Sevananda is a unique addition to the Little Five Points area. I've been stopping in here for years for various items- vegan ice cream, vegan jerky, and all the other craveable items that vegans require. The entire market is vegetarian, so if you are looking for meat, keep moving. As of late, I have been really into their Sunday brunch. They always have good hot bar items, but Sundays are especially tasty. The usual run down includes biscuits, gravy, tofu scramble, soysage, and potatoes. They also have a good looking quiche but it is vegetarian while the other items are vegan. Some items at Sevananda are pricier than other natural food stores, but then again other items are more reasonable. I have found that I cannot buy produce from Sevananda. The prices are outrageous. The produce may be organic, may be local... but it's just too expensive. They have quite a selection of natural beauty products, vitamins, and supplements and these items all seem to be reasonably priced. It just depends on what you are looking for. If nothing more, Sevananda, like all places in Little Five Points is a great place to people watch! read more

The brunch is AMAZING. Beware the entire hot bar is not vegan. I made the mistake of taking a bite of cheesy quiche thinking it was faux. You must get the (vegan) cheesy grits, sausage, and biscuits with gravy for brunch. My girlfriend and I typically spend $10-$13 at the hot bar for brunch and that feeds both of us, which is pretty cheap. Whole foods would charge triple. Some things are bit pricey i.e. the body care. However the great selection of sale items more than makes up for it. I get my tofu here (best and cheapest from anywhere else- and locally processed), I get my tofutti cheese and now my daiya cheese here also. They also have a lot of raw food treats and vegan sweets. Sevananda is your one-stop shopping destination for all of your health food needs. Very vegan-friendly. This place offers up a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes at their deli. Try their vegan mac & cheese and seitan stroganoff, two of my favorites. They occasionally have vegan biscuits or cornbread too. For those vegans who are less into healthy foods, they also offer up a lot of delicious vegan and vegetarian desserts like peach cobbler and cinnamon rolls. I tried to return an item and after waiting about 15 minutes for someone to come to the customer area a long line formed. Once the guy returned I was talking with him and the woman behind me started screaming at me "you can't return open items" and almost attacked me when I told her to mind her own business. I was visiting the Atlanta for a week so decided to check out the local coop. I was welcomed with free parking and friendly staff. The shelves were not as stocked as I would like to see. A number of bulk items were out of stock including one of the things I specifically came to purchase. They need more inventory. The prices were very good compared to Whole Foods. Because I couldn't complete my shopping at the coop, I went to Whole Foods right after and compared prices. I figured I saved at least 25% at the coop. read more

I used to be a regular here, back when i thought I was cool. At least now I know I'm not. We were able to find alot of things here that weren't available in the "regular" grocery store (this was circa 1988-90). I loved getting food from the deli and their smoothies were great. This co-op was seriously impressive. When I walked in, I was greeted by a woman doing a raw food demo. The walnut "taco meat" samples she was handing out were delicious! I love that Sevananda has a discount cart where you can get all sorts of awesome stuff on the cheap. I really wanted the organic pasta sauce but didn't feel like carrying that heavy jar with me. I did go with the organic peanut butter puff cereal for half price - score! What most impressed me was the bulk teas, herbs, and spices section. Many food co-ops have bulk spices but I've never seen bulk beet powder (great for red/purple coloring) or Irish moss. What a find! This will go down as one of my favorite co-ops ever. :) read more

The first time I went to Sevananda I immediately realized I was going to be a sad Sally when I went back to Cleveland... because there is no Sevananda there. Not only do they have all the organic, vegan and health-conscious food fare you want (and a hot bar to boot), they also have a killer health section where they provide supplements, organic and homeopathic remedies, and the employees have always been helpful and kind, even when I ask eight hundred questions. Some other big plusses that set it apart from chain health food stores like Whole Foods: it's a co-op, so it's owned and run by members of the community, and benefits the community. Also, the prices are often lower than chain stores, so yahoo for them! They will take a lot of your recycling, and the community board they have set up is full of local info, classes and community activities. The best thing about the place, though, is how all of its great qualities combine to create the overall atmosphere. It truly is a down-to-Earth, homey and friendly neightborhood establishment, which in my book makes it less of a chore to shop, but more of a community experience. Well done, Sevananda. read more

