Yesterday, I was in need of some Coconut oil as well as Tea Tree oil. Seavananda was recommended to me when I first moved to Atlanta but I hadn't had a reason to go there just yet. Instead of driving to Trader Joes, I decided to support this co-op and shopped at Sevananda for the first time. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Mike (who I am assuming might have been the manager on duty). He helped me find several different brands of Tea Tree oil before leaving me to explore the rest of the store on my own. I appreciated the full-stocked and organized shelves, the great customer service as well as the product selection itself. It felt like I was at a neighborhood spot but with all the comforts you'd regularly find in a grocery store. I will definitely be back for some of the custom soaps and herbal remedies that I saw but didn't get a chance to really look through. read more

I've read the reviews and most are all very good. It's good that others are still having good experiences. I've shopped here about 5 to 9 times, and my experiences were pretty good in the past. I ask questions when I need to and really scrutinize labels, as I have food sensitivities/allergies. This trip I still experienced SOME polite and respectful staff. Unfortunately, I experienced some rude staff too. Upon exiting, I reviewed my bill and noticed they charged me for a food item separately instead of by the pound (rolls), which had never occurred. I re-entered the store and went to what looked like customer service to inquire to make sure I was charged correctly, as the man who served the food did not inform me that the cost was separate and I did not see anything posted. I must admit, with all the questions I usually ask when I am spending my money, I did not think to ask the cost of the item. As I stood waiting my turn, the black woman with short, natural, curly hair on the register very obviously appeared to be talking about me. She turned to the security guard a few times and I heard her saying, "Don't nobody got time for this" or "I don't have time for this," and "I don't have any answers for you." It seemed she was referring to me as I was the only one who obviously had a question, since I had just re-entered, had bagged groceries, and was holding my receipt. I am always very polite. Usually I am, unfortunately, more polite than people working in customer service. By this, I mean I am usually the one who says "hello," "please," and "thank you," even though they do not. But I had not even made it to the counter yet. While she did not have an attitude when she explained that it is their policy/custom to charge for the item, I felt uncomfortable because of the comments I heard her project earlier. I did not hear everything she said, but it was like some things she said softly on purpose, and other things she did not quite mind if I heard. At the end she did not say, "thank you," and fortunately I did not either, as I have been re-training myself not to be so polite (so I won't be offended when I have more customer service skills than employees). This may sound silly, but I do not like to be made to feel uncomfortable because I have a question about my money. This was after standing in a long line that exceeded the length of the grocery aisle because only two registers were open. The second register, where the rude woman was stationed, was for 10 items or less. Fortunately, they eventually opened one more register/check-out lane. In the past there are usually more open registers. With breathing problems unrelated to COVID, standing in such a long line with a mask is already very difficult for me. And the anxiety it causes just exacerbates things. Had I known the line would be so long, I would have shopped on a different day. The rude woman definitely got her point across. Next time I will just shop at Whole Foods. read more

I have been shopping at Sevananda since the 1980s when it was at its old location in an old grocery store. It has always been the best of its kind in Atlanta. (there are a couple of other similar places I frequent that are closer to my house,but none of them have quite the selection. I have to make the trip here to find those special items only they have.) Listen! I dont know who the chef is in the kitchen but when I tell you I have had some of the best VEGAN DISHES OF MY LIFE THIS WEEK!! I hate I use to walk by the hot bar anytime I came here cause I thought I wouldn't like the food! Not matter what I got this week it was Always SWANGING! I'm going to do my best to remain objective here: I view Sevananda as less egalitarian then i'd guess they'd like to be viewed. i find their prices above what is necessary. i realize they are charging more to offset costs of providing a decent wage to employees. this is a simple economics balance that all business' have to manage. that is one reason i don't find it worthwhile to shop there. more; why don't they carry meat? is there a political agenda here? i don't like supporting political agendas unknowingly. i think it would be safe to say that unprocessed foods are generally better for our well-being in many many ways. likely this is part of their brand positioning. to me there is not enough value in supporting their concept. i would suppose that if they carried meat ir would add much value to their concept or significantly impact their revenue in a positive way. perhaps it would do just the opposite. maybe "vegans" would stop shopping there if they veered from the "vegan" political/fashion agenda. (no doubt this is going to cause some reactons) i can dig that. if that supports their business model, more power to them. but there is an underlying problem. much of what they sell can be found elsewhere for a lower price. why do stores that carry "well-being" products have to rely upon such an unfair message? I just want good fresh food and quality, reasonably priced products. why is it that they can't just be a store that carries a predominant selection of products that are presented as being something other than just plain old good stuff that does not support non-conscientous big business or over-overprocessed? i beleive it is political and trendy and ultimately an empty promise. i prepare food everyday that is absolutely unprocessed and good for me. if i bought the ingredients from sevenanda, i would have easily paid a 15-20% premium for the same ingredients. what am i paying for? in the end, sevananda is really disappointing on many levels. i first and foremost support my budget, my body and my taste buds. those are my personal criteria. did i mention that like the dekalb farmer's market, sevananda smells really bad? i am now stepping down from the ill-appointed pulpit read more

