to get it. Was informed by the seller's agent that a "half-assed" and unprofessional email came through with no contact info asking for some vague approval. I called the company and left a message. No one calls me back for day. I called again thinking something must have been lost in translation. Now they tell me that they don't even do HVAC inspections, and can't help me. Clearly they don't know what they are doing, so I asked for them to just cancel the appointment entirely. While waiting for the representative to cancel my appointment, the line went silent (but no dead) and no one returned. I was quoted $2100 to put a shower membrane down and redo the drain. When I refused the plumber called his boss who reduced the price to $1800. I told them that no way will I pay that amount. After the plumber left I called a master plumber from Morristown and he came out and did the entire job in one hour and charged me $250 which included the membrane and a new drain. So, I was quoted to fix my heater in the amount of $1490. Because my house was freezing and I had no choice I decided to write them a check for deposit so they could fix it tomorrow. The guy gave me a whole story about how my equipment was expensive to fix, yada yada. Long story short, I had the feeling something was fishy and decided to cancel the order. They said they would cut me a check after they take out the the $159 "emergency" work call fee about a week and a half later. After calling another company, the guy quickly told me that there was NOTHING wrong with my system (that happens to be 5 years old). It was because PSEG registered my meter under the wrong address and cut it off because no one paid the bill. I think our seviceman did a good job until he quoted $671.00 to replace the hard start kit. l looked up the price of part on google and found that if he replaced the part he took out it would cost $29. The one he wanted to put in cost $3.00. Installation was hook up two wires and put the cover back on. The original bill for the tune up service was $77. The total with the part replacement was $800.83. We showed the technician the part cost online and offered $400.00 cash for the entire job, which we thought was more than fair, considering what we caught them trying to do. His supervisor declined our offer. We paid the advertised tune up cost and called sombody else to replace the part he removed. OH, THEY ALSO RECOMENDED A UV GERM KILLING SYSTEM FOR $700.00. A technician was dispatched to help us with the furnace. He suggested that the thermostat needed to be changed. We accepted and changed it, but we still didn't have heat. He suggested that we work on the chimney, which we did, but this didn't fix the problem. We called back and explained the situation. They claimed that when the technician left we had heat. I wish we had read reviews on this company before calling them. I, as other reviewers have indicated, would not even give one star if it were an option. This is going to be a long complaint. If you don't have the time to read the whole thing...skip right to the end, but DO READ!! They're technician, Scott, came out early evening. Our unit was only installed a year and a half ago. He was concerned that it hadn't been "descaled" which he said should be done once a year. He showed me the air intake screen which was dirty and in need of cleaning. He said he couldn't find the blockage in the intake (the vent pipes do turn minimally but the run is under 10 foot!). I asked him if he had snaked the pipe and he said "with a drain snake?" He gauffed that "you can't use a drain snake for vents." He called me down to show me some water leaking inside the unit and some buildup on the heat exchanger. He said that it was a major problem and I asked if it would be covered by warranty and he said probably not since the unit was never serviced or descaled. He told me the company honor warranty work since the unit was over a year old and had not been descaled. Scott indicated the Navien offices were closed since it was after 6:00 PM but there's no way they would approve a claim on the unit. I told him he should wait to discuss the issues with my husband because I knew he'd have questions for him. After my husband came home and he went over everything including the price of the new unit. Which Scott indicated as necessary since the work involved with replacing the heat exchanger was just as much as a installing a new unit. And wait for the price...$5600.00!! I was appalled. A year and half ago the unit was only $2500.00. That's more than double?! Reluctantly, we gave him a check for $2600.00 and they were to come the following day with a new unit. We really just wanted a hot shower...a $3000.00 hot shower? Sounds more like a hosing. Ohhh and he left us with no hot water!! The next morning I called a plumber friend and told him the story. He said "are you nuts??" H called the supply house he deals with and could he could get the same unit that morning for $1424.00. I immediately said do it! We promptly cancelled our install with Service Professionals. When Peter, of PKG Plumbing, came to the house he immediately got a feeling like this was a scam. He saw no water on the exterior of the unit but did see a few drops inside. I told him that the unit wasn't covered under warranty since it was over a year old...to which he responded that they have a 5 year warranty, not 1 year as Service Professionals had said. I told him that they Service Professionals hadn't called since the Navien office is only open until 6:00 PM...to which he responded that were open until 11:00 PM. Shankin this head, he the company regarding a warranty and was told by Navien that a claim had already been placed and they were just waiting for pictures of the unit to complete the claim. So Peter took pictures to complete the claim. The company is sending out a new heat exchanger...incredible that a new unit isn't needed as Service Professionals indicated. And Peter cleared the error and got my hot water working again until the new unit comes in 2 days! Hats off to an honest plumber. One that I should have called from the start. I put a stop payment on my check and called the company to tell them my reason. I asked theme about the claim which Navien had received, to which the Service Manager indicated they "do not perform warranty work." She was sure it hadn't been them who called in a claim on the unit. IMPOSSIBLE! We've never had an issue with the unit and Service Professionals was the first and only people to look at it. LIARS!! I explained that the conduct used for this service call is fraudulent and criminal. I told her that I stopped payment on the check and I will it pay them for the initial service call. I further explained that if they pursued any actions of claim against me for the service call fee I would contact the Attorney Generals Office and I would contact the NJ Licensing Board and go after their Master Plumbers license. She was "apologetic that they couldn't meet my expectations" and went on a scripted dialogue about how long the company was in business and I could care less about your script. The fact of the matter is...they would have charged me $5600.00 to replace a $1500.00 water heater at best with AND benefited from the claim they placed on the warranty with a new heat exchanger they would have sold to someone else for a ridiculous price. I feel sorry for anyone who has used them and has been ripped off by them or for anyone who may end up using them because of Google ads popping them up first under their search engine. They prey on people in need. This company and their employees are disgusting, unethical and they have no morals about committing acts of fraud. read more