My husband and I were looking for a vegan lunch on a Sunday, and this was one of the few vegan places that showed up on Yelp that had both excellent reviews and was open. And it didn't disappoint. Sevananda is a coop, but anyone can shop there. We went because of the reviewed hot bar, which was smaller than I expected (based on reviews), but everything on it was amazing. The cold prepared foods we got were amazing as well. There is a small sitting area by the front door with a microwave, if you need it. Now that I'm back home, I'm already missing twice-baked potatoes, macaroni and "cheese" and key lime pie. I'll be sure to go back next time I'm in town. read more

After living and working in little 5 points for over 3 years, and shopping at Sevananda almost every day, I can honestly say I love this place. Super-friendly staff, wide selection of vegan/vegetarian goodies, a yummy hot bar, great prepackaged meals and a nice selection of organic produce, nuts and grains, vitamins and holistic medicine, books and magazines and lots of drinks to choose from. The hot bar and salad bar is my fav, love their brunch options...gotta try the spelt biscuits with gravy and their tofu veggie scramble. Their hot soups are some of the best, must have their African peanut soup or their corn chowder, amazing. Their prepackaged meals are a great choice for a quick lunch or dinner, love the mushroom stroganoff, the tofu tender wrap and the tofu enlightenment salad with crackers and hot sauce...yum. Their premade desserts are okay, not a big fan of the vegan cakes/cupcakes but their pies and cookies are always good. Also a big fan of their large selection of arden's garden fresh juices. Was my breakfast choice many mornings. They have good sales most days, and have alot of grains, nuts, herbs and other stuff in bulk. Great place for nutritional yeast flakes if you are having a hard time finding this ingredient. Amazing chocolate covered almonds! My only complaint is the parking lot, a bit small and hard to maneuver around, and their sitting area is small, wish they had a separate dining are like Rainbow natural foods does. I give this place a 3 star. Why? Well dont get me wrong, I luv that I can go there and get vegetables that are TRULY ORGANIC but the parking is HORRIBLE. Though they have their own parking lot, it is small and tight and if there is no parking then u are up the creek. I'm an omnivore. Sevananda has so much variety of healthy, delicious food that I can always find something nutritious and fun to eat.

There is no reason for me to shop here for groceries, because it makes no sense to me to make a stop in two places so i can get my animal products. I shop at Your Dekalb's Farmers Market and when I need Shea Butter and perhaps, some organically engineered health supplements, I swing over. I only shop here for the Shea Butter and health supplements.You would have to kill me before I ever go vegetarian ( let alone vegan) being that it not acceptable whatsoever to expect all those goats and cows to eat themselves ,so I was a bit shocked that they charge so much for produce. I guess when you are part of the co-op, then you get that little percentage savings. The staff is very attentive, and the grains section is pretty well stocked. After individually eating about 250,000 calories today, and that's probably wishful thinking, me and my gluttonous side kick decided that what we needed was a quick cleanse in the form of some Kombucha and maybe some Arden's Garden PH solution. Problem was....every natural market around was closed, but not Sevananda....which closes at 10pm. YAY!!! We were able to start our so called "lifestyle change" immediately, which will probably keep us from meeting up tomorrow for another mad caloric frenzy. What I love love love most about Sevananda, aside from the late hours, are the amazingly helpful and friendly staff. We went in for some fancy drinks, and got a whole host of info on treating winter dry skin, getting better sleep, and the benefits of cold showers....Love it. Seriously. Starting the first of the year, I am going to embrace healthy living, and yoga, and meditation. Really. I am. My Tuesday night at Sevananda was the catalyst. read more

I was overcharged buying the 5 gallon water by at least $20. I didn't notice until I looked at my bank account later an saw $42.57 charged to me for water that's $11 each and I bought 2. So this store clearly got some shady shit going on and I'm definitely not coming back. read more