I was visiting Atlanta and decided to visit this place I had been to many times in the past. First thing you notice when you drive up is some ghetto spray paint on the wall facing Sevananda. Not withstanding the somewhat annoying parking arrangements of the store. Sevananda is actually a very well stocked Organic/Natural Food Store, a little pricey, but they have a lot of hard to find supplements/treatments especially products from independent vendors, interesting books, and minor amounts of spiritual supplies like incense and candles etc. The hot prepared food and cold prepared foods are quite good and tasty. They have a decent sized produce section, I have never bought any their produce so I cannot comment on it. The inside is not over crowded layers of products or claustrophobic in the aisles, it can be a pleasant shopping experience until you check out. This place is hippy heaven, there is also a strong presence of angry vegans with superiority complexes. Sevananda also has a good sprinkling of "Super Hippies" whom I thought were relegated to the San Francisco Bay Area who can talk non-stop all day and all night. I believe they are getting some kind of tax credit for hiring "ghetto people" because I have noticed there are a few socially inadequate appearing people with oddly shaped body and facial features who work here. There is this one dude serving the cooked food in the back who had his pants waist almost down to his knee's, I thought he was some kind of rapper or gang member. Lastly I do not want to see socially inadequate ghetto people especially in these kind of establishments, nor do I want to stand in the check-out line for 20 minutes behind 3 people while the "Super Hippies" who work at the register have 10 minute detox or "Vegan angry at the world" conversations with everyone they are checking out. But this is a gem of a store if you are trying to find hard to find items and if you want to support products from independent vendors. PS take a gander in the parking area, you might see one or two Scooby-doo vans with painted flowers and peace symbols that the Hippies drive, it does make a nice picture. read more

I wish there were more places like Sevananda... it's a great place to go to when you are being a lazy vegan and don't want to cook! They have a hot bar right up front with veg/vegan entrees (depends on the time of day- mostly 9 am to 6 pm, times vary) and a great brunch on Sundays. But in three other places in the store they have lots of ready to eat/heat up food that is amazing! The tempeh jerk sandwich and the vegan BLT are great cold for on the go...but if you are very lucky Andy's vegan lasagna will be there and you need to buy as many as you can afford!! But don't microwave it in the provided plastic container! It will melt faster than the vegan cheese (yes, this has happened to me.) I love being an owner/member of the Sevananda co-op... for $20 a year you can be a member and get a 10% discount once every month (your choice of when you want to use it), on top of every day discounts on food (like being a Kroger card member but cooler.) they also have this great program where if you bring in your own bag to take your food home they will either enter you into a monthly contest to get a gift card to Sevananda, or they will deduct some change from your overall sale- I think they are still trying to perfect this whole bring-your-own bag thing so when you get there with your own bag ask questions. Besides on-the-go food, they have a wide variety of frozen and non-perishable food, fresh produce, great granola (I am not a hippie but I love that stuff in vegan yogurt!), and all the vitamins you could ever need. Become a member now! Support your local co-op! *Word to the wise, though- DO NOT get the pre-made sandwiches and wraps unless you really like eating lettuce stems, because they are 90% lettuce stem and 10% filling, blech. read more

