618 was the perfect spot to celebrate my mom's birthday this year. We started with the grilled flatbread -- loved the combination of mushrooms and goat cheese. I ordered the burger, which was pretty big and juicy. The fries were nice and crispy as well. For dessert, we got the banana dulce de leche gelato and ice cream cookie sandwiches. The gelato was so unique and rich. The ice cream cookie sandwiches were perfect for me and I loved the side of Nutella with nuts on top which added a nice crunch. Their commitment to hospitality beats most restaurants I've ever visited. In our reservation, I noted that we were celebrating a birthday. When we were sat at the table, a birthday card was waiting for my mom. Our waitress Bailey was so nice and accommodated my mom's request to not draw too much attention to the celebration. I've recently been mesmerized by sister property Mezcal, and haven't been back to 618 in some time. Last night we were in the area and decided to swing by for a cocktail and appetizers. Very cool that Venue 618 was the only NJ restaurant to make the recent Yelp Top 100 restaurants in the US. Sitting at the bar, we were served by Zoey, Steve, and Mike. They've re-done their cocktail menu to include beautiful color illustrations. I enjoyed "One in a Melon," a well-balanced whiskey cocktail with Frank August small batch bourbon, melon, poblano pepper, Aperol, and lime. This was followed by a tasty whiskey sour. My wife ordered a Lemon Drop martini, followed by a decadent chocolate-pistachio dessert martini. All of the cocktails were well-balanced and delicious. On the food side, I munched on a baked macaroni & cheese with chorizo. It was perfect! The Death of Hospitality brand thrives on personalization and unexpected surprises. Mixologist Steve, realizing that I'm a whiskey afficionado, surprised me with a small pour of Rock Hill Farms Single Barrel bourbon. This is a difficult bottle to find in New Jersey. After dining many times at 618, I hosted my wife's retirement dinner there last night. We had the private oak room with our own bartender to make sure there was no wait for drinks. The food was amazing. The filet mignon, halibut, and chicken Milanese all drew rave reviews from my guests. What made the night even more enjoyable was the outstanding service by June, Ro and Beverly. I got more compliments on the service than on the food. These ladies never stopped moving and made each guest feel like they were the only ones in the room at times. From the first minute guests entered until they were thanked by the ladies on their way out the door, these three ladies showed why they are an asset to your restaurant. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner, and let me tell you - this place is worth it (a 45 minute drive for us by the way). Like I said, we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and the restaurant was kind enough to have a HAND WRITTEN personalized note waiting for us at the table and the waiter even dropped off a special dessert! Now the service.. our waiters name was Daniel (Danny) M, and he was spectacular. He was very enthusiastic about the menu and walked us through which dishes were worth it. He often checked up on us and delivered great entertainment when our drinks came out. Danny made the experience very enjoyable and is one of the reasons why we would LOVE to come back here, and bring more friends to enjoy the service and menu offerings. Came here for a business dinner. I was surprised to see so many people on a Tuesday night outside of a meeting! The parking was a bit difficult despite there being a big lot in the back. I imagine on less busy days parking should be easier. We had a prix fixe menu from the company. I had the steak and fries. I had my bridal shower in the All Seasons room two weeks ago, and it was one of the best, most beautiful celebrations I have ever had. From the beginning, Jared was amazing to communicate and work with leading up to the date. He was receptive, knowledgeable, and available to answer all the questions of an anxious bride. Frankie was so helpful with executing the day and making sure all of my selections were correct, and the day ran smoothly. I chose the brunch buffet with the open bar option, and my signature drink was an espresso martini. The bartender was INCREDIBLE, and every staff member was so attentive throughout the event. The room itself was gorgeous and barely needed any extra decorating except for a few unique touches to make it my own. For us, 618 is an "occasion restaurant". So that's where my wife and I went for my birthday. We had a 5:00 reservation on a Friday night and were sat immediately. From the cocktail menu, we got a Lychee Martini and Berry White Margarita. So good and refreshing. Entrees were Shirt Steak with shrimp and Cabernet Braised Short Rib. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. I've never had a chimichurri sauce with steak before, but it was a great pairing. My wife commented the green beans with short ribs were "like crack", couldn't stop eating them . For dessert, we shared the Warm Sticky Toffee Cake, and it was delicious! Our server was Austin, who was amazing! Great personality and knew the menu inside and out! We've been to 618 before, and know they are really sweet if you are celebrating by providing a dessert on the house with a sparkler. But I said no to the question if we're celebrating tonight not wanting the attention. Austin surprised us with an ice cream sandwich from Jersey Freeze to take home with us. Finally had dinner at 618, and the food was fantastic! I've known about 618 since I looked into them a couple of years ago as a potential wedding venue. We arrived on Saturday for an early dinner at 5:15 pm, and the restaurant and bar were already super lively. Thankfully, they offer complimentary valet parking, which is helpful since the parking lot isn't huge--especially if there's a wedding taking place in their upstairs hall space. The restaurant is very pretty and romantic inside, with rustic brick, large chandeliers, and decorative florals throughout. It