I had a horrible experience with Service professionals. My furnace had stopped working on one of the coldest days of the year of course. Since I had some previous experience with service professionals, as they had already fixed my motor and motherboard for an exorbitant price, I decided against my better judgement to call them again. The service professional that arrived said I had a crack in my heat exchanger and said my furnace needed to be replaced immediately. This professional assessment was done solely on visual inspection, which apparently is the industry standard. I had two other independent HVAC experts with a combined 45 yr experience come and they couldn't find this alleged crack. Also the price I was quoted was exorbitant at about $9,800 for a new furnace and condenser unit!!! I was in dire straits and actually agreed to this. Thank god I came to my senses before any work was done. The other contractors fired up my furnace after cleaning a sensor and looking for any CO leak. Now we are toasty warm again. In conclusion, NEVER call these robbers. They prey on innocent people like you and me! read more

Whole house water filter was stuck and requested a cut and replace with straight pipe until unit could be replaced within a week. Cut and soldered pipe instead of using sharkbite for temporary fix, costing me much more ($500) - was at the house for one hour. Over priced, and kept trying to sell me on a $5,000 system for water softening, filtration and carbon filtration, AFTER I told him I had a water softener and a reverse osmosis system already installed. Overpriced for the level of service. Had two different techs come out for a routine plumbing issue and neither knew how to fix it but overcharged me for their visit. Very "commercial" pricing model, yes they are transparent in prices but no they are not fair prices. Way cheaper companies who can provide better service. After my wife and I both felt uncomfortable proceeding with this company (two different techs were equally as unappealing), we called K-Hoeler Plumbing. Keith was extremely professional, gave us guidance on how to proceed, and we've now used Keith (and Carl) on over three big jobs (sump pump, toilet, re-piping main line) for very reasonable prices (along with efficient service, timely, and friendly). After Thanksgiving, our kitchen sink drain had a clog that could not be fixed using Drano, Zepp, vinegar/baking soda/salt, or Instant Power liquid solutions. I attempted to snake the drain myself, but didn't get the wire down more than 3 feet. I searched through our previous plumbing service providers including Rotorooter, but they had expensive service call fees and not available until the next day. Service Professionals was the most reasonably priced and were able to come out the soonest. Service tech was on time and did the job neatly and completely. Very happy I found them and to have a realiable plumber service to call if there is a problem in the future. read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I used them to install a new furnace in 2001. In about 2006 the furnace stopped working. Through my contract with PSE&G I had a tech come out. He said the furnace needed to be replaced. Service Professionals(SP) told me that even though the furnace was less than 6 years old the warrantee was void because PSE&G had "looked" at it. Rich convinced me to have SP replace it by promising to give me back a rebate - which I never saw. So now, in 2015 I came home to no heat on Tuesday night. I called them immediately and the tech was at my house in about an hour. He said that he needed to get a "smart valve", at the cost of nearly $1000, and he would return Wednesday - the next morning to install it and suggested that I call the office in the morning to discuss my warrantee. First thing Wednesday morning I call the office and am told that the warrantee is void because I have not had it serviced every year. In the mean time I am without heat and am waiting for the tech to come to my house. Mid afternoon I call the office and I am told that the part needs to come from New Hampshire and they are paying to overnight it. Can not promise what time but will have it on Thursday for sure! I called PSE&G - thankfully still have my service contract with them. They arrive on Thursday morning at 8 am - fixes it without a "smart valve". Tells me there really is no service needed on my furnace. AND THERE IS NO CHARGE!!!!! It is now noon on Friday. I have not heard from them since Wednesday. If I waited for them, I would probably have burst pipes in my house!!!! read more

I was very happy with my experience with Ron, the service technician. We had our A/C systems checked and tuned up. He was professional, and very detailed. He took pictures to show us the issues that we had. He was never pushy, and was honest in letting us know that repairs would be costly, and it would be better just to replace our (very) old system. While he was checking on the unit in the attic, he also let us know about other issues he noticed that did not have anything to do with the A/C. We would definitely hire him again. read more

