I would not recommend coming here for any type of rug cleaning service. I called ahead of time and asked twice what the cost would be to clean a 5x6 rug. I was quoted a little less than $60. The expectation was also set that I could pick up the rug the following day of drop off. I drive 30 minutes and get there to find out "they have a lot of rugs" and that I can pick it up a week from now. Strange that they got a huge surplus of rugs within a few hours of me asking. The guy tries selling me on a rug pad for $75. While he's selling me on this I go on Amazon and find the same one for $18. I tell him I'm going to pass and he made it sound like I was silly for not taking his offer. I pick up rug a week later, check out my bill and see I'm charged for $144. I call and ask how and to break down the price. Everything that was quoted to me was wrong. I even called a second time after appointment to get quote and it was the same price. Set expectations with your customers, double the quote is not the business model you should be going for. read more

In January 2022, we had a fire that affected 9 of 21 condo units, to varying degrees, including 5 gut-rehab units, and 4 of 7 halls and stairways. ServiceMaster, along with other companies, appeared and asked if it could help us, first in securing the premises and then, to repair the damage. The conversation was very professional and not forceful. Condo board contacted our insurance company, Statefarm, who said it has worked with ServiceMaster various times. We selected ServiceMaster and have been more than pleased with the work. From the moment Neil and Fernando accepted the work, they and their entire team provided professional, yet personalized service. The office was in touch via emails and phone calls. They understood the damage and what it would take to restore the condo. They asked questions, offered options, which allowed the board - and owners for their units - to make informed decisions. The board and owners had requests that were just about always granted, unless they involved a safety concern or a city ordinance. In April 2023, the City issued permits! The restoration was monumental. Not everything was always 100% smooth; it's expected, as working in a building where just over half the owners are still there, some old pipes and other concerns required extra attention, but ServiceMaster was very proactive in speaking with the board and individual owners to make things as easy as possible, to immediately mitigate any situation and to be as non-intrusive as possible. Workers were on site early mornings to late evenings and, often, on weekends, and were always respectful and polite. It's April 2024 and the work is complete, owners have returned to beautifully restored units, the affected common area throughout has been restored, with additional work having been completed at the board's request, at the condo's cost. We hired Service Master to clean up after the tornado hit us they did a decent job, but didn't tarp the roof they just put plastic, it later rained cause water damage in the unit. I was told they will get back to me with an estimate on the roof and they never did. I kept calling the gentlemen I was dealing with he answered once and said he would email me an estimate i waited three weeks and I never received the estimate. I thought they were working with my insurance company directly to find out they were not. I called the company and spoke to a woman who said she would check with the project manager and call me back she ends up sending me a email basically denying to take our job. Last week I had a fire in my home, it was about 4:00 am in the morning, in less than 20 minutes I had several board-up companies outside. Getting my kids and dogs out of the house was my priority, but looked like these companies could care less, they wanted my business. The fire department put out the fire, it was a big fire, my home is not livable at the moment, we lost everything. I picked a board up company and they boarded the windows and doors. They tried to get my business for the rest of the work inside the home but the Fire Department advised me not to sign anything until I spoke with my insurance company. There were so many public adjusters outside fighting for me to sign on, it was scary. I went to my parents house, called my insurance company and they recommended ServiceMaster by Zaba, within 5 minutes I received a call from Brittney at the office, she had a crew arrive onsite in less than 30 minutes. When i showed up to the my house i could not get out of the car, there were a bunch of public adjusters waiting for me, they were ghetto and yelling at each other, I had to call the police. I called the Service Master manager which I was able to identify based on their yellow trucks. He walked over to my car and we walked to the house, i could not believe how unprofessional the public adjusters were, they were yelling ignorant comments. I dont what makes them think anyone would want to do business with them. One of the Public Adjusters walked into my home and bluntly told me, he can rebuild my home to be my dream home and put money in my pocket! I was so mad, I kicked him out. I was impressed