would be a great date spot. We had a large booth table tucked away in a back corner, as we were a party of seven. The table was very spacious and had a lazy Susan in the center, which made sharing appetizers easy! We ordered several appetizers to start--meatballs, short rib ravioli, BBQ shrimp with grits, crab cakes, and the spuds. Everything was delicious; my favorites were the meatballs and the shrimp. For my main course, I had the pork chop, and my husband had the short rib. We both loved our entrées. The pork chop was a large portion, so I brought half of my dish home. The short rib portion was a lot smaller. Others at our table had the special snapper, the halibut, and the filet mignon. Everyone was happy with their dishes. We ended the meal with three orders of the pistachio olive oil cake--so good! My one complaint is that the drinks didn't feel very strong. There were also some service issues. Our large order of appetizers came out surprisingly quickly, as did our entrées. Unfortunately, all our silverware was cleared with the appetizers, so none of us had utensils when our entrées arrived. Also, only six of the seven main dishes came out initially, and it took several minutes before the final snapper dish was brought out. Other than that, it was a pleasant meal. Several managers were floating around the main dining floor and regularly checked in on us to make sure we were okay. Thank you to the entire 618 staff for making our wedding day absolutely PERFECT! From the moment we arrived until the end of the night, every single staff member went above and beyond. Everyone was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and truly made us feel like family. A huge thank you to Hayley, Lindsey, Frankie, Jared, Patricia, Amanda, and anyone else I may have missed--you all played such an important role in making our day unforgettable. We were a 6/18 bride and groom who got married on 6/18 at 618, and it couldn't have been more perfect! We've been coming to the restaurant for dinner even before our wedding, so being able to celebrate our wedding there made it even more meaningful. As always, the food was absolutely amazing! I also want to give a very special thank you to Frankie. About five minutes before our ceremony, our original officiant still hadn't arrived. Frankie came into the bridal suite to explain what was happening. I immediately panicked and asked, "What do we do now?" Without hesitation, he said, "I'm licensed--I can marry you guys." Talk about a lifesaver! Frankie stepped up in a way we never could have imagined. This was completely unexpected and thrown at him at the very last minute, yet he handled it with such confidence, professionalism, and kindness. He performed our ceremony beautifully, and you would have never known it was his first time officiating a wedding at 618. After reading all the great reviews, I decided to check the place out this past Thursday night. Arrived on time for our 6pm reservation and the place was packed but there were several hosts at the door who all cheerfully greeted me. I was able to check in immediately as the line for checkin quickly grew out the door. Upon entering from the vestibule, you walk into the bar. The place is very lively, perhaps a bit noisy but the bar was fully occupied with several patrons eating at the bar. I was very happy to see several bottles of Blanton's on the shelves. Dozens in fact. This whet my appetite for a cocktail. After about 5 minutes of waiting, we were seating at a table in the middle of the main diniing room adjacent to the "wine cellar". A very busy intersection but there were no other 2 tops available. During the course of the night our server as well as other servers bumped into us on several occassions. Immediately upon being seated, our server arrived and asked for our drink order. We told him we were in no hurry and we needed to peruse the menu. He came back a minute or two later with water for the table and again asked for our order. We asked for more time. He seemed put off but took the opportunity to explain the specials listed on the first page of the menu and to push the specialty vodkas as well as bragging that he has been a server for over 40 years. After a while, we summoned the server and ordered a Blanton's and an Absolute with a spalsh of grapefruit and continued to persue the menu and wine list. Our server suggested to try the Beluga Gold in place of the Absolute. My friend agreed but I think the server should have told him it was $26 a shot since he was making the suggested substitution. There is something for everyone on the menu. The wine list was pretty thin but adequate. No real deals or value on the wines. We decided to split a flatbread and the burrata for appetizer. My friend has a vegan entre and I had the bronzino. We ordered a bottle of Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc. While waiting for our appetizers, we could not help but notice the great vibe of this place. Many tables of friends engaged in lively discussion as well as a few tables of families with very well behaved small children. People watching at times distracted our conversations. This is a great place for gathering either at the bar or celebrating in the dining room, but IMHO not the kind of place for that special meal or romantic date. After ordering our meals, bread and butter (no EVOO?) was brought to the table and in a short time, the appetizers arrived. The flatbread was awesome. Actually, we could have split that for appetizer or one person could have had for an entry. Flavorful and generous portion. We were not done with the appetizers when the entrees arrived. Not cool. Again, I felt we were being rushed even though we explained a few times that we were NOT in a rush. Regardless, the bronzino was flavorful and the vegan dish Im told was "nothing special" but enjoyable. After finishing our entrees, I inquired about after dinner drinks. e.g. Cognac, Armagnac, etc. Server said he wasnt knowlegable and he didnt offer to investigate. So we passed on dessert and asked for the check. I would go back, but I would insist on a different server and if possible, a better table location. Perhaps even consider eating at the bar. I also think $29 for a Blanton's is a bit steep but I was happy to enjoy the glass as I have not had one in a while. If you are going to eat at the bar, go early. By 6pm the bar was full. If eating in the dining room, reservations are a must and perhaps ask for a table against a wall and out of the main traffic lanes. read more

