His dermatologist recommended Dr Gelman and another specialist in Utah. We chose California first because it was closer. Unfortunately, our experience was INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTING! My husband was experiencing severe scrotal lymphedema that continued to worsen despite seeing multiple doctors before we met with Dr Gelman. During our appointment with Dr Gelman, we spent approximately 45 minutes being told that his weight was the problem. Grabbing his belly, calling him fat. COMPLETING HUMILIATING. Told him he needs to get gastric bypass, then maybe we could talk about surgery. What made this even more frustrating was that Dr Gleman has published research and treated patients with much larger cases of scrotal lymphedema, including the patient featured on TLC with a 132 pound scrotum!! My husband was nowhere near that size, yet we were told his weight was the issue and no effort was made to determine the underlying cause of his lymphedema. As we later learned, obesity was NOT the cause of his condition. We later learned that the underlying problem was severe lymphatic dysfunction. His lymphatic system was not properly draining the fluid from the area, which caused the progressive buildup of fluid, inflammation, and tissue. His condition was much more complex than simply being overweight like Dr Gelman blamed the cause on. A little while after his appointment with Dr Gelman, he developed cellulitis that progressed to sepsis where his kidneys began to shut down. We had just switched insurance plans and happened to be in a 15 day coverage gap leaving us with approximately $50,000 in medical bills. He had never spent a single night in a hospital before. Imagine this never would've happened if Dr Gelman actually wanted to help look for a solution instead of being fatphobic. We saw the second specialist at University of Utah who IMMEDIATELY said, "We need to fix this." He immediately recognized the severity of the condition, fought through the insurance hurdles with us, and performed surgery. Looking back, it's heartbreaking to think about how much suffering, time, and money might have been prevented if we had received a more thorough evaluation and a willingness to investigate the cause instead of attributing everything to weight. I would never recommend Dr Joel Gelman.

I am a fan a Doctor Phan!…read more As a 65 year old man faced the malady of an enlarged prostate and medicine was no longer an option so I had to pick a procedure, I picked the Rezume method because it had minimal or no side effects. Like most people I did a fair amount of research into picking a surgeon who had a good track record and also had done quite a few of these. Dr. Phan rose to the top because of his reviews and upon meeting him he exudes confidence and humility which is a rare combination in a physician. The procedure turned out great and you couldn't ask for a nicer more caring person than Dr Phan. His practice is what they call a concierge and for basically the price of a cup of coffee per day you get unbelievable access to him and the old adage you get what you pay for certainly applies. Two months post procedure all systems are go. I couldn't recommend him more highly. The support staff is a well oil machine and very peronable.

I had a very frustrating experience with The Clark Center Surgery…read more I needed to reschedule my surgery due to nerves and wanting more time to fully understand the risks. That is when I was told about a $500 cancellation fee within two weeks, something that was never clearly communicated. My entire scheduling process was handled through text, not a single phone call, and even at my pre op appointment exactly two weeks before surgery, this fee was never mentioned. When I called, I was repeatedly told "it is the policy" without any real explanation. I asked to speak to a manager, and the assistant administrator, Shannon, called me back. Unfortunately, she was very difficult to deal with. Her tone was stern and dismissive, and I barely had a chance to explain my concerns before she said, "Angela, it is our policy," speaking slowly in a way that felt condescending. I explained that I was not calling to argue that they have policies. My concern was the lack of communication and the fact that everything was scheduled so close to that two week window. I asked to speak with the administrator since she reports to them, but she refused and said, "No, this is my job, and no one will be calling you back." At one point, she also said, "Well, I am going to charge your credit card on file," which was completely inappropriate. I fully understand that offices have policies, but this is surgery, clear communication matters. Patients should not be expected to rely on fine print from an initial visit when surgery was not even planned yet. Even on my preop, it was not mentioned. I do want to say Dr. Clark and Carrie have been great, but because of how this was handled, I will not be returning.

Extremely frustrating experience with prescription refill management at Orange County Urology…read moreAssociates. Per their office policy, patients are told the pharmacy must initiate refill requests. I started the process with CVS on Sunday night. By Monday, CVS informed me they could not get a response from the provider's office. I also contacted the office directly via text as instructed. For nearly an entire week, there was little to no communication. CVS could not get responses. My texts went unanswered. Phone calls were not picked up. I was repeatedly left in the dark regarding a very basic medication refill. What makes this even more disappointing is that I was patient throughout the process. I gave the office grace. I tried to work within their procedures. I gave them multiple opportunities to make things right rather than immediately posting a negative review. I eventually escalated the matter to Caroline, who assured me the issue would be handled by Jackie, the Nurse Manager. I genuinely believed they were finally going to take ownership and resolve the issue properly. Unfortunately, even after those promises, there was still no urgency, no proactive follow-up, and no meaningful communication. Friday morning came and went with complete silence until I started reaching out yet again. The problem is bigger than one refill delay. There appears to be a deeper structural and cultural issue within the office. The practice feels severely disorganized, understaffed, poorly coordinated internally, and lacking accountability. The right hand does not seem to know what the left hand is doing. A routine RX refill should not require nearly a week of follow-up, repeated escalation, unanswered messages, pharmacy intervention, and management involvement just to get basic patient care handled.