at how professional ServiceMaster by Zaba was. They kept their cool throughout the process and were never disrespectful to any of those jerks, they focused on me and my home and asked how my family was. I had smoke, soot and water damage everywhere, of course at this point nothing was salvageable. The adjuster arrived while we were there, we spent about 3 hours going over the work that needed to take place and the expectations. I am very happy and blessed to have been recommended ServiceMaster by Zaba, the process so far has been easy and they are handling all the communication with my insurance company. Neil, Joseph, Alecia and the rest of the team and office staff have been amazing. I hope no one experiences a fire, they are devastating and sometimes fatal, but they are not avoidable. Please make a wise decision, be aware of signing with a public adjuster, speak with your insurance company first. I bought a house in January that was built in the early 1900's so everything in it was old. The cabinets, appliances, electrical plumbing etc. Needles to say something was bound to happen. My sump pump went out a few weeks ago when it was real windy and the power went out, the power was restored but my sump pump failed to work, the outcome of this was a huge flood in my basement. We had a vacuum and sucked out the water but after hours of doing this daunting task we got tired. The carpet and padding started to smell horrible the next day, by evening hours the entire house had a rancid smell. We did not want to call Insurance but we did not have a choice. We're first time home buyers so this was a new experience. They told us to call Service Master and we did. They came out at 7 am the next day. They did their walk thru and commended us for our immediate action and told us what to do if anything like this were to happen again. This sump pump failure really caused a lot of damage, all the carpeting and padding had to be removed, some of the drywall had to be removed as well. Neil and his technicians did a great job and shared a lot of useful information for other issues that we were having in our house. Called this company for water damage services due to a toilet overflow, I had a big mess of water all over the second floor and first floor. Fast forward they came out quick, did the insurance thing, left everything very clean and they were thorough. Navigated the entire process. Very satisfied. Needed help with hoarding aftermath on an entire floor of the house. I chose this company because many services I called acted either unprofessional from the beginning or were unable to send a crew for another 5 days to a week. They came and assessed the morning after my call, and came with a full crew the very next day after. The communication was clear and the cleanup needed only minimal assistance from us, and this was a situation straight out of A&E Hoarders. Everyone was professional, courteous and empathetic to the situation, as the damage done to the home was very emotional for my family and me. Arrived immediately to start cleanup, then handled everything with the insurance company and got approval to fix/replace everything that suffered damage. Remember that time when it rained 2 1/2 inches in 30 minutes? Yeah. That night, within moments, my tenants' garden apartment was literally under water: 9:30 at night, the three of us were running around, screaming, throwing towels everywhere, but it was like using a cotton ball to soak up a river. The next morning, I went on Yelp and randomly chose Servicemaster by Zaba to clean up the mess. Here's how it went down: I called the Zaba office and the phone was answered immediately by a real person; my insurance information was recorded and I was told crews could be out within 30 minutes (!wow!); within that time, at least two trucks showed up, workers spilled out, and the mitigation began. Every bit of wet material - from carpet to drywall to cabinets -- was removed immediately to prevent mold and further damage, and what remained was sanitized. Drying equipment was placed throughout and the big dry out began. But then came a SNAFU. A big one. One that made me cry. My insurance (ALLSTATE) said they would deny the claim. Why? After first approving my claim, the adjuster came back and quoted my uneducated description, deciding against coverage. Mind you, the adjuster did NOT bother to visit the apartment. Moreover, I do not know an overhead injector pump from a sump pump, seepage from back up, sewer this or sewer that, or other specialized insurance lingo. All I knew is that water was ankle deep in my apartment and it was an unlivable mess. Now, Allstate was making it a catastrophe!!!!! So much for those "good hands!" However, I didn't have to worry: Neil Omar, owner of Servicemaster by Zaba, personally came to my home to help me. We did a walk through of my whole place, looked at the pumps, drains, and sewer locations. Then, we got on the phone with Allstate and talked to the adjuster's manager. Within a few minutes, my claim was approved. I am not naive that Neil had a vested interest in the deal. But if not for him, I would have gotten screwed. He would have gotten paid either way but, instead, he worked ON MY BEHALF. That's customer service - for ZABA, the CUSTOMER comes first! read more

