We had the lunch special which is a good amount of food at a great price. The kung pao chicken and beef chow mein were delicious. Our waitress was polite and attentive. The inside was clean and comfortable. A great place to go if you have a hankering for some classic Chinese food.

We love Shanghai place and the owner Helen too. Never have had a bad thing here. We always order honey pecan shrimp. Always delicious. Great sweet and sour pork, great Mongolian beef, one of our favorites is the sizzling rice soup. So good. This is a small, family-owned restaurant that is fantastic to go to. Highly recommended.

How did I not know about this place right next to me?? My BF and I have searched for good chinese before, we ended up at Din Ho, which was not that great but we had no idea MV had a great chinese spot. Such a cool little place tucked inside a plaza on the corner of Jeronimo and Los Alisos. When we went in there was only another table being used, and by the time we were done, there were 3 more groups there, but still plenty of seating. The service was fast and the owner was so sweet and has a sweet personality! They gave us hot tea and crispy wonton strips with dipping sauce and then we browsed the menu, which included lots of different meals to chose from. Only took about 10 min or so for the first dish to come out, probably because they weren't very busy. I would say the portions are decent for 3 of us. We got 4 dishes plus the appetizer platter and we had plenty of leftovers. The house chicken was ok - lacking in complex flavors, somewhat plain but lots of chicken in dish. The Kung Pao Chicken was delish! Wish it had more spiciness though, very mild. The Egg Foo Young was really good, we got the shrimp style, so they put shrimp and veggies on top of the patties. The Beef was really good - more spiciness and lots of onion. Finally, the Pu Pu Platter was great to try a variety of items like the fried shrimp, cream cheese wontons, chicken in foil, dumplings, egg rolls, etc. Def the best we have had out in the MV/LF area, so happy we found them!

Shanghai Place is located in a small shopping center on the border of Lake Forest and Mission Viejo. It's in the same center as two of our favorite places, those being Patsy's Irish Pub and Xclusive Mexican Seafood. After years of wondering about Shanghai Place, we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. The dining room is relatively small, but it's a comfortable space. I would say it's serene because it was quiet with classic pop music playing softly in the background. The service was great. The ladies running the front of the house were all sweet and very much on the ball. They handled our meal more or less perfectly. What about the food? The food was great, too. We ordered Broccoli Beef, Cashew Chicken, the House Chow Main, and steamed rice to go along with the entrees. The portions are generous, so much so we had plenty left to go in to-go boxes. I washed mine down with a couple Tsingtao as one does. The prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back, and I suspect Shanghai Place will now be part of our regular rotation. My photos are better if you click on them. Cheers!

We just tried this for lunch and it was so delicious. They have an awesome lunch special that is a great deal including a soup, egg roll and rice on the side of a large selection of mains. I had cashew chicken and my son had kung pao beef. My other son had the pot stickers. Everything was so fresh and tasty. The service was good and the food arrived within good time. I am so glad that we found this place and will be back time and time again I think. There is no outdoor seating, but the inside is comfortable with many tables and booths. I think there were around 7 other tables being served when we were there and it did not feel cramped.

My job is to help you avoid the tragic first‑date mistakes I've already made, like the overpriced spots, the bland dishes, the "why is this chair attacking my spine?" seating. I've wasted the time, energy and money on the other loser spots so you don't have to. But when I find a place that's clean, visually appealing, thoughtfully designed, and serving food that's actually seasoned, cooked well, and plated with pride? Oh, I'm shouting it from the rooftops. So let me put you on to my latest discovery: DIHO SIAM, right in the heart of Ladera Ranch. If you've followed me on Yelp for a while, you already know I'm a lifelong Thai‑food fanatic. I've been loyal to Thai cuisine longer than some people stay loyal in relationships. Since I wasn't trying to overeat, I ordered an appetizer, and let me tell you, this "appetizer" came out looking like a BIG FULL-GROWN lunch. I'm not a big white‑meat gal, so I asked if they had anything with dark meat. I ended up with chicken wings and drumsticks in a sweet‑and‑sour sauce. The moment I cut into that chicken? I ascended. The breading had that perfect balance...not too salty, not too bland...crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. I'm not saying I had a foodie‑induced spiritual experience, but if I did, nobody needed to know. One look at the rest of the menu and I knew I'd be back. Yes, I will absolutely make the 45‑minute drive to try their lunch dishes. It's worth it. And the prices? Shockingly reasonable considering the economy is basically held together with duct tape and vibes. Now, my one note for the owners: please, for the love of all things holy and iced... offer a dairy‑free Thai iced tea option. It was 94° today, and I was ready to down two giant glasses, but they only use half‑and‑half. This is California. We are oat‑milk, soy‑milk, almond‑milk, "I'm‑on‑Ozempic‑don't‑judge‑me" people. Give the people what they want. Add oat milk to the menu, put a cute little 4x5 flyer in a clear acrylic stand on each table announcing your new dairy‑free Thai iced tea, and watch customers flock to it. And just to close this out on a high note: I'm 100% coming back to Diho Siam. There are way too many dishes on that menu calling my name, and I fully intend to answer. Consider this my official teaser...I'll be updating my Yelp Elite Squad review after my next visit, and trust me, people wait for those updates like they wait for a second date after a great first one. I might even give you an extra star and make it a Five-Star review! Wink! wink! Stay tuned, because this place has officially earned a spot on my "must‑return" list. And don't forget to give me a thumbs up or a heart if you like my reviews and follow me!

They're big, made fresh, and my daughter can easily eat three of them. The restaurant gets very busy and packed, especially during dinner, so expect a wait. The Dan Dan noodles are my husband's favorite, and I really like that they can make them non-spicy, which is a great option for my daughter. For soup, we prefer the big wonton soup over the small wonton soup because it comes with seaweed. The broccoli, however, could definitely be cooked a little longer--it's too hard for our liking. The service is basically nonexistent. You're expected to order from your phone and pay upfront, so don't come expecting much table service. One thing that really bothers me is the water service and sanitation. Instead of emptying and properly cleaning the water jars, they appear to simply refill them with more water and give them to the next customer. Knowing how messy kids' hands can get, this just doesn't sit well with me. I think the sanitation could definitely be improved. Overall, the food has several things we really enjoy, especially the green onion pancake, Xiao Long Bao, and Dan Dan noodles. But the lack of service and some sanitation concerns keep it from being a perfect experience. The 3 starts is so they can look at it and fix the sanitation issue.

Since my tastes aren't quite as adventurous, we ordered the Sichuan sweet and spicy chicken and the mapo tofu. I wasn't sure what to expect from the chicken dish, but it reminded me of a chicken in garlic sauce. The portion was very generous. full of meat, and not very spicy at all. Likewise, the mapo tofu wasn't that spicy but it had a lot of Sichuan peppercorns, which provided that mouth-numbing feel. The serving was large enough that we had leftovers (and the chicken dish, too). Maybe because my husband is not Chinese, they toned down the spice level - which is funny because I'm the one that can't handle spicy. The restaurant is nice and modern. They have QR codes for the menu, but they also have physical copies as well. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu was much larger than the menu pics I had seen uploaded on Yelp (I added a bunch of new ones). Service was fine (though they were arguing over whose fault it was that a customer was ignored, which gave it that authentic feel). Plenty of parking in the lot.