Placing in the central air took quit some time. I was okay with it. End result, the vent in the dining room does not function well. It nearly cools the room. So I am kind of disappointed. And I have no window in dining room to add a window air conditioner. I just wish the vent that was placed in dining room was bigger. Definitely wish I can give this joke of a 'business' a negative rating. Get ready for a nice late night read. First the issue I called them for: Our heating system after about 20 minutes or so of turning on blows out cool air throughout the home. The first technician who came over(Matt idk his last name) was confident enough to say 'Oh got it! You just need a new thermostat RED FLAG #1' ok cool so I dished out a cool $350 to replace even though he tried hard af to get me the buy the more expensive one. Figured $350 would fix the problem. It didn't. Called them again and this time, he came with the Service Professionals veteran Mike(claims to have 35 years of experience and was gloating to my dad on the phone about his credentials lol RED FLAG #2). Told me and my dad about how our furnace was oversized, too high of a BTU, our roof will get messed up, kids will die if they come into our home(may have exaggerated this), the house could potentially catch on fire and so on. With the kind of jargon they use, I was convinced I needed to replace my entire unit so they then sent an overly confident 'comfort advisor' to help me choose the best option. LOL 'choose the best option' The 'comfort advisor', Eric, didn't even bother looking at the unit and I read right thru him but I continued playing dumb because I was bored and wanted to see just exactly how much idiot he thought I was(I'm indian so maybe that's why?) but anyways like i said he stood there again gloating like veteran Mike about he's done thousands of times yata yata and finally gave me an awesome estimate of $8 - $12k to replace the unit. Oh, RED FLAG #3 - employees here work off of commission so I got why I was sucked into buying the thermostat. Anyways I held onto that estimate because I had a gut feeling the issue wasn't the entire unit. Called another company two hours later. BOOM - just the circuit board needed to be replaced and some cleaning of the pipes and my total was - $875. The guy we called was literally laughing his a$$ off from what I was telling him about Service 'Professionals' We didn't care much about spending the money if it came down to it but more pissed off at how a company decided to take a minority family to be idiots. This company extorted and swindled my widowed mother over $2,500 and threatened to put a lien on her home if she didn't "pay up." First of all, let me just say that these people, specifically Matt the 'manager', are some of the most dishonest, bullies in the home improvement industry. I implore you to read on as well as other reviews so you know what you are getting yourself into with these con-men. In late February, my mother called them to work on her boiler system. They came out and performed approximately two hours of work and changed three parts and billed her $1500. This seemed a bit high of course, but how was she to know? Then less than 3 days later the boiler was still not functioning correctly as the work they performed had not resolved the issue. They sent someone back out (at cost, mind you) to fix it, and replaced two more parts, two more hours of work, and a bill for approximately $1000. Again, a bit high, but what is a widowed single mother supposed to know about pricing out this sort of thing? The best part was this second visit still did not resolve the issue. Given there was no way she would call them in for a third time, she had a different plumber come out, who upon analyzing the issue realized it was a pressurization problem. A few turns of some wrenches later and it was fixed, and has remained so for months now. When we showed the plumber the Professional Services bill, he was shocked and could not believe what we were charged. He said all in all, the total for both bills ($2500) should have