Once again I experienced water damage, this time it was really bad. I'm so sick of Chicago weather! I called ServiceMaster for the second time given that my first experience with them was awesome. I came home after work and it was raining in my house. Not sure where the water was coming from since it was coming down all over the house. It was a nightmare. I called Neil and he came out right away. He helped me call my insurance company and explain the situation. I can honestly say I love State Farm! My family and I had to move out, my first level and basement were completely gutted out, the crew was outstanding and compassionate, we were in panic mode during this whole time, we didn't think we would be coming home to move out over night. ServiceMaster sent a team of ladies that helped my wife go through her damaged contents and helped her boxed things up for out move, if it wasn't for them my wife would have been lost with everything going on. I was so glad that I called ServiceMaster, they really helped me and wife feel better about the entire process even though we were in a crazy situation. We are still living in a hotel and repairs should be done in a month, ServiceMaster will be helping us move back to our place and will provide a thorough general cleaning which my wife is looking forward too. Thank you for your understanding and patience during our transition in this crazy chaos. Did I mention I had 4 burst pipes? My next move will be to a warmer climate! EDIT: Response to the response - no, there was never an apology or acknowledgement at any step of the way. Most notably the complete lack of transparency on the scheduled time to pick up equipment - "a couple of days" means two days. So come Thursday since your company has had my keys for two days, I expect they'll be there and not "oh we'll be by to pick up the equipment Monday" - a full 6 days from the original start date. 6 is not a couple. No apology was made for keeping my keys, nor even acknowledgement - your customer service acted as if it were all just a part of the plan "oh they'll come by tomorrow to drop them off" - not "Sorry we kept them, we'll be by tomorrow!". When you then STILL had two of them in your possession, Brittany put the following in an email to me: "Also, please contact your tenant regarding your keys, our carpenter does not have them." -- except of course, HE DID HAVE THEM, and it took 5 days in total for me to get all of my keys. I'm not sure what benefit you think there is to me calling you over this. I received absolutely horrible customer service at every stage of the game - including the time they tried to tell me I was wrong about their employees keeping my keys, and only after I repeated that they were nowhere to be found did they finally double check and realize they DID, in fact, keep my keys... TWICE. The job: Remove some wood flooring due to a water leak, dry out the area underneath, and then replace the floor. Problem 1: They didn't make it clear (and my insurance company shares some blame here, but ServiceMaster by Zaba was the guiltiest party) that the job was in two totally separate and virtually unrelated parts. The guy who came to check out my place made it sound like it was all one job - remove the flooring, dry it out, put in new flooring... He even went so far as to talk about where and how he would cut boards to maintain the proper staggered look - it was TOTALLY reasonable for me to believe it was all one job... But it wasn't one job.... So come "final" day of the project, I just have a place with no freaking floors, and NO scheduled follow-up to repair them! Problem 2: Not only were they not clear about when the job ended, they told me "a couple of days" for the drying equipment to be left in my place and they'd then pick it up. They never confirmed with me when, so I made what I think was a relatively fair assumption that "a couple" meant "two" days which would've put us at Thursday... Nope... I called up on Thursday and they just nonchalantly said "oh we'll be by to pick it up Monday" -- this is when I found out about Problem 1 -- that they were just coming to pick up the equipment... Problem 3: The restoration, which had to be planned as a separate job, costing me a small fortune due to the delays making my place partially uninhabitable, wasn't all that great. They ended up making my floor a few shades darker than it originally was -- not something they prepared me for or talked with me about at all. Problem 4: They left a huge mess, breaking their contract to leave things "broom clean"... but what they DIDN'T leave was my keys... I had to email them and tel them that not only had they left a mess, they still had my keys... Problem 5: They came back and dropped off SOME, but not ALL of my keys... yeah, that's right, they kept a couple of them. Then they tried to tell me I was full of it when I said that they seemed to still have some of my keys... and let me be clear here: I was as nice as I could be and tried not to accuse them of taking them on purpose... Problem 6: Only after the rude and incompetent person I'd been dealing with