A grocery store after my own heart...just a couple of miles away from the house and it's a vegetarians' paradise! Sevananda is a co-op grocery store that is fully vegetarian. They have a great selection of dried foods, herbs, supplements, juices, prepared foods, vegetarian and vegan condiments and veg-friendly frozen foods. Now, their produce section could use some improvements. The product is a little old and not too inventive. But since I don't frequent Sevananda for my fruit and veggie fix (Whole Foods and Trader Joe's), for me....Sevananda's immense value lies in its prepared foods section. There are 3 types of prepared foods : The first is a hot bar with about 5 dishes. The theme changes daily...Southern, African, Italian. You pay by the pound. The food is generally all vegan and rather tasty. The second is sandwiches and wraps.....mock chicken salad sandwiches, mock turkey subs...I have never really partook in their sandwich/wrap fare but they sure do look good. Now the third is where I adore Sevananda....it's packaged prepared food. There's wonderful options like freshly made butternut squash hash, African red beans and rice, Seitan Stroganoff, Crab Cakes, Ginger Tempeh Pasta (my personal fav!), Pad Thai, Oreo cheesecake, Lemon Bars and cupcakes! This is my Utopia. I buy like five dishes and mix and match the options to comprise my lunches! Btw, everything mentioned above is vegan and is wonderful! And that is why I love thy so. read more

Happy veggies, unite! Sevananda is a natural foods store and co-op in the heart of Little Five Points. This spot is a go-to when we're looking for delicious vegetarian and vegan specialty foods. Staff are always friendly and helpful. There are quite a lot of dry goods to choose from, including those hard to find grains that are so good for you. The grocery section is well stocked with all kinds of food. I've also noticed folks purchasing quite a bit of stuff from the deli as well. If for no other reason than to expand your horizons and experience some food that's outside the norm, you should join the flower children and check out Sevananda. read more

There is a great African peanut soup that is flavorful, a great entree everything and a shot of wheat grass juice made to order goes a very long way. Sevananda is right around the corner from our house and has a ton of variety for the health-seeking or health-curious individual. For those who care what is put into their food or perhaps foodstuffs with less additives, preservatives, and/or dyes, this is a great place to pick up some essentials. Some good things to pick up/look for: Cereals Lentils Dried items Vegan/Vegetarian foods Daiya Amazing dairy-free frozen desserts Juices Recently came in to score some salsas and daiya cheese for dinner. They have great varieties. It has the feel of a Whole Foods, but on a much more approachable and less-busy scale. Sevananda is also a co-op. It was a month of raw vegan eating for a reason I can't recall and I couldn't sprout another thing without wanting to claw my eyes out. So I came here and man, was that a good pick; they had a whole raw vegan section- already prepared, so it's quick. It's pretty much a store of everything I would want for food, as a vegetarian and lover of eating things that are good. And the checkout folks are all so pretty and so zen. How did I never stop in this place before? Sevananda was a 'stop on errands day' to pick up bits and pieces of dinner, or in our case, veggie mac and cheese but it turned into an introduction to all natural/organic shopping. One of the coolest parts of Sevananda is on the far wall from the entrance to the store that has several dry mixes for soups, chilli or even cereals, nuts, etc,. I scored a southwestern 32 bean soup dry mix i'm dying to try! Another great hit to me was their wall of teas that was pretty impressive. Even if you're not there to pick up groceries, there's a hot area, similar to a deli, to order/pick up hot meals, which change per day, so grab a snack while you shop. Beyond foods, there are all natural cleaning supplies and even treats for your pets, which I picked up a bag for my dog. If there's a gripe, it's that the parking can be tight, but that's true about each location in this area. This is one store i'm pretty interested in updating my review for because I really didn't see as much of this store as I would like and already know my review isn't doing it justice yet, but I encourage you to stop in if you're in the area and check it out. read more

