This place has very fast service. They barely gave me a moment to settle in and I had to wipe myself. It's also super tacky with the Venmo tip inside the service rooms. This is the 3rd place I've done laser, on a different section of my body. I've never tipped a nurse before. The other places reject it because it is unethical. You get what you pay for. One star because I had such a negative experience here yesterday with the receptionist after having been such a loyal customer to this SEV location for over a year now, having referred a few friends to join, usually having pleasant visits. I have always paid in advance, sign everything on time, and I always tip. On Monday 8/26 I completed the confirmation and waiver, for a Wednesday 8/28 appointment (yesterday). On Tuesday I had to have an emergency dental surgery, and was put on Penicillin, which I did not know I'd be put on in advance, nor did I think it was going to interfere with my procedure because it does not cause photosensitivity so I did not cancel my appointment myself. I show up on time to my appointment on Wednesday 8/28, and get turned away because Penicillin is still considered an antibiotic regardless of it not causing photosensitivity - they consider all antibiotics as a "no" under a general term. When the nurse told me this, she was very empathetic and said I should be VOID of any cancellation fee since this is a very specific case and to which I was unaware of this drug I'd be prescribed of. I get up to the reception desk, and she does charge me a cancellation fee (50% of the appointment = $147.50) to which I already paid for in advance. Essentially, they charged me for them cancelling my own appointment! I asked if they could make an exception because I confirmed my appointment BEFORE I knew I was going to get prescribed medication, not to mention I still showed up and was unaware I'd get turned away. The receptionist would not budge on waiving the fee and when I asked her to follow up with her manager, she told me to contact her myself. So disappointed for being charged such a harsh cancellation fee for something I didn't even cancel, after already paying for it. I am being punished for something I could not have known in advance due to this surprise medical prescription that incurred after I confirmed my appointment. I didn't even feel it!! Best laser experience ever. I usually have a really low pain tolerance but SEV's laser machines are high tech and really take the pain away from the experience. The nurses started off at a low setting to make sure the laser doesn't cause skin irritation and the more you go, the higher they'll bump up the laser setting. They also have a fan that connects to the laser so it sends out cool air during the procedure which feels soo nice! Also it was super quick, I was in and out in 15 min. Yesterday was my second time and I can already see my hair growth slowing down. If you've been thinking about laser-ing but feel hesitant because of the pain, just do it! You won't regret it. The facility itself is super cute and clean and the nursing staff was nice and informative! Parking is a bit difficult... I had to circle the block a few times and look for parking in the smaller side streets because market st is BUSAY! Several spots were missed. My underarm treatment was not treated fully as well. The technician was nice and very quick. She did not mark any areas for treatment. *Second appointment- My technician was VERY thorough! She marked the entire area of my underarms and full brazilian. She was training another technician but I had no issues with her being in the room. She marked the areas and treated them in a timely manner. Honestly, I'm very disappointed with my experience. Let me start with what I got - full body laser hair removal. From what I read off the website it seemed like that would make the most financial sense. From the website: "Legs, underarms, bikini line... we know it can all add up. When you combine all of these services together, you can save yourself a lot of time and money." Thought this would be perfect because those were the three areas I particularly wanted to treat. The day before my appointment, I received a text from the NP to hop on a video call. Though I had made this appointment a month prior, I only had a few hour window in which to have this call. If for some reason you're not able to take that call you're appointment can be cancelled. If you're appointment is cancelled you get charged 50%. BTW if you forget to submit your SEVEN forms, cancellation fee. If you're late, cancellation fee. Anyway I get to my appointment and go into a room to start my treatment. I tell the nurse that while I signed up for the full body laser hair removal the three areas I really only care about are the underarms, legs, and Brazilian. I don't have much hair elsewhere and if I do, it's extremely fine. I wish that at this point I had been told to not do the full package but do just those treatments as it would have saved me around $250. Now this part is on me, I'll acknowledge that. I forgot to shave for my