that whole time was out of town did I get someone who was helpful, and who had them double check if they still had some of my keys -- turns out they did... shocker! Problem 7: I had another contractor working on the final day that ServiceMaster had come by just to clean up after itself and return keys, and their staff insulted my other contractor... when I let them know about this, they essentially called me a liar -- because, yeah, I'd really benefit from making up a story about that. Ultimately, they refused to give me any sort of discount, recompense, or even apology for the issues along the way. Honestly, there were other small issues and hiccups I didn't even outline above - but this should sum up the sort of service that ServiceMaster by Zaba provides. Our basement flooded recently. My husband and i were out of town when a neighbor called to say there was a pool of water in our basement. Both of our sump pumps went out. We called Service Master and they came out within the hour. Considering that we were out of the country the process was not as bad as we thought it would be. I won't go into too much detail but I will say I felt completely comfortable with them, they navigated the insurance process with my insurance company and the agent. My son in law was at the property on our behalf and said they were doing a phenomenal job. We had a lot water damage, and Service Master did an outstanding job cleaning up everything. They took care of our belongings and did not leave debris everywhere. We were a bit worried that we would be walking into a big mess and were surprised at how clean everything was despite removing all the drywall and carpet. Really appreciate the work Service Master did and appreciate how much effort they put into our claim and giving us the opportunity to enjoy our vacation in the middle of such chaos! Our worst nightmare happened two days ago. The storm hit, the lights went out and our basement flooded due to a backed up Chicago sewer. Sewage poured in from our toilet, shower drain and utility drain into our lower level. Horrific mess left behind. I called Service Master in a panic at about 10 p.m. and they connected me with Service Master by Zaba on Central Park Ave. Their incredibly nice and helpful dispatcher Diana called me right away, talked me off the ledge and told me she'd do what she could to get someone to come out that evening to assess our situation. I was ready to stay up as long as it took so that the water wouldn't sit too long. She was able to get someone to me by 3am that evening. Louis, Neil and crew came and spent a lot of time going over the estimate with us. We asked that they come back first thing in the morning after we talked to the insurance company and got some rest. They said no problem, we'd be their first stop. They left fans and came first thing the next morning as promised and worked until 7:30 pm clearing out carpet, padding, drywall, damaged goods. They cleaned, swept, moved salvaged things to the garage and disinfected. The crew was especially cheerful and sympathetic as the loss began to sink in. They checked in with me often and finished the job without compliant leaving their fans behind to dry the place out for a few days. In fact, it struck me that they were actually having fun. Given the nature of the work and how hard they were working, it amazed me how positive and pleasant the crew remained throughout that long day. They came back today to collect the fans and do whatever I needed done from moving stuff into the garage to sweeping up. I really couldn't have asked for me. We still have a long road ahead of us, but at least the first big step was made a lot easier thanks to the highly professional crew from Service Master by Zaba. read more

I had a great experience with service masters following my basement being flooded on June 15th 2015. I received estimates from several of the big name competitors and Neil gave the best estimate by far. They showed up promptly and did great work mitigating my flood damage. The entire crew including the office staff made sure that I knew my business was important to them. I called ServiceMaster Restoration to help clean my grandmothers house. Sadly she passed away and had a medical condition that caused her to be a hoarder and we didn't know how to help her. The family got together and attempted to clean out the house but we were unsuccessful. There was so much junk, paper, clothes, shoes, etc and by the time we got in the home the local rats had made it their home. It was starting to become an emotional process for the family. We called a professional company. We found ServiceMaster Restoration, they went over the process. They guys showed up in white suits, oxygen masks and glasses. They got straight to work. We were impressed at how organized the process was. It took about 2 days to clean out 3 levels of the house and garage. We called ServiceMaster again to remove mold from the house and to help us get it ready to sell. We are glad it's over and really wanted to thank ServiceMaster. There was no way we could have done what they did. Hoarder cleanup is not cheap, it does cost but it is worth every penny once it's over with. read more