If you haven't been here, just know...this place is pretty awesome. If you are a foodie, hipster, hippy, naturalista, rasta, muslim, veg-head, etc. this place is def. for you. I like the fact that it is a community owned business. They have healthy, organic, unique finds. They have a vegetarian bar and cuisine, with awesome breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The service is ALWAYS friendly. It's hardly ever crowded, which beats going to Whole Foods Market which would be their closest competitor in the area. It's more organized than going to Rainbow Foods in Decatur, GA - which can be incredibly tight and confusing if you aren't used to shopping there. The worst part, by far, is the parking. It's located in little five points, and during rush hour traffic...it is horrible. Trying to make a left turn out of the parking lot is almost impossible. It's relatively cheaper and perfect for if you're a solo traveler who like to cook. This is one of my favorite places in Atlanta. I feel good about what I've bought when I go out. The staff is INCREDIBLY helpful in answering any questions I can come up with. They have great herbs, fantastic food, a huge variety of earth friendly products, and everyone is see in there is nice and happy. Background: I stopped yelping for about six months in protest for getting kicked off Elite for not yelping for the previous six months. I didn't realize people got kicked off Elite mid-year, ouch! But it's just as well. I admit that I cannot devote the time to Yelp that I used to be able to do. Now that it's 2012 and I have decidedly earned my non-Elite status by yelping exactly once in 2011, I suppose I can continue with occasional yelps. So what got me to break my yelp pseudoboycott? Well, I went raw for this month, and I saw that there was a raw food restaurant that had not yet been yelped. I went there and did so. Then I read back through some of my old yelp reviews, and laughed at the memories. I went through my inbox and I even had my first piece of hate mail from one of my reviews! Elite or no, yelp is a nice place to "blog" and keep your experiences forever. I now feel inspired enough to yelp a "raw foods" list, and Sevananda is at the top of it. I was vegetarian before I went raw, and I live a mile south of little 5, so how could I have never been to Sevananda before last year?! It has an amazing hot bar, with yummy vegan versions of comfort food favorites. All its produce is organic. It has rennet-free cheeses. It is little and cute and a co op. It makes you feel good to shop there! And it is probably your best shot in the city for a raw foods diet. It has a small shelf of raw prepared foods including kale chips, raw granola, flax snacks, raw ginger snaps, etc. This shelf is not much but it is more than I have found anywhere else. It has a very large bulk section with lots of raw nut options and what my boyfriend and I call "strange cubes" made out of cacao and coconut and some other substances. It's like raw fudge, I guess. 4 stars instead of 5 only because of something that is unfortunately probably out of its control - its prices are quite steep. Too steep to ignore. For example, 2 vanilla beans at Kroger = $3, 1 vanilla bean at Sevananda = $5. read more

I trek it all the way from Duluth to come here because this place has the weirdest, most obscure, diet specific items available and I love it. Granted, there are regular things as well like bulk organic rice, beans, cereal, etc., but as a zero waste minimalist, it's just up my alley. I come in here every two weeks or so with my glass mason jars, cloth bags, and reusable grocery bags. I buy in bulk, never use the bags recommended or write down the numbers on paper (i use my phone's notepad) and check out with no problem. These people don't even bat an eye when I hand over my containers and start giving weight and bin numbers from my phone. The herbs are loose and also bulk style, which fits well with our shopping style. They cater well to the average consumer as well as the more conscious consumer. It's wonderful. *sigh* read more

Be aware that there are many prepared foods that are very spicy so if you're sensitive to this, ask. There is a unique earthy smell in the store. I was first introduced to Sevananda by my mother, who swears by this Natural Food Co-Op in Little Five Points. This cute little market is right up her alley, being a natural/hippie type. She's probably here at least once per week. For me, I've been here a handful of times, with mom, and we usually leave with nuts/seeds/grains, raw prepared foods, oils, Shea Butter, etc. I have yet to try the "much raved about" Hot Food Bar. Also, I haven't ventured past the usual staples we tend to buy. At some point, I will just browse the aisles and try some of the vegan treats. The store has personality and the items we purchased have been good. The customer service has been terrific as well. Despite these pluses, I don't quite see myself becoming a regular. The parking is nightmarish and I tend to prefer Farmers Markets. However, definitely a Must Try if you haven't been and/or are Vegan, Vegetarian or Health Conscious. Happy Eating! read more

