Solid Chinese food in Laguna Niguel next to Whole Foods. You can kill two birds with one stone! Servers are friendly and courteous. Always filling up our waters without even asking. Love that! I had the hit garlic shrimp that was very tasty and full of flavor. Not spicy at all. Wife had the sweet and sour shrimp bu she enjoyed my dish more. Hot n sour soup was good as well and the egg roll was perfectly cooked and crunchy. Not soggy like some places. The inside dining area is small with a water fountain in the middle which sounds relaxing when it is on. Great lunch specials for every pallet. Will definitely come back.

Was really excited to find a local Chinese restaurant with a pretty good amount of Gluten Free options. We ordered the GF Orange chicken, GF Shrimp Curry and it came with white steamed rice. **We did call ahead to ask what they used to make their fried items gluten-free and they confirmed that it was cornstarch based. We were pleasantly surprised with the flavor of the food and crispiness of the orange chicken. The shrimp are well cooked in the onion and other veg in the curry were a great burst of color and flavor! The service was interesting, it had some comical moments (1) it seemed like the original individual who was attending to us maybe he was New as we had to repeat ourselves many times to him and then (2) the waitress who then served us definitely worked with "urgency" - it came off a bit pushy throughout the meal. While some interesting moments though staff was kind and all was well. The restaurant was clean and felt open and the seating was comfortable.

Fortune cookies served in sardine cans. Ew.

Dirty and gross. You walk in and it looks like a storage facility. Garbage, boxes, things piled up. The booths are sticky. The walls are dirty. The food is mediocre at best. Our fortune cookies were served in....drumroll....empty sardine cans! No joke. See picture. Will never return.

I just discovered this Gem through a food blogger that ranted about this local favorite. Located in Laguna Niguel conveniently next to Whole Foods, parking is spacious and plentiful. Interior decor boasts with old school authentic Chinese restaurant vibes. Service was great and I was impressed how the sweet lady memorized our order without hesitation. Food came out in a timely manner and tasted delicious and flavorful! Prices are great and the food portions were very generous. They have lunch specials as well and we will definitely be back!

Came here for lunch and had the shrimp with veggies came with soup the shrimp was abundant and the meal came out steaming hot. I would definitely come back as this was very fast and efficient service and all and all great experience.

I wasn't feeling well and my server spoke softly and helped me pick some soothing soup and guide me through the menu. Thank you! The fish pond in the center is truly an amazing add to the space! I love fish they balance and environment very well! My server I believe was ran? And Roger? I wasn't feeling weep and feel terrible as I may have their names wrong. But it was a Thursday Night at 8:15pm shift.

Great option for Chinese food. Tastes delicious. Service and food takes a very long time though. So don't come if you're in a rush. They get a ton of to go traffic so the people sitting and dining in have to wait and wait and wait. If you need an extra spoon or napkins, you might as well forget it since the server does not come by very often being that she's so busy. They should hire extra staff since they have a good clientele basis.

Met some friends for dinner at Peony on a Saturday evening before we went to a movie at the Rivian theater which is 2 doors down on pch. Our server was cookie, and he was fantastic. Attentive, cheerful, and pleasantly talkative. Offering menu and drink suggestions without being pushy or high pressure. We settled on 3 main dishes and rice. Everything was tasty. I think that the mushu pork was my favorite. My buddy's wife treated me so I can't speak to the prices but everything that I saw on the menu seemed to be reasonable. I'm looking forward to coming back and bringing my girlfriend to try Peony for herself. Also highly recommend Peony if you're going to an event at the Rivian theater. Parking in downtown Laguna beach is always going to be challenging. Unfortunately peony doesn't have its' own lot that I could see so street parking or parking off site and riding the trolley is going to be the best options.

I sat outdoors and got to enjoy live music. I am a bit of a mapo tofu snob so I ordered that and a strawberry mojito. The mojito was seriously delicious and very refreshing. The mapo tofu was vegetarian off the bat (yay!) and has a delicious, flavorful sauce. The tofu itself wasn't quite silken or soft enough... it seems like it was very slightly cooked on the outside, which is not how traditional mapo is made. I didn't love that texture personally. But anyway, great flavor and worth a stop! I'm sure their other dishes are great!

Interior: With a handful of tables/chairs and bar seating, it's considered small and casual. Based on the food and atmosphere, this place seems geared towards having people order to-go and delivery as you can eat their dishes family style. Food: My total take-out order came out to approximately $58 (without tip). I ordered enough for 3-4 people. It came with an extra side of rice. I would recommend getting a fried rice dish over a noodle (specifically the chow mein) dish due to taste or repetitive oily fats and heavy meat. Order variety of dishes for a better experience based on texture and savory. Ordered: Pork Chow Mein, Vegetable Fried Rice (could be better with smaller chunks of zucchini), Wonton Soup (small, tasted water down, wonton chips come separately but there's no big change in taste, the vegetable chunks doesn't blend together), and Orange Chicken (similar to other chicken with sweet and sour sauce). Overall, an average restaurant that gives you a good fix of Chinese food in the local area. The service is fast and the workers themselves are cordial and respectful. I wouldn't feel compelled to eat inside or take friends on a daily basis. Service: I was overall impressed with the fast service (my order took less than 15min to prepare for 4 dishes)

Glad we decided to try Redwood Social today, which is near the Mission SJC side. Don't get me wrong...it's not "cheap" either. But the food quality, quantity, service and atmosphere make the price worth it. My kids already asked to return to this restaurant while we were still dining there. Kids loved the steak frites and Jidori fried chicken. Parents got the coconut curry with chicken and NY steak & eggs. Guava margarita packs a nice punch. It was at a perfect location with the perfect sunlight. We went up the stairs and checked in with the hostess. Honestly, she appeared very confused about what to do with her seating chart. I'm not sure if she's new and is still trying to figure things out but she definitely need to run the front of the house a little better and I say this because our server took a little bit of time to get to us but not to her fault but because she wasn't told she new people in her section. Anyways, once we were seated and greeted by our server Ashley, who is outstanding by the way everything went well. She recommended a couple of good dishes and she wasn't wrong about them. Also, she had to be the one to give us the happy hour menu, the hostess gave us the regular dinner menu and Ashley save the day by telling us they are still on happy hour. So I ordered the Guava Margarita, really refreshing but a bit to strong for my liking but once I gave it a good stir it came out perfect. When then ordered the ff items: Wagyu dumplings Bang Bang Shrimp Pad Thai Adobo Ris Wagyu dumplings was absolutely amazing along with the the bang bang shrimp although I think it needs a little bit of lemon sprinkle. The adobo ribs was probably the best out of all the dishes. The pad thai was okay. Nothing to special about it. All in all great food, amazing atmosphere and great choice for an early dinner. I think a lot of the servers here are college students back for summer so I would say be a little patient but great food.