Brazilian. The nurse was nice and gave me a razor so we could still do this section. It was the worst razor I've ever used - it was hard to get a clean shave but I tried my best. I guess I should consider myself lucky because as I learned, normally if you forget to shave the front desk people will turn you away... and you guessed it, charge you a 50% cancellation fee. Anyway, I'm told that because it wasn't a clean shave, it would probably be a bit patchy down there. Not what I want to hear after spending $550 + tip. We then start to look for other places on my body to laser to make it worth my money. We find nothing on my back, neck, barely anything on my face. It's upsetting that I couldn't just change the treatment I had bought... I essentially wasted my money. Wrap up the appointment and now go to pay. I ask if for the next session we could just do those three areas rather than fully body. I want the package deal (buy 5 get one free). Apparently this first session doesn't count for the package deal because the full body treatment is different than the three individual treatments. Disappointing because come to find out, the full body treatment wasn't something I even wanted or needed in the first place. Overall, this experience was terrible. She works on the front desk, I thought maybe that's just how she is. My credit card on file did not go through for the reason that I lost my credit card, I know I did not have to explain myself but I felt judged. What is even more annoying is that they usually ask me to book my next appointment right away but that girl did not. I had my first session at SEV Laser recently. I went in wary since I am a person of darker skin and have heard horror stories about being burnt or scarred. I did my research and found out that the YAG laser is safe and works well on people of color. My nurse Tulsi was great at explaining everything and ensured me the same. I had a great first experience and will be continuing my sessions and will be lasering my legs as well. I have read negative reviews about the front desk and management. If you're like me and feel like you're literally going to faint just thinking about getting a wax... then laser is the way to go! I've only gotten one wax in my life and it was extremely painful, after many recommendations I decided to try Laser. I first heard of SEV from my friends in Los Angeles, it's the celebrity go to and the place has a lot of buzz! I was so excited to hear they had opened one up in San Francisco. I purchased a groupon of 6 sessions for $150, pretty awesome deal! The max sessions are about 6-8 for lasting results. Let me start by saying SEV is set up beautifully, the decor is so upscale and chic, really gives you the Hollywood vibe. I feel important when I come here! However, there admin customer service needs some serious work, it's almost impossible to get through to anyone on the phone, and you have to book each appointment within a month of each other! I recommend going online to their website and booking your 6 or however many appointments all at the same time, this worked for me and I've had no issues. When you arrive, you check in at the Kiosk and wait for your name to be called, they are almost always on time, I've only had to wait max 10 min after my appointment time. The laser doesn't hurt (in my opinion) it feels almost like someone is pinching you a million times. The appointment is very fast! I'm in and out in 15 minutes. The technician who performed my laser was extremely attentive and informative, she explained the process to me entirely and periodically checked to make sure I was doing okay! I have been here three times now, and each time the nurses are so nice and explain everything thoroughly. I get my full face done, make sure not to come in with any makeup or moisturizer or they'll have you use a makeup wipe to remove everything. I am so shocked but very pleased at how painless the whole laser treatment was at SEV for both my underarms & brazilian. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes, I kid you not! I purchased a groupon for six laser hair removal sessions on one LARGE area (brazilian and underarm counts as one large session together) for $187 (this was with 25% off at the time). Recommended to grow out your hair for at least 4 weeks and shave 24-48 hours before your appointment. Easy online booking system. You put a card on file when booking online (you don't get charged, it's just to hold your appointment or in case of a cancellation). You show your Groupon when you check out after your appointment and tip afterwards. You are required to fill out several forms online before your treatment and will need to do a quick Facetime call a day before with a nurse practitioner to verify your medical history. The call takes less than 5 minutes. It didn't hurt at all. The nurse does a quick test zap to see how it feels for you. She increases the intensity depending on your pain tolerance. I only felt it in the more sensitive areas, but still, it wasn't much. It just felt like a quick flick of a rubber band on