Told me to expect it either over the weekend or on the Monday. No quote was forthcoming. I followed up 3 times over the next few weeks to try and get the quote. Finally, to give one last opportunity before I wrote a review, I called 2 weeks ago and was told the technician would call me back that day. Not surprisingly I heard nothing. I can only assume that the tech is assuming this job isn't worth his time as he'll make more elsewhere. Really wanted it to work out with these guys. I know a couple of guys who know the owner/manager and they have alot of good things to say about him. Unfortunately I can't even get a quote.

Started calling places but no one could come out for several days. Quality Comfort said they could be here in 2 hours and they were! Turned out to be a frozen condensate line (you'll remember it was 19 degrees last Christmas morning). Andrew also adjusted other issues that were out of spec (e.g. gas pressure) and spent about an hour going over the system. Total cost to come out on Christmas day? $279 which i think is a bargain.

I didn't let the Quality Comfort technician know about the other diagnosis, and do you know, he figured out the problem in less than an hour, had the part on his truck and the unit was up and running for less than $250! His diagnosis was that candles were being burnt but he said if the problem continues call me and I will send a tech to look at the coil. Today they sent Norm to check the coil and to determine why the filters are turning black. The coil is squeaky clean and the theory is that they are still burning candles, have verified that candle burning is still going on. The recommendation is to clean ducts next spring or sooner if the problem persists. Good job done by a friendly tech, my only quibble was that the lady on the phone told me the tech would be there between 9 and 9:30 and she had actually allocated me in a four hour window between 9 and 1. The other company's estimate came back a little high, so when my friend told me about Triangle Repair Group, I decided to check them out. And I'm so glad I did! I used their website to request an appointment, and their customer service representative, Alex, called me soon after to schedule a technician to see what was going on. The tech, Paul, quickly identified that the issue with my 2.5-ton Rheem package unit was a leaking evaporator coil. He showed me the problem (you could hear it audibly hissing!) and asked if he could follow up that afternoon with a quote to replace the coil. Paul was friendly and helpful and explained things at an appropriate pace. Alex sent me a quote later that day. I was surprised when the cost came back significantly lower than the other company: turns out the part was covered under warranty! I was pretty happy they found that out. Since I had to go out of town, and the HVAC was located entirely outside the house, I asked if I could schedule the repair for while I was gone. Sure enough, Paul was able to get the job done a couple days later. I came back to a comfortably cooled house. Because I'm "that guy," I decided to open up the HVAC to check out Paul's work. A+, super workmanship, clean job! I think and hope we'll be able to get many more years out of this system. I was very pleased with TRG, Paul, and Alex, and I look forward to using them again when I need repairs or a new system... though, obviously, I hope I don't need either anytime soon.

He is friendly, respectful, and communicates well. He clearly informs us of his findings, recommendations, and potential costs. They do NOT do a comprehensive review of your system and then come to you with a list of issues to…read moreaddress with a total cost. What they do is they find one thing. Charge you to fix it. Then, find another and charge you to fix it. Then another and another. Total rip off. My tech did not do the easiest check first. Which was check the coolant level. That is where you should start fist. However, he found capacitors and such to be replaced first. I paid $1,500 to have things fixed only to find I had a failed evaporator coil that should have been noticed from the VERY BEGINNING and wasn't. The tech, Santos, should have seen that I had a failed, rusted evaporater coil, when he installed the fist capacitor. It was obvious that was where the coolant leak would have been. We will get that part later. Be careful doing business with this company. Demand a FULL comprehensive review BEFORE paying for anything. Make them list out EVERY THING they found wrong before making any decision. I was strung along in a desperate situation and taken advantage of. When I asked for a refund I only got $350 back. I understand I had a coolant leak. I was not informed of that until AFTER I spent nearly $700 on two capacitors (that costs about $50 for both parts!). It was very convenient that Santos missed the rusted out evaporator coil when he was working on the FIRST capacitor. When the manager came to my house when I made my first complaint he stated, "Santos was a more junior tech and to chalk this up as a learning experience for Santos." That was an expensive learning experience that I paid for. The manager was Miles. The owner JD was not very helpful. JD accused me of playing "Monday morning quarterback" and also backed out of coming to my house to see what had happened. He had Miles come in his place last minute. I suspect that is because he knew his tech was in the wrong and he chickened out meeting me face to face in my home where I was scammed. Do not do business with this company. They will string you along and take your money. This would be a different story IF, and I mean IF, the tech had done a comprehensive review of my system and came back and said I found the following issues and it will cost $1,500 to fix and the fix may be temporary as there is a leak. What happened was we replaced one capacitor and had to agree to pay for it to move forward. Then another bad capacitor was found and had to agree to pay for that to move forward and THEN the coolant was low and had to pay nearly $500 for that to be replaced and had to agree to that and then had to pay for "Stopleak" to be administered. To add insult to injury the the tech, Santos, then had the balls to ask me to pay $250 for a leak check to find the leak AFTER I just put the coolant in and stop leak in. That seemed like a waste of MORE money since I have now, already, put in the coolant. Total scam. Beware!