I like Sevananda overall, but that's mostly because I am committed to shopping at locally-owned businesses whenever possible, and a local co-op gives me the liberal warm fuzzies. They have a pretty good selection of hippie food, but the prices... oh, the prices! So expensive! And frankly, they don't stock as much local merchandise as those corporate whores at Whole Foods - how is that possible? Why don't they carry Johnson's dairy, or Zocalo's salsa, or local meat and veg? I'm not into alt-med, so I can't say much about the enormous apothecary section, but I suppose if you like faux science, there's something there for you. I plan to join the co-op soon - shares are currently $100, and you can pay at $20/year - doesn't get much more reasonable than that. A working membership with 3 hours service a week gets you a 20% discount - that would be great option for someone who had the time and/or knowledge to staff the store. Should you shop at Sevananda? Yes, if you support local economies, communities, and co-ops. Could Sevananda be more appealing? Yes, if they looked harder at pricing and included more local food. read more

The name says it all. Sevananda is from two Sanskrit words, Seva (service) and Ananda (joy, or bliss), so the name means "Joy of Service". I find joy at Sevananda daily. I love being a member/owner of the co-op. It feels good to be apart of a community that stands for health and supporting local organic farmers and businesses. Saving 10% each month brings me joy as well. The employees are very friendly and make the environment feel like home. All of the produce and salad bar is organic and makes my shopping trip easier. I love checking out and sampling the soup of the day. The wellness department and bulk section is impressive. They even carry my dog's Wysong food at a great price! Sev is continually providing education and value to the community through their articles in Co-options (monthly newspaper), in-store wellness fairs and demos, classes offered through the School Of CommonHealth (yoga, cooking and journaling) and support local non-profits. They even have a radioshow and you can listen to the podcasts on their website. I am proud to be a member/owner, supporter, customer, friend and partner with Sevananda. Taste the Joy! read more

I have been trying to get to Sevananda for some time now. I am glad to have made the trip with my daughter and good friend. I am a home cook and love to entertain. Upon entering the store I immediately wanted to follow the scent of good food. Every aisle was very clean and organized. The food not only smelled good but looked and tasted amazing. I was able to pick up a few candles that I drove around the city looking for just weeks prior. I will definitely continue making trips to this gem of a coop grocer. I try to support local businesses and Sev is one of those places. I will normally stop in and check their sales. If you eat meat replacements, their prices are usually in line with Kroger and Publix. I am more than happy to give that money to Sev. They have a bulk section of granolas, lentils, snacks, herbs and other healthy goodness. Their hot bar is quite tasty. They never miss on giving flavor to their food. I think I like the breakfast the best. Sev will sometimes post on facebook so you can see what they have for the day before you roll over there. I would have given them a higher mark as I really do love Sev and most of their employees but there is one lady there who I go out of my way to avoid. She's been there a while and her energy is horrible. She sucks. She takes the extra star off with her ill energy. It's too much to overlook. She needs an adjustment or a new job. read more

Others have already noted the expensive produce prices and point that Sevananda doesn't sell any meat (or fish) products. The bulk food's selection is one of a kind here, not just for Atlanta but for probably almost anywhere in the Southeast. You can bring your own jars or containers in, weigh it, and fill up food this way to not waste packaging. There's an incredible variety and prices are mostly very good in the bulk section. The same can be said for their spices section. A lot of the grocery and pre-packaged pricing is not bad and they believe in organic as a true concept, not just another label or sticker you put on a product. There's an incredible amount of organic options (not just natural, which doesn't really mean anything) and prices become more competitive when you actually are comparing apples to apples, pun intended. On the flip side, as the organic certification has lost some of it's original meaning by the USDA's watering down of standards, and as more "conventional" local food alternative (limited spray) options have emerged, it would be nice to see more affordable options in certain categories like produce. It doesn't seem easy for the average consumer to afford buying 100% of their groceries here. A few others have mentioned the cooperative/community aspect. This is the main reason I shop there. Besides the run down Daily Groceries Co-op in Marietta, there's nothing like Sevananda for miles and miles and miles. Becoming a member, or member-owner, means you can just show up as a new person in town, as I did, and share ownership of this long-standing community institution. When I became a member they actually took the time to call me and welcome me to the community and let me know that my membership card was ready and available for pick up. I get 10% off every quarter and get to vote for the Board of Directors who create the vision for the business. I can also get an additional discount for volunteering a few hours a month in the store which is really cool and unique. They also have a charity every month where you can donate ("round up") your change when checking out. They even had a radio show promoting cooperatives at one time. You'll also notice that the shopper base is a very eclectic diverse group of people (the other day a police woman was shopping the bulk foods section next to me). Lastly, the customer service and friendliness of staff makes the Sev. experience unique and worthwhile. It's a rare thing to get people at Kroeger's or Publix who know your name and can tell you as much about their products as Sev. staff. read more