My husband took me here for my birthday back in August. I was not disappointed in anything except for the initial delay in seating us and wanting more cocktails from the bar before dinner. What I mean to say politely is even with reservations, there was a bit of a wait for everything, I assume it was due to it being a Saturday night at a 5 star restaurant in the summer. When we discovered that 618 shared the same visionary owner the decision for our anniversary dinner became easy of course we were going to 618. A quick phone reservation later, we were counting down the days like kids waiting for summer vacation. Dressed to impress, we made our way to Freehold. The moment you step foot inside 618, the restaurant's magic begins its quiet work. Their winter atrium was nothing short of cinematic, glittering ornaments and shimmering icicles looked as if they had been borrowed directly from the set of a high-budget holiday film. 618's commitment to beauty also continues seamlessly through the bar and dining rooms. Everywhere you look, the décor whispers the same message: stagnation not welcome here. The attention to detail was lovingly and meticulously executed. At our table awaited a handwritten card (yes, actually handwritten!) congratulating us on our anniversary alongside a red napkin folded into a romantic rose. It was a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes about 618's philosophy of hospitality. We instantly felt seen, celebrated, and just a little bit spoiled. Our first server, John, welcomed us warmly and guided us through the specials before his shift ended. Then we met Austin our enthusiastic and knowledgeable server who guided us through the drink menu. If Mezcal's cocktails had raised our expectations, Austin ensured that 618 matched them. Drink one: Between the Lines, a butterfly-pea-infused Patrón creation presented in a hollow glass book nestled among actual books the owner has read and been inspired by. As someone who doesn't judge a book by its cover, I appreciated this clever storytelling touch. The cocktail itself had deep, evolving flavors that woke up our palates. It was clear the magic of 618's and Mezcal's philosophy was going to be ever present throughout our dining experience. Our first appetizer arancini from the evening's specials was crisp, creamy, and beautifully balanced. Dipping our bread into the leftover sauce as to not leave anything to waste felt so very right. Then came drink number two. My fiancée ordered Crows Before Bros, a sweet, fall-themed alcoholic cider served in an adorable scarecrow mug. I followed Austin's recommendation: an old fashioned dramatically smoked with a skull apparatus that looked straight off the set of an edgy magic show. I would have overlooked it on the menu had Austin not recommended it. Next up: the Crispy Pork Belly, which became my runaway favorite of the night. I almost didn't order it and I'm not ashamed to admit that would have been a HUGE mistake. It was perfection. If I could write the word perfectly in italics, bold, AND fireworks, I would. Crispy. Tender. Decadent. Order this dish. Our final round of drinks did not disappoint. My fiancée's Aperol Spritz...But Make It Fall tasted like autumn wrapped in a scarf. I ordered the Fig-getaboutit, a brandy-based cocktail served with a honey stick coated in fig honey. You adjust the sweetness by swirling the stick, like turning up the volume on a song you love. It was interactive, clever, and genuinely delicious. One of the most creative cocktails I've ever had. Onto the main act. My Braised Short Rib was so tender it practically filed for emancipation from the fork. Every component from the silky mashed potatoes to the perfectly cooked green beans was absolute comfort-food luxury. My fiancée ordered the Grilled Island Salmon. While I am not typically a salmon guy, even I enjoyed the purple cauliflower accompaniment and she said the fish was delicious. 618 clearly understands the art of pairing vegetables with proteins not an art every restaurant respects these days. Dessert time. We missed dessert at Mezcal and promised ourselves we wouldn't make that mistake twice. Torn between the Pistachio Olive Oil Cake and Warm Sticky Toffee Cake, we went with the latter partly because Gordon Ramsay famously says it takes years to master. I've attempted to make it myself and failed so hard it should be illegal. But 618? They nailed it. Warm, rich, perfectly balanced and it arrived with a sparkler and "Happy Anniversary!" message, creating a moment that truly felt magical. Overall our experience at 618 was extraordinary! It completely lived up to the experience we had at Mezcal. Between the food which was excellent, the atmosphere which was awe inspiring, and the staff that made us feel welcomed and celebrated our anniversary, we had a top notch experience at 618. This restaurant encompasses everything a great restaurant should be. In today's world I often feel many restaurants focus heavily on the restaurant part and forget the hospitality. 618 and Mezcal combine both elements to create an experience that is unforgettable in more ways than just good food. came all the way from north Jersey for my birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint at all!!! From service, to food, drinks, ambience...everything was amazing!!! I was late for my reservation and the kitchen was 20 mins from closing and they were super accommodating and let us stay and enjoy our meals thoroughly and even brought out a birthday Sunday after we already overstayed! I loved everything about this place and will be recommending and returning for that cacio e pepe lol read more
