Markley Grille was a real treat: homemade meatball sliders and fries were outstanding. Why eat a hot dog.....aye carumba ! Reading the reviews about ranger harassment was NOT the case. 9-minute tee time separation reminded me to keep our play brisk. The rangers DID make sure we had cool water on three occasions - even on the 17th hole. We fixed our ball marks and a few extras; raked the bunkers as well. One bunker was in bad shape; not sure why. My understanding is that the carts are tracked electronically. Any reminder to players about pace of play is not biased. One practice swing on the tee box will serve you well. The greens at BVGC are not that hard to read. No need to do that [stuff] seen on TV. To those players who had a less than positive experience: remember to do your part and enjoy golf as it was intended. Advised rangers of the issue and they did nothing about it. Complete incompetence. No water coolers on course. Avoid and go anywhere to golf other than this dump.

I write to inform everyone. that Sunday round on the Presidential course was my last. For $85 , I expected a round of golf, not a wilderness survival course. Here is a brief recap of Sundays "amenities": Tee Boxes: Grass was non-existent, but the swarms of hovering wasps were a nice touch if you enjoy buzzing anxiety on your backswing. Bunkers: Less "sand traps," more "unpaved gravel roads." Hard, washed out, and full of stones. Fringes: Mostly dirt. Holes 8 and 14 looked like they were recovering from an excavation project. Fairways: A complete lottery. If you were lucky, your ball landed on a patch of grass (see Hole 13). Most of the time, not so much. Trees: Hole 12's fairway is already tight , but the overhanging tree branches really top it off. Unless a golfer hits a pristine draw--or plays from the senior tees, where the branches are directly in your face--a good tee shot is rewarded with a tree branch to the golf ball. Hydration & Hospitality: Zero beverage carts on a sweltering day, and no halfway house. To grab a drink, players have to survive 11 holes, then dart across 16 and 17 to sprint into the shop--a fun little surprise the starter conveniently forgot to mention. Greens: Running so slow I thought I was putting on shag carpet. At \$85, you are pricing yourselves alongside Turtle Creek, Raven's Claw, and Bella Vista. The difference is those courses actually maintain their turf. Right now, Hickory Valley looks less like a premium public track and more like a abandoned lot with flagsticks.

I have utilized it to get a feel for my new woods, and it has paid dividends in applying what I've learned out on a real course. Once you get adjusted to how the system works, it's easy to operate. There are about 30 different virtual courses to choose from, and the details of each are completely accurate. I've found that I can play a solo round in about an hour if I'm keeping a quick pace (and not drinking). Which brings me to my next point... They have a full service bar on site! This is great for hanging out with friends, corporate outings, etc. I plan on having some kind of business event there. No complaints whatsoever.

I offered to join another group but he mumbled something and he left the register. When I came back I after nine,the starter was no where to be found and since this course has 3 nines I needed to know which nine I was to play next. Traps were atrocious, yes there was a significant amount of rain the night before, but, there was minimal sand and pipes were exposed on at least one trap. Finally, the woman behind the counter totally ignored me when I wanted a food order, 6 yes 6 people came up to the counter and she took there order. I guess sitting there quietly was my problem.