I've been a big fan of Sevananda for most of the 20 years I've been in Atlanta. A wide variety of veg/vegan fare, health and wellness products and one of the best bulk sections I've ever seen. That alone is a reason to visit. You can find just about any seasoning, herb or grain here. I do a lot of baking and come here for the gluten free AP flour. It's the best mix I've found (Bob's) in terms of the end product. They also have henna, bath salts and other goodies by the pound/ounce. A few things can get super pricey but you'll be hard pressed to find them elsewhere. Their weekend hot brunch bar is pretty good as well. I just decided that with my 20th anniversary in Atlanta, I will make it a 2015 goal to review at least 20 institutions of the city. This is #1. #IconicATL20 read more

Y'all know I'm cheap. However, I stop in here with some frequency. A lot of stuff here is spendy, but you can get around it. First of all, go for the bulk stuff instead of the prepared/packaged goods. Just need a little bit of teff? This is a good spot to hit. The prices in the produce section give me chills, but make sure to stop by the garden seed rack. I scored a bunch of heirloom tomato seeds for my dad's garden, which made for a very tasty summer that year. The local tofu is always a good buy, and they had a really good price on tempeh for most of this past summer. I also have a lot of love for the wall o' herbs. My home spice rack is insane, but sometimes I get hold of a recipe that calls for something I've never heard of. Sevananda usually has it, and I only wind up having to buy about $0.25 worth. If you're looking for something specific and obscure, do some homework before you come here; the folks working there aren't always that helpful or that polite. That said, I'm still glad this place is around. read more

Very very yummy hot bar and the cold, premade stuff is yummy. I concur that the stroganof is so delicious. Really my favorite thing so far. They have a small little section of raw food, like raw coconut yogurt- very good. I agree that great deals can be found in the bulk section and you can recycle your container. bring that container in, whatever it may be, have them preweigh it before filling it to get an accurate weight on the dry goods you are buying. The have an old fruit and veg section where you can get some pretty decent stuff at a discount. Just eat it or freeze it fast! I am also proud to be a member/owner here. This is a great place, nice atmosphere, great employees and interesting crowd of shoppers. As everyone else has said, they do not sell meat or alcohol. Their prepared food is vegan. I was excited to check this place out, but the Odor was too, too much for me. Not sure what it was - nature food, maybe ingredients, or body odor overload (it was a hot day)? Disclaimer: I'm sensitive to marijuana smell (or maybe it was just bo, or from unwashed hair). I'm not into hippie-ism or conforming to nonconformity/counter-culture, so that made the odor worse. So I am fasting from meat, since I'm going to dinner at Fogo in the next few days and was trying to figure out what to eat. I haven't been feeling so hot over the past two days and really needed some sort of juice to give me that pick me up and much needed vitamins and minerals that I am so lacking right now. Since I was already around Five Points, I thought I would give Sevananda a shot! It's definitely a mini-Whole Foods with more unique items! Not as much prepared foods as I would like but I found some interesting things. My friend Roxanne has always told me that Coconut Water does wonders with hydration so I bought 2 bottles. I also bought some sort of curry pasta and veggie spring rolls. Both were pretty tasty! Throw in a bag of rice cakes and a bottle of fizzy juice and I was out of there! The best thing is that since I brought my own bags, I got 0.05 cents off my tab! Yeah I know...its only 5 cents but anything to help out the environment is a plus! read more