your skin. The cooling fan that blows on your skin at the same time really helps! I had such a quick, easy great first experience that I wish I had tried this sooner! Excited to see the end results after finishing all the sessions! I booked my next two sessions right after my appointment because they are pretty busy! Bleh, I hate leaving mediocre reviews but my experience at SEV has been hit or miss. Like many others here, I was drawn in by the Groupon deal and for sure this is one of the best deals out there for laser hair removal in the city (the other most affordable option is LaserAway, but it has crappy reviews so I don't even want to try it). Some parts of the experience are great, others aren't but here we go: I started my lasering journey with the Groupon, which covers 6 sessions. My first nurse told me that I'd see great results within six sessions, so I was all good with that. Anyway, I'm on my eleventh(!) session now and still have a good amount of hair growth on my upper lip and Brazilian areas. My underarms have taken well though. So, every time after your treatments, they'll ask you if you want to get a "buy 5 get one free package" and you should answer yes. Yes you do. Because you'll definitely need more sessions than you expect. I kept on thinking "yeah, I'll probably only need 6 sessions and then a touch up biannually and that'll be all" but no. I regret not getting the package earlier! In my eleven sessions, I've never gotten the same nurse twice...I don't know if there's a high turnover rate, or if it's all by chance, but the nurses themselves vary in terms of friendliness, thoroughness, and overall concern. Honestly it'd be nice to get some consistency. Some of my nurses just start zapping away; the better ones check whether the zaps are too painful or too light and check in on you. Some offer aloe vera to go at the end of the session, some just rush you right out. Maybe most importantly, some nurses notice if you wince or flinch from the pain and ask if you want a break or to turn the laser down, but my most recent nurse 100% saw me flinch and just kept going. Funnily enough, I ask my nurses after each session how many sessions they think it'll take me to get hair free, and each nurse gives a different answer. It started with "just 6 sessions" and most recently, "8-12 sessions or more". (for reference: I'm an Asian American, super dark hair and relatively light skin, which is supposedly one of the easier combinations to laser treat) On the bright side, the ladies at the reception are nice, the office is clean (luxe candles and white roses every time), and they allow you to wait outside to facilitate distancing. My underarms are looking good but my other parts leave a lot to be desired. I've been seen within 10 minutes of arriving probably 85% of the time which is pretty good; I wish they'd text when they're running behind though. Tips: - park near the Safeway (metered) a few blocks down - after more research, I learned that pregnancy triggers hair growth, so if you plan on getting pregnant anytime soon, it'll just undo any lasering you've had done - ask to check your settings before each session - get the package deal for whichever body parts you're treating, because the "touch up" that you see listed on the price chart means literally them touching up particular clusters of missed hairs. The packages don't expire, and it'd make more sense to get the entire part completely retreated as part of your bi/annual touchup than getting a few spots here and there. read more

I lucked out with a package on Groupon that almost seemed too good to be true, I couldn't pass up on it. Once I bought the deal on Groupon, I called SEV to make an appt directly and had no issues redeeming my deal. I've gone 3 out of 6 times so far and the service never disappoints. With Covid, they take extra safety precautions with making sure clients fill out health paperwork prior to each appointment, everyone wears masks at all times, they limit how many guests are in at a time and temperature is taken at the door. The procedure itself is not bad at all. It can feel like a little sting but it happens so quickly and the cool air blowing at the same time kind of helps ease the stinging sensation. I've seen good progress so far with my hair growing less and slower in the areas I've received treatment so it is definitely worth it! Since their location is right on market street, parking can be a little tough. I advise coming extra early to make sure you give yourself time to find parking and walk over. read more