I wish Atlanta had more places like Sevananda. While I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, I've known plenty of them who are frequently bummed about the lack of shopping options to choose from. It's basically Sevananda or bust for them. It's the one place they feel absolutely sure of. I use Sevananda for a quick bite from the hot bar or to pick up hard to find ingredients when cooking for my friends. You could spend half the time of your trip to Sevananda looking at the community board: great information and very useful. I also use Sevananda for my recycling center. I'm one of those cheapskates that doesn't want to pay Dekalb County $15 to have my recycling picked up, so I load up the Jeep once a week to take all of it to Sevananda. They take pretty much every type of recyclable you can think of. read more

This was my first experience here and even though I am an carnivore, I really liked alot of the vegan/veggie options I had my eye on that black bean soup mix they serve by the pound. Employees are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Always a Plus in my book. Prices are reasonable. Healthier options are normally not as inexpensive as junk. So I get it. read more

I went by here recently to pick something up and as per usual their less than stellar staff was so blatantly disinterested in helping me locate it that I just walked out. This store has hands down the unfriendliest crew I've ever experienced. I live in the neighborhood and I am a big believer in supporting small local businesses versus a a chain store but the lack of customer service is a deal breaker for me. They have a great variety of groceries and prepared foods and the location is good but I won't be stepping foot in here again. read more

Such a pleasant place to shop. Great selection. Friendly staff, not the most efficient but definitely friendly; I have to remember not to go in when I am in a hurry. This is our primary grocery store and we are very pleased to have such a great option in the city! While most things are safe, be sure to still read the labels and learn about the companies behind them. Unfortunately, there are still Con-Agra and Monsanto products abound in the store along with other evil businesses hidden behind your favorite organic suppliers. This place has to be Vegan Heaven if there is such a place... It is a grocery store and mostly (mostly) everything in the market is Vegan Friendly... so with that being said please make sure that you read & read again lol! The staff are great as well and are very knowledgable and helpful. They have a hot bar (I did not try, but I do follow them on Instagram and their items look really good). The only con (hence only 4 stars given) about Sevananda is the park lot.... A nightmare!! Please nice people... Put your lovely heads together and come up with a better plan for the parking lot nightmare. And before I dip... I would like to touch in the many reviews I've read about how expensive Sevananda is... All I have to say is... I am just happy it exists. It's a great resource for natural remedies, bulk items, condiments and dairy. All the items are vegetarian and are researched with scrutiny by the general manager Steve to be humanely and of best quality. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Hot bar usually has 6 items to choose for lunch or an early dinner. Community bulletin board can be an invaluable resource for housing, seminars and neighborhood happenings. read more

I love shopping at this place! The co-op is so well organized and clean. They have everything I need from soy ice cream to ginger tea. Whenever I want organic fruits or vegetables I come here. I also like seeing familiar faces at the cashiers who smile and make small conversation. I always feel like I am going to set off the organic ex-ray when I walk into this place since I don't eat 100% organic. I like this store and the fact that it is community owned and operated. I do have to admit that generally I am going home when I think about going to Sevenanda and I don't like the left hand turn I'd have to make to get into or out of the parking lot. I find that this is my favorite spot to pick up vitamins and other health items. I've tried the brands available at Kroger and Whole Foods and they don't hold a candle to some of the ones only found in Savenanda. Price wise I never pay attention to whether this place is expensive compared to my other shopping choices. It has been years since I lived in Atlanta. Last week, I went back for a long overdue visit. I was so happy to see some of my favorite places are still around and thriving. As my sister and I made our way to the deli, we hear, "peace and blessings" from one of the employees. That is something one doesn't even hear in California. The selection of goods is excellent, and, the variety of raw foods and hot deli items is great considering how small the store is compared to Whole Foods, etc.... I sooo dig this little grocery store. It's no where near as trendy as Whole Foods, but the selection is of high quality and impressive. I first discovered Kombucha tea and delicious almond milk here, and I've purchased the best vitamin supplements and herbal teas EVER!!! No pretension here!! just good healthy selections. read more

Fresh organic vegetables, a large selection of vegetarian food options, a huge health and beauty section, this food co-op has quite a bit...except for one thing no meat. I enjoy dropping in for specialty foods but do the bulk of my grocery shopping elsewhere. If you are vegetarian or vegan, this place is definitely for you. read more