been only around $600! So I do not know which is worse, the fact that "Service Professionals" (joke of a name) plumbers are incompetent or to send out criminals who try to upsell, overcharge and extort money from people who do not know any better. Either way, there is absolutely nothing which speaks well of this company. Following all this, we wrote a detailed letter directly to Professional Services explaining our dissatisfaction especially given they did not resolve the boiler issue. We also mentioned we were not looking to dispute the full amount and were willing to pay for the parts and labor incurred but at an agreed fair price versus what we were charged and would appreciate their looking into it and reconsider what we were initially billed. We also made them aware that we were advised to contact our bank to request a dispute and to place payment on hold in hopes that we could come up with a fair agreement prior to that actually happening. We were completely transparent. We unfortunately never heard back or received a response from them so inevitably the bank went ahead and activated the dispute at the end of the month which then finally brought it to their attention. My mom received a call from Allison, the "customer service manager" on a Friday late afternoon. Her message stated that they were unaware of our dissatisfaction up until that point and unless they didn't hear back from us in 48 hours, they would place a lien on our home. They finally connected on Monday which was virtually useless, though Allison seemed to be trying her best. Do not be fooled though, she is just there to answer the phones and be someone to vent to, she apparently holds no power to rectify anything and is meant to only mitigate issues. After this conversation we received a call from Matt who was apparently in charge to some degree. This was an incredibly negative conversation and we were basically told to "pay up" and were made to feel we had no choice in the matter, even after offering to pay them a fairer price and not dispute the entire charge. So please, unless you want to overpay grossly, be bullied, and be threatened with liens, avoid these crooks at all cost. They are disreputable and dishonest in their dealings. read more

She was up sold to the amount of OVER $6000.00. $475.00 for a feed pipe to her dishwasher. Dishwasher valve, $360.00, Replace a bathroom sink trap $346.00. And many other over charged items. I used service professionals for relining my sewer pipe, fixing my plumbing and servicing my a/c. I can say they respond fairly well to service calls. They are courteous and professional. STAY AWAY! Absolutely awful experience. A botched HVAC system replacement coupled with the worse customer service. If I could give them less than 1 star I would. Service Professionals replaced my dual-zone AC system in my home a little over two years ago (April 2017). Since that time we have had Service Professionals out to our home no less than 2 dozen times for various issues and breakdowns with the system. I have spent thousands of dollars (and counting) on repairs, tune-ups and additional servicing plans on what I was assured was going to be a top of the line dehumidifying HVAC system that would save us money and provide comfort. My experience has been the exact opposite. The equipment is brand new however there was apparently something done wrong during installation. We have yet to have consistent service out of our system and the issues go from one thing to the next -- our electrical system (wrong as confirmed by two different electricians), dirty compressor, etc. and frankly my family is exhausted. You get a different answer from each technician and the customer service is extremely circular and unhelpful. This is not what anyone should have to endure, especially after the amount of money we invested into what was supposed to provide consistency and peace of mind during the hot summer months. I want to save any other customers the frustration and aggravation - TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!! read more