I previously posted about a less than stellar experience and Ariel the customer relations manager reached out over multiple channels to apologize and make things right. I have had two sessions since then and my experiences have all been great. There was one time my appointment got cancelled day of, ~2 hours before but I was able to easily rebook online for the next week. The small hiccups don't deter me from going back, the sessions are super quick and professional so if you've been on the fence, just do it and you won't regret it. I'm almost done with my first package and the results are great, I have dark hair with light skin so there is good contrast for the laser. They will always test the settings first so you can adjust. There is aloe gel available to apply afterwards but I haven't really needed it. SEV is completely upfront and transparent with their reasonable pricing (get the Groupon package if available), unlike other laser hair removal companies. As a bonus it always smells nice in the waiting room, I need to get their candle! read more

I'm updating my original review because after trying different laser hair removal options over the years, I came back to SEV in the end for the price and convenience. My main complaint is just that they're inconsistent. Sometimes, I get a great nurse who's very communicative and thorough. Other times, the nurse doesn't talk to me at all, uses a seemingly random laser setting, and misses patches, and I feel that those treatments are much less effective. Because of this, it takes more sessions at SEV to achieve the same results that I've seen going to other places--but those places are double the price or more. As SEV said in their response to my previous review, I needed more than 6 sessions to achieve long term results, and that's not really SEV's fault. I've been using SEV over a year now. I initially found them through groupon and purchased a package through there. You can also purchase with them directly and get 1 free session for every 5 you buy. Other than that they don't seem to do many sales or packages but the prices are competitive for what you'd pay at other clinics. I find that they're not the best at answering phones or calling back if you request one. I did have to call a few times before I was able to reach someone to book, but once I got in the system it was smooth sailing. Got a quick call with the NP, then after that you sign some paperwork over emails. When you show up for the appointment, it's usually about 5-15 min wait. Every nurse I've had a session with are lovely. The first time I got laser hair removal I was surprised that it's so quick and painless (feels a bit like needle pricks or many little rubber band snaps). They usually start at a lower setting then go up for more effectiveness once you build up a tolerance. The fan helps a lot and they have aloe for you right after the treatment. I saw results quickly from the first session but they did let me know that's not how everyone experiences it. You don't get to pick the nurse you work with, which I kind of wish you could have some consistency there. Overall I think for the results and great price, SEV is a solid option. For a free consultation, I was asked to fill out 7 consent forms - these are extremely long forms, btw. When I was told via text (one hour prior to my appointment) that I made a mistake and had to do them again, I asked what that meant and was told that I "did not use [my] legal name" which felt so ambiguous. Did they think my name was "Edward" instead of "Eddie"? When I called in for help, the person helping me was also confused by what was communicated to me and then clarified that I used my emergency contact's name on sheet one and needed to redo only sheet one. HOWEVER- that did not stop them from saying "it looks like we don't have a credit card on file for you." And hinted needing a credit card number. TLDR: A free consultation should not require signing waivers as if a procedure will be done; especially not all 7. I've been calling Sev Laser for the past 2 weeks to schedule my last appointment laser hair removal appointment. Every single time, there's always a wait to speak with a representative so I opt for a call back. I've called at least 5 different times, checked that my phone number is correct and waited for a call back but never got one. Today, I finally just stayed on the line until someone could help me schedule my appointment. The person who took my call just brushed me off when I told her I've been having trouble reaching them. No, "sorry for your inconvenience" or "we'll look into it", just an "OK"-- gave an excuse about it being a call center and you could have tried other ways to reach us. What's the point of having a call back system/call center if you're not going to call anyone back? I recently called Laseraway to inquire about their services but hung up while it was ringing because something came up and I would call back later. I never updated my review after finishing my 6 sessions. It's been about four months since then. I've got to say that you most definitely will need more than six sessions to see permanent results. My hair does grow out thin now so it's easy to maintain. Out of all the areas that I got done, my legs were where I saw the biggest improvement. My lower legs grow the least amount of hair now, while the top of my thighs have a lot more. Same with my underarms, I have thin hair but wish it were less. I didn't see much of an improvement on the Brazilian area sadly and that was what I was looking forward to the most. In conclusion, I'm happy that I did it.