First, allow me to offer my disclaimer. I am not a vegan, nor a vegetarian. I live 4 houses from Fox Bros BBQ and occasionally must devour their brisket. I was trying to find a better balance of food in my life, and i figured vegans had to be a pretty creative lot. They are, and I love Sevananda for its convenience and creativity. In the hot food bar, the weekend brunches are amazing.I've had their made-from-scratch vegan biscuits soysauge and gravy, and now regularly just destroy them. Its now in the back of the store and they have pre-made sandwiches, cookies, and bars on the lower racks. In the prepared cooler, they have a bunch of entrees and appetizers, depending on the day. We dig the Saitan Stroganoff, the Wild Rice and Herd Tofu Salad, and the Shepherds Pie. I also had a dessert that was bread (or Shmead I guess) pudding with raspberry - really good. They also have a great bulk section, with everything from local honies, grains, beans to italian rice (at great prices). Definitely worth a look if this is up your alley at all! read more

Sevananda is a unique addition to the Little Five Points area. I've been stopping in here for years for various items- vegan ice cream, vegan jerky, and all the other craveable items that vegans require. The entire market is vegetarian, so if you are looking for meat, keep moving. As of late, I have been really into their Sunday brunch. They always have good hot bar items, but Sundays are especially tasty. The usual run down includes biscuits, gravy, tofu scramble, soysage, and potatoes. They also have a good looking quiche but it is vegetarian while the other items are vegan. Some items at Sevananda are pricier than other natural food stores, but then again other items are more reasonable. I have found that I cannot buy produce from Sevananda. The prices are outrageous. The produce may be organic, may be local... but it's just too expensive. They have quite a selection of natural beauty products, vitamins, and supplements and these items all seem to be reasonably priced. It just depends on what you are looking for. If nothing more, Sevananda, like all places in Little Five Points is a great place to people watch! read more

The brunch is AMAZING. Beware the entire hot bar is not vegan. I made the mistake of taking a bite of cheesy quiche thinking it was faux. You must get the (vegan) cheesy grits, sausage, and biscuits with gravy for brunch. My girlfriend and I typically spend $10-$13 at the hot bar for brunch and that feeds both of us, which is pretty cheap. Whole foods would charge triple. Some things are bit pricey i.e. the body care. However the great selection of sale items more than makes up for it. I get my tofu here (best and cheapest from anywhere else- and locally processed), I get my tofutti cheese and now my daiya cheese here also. They also have a lot of raw food treats and vegan sweets. Everyone here is pretty dope! I enjoy coming here and shopping. Things can get pricey but worth it. The staff are amazing.

I have been shopping Sevananda for 11years and I have never had a problem..like the one I had last week. Upon approaching the store I was greeted by a 4ft 2inch security guard yelling at me saying "hey hey you need to wear a mask what are you doing" I kindly stated with a raised eyebrow... I have the right to be free and be me! And I don't want to wear a mask. He said with and attitude well you can't come in and you have to leave. I stated I'm not brainwashed so there for I will not leave! I need to get groceries. So he called a woman security guard over. Lol I stated thank you go ahead and call her . She comes and says what is the problem. He than gestures with his back hand and tells her this person don't want to wear a mask. Wow!!! As if I'm not a paying customer (human being)! She than says well ma'am you can cover with your scarf if you like instead of a mask. I kindly said thank you and walked my 6ft self past rude guy and said Napoleon complex much! Than he says see she talking about me I've been a shopper for 11years I'm not coming back since Sevananda thinks it's ok to take away constitutional rights!! read more

Sevananda is your one-stop shopping destination for all of your health food needs. Very vegan-friendly. This place offers up a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes at their deli. Try their vegan mac & cheese and seitan stroganoff, two of my favorites. They occasionally have vegan biscuits or cornbread too. For those vegans who are less into healthy foods, they also offer up a lot of delicious vegan and vegetarian desserts like peach cobbler and cinnamon rolls. Oh, and did I mention they have vegan "crab" cakes? Yum! read more

I was visiting the Atlanta for a week so decided to check out the local coop. I was welcomed with free parking and friendly staff. The shelves were not as stocked as I would like to see. A number of bulk items were out of stock including one of the things I specifically came to purchase. They need more inventory. The prices were very good compared to Whole Foods. Because I couldn't complete my shopping at the coop, I went to Whole Foods right after and compared prices. I figured I saved at least 25% at the coop. read more