We were eagerly waiting for the folks to install but the owner called in the last minute and mentioned they cant go ahead with the installation and quoted higher. They cancelled on the installation and we had to stay without heat till we got another contractor. STAY AWAY from these unprofessionals!! BEWARE!! We called to have an outdoor spigot replaced. The repairman came, spent 5 minutes looking at the spigot and gave an estimate of $680. Then he charged us $62.91 for the estimate! We were never told there would be a charge for the estimate, or we would not have asked them to come. I would suggest another business. I am a former Stacey Electric customer. This company that took over for their customer base does not respect or treat all customers fairly. They canceled my appointment after requiring me to wait two weeks and then treated me like I was being unreasonable for not opting to prioritize someone else's malfunctioning air conditioning system over my own. I had to wait two weeks for an appointment. Others just had to wait for June to be hot in order to skip to the front of the line because no one could possibly have predicted hot weather in late June. People make plans around service appointments. They take days off from work, etc. In my case they drive two hours at the crack of dawn to make it back on time for their previously confirmed appointment to be told they don't qualify for an appointment they booked two weeks in advance. This company arbitrarily choosing to tell someone their scheduled appt was less important than somone's poor planning is a horribly unprofessional business model. read more

Service Professionals charged me $96 for a service call, did nothing, said the problem with my boiler had to do with the installation, until I reminded them they installed it and they changed their story. (Red flag #1) They then gave me 2 estimate options of approximately $500 for temporary fix or $1100 for a permanent fix (red flag #2 - because who offers to do a job halfway?). Keep in mind my boiler was working but had an intermittent leak BEFORE they showed up. After they left, it ceased to function completely. (Red flag #3) When we had an uncle look at it, he determined it could be fixed easily with a $25 part, and saw that the ignitor was detached which caused it to stop functioning completely. Perhaps they forgot to reconnect that part after their inspection??? (Or perhaps red flag #4) Do not trust this company umless you have money you want to waste. read more

Had an experience with this company twice regarding HVAC issues at my house. First, in spring 2018, when I called them to check my ductwork (flex) and furnace to see if there was a leak or any other issue to correct as half of my house does not get any air pressure or heat. The tech guy came in and just told me that the issue was the way it has been installed as a flex and not a metal duct, there is nothing that he could do. Suggested to have a comfort advisor come in to estimate and change the entire furnace. Instead of repair/ flush/ clean the ductwork. Second instance in summer 2018, My condenser went bad and I had a repair estimate from PSEG of what the issue was (Condenser fan motor went bad, capacitor burn out). When I called in service professionals tech and told him what I heard from PSEG, he just gave me a invoice for the repair estimate of those parts and did not bother enough to look into the equipment of what else could be wrong. Oh by the way, for Condenser fan motor, blade, and capacitor I got a quote of $1382.69; whereas I ordered the parts, changed all those myself and spent $135.50 (ebay, supplyhouse, and searspartsdirect); They give you ridiculos quote of 10 times more. This is not going to earn them business. You need to fair to the customer. And also, even after changing all these parts, my A/c was not operable as I was low on Freon (R-22). The tech guy who came in, throw an invoice at my face and charged me a service tech call-in fee did not ever check the refrigerant level and tell me that I was low on freon. If I was told about it in the first place, I would not have bothered to repair the unit and thought of replacing the entire unit as it was old buddy! This company installed my air conditioner in the fall of 2013. It has already stopped running twice. When it was sold to me, I was told they had 24/7 emergency service. However, if you actually call on a weekend or evening, you never get a call back from them until the next working day. This most recent breakdown, I called at midnight. When I got the call back finally at 7:30 in the morning, I was told the call came in after midnight and the technician was asleep. A technician arrived finally at 4:15 in the afternoon and assured me the problem was due to an over sensitive moisture sensor. By 10:15 that evening, the air conditioner was not working again and the pan under the unit was full of water. Two hours later, no response from a technician. I will be looking for a new service company tomorrow. Using Service Professionals is looking like a very expensive bad decision. read more

