t wasn't a great day when my tenant called and said there was a smell coming from under the house. We went over and looked. We had three inches of sewer water standing in the crawl space. It was a broken pipe. I called three companies for estimates. One estimator wanted me to lowball the estimate for number of square feet of floor space in the house for a better price. The other gave a low ball bid, but wanted 50% of the bid price up front at signing, which is illegal. And then ServPro came through with a upfront estimate that met our needs. They did the job quickly , professionally, and took excellent care of the tenant. However, as with any job , Murphy's Law can always put a glitch in the process. Servpro recognized the problem and solved it to our satisfaction. After building two houses, I know bad things can happen. I also know it's the way the contractor resolves the problem that separates a good contractor from a bad contractor. I would highly recommend Servpro to anyone that was interested in having work done. One of the nice things that we experienced is the foreman, Angel, was always available by phone. We must have had over 40 conversations over the course of 3 weeks. I doubt his phone rang more than once before he picked up on the majority of those conversations. Do not use them! We had standing water in our condo for 24 hours and all they did was run some blowers and dehumidifiers for nearly two weeks. They did not remove a single baseboard to check for mold. We now have to go with a different company to do the remediation correctly. On the first day with the new company, they found mold immediately and will move quickly to demo and rebuild. Jose, the manager of San Leandro, did not call us back after leaving three voicemails spread out throughout the 2 weeks. That is super unprofessional! He is supposed to be leading a team to be on the same page for client satisfaction, but instead I am just left frustrated and feeling like it's a shit show. Thanks for nothing Jose! read more

Poor workmanship and dishonest management. Water valve burst in my kitchen. Hardwood floor would needed to be removed and subfloor dried. Servpro put drying equipment and air movers in place. Walls were dry after 4 days. Project manager Pete Ekasone dried the wet damaged floor for a fifth day even though he knew the damaged floor would soon be taken to the dump. This ran up my bill by $200 for an extra day of labor and equipment. I complained about the unnecessary work to office manager Jose Medrano. After much discussion he eventually agreed to refund $95 for the equipment charges for 1 day of unneeded drying but I would need to pay the $105 in labor charges for 1 day of monitoring equipment that should not have been there in the first place. My requests for the $105 refund were ignored until I wrote about the dishonesty of this franchise on social media. When the work was finished, the crew ripped down the protective plastic damaging the paint in multiple places (photos attached). I was not at the job site and only learned about it after they had "finished" their work. I complained to the project manager Pete Ekasone and he informed me ServPro is not liable for any secondary damages caused by their work. Eventually I got a $200 credit on my bill for these damages. In this case the secondary damage is totally visible yet, I was not informed of it (tenants reported it later). If secondary damage occured in the subfloor I can't see it and I know Pete Ekasone won't report it to me. I have no idea how much additional "secondary damage" was caused or when I will discover it and how much it will cost to fix it. When this was all done and I attempted to pay my bill, the owner Roy Drake informed me there would be 2% surcharge for using my credit card even though the website plainly says they accept credit cards. This surcharge is illegal: oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/credit-card-surcharges The dishonesty at ServPro SanLeandro starts at the top with owner Roy Drake attempting to collect an illegal surcharge and continues with office manager Jose Medrano who wanted to charge me for labor to monitor unnecessary equipment and project manager Pete Ekasone who bills me for unnecessary work and then doesn't report the secondary damage he caused. Do not use them! They will require a deposit and then not call you back for 36hours. We had an emergency of needing a space cleaned and dried so mold wouldn't grow. Servpro was quick to send someone out for the initial inspection. They required a $250 deposit for someone to come out for 30mins to inspect the space. After receiving the deposit the wouldn't call back and ignored our calls to follow up to get the work done. We ended up going with a different company because they took so long to respond. read more

I don't recommend this place. I called the first time, on site manager told me it's $169 for an inspection and $249 for immediate. The next morning they told me it's a mistake and it's now $249 but I have to wait a week now. I say okay fine. One week later someone calls and it's now $500 to do the same inspection. It comes across as price gouging or they are so incompetent they can't get their pricing information right that every single person has their own price list. And then they act like they're shocked that I'm shocked, wouldn't you know it yourself if your own price changed? Put yourself in the shoes of your customers, if the price changes every single time I talk to you with no explanation, won't you be surprised too?? Even if you did increase your price because of higher demand, you can just explain it properly instead of "I don't know who told you that" in that "it is what it is, take it or leave it" manner. I had a water supply line to the toilet tank break. It flooded the entire apartment. My insurance company suggested three remediation company alternatives. I chose one of them, Servpro. Servpro arrived within 2 hours and immediately began their remediation. Within hours they had set up fans and dehumidifiers to dry out the apartment. The working staff and the administrative staff were very professional and customer friendly. They were flexible with ongoing follow-up appointments to check moisture content and kept me advised of the drying progress. I'm sorry Clayton, but I don't know where you're coming from. "Satisfaction" is not a word myself or insurance will use. So what about this is a miscommunication? Aside from your foreman routinely replying late to our messages? We needed the units cleared, there's no grey area in that request. Everything but the frame was burnt to a crisp. Simply remove all debris and waste. Your company was not asked to restore anything. We ourselves took care of permits, hazardous waste (which your company was supposed to do), rebuilding and "personal property". What you say was "5 distinct services" in the quote ended up being a breakdown with fancy words for; facemask, vacuum cleaners, and fans. It was broken down per room with what "$10 face mask" along with a "HEPA cleaner" would be used. If anything it was a poorly written way to trick the insurance for more money. What makes this funny is that the contractor (Mark Scott Construction) your tech told us about quoted us $25K less for the exact same job. How do you reconcile that difference? We asked them exactly what we asked of your company, clean up. And I need to stress that it was not insurance that made us go to you, it was my supervisor who also realized the mistake too late. Insurance had no "requirement" as you put it. Their ONLY thing is that the property goes back to the way it was, no more no less. Guess how does that start? With a clean up. It was the combined effort of my coworker AND the adjuster that lowered it to $12.5k. read more

We had an overflow in our upstairs bathroom which caused some water damage in our bedroom. The clean up went fine, Jorge and his crew were great. The so so review is for what happened after. About a month later we received an estimate for the reconstruction. We agreed to it, but wanted to have the painting removed from it since my wife was planning on repainting our bedroom anyway. (We had previously discussed this with them and they said this would be fine to take it out) We also had a time frame we needed it to be done in since I would be returning to work soon and I wasn't in a place where I could be taking time off once I went back. I explained this in my reply to the estimate and I never heard anything back. I ended up wasting another week waiting for a reply and fortunately was able to find a contractor who was able to complete the restoration in time for us. I called Servpro regarding treatment for mold throughout the home. I spoke with a lady by the name of Grecia. She was very professional and quick to respond to our needs. We met the very next morning so I could get a quote for the work to be done. The quote included the treatment for mold as well as an ozone treatment for the entire home and a carpet cleaning for one separate room. The technicians came out the day after Grecia gave me the quote and completed all the work within a day. The following day, Grecia met me at the house to air it out after the ozone treatment and check in with me. Everything looked fantastic and no longer had the smell of mold. Several days later, we noticed that there was some mold around the edges of the bathtub, which had been overlooked. I once again contacted Grecia and she immediately responded by having another technician return to the home the following morning to treat that area. Once it was completed, Grecia checked in with me to make sure it was thoroughly treated. I told her I really appreciated her customer service and professionalism regarding the entire project, especially with the call back. They came out that day (it was a Sunday), cleaned up all the water, put in heavy duty fans, and pads and vacuums to suck the water out of my old hardwood floors.
