One of my tenants had an overflow of sewage in her bath tub and it overflowed onto the floor and out into the living room. I called ServiceMaster and they came and cleaned the unit. I notified my insurance and they talked with them regarding the damage. I then get a contract for me to sign. Now, at this point I have not gotten any other contract. The contract was for $16,559.64. So I ask them if this contract is for the whole project for the apartment unit. I get an answer that it is. I then find out from them once I signed the contract and make a 50% payment that it is only for the "repair" part of the work and that there is another payment due for the "cleaning" part of the job. They did not send me any contract for the cleaning part of the job, only the "repair" part of the job. So I asked them why they did not send me the cleaning part and only the repair part and why they separated it into two different contracts? They could not provide a clear answer. So now on top of the $16,559.64, they want to charge me an additional $12,150.84 for the "cleaning" part of the apartment unit. So the total charge would be $28,710.48 for cleaning and repairing the unit. Had I known that they would charge me by not giving me one contract to sign from the beginning and present two separate contracts, the first one after signing the second one, I would not have used their service. That is misleading when I specifically asked them if that contract was for the total job of the unit. So in my good conscience, I would not recommend this company to anyone interested in this kind of service. read more

My neighbor had a fire which resulted in smoke damage. They came in stating they would do all these wonderful things to make my home complete. Well that was so far from reality...they only cleaned on the surface at a minimal and broke a lot of items. I had to call them to reclean multiple areas and finally told them to stop as not only had a lost so much I am now having to hire contractors and buy new products to rebuild my home I which that was further destroyed by them all at that cost of over $20k. Unfortunately earlier this summer we had to use a water mitigation company due to a sewer-related water leak in our basement. Fortunately, though, HomeServe fixed the plumbing issue and my insurance company was on top of the water damage! Allstate works with Servicemaster, apparently. So while I was hesitant to use whatever insurance was sending me, Servicemaster was excellent every step of the way. The office staff is seriously super. They were able to answer and reassure any question I had involving work and the insurance. The managers clearly want to help your problem be resolved and quickly, and the workers are polite and in and out pretty quickly while doing a thorough job. My job was not a huge nor a complicated one, and I did not have a hand in the payment since insurance stepped in, but I would definitely trust them for water mitigation needs should I ever need the services again. read more

i had flooding in my house on two levels. Insurance referred me to ServiceMaster and I'm grateful for the expert work they provided. My flooring company said they saved my hard wood floor on upper level, no repairs were needed after abatement. My floor on lower level was destroyed but technician was able to predict and advise me on next steps that were needed. That feedback allowed me to start lining up the repair work to follow. ServiceMaster did the water abatement and continued with moisture tests, several days, until property was dry enough to complete the job. Staff were professional and also able to answer all my questions. An outstanding job! I recommend them without reservations. read more

Working for this company is a complete nightmare. The managers think they own you, and does not respect your work/life balance. When they call you, you must be available 24hours a day, 7 days a week, even if you are not on call. They expect employees to work overtime, and everyday to ensure that the job is done, but you are not allowed to be off on the weekends. When manager mess up on jobs, they do not take responsibility and try to blame the workers for their error. They will steal your equipment, and claim you 'lost it' and charge you for it, and give the same equipment to a next employee. The work is physically demanding and the management does not care. They will not pay you fairly. I do not recommend this company to anyone at all. read more

Service Master of Baltimore has billed me for services not provided and during times that are inaccurate. My security cameras prove they were not there after hours at all. My cameras also show that they were not there on a day that they said they were present. My bill is extremely over priced and they are unwilling to reduce the bill to the industry standard. I highly suggest that you use a different company for your mold remediation needs. I have contacted one in Pasadena MD that is at least 2/3 the cost of Service Master with 2X the customer service and satisfaction. read more

Awesome company! I recently moved out of my apartment where I've lived for two years. I have a cat that unfortunately used the entire apartment as her litter box as well as her place to throw up her food/hairballs. I was concerned about getting my security deposit back, and no matter how diligent I was with cleaning after the best I could, my apt smelled horrible. Servicemaster came in with their equipment and cleaned the carpet to where it looked and smelled like new. Bottom line is that I got my full deposit back and I truly owe this to Servicemaster. The entire staff is very friendly and they know their business. If you need this and other types of restorative work done, absolutely call them and no one else! read more

Service Master is Horrible do not allow them to do anything in your home. We had. Fire we used them in the Good neighbor network well let's just say they dropped the ball. In packing out the house they did not remove all the trash they only left it for two weeks, and when coming to the house we discovered we has a mouse problem because of it, well after complaining and a Manager having to see if his guys were lying to him the trash was removed. Well then I was contacted over and over about getting paid when in fact the house is not clean and I'm in here cleaning myself because once again they dropped the ball. Well upon cleaning I noticed that they took my Grandmothers two Jewelry boxes and just threw them in a box and because one of the boxes are cracked in half. History and memories can't be replaced and they just didn't care with my belongings. I'm scared to see how my other property will be returned. Just don't use Service Master!! read more

WATCH OUT for this company. They write contracts like engineering diagrams to allow themselves to say certain work was NOT included after the general task is done. They maintain a shark legal team and if you threaten to withhold payment until they correct missing items or undone tasks, they take you to court !!! We had a sprinkler pipe burst in February and they cam out quickly and did a good job with the water mitigation. They boxed all our things and got to work quickly. They did however scratch a marble bathroom threshold with one of their dehumidifiers. I also had a lot of trouble finding a company that would repair the broken sprinkler pipe since most companies only do commercial jobs but Service master was able to give me a referral. I would recommend them for water mitigation but we did not use them for the repair. Their estimator for the repair would take as long as 7 days to respond to our concerns about the estimate and would often dismiss the concerns we presented. We would have to e-mail and then also call and then e-mail again to get a response. Then suddenly there was a month long wait list for the repair (after a month of going back and forth on the estimate) and this whole time we were walking around on the subfloor with the old staples from the carpet pad sticking out. read more