The service men that came to the house were very nice and friendly. Full of knowledge and well mannered. I believe they are trained to also be sellers along with being the HVAC specialist. I do believe the goal for the any business is to make money. But I was annoyed the two times that this company did come out, they always kept pushing the upselling. I had a water heater problem, the guy came and the estimate was over 4 grand. I understand I have two water heaters but only one broke. So why would I replace both? I called also because I found a coupon online to have my air conditioners serviced. Each unit would cost $80, and I have 3 units. Once the guy left, he pretty much upselled me to spending close to $700. He was extremely nice and professional but the constant upselling was a little extreme. Needed four days to get to my house to fix a simple leaking faucet in the bathroom. Had to reschedule once because tech was unable to get here within the appointment window. Prices were exorbitant and technician gave outlandish estimates for how long the work would take. Turns out he did the job in a fraction of the time he said. Tech supposedly fixed the faucet but a few hours later when I tried to use it, it started leaking again. Avoid this company! read more

I used Service Professionals twice for wastepipe work. I have a standard 4" wastepipe which leads to a septic tank, which is 18 feet from the house. The pipe runs 36" underground. Pretty standard stuff. The pipe developed a belly close to the house. It's ABS, and code now specifies PVC because it's more rigid. I had Ron come out to snake my line, and he did so flawlessly, for $169, which is not an unreasonable price. I was very satisfied with Ron, so I called to arrange to have the line dug up and replaced. Yesterday, James came out to inspect the line with a camera. Sure enough, there's a belly in the line, and it's almost completely blocked. Fortunately, it's a wastewater line, and not an artery leading from my heart, which are all in excellent shape. I had an estimate from another contractor of $1150; $50 for camera work, and $1100 to repair the line. James told me that the estimate I got was really lowball, and the guy would do sloppy work. He said he had to "call the boss," then claimed the "boss" texted back a price of $5,269, almost five times as much as the first contractor quoted. In fairness, he said he'd replace the entire 18' line with PVC 4" pipe. I said I wanted a second opinion. This guy really, really tried to high-pressure me into taking his deal, saying the other fellow wouldn't do the job right; I'd need to have my front yard dug up again, etc. He also said that an excavator costs $2,000 a day. We have a place right near us that rents them out, and the price for a small one, which is all we need, is like $250 a day. A huge backhoe is $395. I sent the guy on his way, and called one of the best septic tank cleaning guys in our area, who recommended a local fellow. He was finishing a job near my house, and came over to check it out within two hours. He said the job would cost around $1,500, which is higher than the first guy, but this would be to replace the line, not just remove the "belly" and replace those four feet. Thus, my very satisfactory experience with Ron was negated by an unsatisfactory one with James. I would not recommend this company. read more

Another month, another emergency plumbing job. This one started out as a leak from the kitchen sink and snowballed into something else altogether. Multiple lengths of pipe had to be accessed and repaired/replaced/power scrubbed, which gets worse when realizing where all that pipe snakes through. The dishwasher, exterior siding, basement ceiling, basement wall, and basement cement floor all had to be removed. Considering the house was built in 1939, I was overwhelmed by the scope of work required, but not shocked. I was under a fair amount of time pressure, and Ron A. from Service Professionals was able to get all the work done in an amazingly short time. The leak was discovered on a Monday, he showed up within a couple hours to assess the situation, and everything was done by Friday afternoon. He kept me up to date along the way and sent numerous photos of the damaged pipe while I was at work. Every work day ended with a follow up phone call, and Ron patiently answered all my questions until I was satisfied. I've dealt with plenty of home repair people; the last guy couldn't stop talking down to me as if I were his child and he was doing me some huge favor, in between drags of his cigarette. My experiences with Service Professionals have always been the opposite. Everything truly was done in a courteous and professional manner, from the receptionist to the technician that showed up in my home. My last comment would be on pricing. In an emergency situation (which this was), there isn't enough time to get five estimates. Was it cheap? No. Did a ton of work have to be done? Yes. Could I have gotten everything done for less? I have no idea. Was it properly diagnosed and thoroughly addressed, all in a quick and professional manner? Absolutely. I would use them again in a heartbeat, especially in an emergency.
